One of the flies that keep flying on your food.

I should have read the Yelp reviews before coming here. The service was awful from the beginning. Our waitress didn't even take drink orders from the entire table and then came back trying to take food orders when only 2 out of 5 people had been acknowledged. Somehow she even skipped over the person paying for the meal. She was inattentive the entire time, rarely checked on the table, and when my drink finally arrived, she put it on someone else's side instead of handing it to me. Small detail, but it summed up the level of service we received. The restaurant also had flies hovering around and trying to land on our food while we were eating, which was honestly disgusting. The food wasn't any better. I ordered the churrasco and it was extremely chewy and difficult to eat. On top of that, the food took forever to come out. Between the poor service, long wait times, flies around the food, and disappointing meal, this was a complete waste of money. There are plenty of better places to eat in Tampa. I won't be returning.

Had a reservation for 13 on a Friday night. Staff was unprepared and flustered. It took almost 15 minutes to receive waters with no greeting. Happy hour menu does not clarify drinks are actually 2 for 1. Presentation of food was subpar, food quality was better than most Mexican in tampa. The vegetarian combo are the only vegetarian options on the menu, not listing the items anywhere else of proving a description of what is in the dishes. Single stall bathrooms; 1 men and 1 woman. At that point just make them gender neutral. Too big of a restaurant for only two bathrooms. There was a very bright led lighting right at eye level when sitting in the main dining room by the bar which made the experience not so lovely.

Went to Margarita's Mexican on Davis Island after run club on Wednesday. It wasn't too busy, so we got seated right away. The service was average, but the little bit I nibbled on was actually pretty good. The Ultimate Margarita was definitely the winner, super refreshing and flavorful. We ended up getting a whole pitcher of it. The Classic Margarita, on the other hand, was a little too sweet for me and just didn't hit the mark. Overall, it's a solid spot for decent food and drinks, and it's tucked along a cute little strip of local businesses on the island.

I came here with a friend for dinner and we decided to sit outside. The patio seating was really pleasant--comfortable, relaxed, and a nice spot to enjoy the evening. I ordered the California burrito, and it was delicious. The portion was huge and packed with flavor. The ingredients tasted fresh, and the balance of carne asada, fries, and toppings made it super satisfying without being overly heavy. My friend really enjoyed their meal too, and we both agreed it hit the spot. Service was friendly and attentive, and even though it wasn't super fast, we never felt rushed and got to enjoy a laid-back meal. Overall, this place has a great vibe, tasty food, and is worth checking out if you're craving Mexican. I'll definitely be back to try some of the other menu items!

Margaritas Mexican Restaurant - A Hidden Gem on Davis Island Hola, amigos! If you're craving **authentic Mexican flavors** with a side of cozy vibes, run--don't walk--to **Margaritas Mexican Restaurant** on Davis Island. Tucked away off the beaten path, this place is a **local treasure**--spotless, charming, and packed with soul. I devoured the **beef tacos** (exceptional doesn't even cover it) and slurped up the **soup** like it was my job--yes, even in summer. Because **good food is ALWAYS comforting**, no matter the season. -

We had a lovely dinner here. There was live music and since the weather was perfect, we chose to sit outside. Our server was amazing; attentive, kind, and ensured everything arrived promptly. We both loved our meals, and the queso and guac were especially delicious!

Love the food! Delicious and fresh. My family and I love to come here and dine outside on the patio, the vibe is amazing. We visited last week and our server was the sweetest, so quick, and had wonderful recommendations. Their elotes are to die for

Cinco de Mayo was upon us and my friends and I needed a last minute spot. We ventured over to Davis Island around 6:45 on Sunday. There was about a thirty minute wait for a table of five, which I felt was decent given the celebratory day. We were greeted by a live DJ and some guests enjoying the music as they showed off their salsa moves. Naturally we had to start with chips and salsa and a round of margaritas. I had the chicken enchiladas. My friends tried the nachos, coconut shrimp, fajitas, and a specialty chicken dish. Even though they were busy, all of the staff were very friendly. One of the waiters even sat down at our table to chat with us! We enjoyed the food and it was a perfect fit for the relaxed, low key dinner we were looking for!

Margaritas is one of the only restaurants located on Davis Island, so you definitely need to take advantage! I went on a Friday night, and parking was a nightmare. I dropped my family off and had to park blocks away in the neighborhoods. Be super careful of towing and make sure you read the signs! We got there just in time for their Happy Hour. It's not very clear on the menu, but you get TWO drinks for $8.95. My mom and aunt didn't know this and thought they were ordering just 1 each, but ended up a little tipsy by the end. LOL. You can choose either a margarita or sangria which is nice as well. I got chicken tacos for my main dish. It came with 3 and rice, and I ate every bite! It was delicious. You also get 1 free basket of chips and salsa. Extra salsa is $1 FYI! They will not tell you this, so I am telling you this! Service was a bit slow, but they were slammed, so I will not let that ruin my experience. They also had live music right next to our table. The vibe was very upbeat! We watched the sunset at Davis Island beach area afterwards; overall, it was a great night!

We had lunch here while my dad had a procedure done at Tampa general hospital. We all got the steak tacos and thought they were pretty good. Their house margaritas are very yummy and strong for the price. I got the margarita with the grand marnier floater and it was delicious. The rice was fluffy and the beans were flavorful. Overall everything was good. I do wish the steak had been a little more cooked or maybe seasoned more as it left something to be desired but I'd definitely try it again.

Visited Davis Islands for the first time in a while. We were craving Mexican food and saw Margaritas Mexican Restaurant and decided to give it a try. It's located on the main strip which is very convenient. The service from the waiters was very good as they provided good insight on the menu and specials. The food however was nothing special. We've tried better dishes at other Mexican restaurants that are deserving of 5 stars. The chimichanga and rice bowl were average and weren't our favorite. The chips and salsa were also OK and not great. Good for a one time visit

I think…read morethe challenge for me is two-fold. 1) they close at 3:00 pm and I'm a night owl, and 2) PPPPAAARRRKKKIIIINNNGGG. Please note that most of the parking around them is owned by 717 parking, and if you don't have the app, you may need to find alternative parking. Thank goodness I did, not too far away from the shop. It's a Saturday afternoon, and I think that played a reason why I managed. The owner tells me that the parking outside the seafood shop is legit too, and I'm keeping that in my pocket as well. Anyway, enough about my soapbox about parking, because this review is not about that. Cafe Hey's aesthetic and style speaks to me about indie coffeehouses from back in the day, as back in my day as a college student. Worn aged bookshelves with paperbacks and games. Brick walls. Off-beat artwork for sale adorning said walls. Comfy chairs scattered around the space giving it an intimate yet private feel. It reminds me of a time when restaurants and indie shops had more character and were unique with their own identity, before corporate took over and homogenized and sterilized everything. This place screams me, and I'm so thankful to be able to come back. The owner was very gracious and kind and listened to me vent about the parking for a little bit before giving me that tidbit about the other legit spots. For my drink I got the Gorilla Hug, which combines flavor of hazelnut, almond, banana and chocolate, lots of foam, and is drizzled with more chocolate. I got this hot with whole milk. Oh man, the flavor is a big WIN for me. Cozy, yet almost refreshing with the almond and banana flavor, which works very very well. The day wasn't too hot at all, so it really hit the spot. The last time I was here, I remember getting Turkey in the Grass. This sandwich as the name suggests as turkey, cucumber, greens, and cream cheese, nestled together in perfectly tender yet crisp Cuban bread (from La Segunda???). This sandwich was very satisfying, yet incredibly light and wouldn't weigh you down. The turkey is tender and fresh, and the cucumber and cream cheese combo gives it a flavor that is reminds of the Tasty Turkey sandwiches I used to love at Einstein Bros bagels when I was a college student. Even the shop ITSELF is worth a visit, as I came for food and drink, but stayed for art. Once again, the cool independent art vibe taking me back when I was younger. The folks here are friendly, too, and I felt welcomed and at home. Hopefully I won't wait another 9 years go come back.

I stopped in for a quick breakfast and ordered The Yankee (pastrami, scrambled egg whites, and cheese on an English muffin), a side of breakfast potatoes, and one of their cream cheese brownies. The standout was easily the breakfast sandwich. The English muffin was one of the best I've ever had. Fresh, soft, and clearly made with care. It was also a bit larger than your typical English muffin, and honestly, the bread was so good that I found myself taking the pastrami out and eating it separately because I enjoyed the egg, cheese, and muffin combination that much. If you're someone who loves an English muffin breakfast sandwich, this is worth trying for the bread alone. The cream cheese brownie was also excellent. I would absolutely order that again. The only real letdown was the breakfast potatoes. They were just okay and could have been much crispier. They were already a little soggy even though I picked my food up as soon as it was ready and ate it immediately, so it wasn't a case of the food sitting around. Service was friendly, but I was surprised by how long the food took considering the restaurant wasn't particularly busy and there were plenty of open seats. Overall, I can definitely see why Wright's has been a Tampa staple for so long.

Paul's is a truly marvelous establishment and its size ( there are probably 10-12 tables) is very NY. Small and intimate but what comes forth from the kitchen is pure magic. The cuisine is an Asian fusion- that word "fusion" is used a lot these days sometimes a bit much, but Paul's can use whatever words they choose because the food is delicious. We started with the chicken satay, and crispy spring rolls. The satay was delightful and the chicken was tender and flavorful. The spring rolls are def made in house- no frozen spring rolls here, and very tasty. I ordered the Pad Thai- with chicken and shrimp at a medium spice level. All I can say is- WOW, just WOW! By far the best Pad Thai I have had in Tampa in 11 years. The subtle flavors coupled with the mild - yet striking spice was a carnival of excitement in my mouth. The chicken was tender was was the shrimp- the noodles cooked to perfection and the dish was NOT wet- it was perfectly seasoned and was accompanied by a Thai chili vinegar on the side and pepper flakes to add a bit more spice- if I had fancied that. Well, I did. Not because it wasn't seasoned as I had asked, but because I decided to add a little more kick! Our server was just lovely- attentive, helpful and always there when we needed her- always checking to be sure we were ok. The time from kitchen to table is perfect- yet there is no rush, the restaurant just wants to be sure you are enjoying yourself! We topped the evening off with a slice of coconut cream pie- fabulous!! Our experience with Paul's won't be our last.
