So we sat down and were given chips and salsa waited quite a bit for anyone to come over and bring us a water or ask for a drink. About 10 min. We finally ordered drinks and apps. Drink was tasty and really only redeeming thing about the experience. I had the jefe marg with a sidecar of Cointreau. We ordered a shrimp cocktail and chori queso. It came out about 10-15 min later. No one checked on us to see what was going on. We are eating apps and no one came to take order. The shrimp cocktail was a little misleading for my partner as a large shrimp is on side but tiny tinies in cocktail. My queso was described as SIZZLING SKILLET and nothing was sizzling they put it under broiler to brown but the cheese wasn't even melted thru and there was a ton of water mixed in not chorizo oil water. After 2 tortillas no more and since no one came by we asked to check and left. They definitivamente left money on the table by not coming to take our order more quickly. I never leave reviews, but this was so outlandishly bad that I felt guilty not writing at the prospect of preventing another family like mine from having such a bad experience. Our family of 5 walked in to a visibly irritated reception and took a seat against staffs wishes. This food is complete slop- I actually don't believe the reviews here are real, there is just no way anyone is calling this food authentic and delicious. Our fish tacos were on cold out of the bag "tortillas" with bagged iceberg lettuce and unmelted untouched American cheese maybe. It was visually shocking looked like our children threw it together- couldn't believe they weren't embarrassed to put it on the table. Our oldest son picked up his quesadilla and liquid poured out of the bottom like a faucet was left on. He refused to eat- told us this is literally poison- and honestly we had nothing to say, the usual routine of pressuring him to eat felt unethical. The refried beans served were very off in color, had negative flavor and were most definitely canned. It's simply inconceivable this place has been around for over a decade; the town shouldn't stand for this slop. My honest advice- ignore the words in these reviews and look at the photos. read more

Usually happy with this restaurant but disappointing experience tonight. Ordered a taco salad and when it came I couldn't see any taco meat. Found out that their taco salad is shredded chicken?? So they brought taco meat which we were charged for. Also asked for jalapeños which we were also charged for. Asked to speak to manager, none present at restaurant. We decided to try Margaritas after looking for a good Mexican food restaurant with vegetarian options. I ordered the chicken tacos. The chicken tasted good and it came with a salad which was also good. The service was slow and I had to ask for a lemon for my water 3 times. The waitress was friendly though and corrected the issue and brought me a water with lemon, however by the time she brought the lemon I was finished eating. The water tasted nasty, I would not recommend a beverage here as the soda tasted just as nasty. The outdoor seating was very nice and relaxing however we were getting bit up by flies and wanted to leave and the waitress was taking long to take our card so we could head out. Great place for food and drinks! Got a pitcher of the house margarita start off dinner. I ordered chimichanga with barbacoa and my wife got the house sampler. The chimichanga was good and the barbacoa was seasoned well. The house sampler was more than enough food for my wife. The waiters checked in on and and provided excellent service. I would definitely recommend going back to try their other items. Tip: they do charge extra for refills on the chips. Not an issue just a fyi. read more

Margarita's had nice outdoor seating that made the long wait for our food not so bad. The chips and salsa were tasty and overall the food was alright. They mixed up one of our orders but by the time the food arrived we were hungry and took it. Overall pretty good food and not too pricey for Marco Island. read more

I messaged the business directly and haven't received a response so I'm posting publicly. My wife and I ate here on Monday June 30th at about 6-7pm. My wife ordered the Barbacoa tacos and I ordered the Swai aka fish tacos. Immediately that night and into the next couple days and even now my stomach hasn't been right. I've had to vomit at least 5 times with real bad stomach pains. I will be testing for salmonella and other parasitic infections. The atmosphere and service was just fine no issues here. read more

It's my first time here at MARGARITAS, I had pork tacos from here. I was good, tasty The service was okay. We got tortilla chips twice when we weren't suppose to & we asked the servant to bring us hot sauce and a lemon water instead of a regular water. The water taste like bottled water. As returning visitors to the area we decided to try Margarita's. It apparently is the area's "off" season for tourists, and the restaurant had maybe two other tables seated with diners, though they have plenty of seating indoors and out to accommodate a LOT of customers. The employees looked bored to tears with nothing to do to stay busy, however in our favor we did receive prompt service for getting our drinks, receiving salsa along with pico de gallo and chips, and having our orders taken. Food was served within 10 minutes of ordering. Entrees at our table included veggie tacos, shrimp fajitas, and beef tacos with sides of black beans, Mexican rice, and refried beans. The food was just okay. The 6 shrimp that came with the fajita order had the tails on (which I have never seen when ordering at other Mexican restaurants). I asked if we could get additional chips and salsa and asked first if there was a charge, and we were told the first order of salsa and chips is complimentary and after that it is $3.95. I was surprised since there were 3 of us dining. It is common practice among most Mexican restaurants that each person dining receives a complimentary serving of chips and salsa, therefore we did not order additional. Think about it, if 3 of us came in and had each sat at a separate table, we would have each received an order of chips and salsa. But because 3 of us came in and sat at the same table together, we all have to split one order? Not cool. Given the few customers dining inside, the music being played was a little overbearing. I would suggest turning the volume down some when there are only a handful of people in the establishment. We were not overly impressed as a whole but left with full bellies. The food is overpriced by about $2 per entree compared to competitors. It is not likely we will return, but we are finding that most restaurants in Marco Island seem to cater to the tourists who they know will only hit them up once or twice while vacationing and not overly concerned with focus on high quality service and food. Went there for a late lunch/early dinner so it was happy hour. We each ordered the house margarita and right out of the gate had to order a shot so it had some tequila in it. 2 house margaritas a shot of tequila to make it toast like something $12! So no complimentary chips and salsa so $3.50 for a few chips. Food came and it was okay, but had very little seasoning. Funny thing is reading reviews I expected to have some time with the little basket of chips but 1 minute later the entrees arrived. I would think ya could slow it down and let folks get thru a round of drinks and some chips before you deliver the meal. Super expensive for what's going on here. read more

Margarita's is definitely going into the regular rotation. We were able to walk right in without a reservation for inside dining on a Friday night at 6pm, which I know will become impossible in January - March, but was much appreciated on this visit. As soon as we sat down, we had waters and chips/salsa brought to the table...amazing service. The drinks were very good; I love a strawberry frozen margarita with a salt rim. :) I was so happy with my delicious seafood quesadilla (filled with shrimp and crab meat) and Mexican rice! One of the worst Mexican restaurants I've ever been to, but at least the beer was cold. There for lunch on a cloudy humid day. All started well with a cold Modelo Especial. Order the Taco Combo with crispy tortillas. The free salsa and tortilla chips came quickly and were ok. Then the tacos. The tortillas were stale from a box, no freshly fried tortillas like mom used to make. Had ground beef, chicken, and pork. The pork was tender, but unseasoned. The ground beef and chicken were unremarkable. No seasoning or salsa on the tacos, just some cheap tasteless cheddar cheese along with some lettuce. No pickled onions or peppers. All accompanied by canned refried beans. Don't go. Clearly they're relying on a clientele who have never had good Mexican food. read more

Came on Cinco de Mayo and was completely disappointed. You would think on this day there would be better organization. Several employees walked by us and never said hello or acknowledged me and my family. W waited 9 minutes before a woman asked if we were on the list to which I snapped and said no are you gonna ask my name? She told us waiting for a table outside would take longer than Inside and when we asked how long the wait would be she said she didn't know. Couple in front of me asked for just drinks and walked to the bar, they were waiting for a bartender and then host came around and said "maybe just come tmrw"... my family was shocked. The host mentioned that the bar was closed because "they didn't have enough people to man the bar." The only bar they had open was outside in the parking lot. BTW this makeshift bar outside in the parking lot just serving beers. We waited about 15 min for a table. A man dropped off the chips and salsa then we waited an additional 15 min for server. I have no idea why there are negative reviews. Came today and sat outside. The staff was friendly, the service was fast and my wife and I both had Barbacoa Burritos and absolutely loved them. Meat was seasoned perfectly. Margaritas that we got were strong and tasty. We got checked on several times. They even brought water out for our little dog without us asking. The interior of the place is somewhat old but it was clean and the staff was great. I started off with a sangria that the waiter recommended but it was disappointing. I nursed it throughout my meal. The chips were crunchy and the salsas were good. I ordered the House Sampler and got a hard Ground Beef Taco, a Pork tamale, and a chicken enchilada. I got the charra beans and rice for the sides. Disappointing visit to a previously good restaurant. The place is a decent size by Marco standards. We were a group of 10 and the place was basically empty. So of course they sat us next to another large group. The guacamole was devoid of taste, it needed salt, garlic cilantro, something! The $12 nachos were okay if you like gooey cheese over welted nacho chips served with some kind of beans. My wife had the "enchiladas Del Mar" which smelled conspicuously fishy. The kind of fishy smell that makes you wonder if the fish is fresh. Several in our group confirmed our concern as well. She ended up leaving most of it for fear of getting sick. I had the Burrito Grande, a totally uninspired and flavorless dish consisting of a modest size burrito stuffed with flavorless Carnitas meat and a small amount of lettuce and tomatoes. Burritos typically are stuffed with some kind of rice and bean mixture, sour cream, etc.., but nothing like that here. The service was another issue. No warm greetings or any veiled attempt of selling. I was made to feel like we were inconveniencing them by disturbing their quiet night at the empty restaurant. Not once did they come by to ask how the food was, whether we needed refills of our drinks, or water. They didn't even bother to ask if we wanted dessert Add to that an automatic 18% tip.
