Went here for lunch today. Only 3 tables were occupied. My two coworkers and I stood around for over 5 minutes waiting to be sat to a table. Once there another several minutes for drink order. As we sat waiting to give our order, we could see all the servers hanging out and laughing with each other. We had to wave them down to put in our food order. I ordered the Quesotacos with a side of rice, and on Thursdays they have a free small guacamole. The tacos came out without rice or guacamole, my coworker was missing part of his order too. When we waved our server down to ask for the missing food, he turned around and walked away before I could finish asking for what I was missing. In total we were there for over an hour on our lunch. The food was quite good, but the service was so terrible, I will not be back. The front of house staff were all young men more interested in hanging out. When we received our checks, I then found why he wasn't interested. They went ahead and charged the three of us each an 18% tip AND a service fee! For a party of 3?? Really? Now I know why there were only 3 tables dining when I walked in at 12:00. Won't be back! read more

Not good :( our server was nice but the music inside was ridiculously loud and the food I ordered (chile rellenos--chef specialty) was just not good sadly. I did not finish it--suspected it was maybe frozen? But in any case, just wasn't worth the calories. We also had an automatic 18% gratuity added to our bill when there were only 4 of us and the signs posted said there would be a 15% gratuity automatically added. Thirty Thursday's couldn't have been any better. I had the largest margarita yet! It was really tasty and had a good amount of alcohol in it that was worth the money. The burrito was good. This hit the spot for us. The dirty street tacos were very good. Hubby had the pollo and asada - both good. I had the pollo and the cochinita pibil - cochinita pibil was the best! So good! Fajitas WERE SCRUMPTIOUS ! This was my first time visiting this place and I didn't know what to expect! Their colorful sign outside makes it appealing that you want to check it out ! Once we walked in , we were instantly seated , aside from the other reviews, service was excellent and SWIFT ! The drinks were well worth the price and were delicious! Only downside was the waiter didn't understand English very well, so my questions about the food wasn't answered! I dunno who these People are leaving bad reviews, but we ordered the molcajete (I order one at every Mexican restaurant I go to for, you know, quality control) and it was EXCELLENT. Was there with my fiancé during Memphis in May, and lemme add, that time of year is CHAOS for restaurants. Everywhere is busy. Everyone is tired. I'm sure the locals are exhausted from the visitors, but it was late after one of the nights, they were still open. There was a wait, but we got in, we got great service, great drinks and great food. The food doesn't have much flavor. The chips are nice and thin but the salsa just taste like puréed tomatoes and cilantro. Literally bland. The margaritas dip that was supposed to be cheese dip with ground beef and beans just looked like slop. Again, zero flavor. This cheese dip is just plain cheese dip, no jalapeño flavor at all. The retried beans tasted like we opened a can of refrained beans. They are busy today so I'm going to blame that on the terrible service. Ok so my mother and I walk in and the place smells like fish...... should have been a red flag at that point, but I noticed a table by the door eating fish and I knew I wasn't ordering smelly fish (good fish should never smell fishy) so I guess I didn't take it into consideration. It was basically cheese on half of the tortilla, then it looked like they just threw meat out n top of the cheese and folded over the tortilla and on top was nothing but grease. Then to top it off, they didn't even bother to cut it into pieces so now I'm wondering how I'm supposed to cut this quesadilla with a plastic fork in a styrofoam container. Like what? Needless to say, something as simple as a steak quesadilla should not be made so difficult. Maybe I'm crazy, but I thought cutting a whole quesadilla into parts was very basic. Do not eat here! Their menu is very misleading. Their seafood(besides shrimp) is all questionable and fake. When asking about food waiters said it was amazing but upon delivery food was not what ordered. Instead of offering something else the assistant manager insisted that we get what we get and threatened to call the cops if we did not pay. Manager of location was called and was very rude and said they do not usually make adjustments to people's tickets. Long story short 6 cops were called bc they were unhappy that we didn't want to pay for food we didn't eat. Horrible service, smells like mop water, sticky ass floors. This spot was mentioned to us after asking some woman at Opry Mills for a spot to grab a drink/food in Memphis. We found it after we arrived and was not disappointed. If you're in Memphis, don't bother wasting your time with this place. Short and sweet review: it took us 20 minutes to get seated in a half-empty place. Additionally, after being seated, the waiter didn't get to us (party of 2) for an additional 15 minutes. He subsequently took our drink and food order at the same time realizing how long it had been, and then turned around and brought our drinks out 15 minutes later. There are some good things and some bad things, like most places. The bad: the hostess wasn't very friendly or helpful. We had a party of 8, and a few open tables plus a few people getting up from large tables. She said she'd seat us at the open table as soon as they clean it (it had two glasses on it). We stood around for about 10 minutes, asking again if someone was going to clean it and she said they'd get to it soon. So after a few more minutes, we just cleaned it ourselves. After that, and employee walked up to us and said this table is for a party of 8 waiting on a table. To which we said, "yeah that's us, we've been standing there waiting for you to clean it." The food was good, about what I'd expect. The margaritas were tasty and good balance of flavors with alcohol. They have daily specials that are a couple bucks off, so I'd recommend getting one of those because their margs aren't as affordable as some other places. My wife got the skinny margarita, which uses fresh juices instead of mix, and it was good, but very watered down (like they poured in water to give it volume). I sat at the full bar. Repeat... the bar was full. However, everyone at the bar had food and drinks. I counted 4 servers working the bar and tables. I counted 5 tables taken. All but one were fully served. I sat for 20 minutes at the bar. 20 full minutes not saying a word but in plain sight of all servers as all four passed me when they went to the register to ring the checks. 20 minutes and not even an, "Ill be right with you." Or, "give me a moment." 20 minutes without a care that I was even alive. So I just walked out. Why didn't I speak to anyone? Well why didn't they speak to me? So I will not be going back... I know I could have said something. But I know they could care less had I stayed or left. And that level of apathy is distasteful. If the front of house doesn't care about me, the people paid to be in my face, I can only imagine how the people who I don't see feel. Oh food fell on the ground, "I don't care." I had the sour cream enchiladas and they were on point! My favorite part, however, was the margarita selection! They had so many flavors. Also, 4-7 is happy hour, so you can get a good deal on a margarita. They are a little pricey if you don't go during happy hour. read more

Girl don't do it, it's not worth it. Unless you came to drink. 2 for 1 small margaritas for $7.99. We got frozen strawberry margaritas and they were delicious. We requested one virgin frozen margaritas but the restaurant wasn't able to provide a virgin drink. That was okay. The table salsa was pace salsa put into a bowl. Queso was ground beef no seasoning. Rice and beans were delicious. Chipotle sauce was fire! Baked potato was gigantic. Vegi fajitas were very delicious and unexpectedly well done. Small California burrito was grilled chicken with a tortilla thrown on top and tucked in around the sides. I would say 4 stars for drinks and 1 star for food. Margarita's - I don't even know where to begin. I've been here once before and the service was so-so and the food was...your typical Mexican Restaurant. Last night I went with friends to eat and give this place another try - I really want to support Downtown new restaurants, but I have to say this one fell REAL short and I will never be back again. Lets start by when we first walked in. It smelled like someone had thrown up and they just cleaned it up - You know the smell when you were in school and the janitor cleaned it up with the saw dust stuff - yep that's what it smelled like and a little bleach in there. We thought it was just the front of the restaurant, so we got seated in the back, but it was the whole restaurant. We sat down and waited. Chips and salsa arrived promptly, but then we sat and waited. About 15 minutes go by and we literally had to wave down a server to get us even waters. Two of my friends decided to go straight to the bar to get a drink, but that still took them forever. Finally our server shows up and asks us for our order. He definitely writes everyone's order word for word (we saw him do this in his "organized" pad of paper). My friends get their beer and margarita and all seems ok not so bad. But then we wait. and wait. The GM (I'm guessing) realizes we've been waiting for over 30 minutes and offers us some guacamole or queso on the house, which was nice. The server comes by with what we thought was our food, then realizes it wasn't and takes the whole tray of food away. 10 minutes later this same thing repeats. That's 2 trays full of food that wasn't ours. Finally he comes back around and hands 2 of us our food - both extremely cold, but edible, but only because we were starving. The 2 of us still were waiting on our food. He tried to give us 2 plates, but neither were what we ordered. 10 minutes later they bring out one plate that was missing, but still missing a side of rice and my whole meal. We call the GM over to ask what is going on because everyone has their food but myself. This has almost been 2 hours since we initially sat down. Everyone always thinks Mexican is fairly quick, but this was not the case today. Finally my food comes out and it's still wrong, but at that point the Hangry kicked in and I didn't care. I do have to say - at least my food was hot. The server comes and says he's sorry and is running around the restaurant in chaos. We look around and think he's the only one working, but there is another server that seems calm and collected. He apologizes and says he'll get us a round of drinks on the house (I wasn't' drinking) and also that we'll get a discount for the wait. He ended up comping my meal, but that's only because I insisted since it took an hour and a half to wait and he gave me the wrong meal 2xs before. Honestly, the service here was HORRIBLE. The GM really should've taken over, but didn't and really didn't act like there was any concern. Without us making it apparent that we were upset with service and the waiting, they would've just gone on the same way. Oh - lets talk about the margaritas - terrible. It was like drinking sweet and sour mix and a splash of tequila. Not good at all. In the end our discount was only 15%, which was really only $2 off our meal. Don't worry we also waited for about 7minutes for the GM to come over and check us out at the counter. I highly don't recommend this restaurant and I'm extremely disappointed on how they handled this situation. I've been to other restaurants in Memphis, who realize their mistake and will do anything and everything to make it up - whether that is comping the entire meal or giving me a significant discount. I've been back to these restaurants again because how great the customer service had been. Over 2 hours at a restaurant for 4 people to eat, especially at a Mexican Restaurant, that had only 5 other tables at the time we were there, with cold food and not really apologetic staff is not worth coming back. read more

We went for a late lunch after arriving in Memphis. Ordered the loaded nachos which is essentially fajitas on stack of chips. Our mistake was ordering nachos forgetting that we get the chips and salsa when entering- will need to order some variety next time- oh and there will be a next time. Was the most satisfying Mexican meal since moving to Tennessee 6 months ago. We got ground beef and shredded chicken on the nachos and it was flavorful and the perfect ratios of all the ingredients. I ordered the chicken wings and they were pretty good. My party ordered a shrimp chimichanga and it was not fully cooked. Another in my party ordered the wet burrito and liked it. It is quite pricey for the quality of the food. The floor was EXTREMELY slick, very unsafe to walk on. The toilet was full of bugs and when you flush, they all came right back up. My wife and I just ate here at Margarita's. We had the pick 3 lunch special. I choose three tacos it came with refried beans and rice. My meal we very good and hot. The plate itself was probably 130* no kidding SO BE CAREFUL! My wife had the same with the exception of a tamale with two tacos. She especially liked the tamale!
