Absolutely delicious seafood tacos! We are so glad we came here for lunch! We definitely overordered and got 4 tacos each... 1) Baja fish tacos: don't skip these, the fish is fried soooo well and is so soft / flaky 2) Tuna and mango tostada: the tuna was very fresh. Marinated well. Yum. 3) Rock shrimp tostada: the shrimp were fried so well. We wished it had a bit more sauce but we made use of all the salsas provided 4) Chiccharon AguaChile: this was our least favorite but it was very unique. This taco came in a bowl full of aguachile salsa and was covered with avocado onion mango and raw shrimp. The chicharron inside the taco was tasty. The taco got a bit soggy for our liking but it was still good. We spent about 600 pesos before tip. A little pricier than most taco places but sooooo worth it. We also did get 8 tacos! read more

The Mrs. and I had lunch today at Maria Baja. It was an adventure getting there. Yelp had Maria Baja listed on Francisco Rodriguez which is entirely inaccurate. Here is the correct address: Carr. Costera a Barra Navidad 496 Alta Vista, 48380 Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco You'll see the sign off the side of the road. You can't miss it. If you use Yelp to get there it will take you to an abandoned building on a street that is cut in half by a high rise condo complex. Maria Baja isn't much to look at. It isn't festooned with Mexican decor look a lot of the other taco places. The menu is posted on the wall and seating is ample. Tacos, tostadas, burritos, and poke bowls are some of the many offerings. The Mrs. and I both ordered the Baja Pescado and Baja Camarones tacos. We both enjoyed the shrimp more than the fish. There was just something about the garnish that mingled better with the shrimp than the fish. The Mrs. also ordered the Tostada de Camarones. She loved it. As far as price goes we couldn't have gotten a better deal. Two sodas, four tacos, and one tostada came out to about $20 U.S. dollars including tip. The tacos weren't small so you're not going to leave Maria Baja hungry. read more

the taco are still great, but the size is smaller than what i had from before. also i didnt remember the service is that bad. the lady who was serving us literally gave us a whole lot attitude, first she served us half bowl of the chips when we finishes she refill unwillingly and gave us side eyes. even we told her that we would pay. we had our initial order and I ordered one more shrimp taco, she was like " is that all? " feels like we are asking too much to get add on. it's really crazy how bad we were treated. read more

Big letdown after seeing all the stellar reviews. While the food quality was high, the portions were wee compared to the price. By the way, no prices are listed on the menu so you just get surprised when the bill comes. The selection of salsas was phenomenal, but the accompanying chips were broken in tiny pieces and mostly blackened/burned. Server's attitude was jaded and impatient. Very local taco place near Zona Romantica. We had a bit of time finding it, but once there were pleased with the various taco offerings. Sadly they were out of tuna the day we came, but there was still plenty else to try. Menu is written in English on a large board so you can see everything there with ease, though it didn't matter as our waiter spoke fluent english. Prices were incredibly inexpensive. Baja Fish Taco = great, crispy outside with soft, juicy inside Al Pastor Fish = flaky in all the good ways. Porkbelly Chicharron & Shrimp = personal favorite. This place is outstanding! Located right on the side of the Mismaloya Highway next to Kiosko. It has outdoor seating and a bar around the open kitchen. It is a small place. I'm sure they get busy with how good their food is. We tried a few items: Pork belly chicharons with shrimp aguachiles. It had a nice deep fried crunch texture in a lite and refreshing Serrano paste. Octopus tostada: the octopus was tender and moist. On a generous helping of sliced onions and tomatoes. Baja shrimp taco: this tempura fried shrimp taco with red cabbage has an almost Dijon mustard sauce on it. It was flavorful. Tropical Shrimp tostada: many and shrimp in a lime-based sauce made this dish amazing! Seared tuna taco: a delicious sweet sauce over nice and fresh seared tuna! Believe the hype! Came here for lunch after a full day of work and it was truly exceptional. Laid back vibe and personal service . This is my absolute favorite place to eat! Jimaca Cameron tacos are my favorite, then Atun Mango tostada, the Baja Pescado and their Pollo tacos. My eleven year old daughter request to eat there every day they are open, 3 Jicama Camaron tacos for her! We've been here 3 weeks and have eaten there probably 5 of the 6 days they are open. Closed on Mondays. The staff is fantastic, Enrique opens the car door for us every time we pull up, Juan the owner is a delight, and the other guys are super nice (sorry I forgot their names)! One of the best taco joints in PV. If you like seafood they have some amazing tacos and tostadas. Great presentation and served with an array of 9 different salas to try, from sweet, savory, spicy and everything in between. A must try is the tuna and mango tostada and rock shrimp tostada. We went there yesterday after reading this great reviews. Our tacos had 2 thin not more than 1 inch long piece of fish on it with some sauce, no veggetables. The shrimp had 2 small shrimp again nothing else on it. We clearly were robbed. We paid 495 for this. We actually had to go somewhere else and eat , because we were still hungry. read more

We walked from the Malecon to this place and we're dessapointed when we arrived and found out they didn't have beer; but after tasting the first fish tostada, we forgot about the beer. Though it is on a busy highway, the road noise may interfere with quiet dining but doesn't interfere with the excellent meal. The jimica shrimp tacos are a pleasant surprise. The shrimp is breaded and deep fried to a crispy crunch topped with a tasty sauce. It is all placed on a thinly sliced jicama tortilla. The ceviche tostado, along with a list of others, is fresh and delicious. There is an array of homemade salsas to accompany the meal.
