I was told it "should be covered by insurance" and that I'd only pay the difference, so I agreed to move forward. At checkout, I paid $350 and was told I'd be reimbursed after insurance was billed. Later, I found out my insurance didn't cover it at all. My concern wasn't that insurance denied the claim, it was that I was led to believe my coverage had been verified. Had I known I would likely be responsible for the full cost, I would have waited until I was financially ready. I asked if they could offer a discount given the misinformation, but after more than two months of trying to reach the manager, I was told there was nothing they could do because I had received the service. What disappointed me most was the lack of accountability and willingness to address my concerns. I ended up canceling my follow-up appointment and won't be returning. For example the doctor told his staff to conduct a CT scan. Never quoted a price. After I was told it cost almost $1000 but that I'd be charged 50% of their earlier lower price (almost $200). And they proceeded to bill my dental insurance the entire nearly $1000 for the imaging (which my insurance denied). I'm scheduled for extraction and implant early next year but when I asked for the cost I was told they need to calculate it and let me know. I'm still waiting 3 weeks later. I like Dr Tassone as a dentist but there have been times from visit to visit that his diagnosis changes. I don't want to change dentists but now getting teeth cleaning elsewhere. I'm aware opinions can change and different dentists offer entirely different treatment options. What I don't appreciate are my dental insurance benefits getting wiped out before I can blink twice.
