Upon being seated, the staff promptly served chips, water, and what we suspected of being hand-made salsa with fresh ingredients including cilantro. We ordered both an alcoholic and a non-alcoholic beverage, and both were delivered quickly. The alcoholic drink, a handcrafted Pure Gold Margarita, stood out for its exceptional quality and balanced mix, which I found impressive as a former mixologist. For our meal, we selected the #23 dinner and Chipotle Enchiladas along with a side tostada. Each dish had fresh flavor and satisfying texture, and the lunch portions were generously oversized, which I appreciated. In comparison to other establishments that have raised prices while lowering quality, this restaurant offers food that is well worth the cost in today's market. It took a decent amount of time for our waitress to come and take our order (she was new and in training) but our order came out pretty quickly. I got the Macho Burrito with green chili. Sat upstairs at the bar with Sebastian as our bartender. He was quick to greet us and got our drinks right away which were excellent! We came here as a family. Our neighbors recommended Maria Bonita. I gave it a 2 because The interior was pleasing the mariachi band was fun and the margaritas were good. My issue was my dinner. We had a margarita and chips and salsa. I ordered a chili rellano. I have had wonderful chili Rellanos at other authentic Mexican restaurants. But here I was served a burrito. I went on my phone to review the menu and it did not say rellano burrito. I told the waiter I ordered a Rellano and he said it was "inside the burrito " when I opened the burrito it was full of cheese and a sad strip of chili. I was disappointed. I did not eat it . The waiter never came to ask about our meal and when my kids were done he quickly came and removed the plates and never made eye contact with me. My sons enjoyed their burritos. But for the money there are too many authentic Mexican restaurants locally to return here for cheese burritos called Rellanos read more

Dang! I was all excited to finally try this place. It was a bit of a bummer. The food was ok. But the service was not good. We came for my mom's 90th (!) birthday. From the moment we sat down our waiter was pretty dismissive. He definitely didn't want to be there. He barely gave us time to review the menu book. And seemed a bit put out when we asked for more time. Mom is 90. I takes her a while to make a decision. I had the 2 item combo which would have been better if they weren't so heavy on the salt. But the food was piping hot so that was good. Mom had the shrimp salad which was drenched in dressing. Pro tip: ask for the dressing on the side. I asked for boxes for mom's salad and my beans, rice and tamale (very good btw). They brought 1 box and took my leftovers away! I told them I wanted to take mine home with me so the waiter was kind enough to bring me a fresh tamale with beans and rice in a take out box. Overall the food was good despite being heavy on the salt. If the service was a little bit nicer I would definitely be back. But given tight budgets I can't afford to go where I don't feel very appreciated. I can get good food with great service with a smile at another Mexican restaurant in town. Went to the new Mexican restaurant, Maria Bonita, last weekend. The place has a nice atmosphere, and the service we received from Miguel was excellent. However, my family and I were very disappointed with the food and drinks. We ordered the Camarones a la Diabla, which only came with six shrimp--even though the menu show there would be more. We also ordered a Molcajete, but it was dry and lacked sauce. When I asked for sauce on the side, it turned out to be a plain tomato sauce with no flavor or spiciness. I also ordered a frozen strawberry margarita, which was very sour and didn't taste like strawberry or alcohol at all--it felt like I was just drinking a slushy. Unfortunately, despite the great service, the food and drinks didn't meet our expectations I cannot say this a authentic Mexican Food Restaurant. read more

This place is great! Beautiful decor, and art. Atmosphere, service (thank you, Rocky!), and food. So many new things to try, and "the usuals". We were there for happy hour but instead it was gauge hour. The waiter told us the tacos were $3.50 a piece but the bill came back with them at 4.15. Maria Bonita is is truely an amazing place to visit. The building is spectacular, welcoming and very open. The unfortunate thing is that we found the food to be just OK. The retaurant is quite pricy so I feel it is OK to hold them to a higher standard. On our visit last night, I found Fajitas (which I like to use as a basic standard for a mexican place) to be without flavor. Other people in our party had Mole Enchiladas and they were again just OK and lacking in flavor. My son had the Enchilada Plate and it was quite good (presentation and flavor). The Shrimp salad was suprisingly good and quite refreshing. As for service, our server was outstanding despite having to send one entre back four times to get all refried beans and no rice. On the whole we collectively found Maria's namesake to be good but not up to the prices that we paid. Bring your fat wallet. Our meal for six was about $350. read more
