First and last time I'll be using their Services. I took a very expensive coat to be cleaned for the first time ever!!! and they ruined it. They charged me $160 to damage my coat. Now I have to take to the boutique to get repaired, and god knows how much it will cost. You cannot market yourself as a "couture cleaner " and be this sloppy. I had just gotten my dress from alterations and needed to get it cleaned as it was a floor sample dress. I was able to give them at least the two weeks turnaround they needed to properly have it cleaned. When I had entered Brittany was very inviting and helpful in explaining the process and the form needed for my job. I have no idea the pricing comparison of other places for such a complicated piece to be cleaned so I figured with their reputation I was safe to bring my dress here before the wedding. As promised, on the date we had previously approximated she gave me a call and said my dress was ready for pick up. I could tell that my dress looked more vibrate given it was a sample dressed tried on my others before my purchase. I am very happy with the customer service and my dress as well presented. Brittany did warn prior to pick up that the dress is visible in the plastic cover sheet. read more

I found a couture Gucci dress on eBay that was of course several sizes too large. Because of the detail and intricacy of the gown, I thought all hope was lost. LD worked her magic though and was able to tailor the dress to perfection. She is truly talented and so kind and patient to work with. read more

Wow, wow, wow!!! The best place to get your cleaning done for your top-of-the-line [insert anything delicate]. Margaret's kindly picked up my finished gown from Beverly Hills boutique a week before my wedding, made the gown look 1000 times better, and dropped it off at my wedding venue a day before my wedding. I didn't have to worry about a thing!!! Okay, it did cost a lot but it was worth every penny, especially since they picked it up all the way from LA and dropped it off in OC. My bridal boutique gave me the same quote without any delivery service. They also include steaming your accessories for this service, so I included my veil with this as well. Seriously though, my wedding gown somehow transformed into a beautiful, perfect, piece of art. Everyone who had doubts of my wedding dress (including me) were stunned at this gorgeous dress after I got Margaret's service. I didn't actually end up leaving my dress here so I'll give three stars to leave some wiggle room. My dress had some dirt around them hem and that was it. They quoted me $600 to clean and box it up. That is INSANE! I paid less than that for professional alterations and would never pay more than that to just clean it and put it in a cardboard box. I took my dress 15 minutes away to get cleaned and preserved to $275 by professional dress cleaners. I recommend getting other quotes from other wedding dress cleaners. For the record the place was clean, organized and they were polite. So that was good. read more

In a city, San Diego, where half ass is full speed and mediocrity is the new standard for excellence, Margaret's is a gem of a find and meets MY expectation of excellence--not some former farmhand from Iowa (i.e. the majority of residents in this unsophisticated suburb of LA) whose standard is far below mine. Now that I've upped my game and only buy expensive Italian suits (Canali), ties (Brioni), and equally expensive Swedish dress shirts (Eton), I only take them to Margaret's....fortunately, I don't wear a suit everyday so I typically get my suits dry cleaned twice a year and my shirts hand laundered every other week....why risk damage elsewhere. My clothing--some of which had hard to get out olive oil stains--comes out fresh and in excellent condition every time. Due to the prices, I bring my everyday, less expensive shirts and casual clothing elsewhere. However, when it comes to quality and reliability it is hard to beat Margaret's. read more

There simply are not enough stars for Margaret's!!!!!! I brought my wedding gown here for what I thought would be simple alterations. After meeting with Suse, I realized I was in way over my head. I am not a seamstress--I can barely cross-stitch--and I am far from a fashionista. I also hate dressing up, and just trying on my gown in the bridal salon was enough to send me into conniptions. Suse was the exact person I needed for this job. She was funny, professional, very no-nonsense. Within seconds of zipping me up, she was pinning, measuring, taping, and tacking, and before I knew it, I had fallen in love with my dress all over again. It took three appointments to get the work done, and it really was a lot of fun watching my dress evolve into the shapeless but well-intentioned frock I had purchased into the exquisite, amazing gown it was always meant to be. Yes, Margaret's is expensive. VERY expensive. This isn't a shop I would use for everyday alterations or dry cleaning, but this is my wedding gown we're talking about. There's only ever going to be one. I really appreciated the little touches that the staff, including Suse, added throughout the entire process. I never had to call them--they called me. As a stressed-out bride, little things like that make SUCH a difference. The less I had to think during my wedding month, the better. My dress was scheduled to be delivered between 9:00 and 10:00 at the church, and it arrived exactly at 9:30 without any problems whatsoever. Suse even gave me a sweet best-wishes card and a big hug at my final fitting--I was actually sad that it was my final meeting there! I never thought I would have that swoon-y, princess moment when I put on my dress. And I know that it's totally played-out to say this, but when I finally did put on my dress for the ceremony, I honestly felt "like a bride." Just called and spoke to someone named Anita... So rude! I'm looking to get the inside of my wedding dress embroidered with my initials and the date for my "something blue" so I called and asked Margaret's since a lot of my girlfriends had this done by the same person who did their alterations, which Margaret's does. All I got from Anita when I asked her if they do monogramming is a laugh and "No, we're a dry cleaner." No questions, no suggestions, no conversation at all. And I'm not kidding she LAUGHED at me. I took my wedding dress in today for a fitting at Margaret's and felt a bit nervious about the alterations. But this place is absolutely professional, and the bridal specialists are super attentive. I'm sure the shop will give my dress some TLC. It's located on La Jolla Boulevard, but it's easy to spot. Freshly cleaned designer handbags line a wall and couture gowns are all over the place. Margaret's also does regular dry cleaning and alterations, but I would only bring vintage or expensive pieces to this place. Brides beware! Bring your dress in early for alterations. I brought in three pieces to Margaret's recently. The first was a white leather YSL Muse bag. After a year and a half, the bag was looking really hurt (deep scratches, stains, etc-just because it was white). Anyways, I had called the YSL store in South Coast Plaza to ask them if they could fix my bag, and they recommended "Factotum" in Orange County. I went on the Factotum website and saw that they also have a service via Margaret's in La Jolla. Stoked, I took my bag, a pair of shoes and a dress to Margaret's. Although my bag was not in enough distress to be cleaned via Factotum (which is to be used for major repairs such as the replacement of straps, etc), they did do the in house "Pulito" service on it. My shoes were sent to Factotum and my dress was also handled in house. My bag came out absolutley awesome. It looks nearly brand new and they did an amazing job. Although it was rather pricey, it was totally worth it. My shoes came out ok. The previous cobbler I had taken it to had butchered the heels, and Factotum tried their best at correcting their error. But they made my metallic Choo's look good enough to wear in a wedding. My dress-that is another story. I had brought it in because a rhinestone at the neckline had fell out. I had also asked them to secure the rest of the rhinestones, and was willing to pay the $40/hour charge. When I went to pick up the dress, they had replaced the rhinestone, but another one had fallen out! They charged me $12 so they obvoiusly did not do what I had asked them to. After two weeks the dress is still there. All for just securing a rhinestone. The service is excellent, or at least the person I was dealing with it is a real sweetheart. She sent me a thank you note the next day. She called me all the time to give me updates on my stuff and really followed through. Margaret's has hired some quality staff. I would recommend this place for high end bags, shoes, and clothes repair. However the dry cleaning seems ridiculously expensive. read more

I understand that "Couture Cleaner" is supposed to be more expensive; I also understand that some stains are difficult to remove even with decent dry cleaning. However, after spending well over $300 in dry-cleaning bill with them on scarves alone, and with less than 60% success rate in removing stains, they wanted to charge me $5 for additional empty cardboard scarf box????? They already charge more than 3 times the price of other places, not sure why they need to make money off complimentary paper items at the expense of leaving a bad taste in customer's mouth. read more

This review is for Suse who is doing alterations at Margaret's. She is AMAZING! I second the review before me: Suzie IS absolutely incredible and IS a genius when it comes to alterations. She actually learned professional tailoring and alterations in Germany and is a master of her art! I bought a wedding dress which I love. However, the skirt and train looked very voluminous when bustled up in a standard bustle which I absolutely hated. I didn't want to remove any material or alter the dress significantly since I plan on selling the dress after the wedding. A few tailors at the stores where I tried the dress on told me that this voluminous bustle was the only way the train could be bustled. However, Suse took the time to listen to me and in her tailor mastermind came up with a bustle that significantly reduced the volume of my skirt and train just like I wanted it. According to what the other tailors had told me, she made the impossible possible. The scheduling, the fittings, the timeliness, and the service were amazing and I was not worried for one minute that she wouldn't do an amazing job. Everything turned out perfect! I agree with the review before, it was expensive but Suse's quote was honest and upfront and her work was worth every cent. Thank you, Suse! You are the best! Margaret's also offers to prepare and pack your dress for destination weddings. I opted in for that and will update my review once I see how it works out. read more

Amazing... Amazing... AMAZING. I went to the one in Kearny Mesa/Clairemont Mesa off of Convoy, however they don't have a page on here yet. I went in 10 days ago, dropped off my pink/tan Dooney which is canvas & leather. The bottom of the purse was stained and dark, the leather had some staining on it, and the inside had an explosion of make up staining. Margaret's made my bag look STUNNING and it almost looks better than when I bought it. They even did a little touch up on the stitching that had come loose. I highly recommend this place for your designers & coutures. It came out to be $70.00 total, but in my mind, TOTALLY worth it. I will definitely be bringing in my other bags to them! read more

Getting straight to the point, they are an expensive dry cleaner. You wouldn't go there to just get your shirt and pants dry cleaned or even your Sunday best. However, they are one of the best at what they do and that's dry cleaning your high quality material garments. Case in point: I went to Vegas a few weeks ago with friends and a crazy drunk chic stumbled next to our table at Pure and got her cheap pink colored drink over my suede jacket. I go to Margaret's and ask them if they clean it and save the leather and they tell me they will do what they can. Two weeks later I come back and the spots are removed, but MOST importantly the quality and consistency of the leather is there. It was not cheap, but for how much the jacket cost it was worth it. Suzie is absolutely incredible, and is a genius when it comes to alterations. I brought my wedding dress here after a terrible experience with another alterations store. I only had 3.5 weeks before my wedding, and was extremely unhappy with how my dress looked. Suzie took one look at me in it and immediately told me what had to be done, and explained why the alterations were a lot more minor than they appeared to be. I left feeling confident and sure that I was in great hands. When I came back for my second fitting, the dress was already incredible. Suzie had done everything she promised, and the dress was exactly how I hoped it would be. Suzie and I had 3 appointments within 3 weeks, and she did everything correctly without and drama or issues. She was upfront about the price from the beginning, and although it was expensive, it was worth every penny. The price she quoted me at the beginning was within $30 of the final price, which I really appreciated. If you want quality alterations on an extremely important piece, I would 100% recommend seeing Suzie. Obviously I won't be going here for minor things, because I cannot afford it, but for anything important that is worth spending money on, Margarets will be my first stop. Simply the best cleaners I've ever used. They handle and clean garments with care and professionalism. Shirts, dresses and blouses are returned with tissue "armatures" to keep the shape of the sleeves or bodice. I've never had an issue with any garment I've sent to them. We have enough dry-cleaning to warrant having the delivery service and it's very convenient. Love that! They're quite pricey but worth every penny. I don't send my lower quality apparel to them as it's not cost effective. But I wouldn't trust my high-end clothing or home goods with anyone else. read more

This is where I got my wedding dress altered and cleaned, and everything about the experience was fantastic. My alterations turned out perfectly, even though I had a tricky dress to work with, since it was very plain and made of chiffon. The dress was delivered in beautiful condition and right on time. I didn't have to worry about anything from the day I brought the dress in, to the time it was delievered. I felt confident from the moment I entered the store. For fifteen years I have been overcharged and tolerated Margaret's Drycleaners losing my Zenya and Canali suits and denying that they had done so. Today the straw broke the camel's back when the owner's son called me and accused me of cursing at one his employees when in reality he was pissed off at me because i made Margaret's replace a pair of Zenya corduroy pants they had damaged in the drycleaning process. Incidentally, it took the owner more than two months to make good on fixing the pants! The accusation was a lie that the owner's son used to simply provide an excuse to say that he did not want me as a customer any longer. I told him that it was his prerogative to say who he did or did not want to do business with but not to lie to me while doing it! The fact is, I gave a Christmas bonus to one of his employees because she was such a good customer service person to me over the years. Now she is in the hospital in Tijuana because this owner doesn't carry medical insurance on his people. So, I went in to pay my final bill and they charged me $71.00 to dry clean​ a Canali suit and $7.50 each to laundry dress shirts. I paid the bill and went to the dry cleaners across from my office on Silverado Street. The owner told me he charged $18.00 to clean a suit and $3.75 for shirts. I am so relieved that a La Jolla business is actually being fair to the public. read more

This place is a purse saver! My boyfriend bought me a really cute white and light colored signature print purse from Coach. The top part of it was white in a sort of canvas material and if any of you owned a pair of Jacks before you know how dirty those shoes got. The top of my purse was totally dirty! I didn't want to use it anymore because it just got so dirty just by touching it even with clean hands!!! So I took it to Margarets not expecting much. Then I kept forgetting to go back and pick it up! I mustve left it there for over 7 months! Every time I got a reminder from them I would just get side tracked. So I went in 7 months later expecting a charge for leaving it there so long and there wasn't! I was amazed at how courteous their staff was to me as well. The woman at the counter handed me my purse wrapped in a plastic protective bag, with a cute little gold Margarets bow tied around it. Not only that but my purse looked AMAZING!!! I WAS THRILLED!!! I would give Margaret's five stars for quality but the prices can be quite limiting for some--so, we give them four stars. I don't know of a higher quality dry cleaners in the San Diego area. Their attention for detail is impeccable and they rarely miss any thing that I drop off. If you travel a lot... I highly recommend their boxed shirt service. Can come quite in handy when you're packing up dress shirts for business travel. My only complaint is that on one occasion they lost my two favorite dress shirts. They accidentally put them in with another client's order. I returned his shirts but when he realized what he picked up (two Borrelli shirts), he went missing. In their defense, they did promptly write a check for me to replace. However, these shirts were irreplaceable. Roxanne ( i believe is the womans name who altered my dress) did everything in her power to make me look perfect that day! With weekly dress fittings until the day of my wedding, my dress fit me like it was meant to fit me! Plus, they pressed my dress along with all the other bridesmaides dresses and sent them to the resort that morning. I literally walked into my room and saw my dress ready for me to slip into. furthermore, Roxanne, came to my wedding and helped me bustle my train. I brought in my cashmere scarf that a had two spots of hot chocolate i accidentally spilled.. my regular dry cleaner said they might not get it out and would not take it, so they recommend Margrets. I was alittle worried since this was a expensive scarf and i rather not dry clean if they were going to distroy it. Margrets did a WONDERFUL job. Took out all the stain spots and cleaned it. Its quite expensive here so i won't bring my regular dryclean here, but if you have expensive bags, wedding dresses or courture dresses, bring it here and they will do a fab job.
