Still pricy, still tasty Gone a few more times over the year or so. It's a good bakery, stuff is always fresh and the flavors in each of their cupcakes, muffins, breads, and other misc bakery items is present and forward. They know that they are good, and charge accordingly. Given that there's no direct competition in a 10 mile radius (and I would argue even past that 10 mile radius the pickings are slim) the price is justifiable for the quality you get. As someone who treks a lot around the state, I find that there are many bakeries that do similar if not better items for comparable if not lower prices. But to ask someone to drive 30-60 minutes just to get something a couple bucks cheaper that's tastes about the same? It's a hard sale. I will say that Luanne's is the best in that area of the state, not including the small boutique places that are well off the beaten path. I still come here for the view and ambiance, but I don't order much of their food. read more

Luann's is a bakery that is obviously well loved in the Ellington area. They have (1) a primary bakery, coffee, cafe location; (2) a presence at the Ellington Farmers Market, and (3) at least one express location affiliated with a grocery store in the area. Stylistically, I'd call Luann's an elegant country bakery with a focus on cupcakes. Their pickle cupcake has some fame in CT and I think Big E circles. I tried it after my recent visit. I thought it worked. Sweet, but not to sweet. A bit of dill. Fresh texture. I even ate the pickle on top, which was probably not my favorite part. LOL. I wouldn't order it again, but you shouldn't be worried about trying it. I also had a black iced coffee, which was pretty good. Inspirational message written on top. Nice touch. I wasn't expecting to see Luann's again at the Farmer Market, but I actually got bread stuffed with an egg there. The egg was cooked a bit more than I like, but it was decent. Stopped in today to grab a bite with some friends! Got the snickerdoodle cold brew which was so good I will be purchasing a large next time instead of a medium. Ate the Thanksgiving panini which really hit the spot. Ample filling, and the soup of the day, the cheeseburger chowder was great as well especially during a rainy day. Great, family run business who gives back to their community. Josh the owner is just a great human. We love to support local whenever we can. Items can be pricey, but you get what you pay for. Some of my favorites: oatmeal bread, blueberry pancake cupcakes, strawberry rolls, early riser rolls - to name a few. We also love their apple crumble pie, their pepperoni picnic bread, and their sugar cookie pie around the holidays! For me the coffee is hit or miss - sometimes it's amazing other times I don't love it ... maybe have to do with the syrups I choose to be honest. They currently have a bakery location in Ellington and an additional drive thru location down the road in Ellington, a location in Stafford, and will be opening in Hartford in 2026. You can also find them at the outdoor Ellington farmers markets on Saturdays. Highly recommend checking them out. Their staff are all beyond pleasant as well. So when I got home I realized I received someone else's order. Also, the turkey sandwich is way overpriced for what you get. All in all not a good first experience. I had heard some really good things about LuAnn's, and they were on point....did not disappoint. Stopped in today, and was impressed by the cleanliness, all of the displays, the cozy / inviting dining area, and (especially) my choice of pastry. I had a pumpkin cream cheese roll. It was gooeyness personified, and hit all the right notes. Embarrassed to write, I practically inhaled it. I understand they have a booth at the BigE, where one of their specialties is a fried pickle cupcake. For me, the Nellie McKnight is something that's on my radar for the next visit. What's good? The coffee and most of the desserts. What's whack? The prices going up but the food quality going down!! I went as a first time customer and that should've been the last time. But I kept thinking it would get better! It hasn't, so I'm done! You can get better tasting coffee, food that isn't tasteless and bland, and pastries that aren't dried out for MUCH CHEAPER PRICES!!! Also, any business that only hires young girls is weird to me!! And they're all terrible, low talking, no smiling girls that never know the menu at that! They can never answer questions. It's like someone just pulled in some local community college kids that needed volunteer hours working a drive through and they're just doing their time. Seriously, there's just one chipper blonde, probably someone's granddaughter who's nice... she still barely knows the menu, but pleasant. As a first timer, you will for sure get over charged and played because you don't know the menu and the "game" of how to order! It's annoying! Lose the drive through! I avoid this place!!. This place is a hidden gem. Everything I had from hee was really good. I took out a couple of lunch items. MariAna on Wecka was my favorite. Chicken fiesta wrap was also really good. Soup of the day was cheesy chicken enchillada soup. Hot pistachio white mocha latte was a good choice for coffee. I went for a small triple berry crumble pie from their bakery. That was an excellent choice. I finished it in a single sitting. I also took out barbeque cheddar meatloaf bake from their frozen section. It baked out to be a really nice entree. read more

I love that you get a nice warm mug to fill your coffee while there. They also have nice cold infused water available near the utensils. When you walk in, you're in line to first pass the incredible bakery items including the cupcakes that are calling your name. Hahaa... You ate greeted with a smile and order any of their amazing menu items. For this visit I ordered an iced latte and a scramble bowl. Asked for all the veggies and had my choice of cheese and meat if I wanted. I enjoyed brunch with a close friend. The environment is inviting and comfortable. One of my favorite things is the board near the door where you can buy others a meal or single items and leave an index card up for them to take. Such a sweet idea. Warms my heart to see that. Luann's is good. It's part bakery and part cafe where they serve breakfast and lunch. The lunch menu isn't huge but there's plenty of good things to pick from. I had the buffalo chicken wrap which comes with your choice of a salad, soup or chips. The I had the salad and both were good. The others I was with also enjoyed their lunches. The place is fairly small and I'm told on weekends can get quite crowded. Prices aren't cheap but fair for what you get. You order at the counter and then someone brings your food but no waiter or waitress service. The employees were very nice and helpful. We all got a snack from the bakery to take home and those were good too. Overall if you're in the area this is a good place to stop for a bite to eat and pick up a pie or a snack. read more

Was reeled in by their pop up shop trying gluten free cinnamon rolls for the first time, so of course I had to check out their home base in Ellington. I don't normally eat gluten free things but after having that cinnamon roll you would've never known. It was delicious! Soft and just the right amount of sweetness. At the main shop I ended up trying their gluten free chocolate cake pop which was delicious. Was like a flourless chocolate cake. I definitely need to get more of those. I also really enjoyed their gluten free cowgirl cookies. I highly recommend them! All the staff was very friendly when I went. I found out they are also at the farmers market in the area as well I believe every Saturday. They have a great selection of baked goods even homemade meals to go. We stopped in for a quick coffee but ended up getting something to eat. We got the breakfast panini and the breakfast burrito. Both were absolutely delicious and very fresh. I love visiting local places in my state to try their yummy baked goods and coffee. I'm usually in the Tolland area in the evening and could never make it because of my schedule. One day I decided to drive 20 min from home to try it. The place is very cute and has a great selections of baked goods and breakfast foods and lunch. I went with a friend to catch up and write some letters to some friends. I ordered their egg bowls with a side a fruit. I liked that the food had real fresh ingredients. The latte was delicious. They do offers unlimited coffee if you buy one and decide to stay inside to enjoy the views. Their cinnamon rolls was good but wasn't over the moon it was a little smaller and not as gooey, but overall delicious. We end up staying for lunch and I I build my own salad with chicken. Again, happy with my salad and enjoyed it. We sat towards the back near the fire place but I was still a little cold but not freezing. Side note: bathroom was an ice box but it's winter. read more

When our order came out, it was for dine in.. that wouldn't have been a problem if they had tables opened. They had to bring back our orders to wrap it up so that took up a bit of time as well. The sandwiches had two slices of deli meat and was tiny.. definitely something I could've made at home had I known. Definitely not worth it at all. I've loved Luann's baked good for years. Highlight of my mornings at the Ellington Farmers Market. When they opened the café, I couldn't wait to go. And then one thing after another happened and, bam, it's 2021. How'd that happen?? Well, the (self-imposed) pressure was on to just GO. We pulled up about noon on a beautiful weekday. The place was clearly busy, but nobody was eating outside. Score! We had our choice of outdoor seating. But first we popped in to order. What a lovely shop! Every nook and cranny and surface was neatly stocked with a variety of interesting, yummy sounding/looking things. The menu looked enticing, and we settled on two Grownup Grilled Cheese sandwiches, which came with a choice of side salad, chips, or soup of the day. The line went quickly, and everyone observed the current safety protocols. The staff were so lovely, and the price of a fab lunch was fantastic ($20?). We went outside to eat and, wow, still had our pick of seating. And what lovely seating it is:well-spaced tables, chairs, and picnic tables. Not too many, not too few. All overlooking farmland to the west. We quickly figured out why nobody was outside that particular afternoon--gusts of wind. Eating lunch became a bit of a juggling act but we loved sitting out in the sun, though we surely looked nuts. You know how side salads can be a mundane blob of iceberg with an anemic tomato slice tossed on top? A disgrace to salads everywhere. Not here at Luann's!! My salad was a mix of spring greens with fresh veggies and a house dressing (sweet garlic) that dazzled my tastebuds. I needed only half the dressing & took the other half home to add to a salad at dinner. Divine. The Grown Up Grilled Cheese was absolutely fantastic. The cranberry walnut sunflower bread was fresh, chewy goodness. The five-cheese spread was a gustatory delight. And the bacon? There's bacon and there's baaaaaaaaconnnnnn. Yeah, it was the latter. (I am basically a vegetarian who does have a few slices of bacon in a sammy when it looks really, really good). We were both extremely satisfied, and I now have a favorite elevated grilled cheese lunch spot! read more

Good service. I had ordered easter sunday dessert and rolls. The rolls were on point and just amazing. We also have ordered the flourless chocolate cake. Which my sister had. She enjoyed it and said it was super rich. I had peach crumb pie. So I can't say it was the best or favorite peach pie I have tasted. The crumb on top was very soggy. And peach filling tasted too sweet and had inconsistent taste. My brother-in-law ordered the apple pie but he didn't eat it while I was there so I'm not sure what his opinion is on it. read more

So I lived in Vernon, CT for a few years and loved going to the Ellington farmers market around the corner every weekend. Every time without fail, I had to get a chocolate zucchini bread, an iced coffee and a muffin from Luann's! I remember seeing their booth grow bigger and bigger every year. The lines were always wrapped around the market and for a good reason! I was so happy to see their storefront come to life in 2017, and now they have a new drive-through location! It's located at the Big Y Express across from the Big Y in Ellington and I checked it out the other day I got a honey cinnamon oat milk latte, one of my favorites recently, and my BFF got a caramel cold brew Both were amazing! We wish we didn't have lunch already, otherwise we would've picked up a sandwich or their pulled pork mac and cheese Luann's always makes a point to work with other local restaurants in the area too. If you have a @modernmilkman subscription, you can get their cookies, granola, Wecka bread, or soups! Luanns was once good before they open to multiple locations including the drive-through. I've continuously gotten extremely small portions or over cooked food as the years gone by . Today I paid $15 for a tiny wrap that had no more than four tiny pieces of chicken about the size of my thumb now some crumbled burnt bacon, some lettuce and some tomato. read more

Cozy cafe with homemade baked goods, a bunch of coffee options, and both a breakfast and lunch menu. The space is fairly small, but it is very cute and the employees are incredibly friendly. They also have a giant parking lot + a couple makeshift seats outside as well. I came with my mom and we got 2 different baked goods, a breakfast wrap, a regular coffee, and a salted caramel latte between us. The baked goods were very tasty, especially their cinnamon roll. The breakfast wrap was also solid. Their coffee...not so great. My late's flavoring was not mixed up at all so I didn't taste any of it until I got to the bottom, at which point it was overwhelmingly salty. The guy who served us was new however, so I think he will figure out how to make them soon. I think so because when I tried a frozen chinamon bun latte from their drive through location and it was fantastic. 6.5/10 read more
