The Mrs. and I had lunch today at Maria Baja. It was an adventure getting there. Yelp had Maria Baja listed on Francisco Rodriguez which is entirely inaccurate. Here is the correct address: Carr. Costera a Barra Navidad 496 Alta Vista, 48380 Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco You'll see the sign off the side of the road. You can't miss it. If you use Yelp to get there it will take you to an abandoned building on a street that is cut in half by a high rise condo complex. Maria Baja isn't much to look at. It isn't festooned with Mexican decor look a lot of the other taco places. The menu is posted on the wall and seating is ample. Tacos, tostadas, burritos, and poke bowls are some of the many offerings. The Mrs. and I both ordered the Baja Pescado and Baja Camarones tacos. We both enjoyed the shrimp more than the fish. There was just something about the garnish that mingled better with the shrimp than the fish. The Mrs. also ordered the Tostada de Camarones. She loved it. As far as price goes we couldn't have gotten a better deal. Two sodas, four tacos, and one tostada came out to about $20 U.S. dollars including tip. The tacos weren't small so you're not going to leave Maria Baja hungry.

Great find thanks to reviews online! Small side of the road place but great food! I had a mixed Poke Bowl with tuna and shrimp! Big bowl full of fresh things! I may venture back here this week and try another menu item!

Very local taco place near Zona Romantica. We had a bit of time finding it, but once there were pleased with the various taco offerings. Sadly they were out of tuna the day we came, but there was still plenty else to try. Menu is written in English on a large board so you can see everything there with ease, though it didn't matter as our waiter spoke fluent english. Prices were incredibly inexpensive. Baja Fish Taco = great, crispy outside with soft, juicy inside Al Pastor Fish = flaky in all the good ways. Porkbelly Chicharron & Shrimp = personal favorite. Loved the fatty pork combining with savory shrimp. Crab tostado = husband ordered this and said it was delicious.

    Multiple sauce options.

We love Maria Baja for their authenticity. Went four times when in PV back in Feb 2022 and twice, thus far, on current trip.

Delicious tacos and their rack of salsas.

This is such a hidden gem. The current address listed on here is wrong, it's behind that - but I already requested for Yelp to change it. The actual address is (Carr. Costera a Barra de Navidad #496, Alta Vista, 48380 Puerto Vallarta, Jal., Mexico). I am so happy I found this spot. Yummy seafood tacos at a very affordable price. Visit this place when you come to Puerto Vallarta. I highly recommend it.

Absolutely Delicious seafood taco, tostadas. Stuffed ourselves. Great service and well priced. Maria's Baja was recommended to us now we are doing the same. We will be back.

    So many sauces!

It's a a pretty busy street that can be hard to miss, also it's pretty small. The food is so good though! The fish tasted so fresh, definitely some of the best tacos I had in PV! I came here twice during my short visit

This place is outstanding! Located right on the side of the Mismaloya Highway next to Kiosko. It has outdoor seating and a bar around the open kitchen. It is a small place. I'm sure they get busy with how good their food is. We tried a few items: Pork belly chicharons with shrimp aguachiles. It had a nice deep fried crunch texture in a lite and refreshing Serrano paste. Octopus tostada: the octopus was tender and moist. On a generous helping of sliced onions and tomatoes. Baja shrimp taco: this tempura fried shrimp taco with red cabbage has an almost Dijon mustard sauce on it. It was flavorful. Tropical Shrimp tostada: many and shrimp in a lime-based sauce made this dish amazing! Seared tuna taco: a delicious sweet sauce over nice and fresh seared tuna! Agua frescas: pineapple, lime, and jamica.made for a refreshing little cocktail. If you want inexpensive, fresh ingredients, and TONS of flavor, go here before 6 pm!

Believe the hype! Came here for lunch after a full day of work and it was truly exceptional. Laid back vibe and personal service . Now the food : anytime they bring out a row of homemade sauces , you know you are in for a treat (8 to be exact). I had the grilled fish tacos and a ceviche tostada. Fresh and very tasty . No beer but they have a store next door so pick up the brew in advance ! I will probably eat here a couple more times during my stay

    The view was nice too

However, as me and my friends (it was 4 of us) were leaving the restaurant, our waiter chased us down claiming we did not tip enough. Here's a note from my friend detailing more of what happened: "It was 150 pesos which is a little more than 10% of the total. In Mexico, 10% is completely customary, especially for tourist. Locals will give even less and typically leave only about 50 pesos. I don't know if he was expecting for us to give him more just because we're used to giving 15 or even 20% at a time but I always do at least 10. If it's one of the really nice restaurants where they take care of absolutely everything then I do get more than that but this was just a normal place And I did fold the bills because I clipped it into the checkbook, so there is a chance he thought it was just 50. But to flip out and say it's not enough that he deserves more or just to take it away is crazy in my opinion." We may return, but this really turned a perfect visit into a not so great one in the end. The 3/5 is for food and service, would've been 5/5 had we not been stopped as we were leaving for not "tipping enough".

One of their most iconic dishes was El Kraken, a whole small octopus, grilled and served with potatoes and tzatziki. From the taco menu, the Tres con Todo were three "tuna al pastor" tacos made of cubes of tuna with pineapple, sprouts, radish, and creamy avocado on two fried tacos--creative, but nothing too outstanding flavorwise. The Churrasco de Salmon was a perfectly tender salmon filet topped with a cream sauce and served with plantain puree and grilled corn on the cob.
