Very good Mexican food. I knew it had to be good when they had what looked to be hundreds of dollars of takeout. First they brought out salsa and chips. Chips were standard and I did not eat the salsa because it had cilantro in it, but it looked watery. I started with the empenanda..it was amazing. They are huge, three is a meal. The outside was so crunchy​ that the neighborhood could here me take a bite (in a good way). My main course was chicken in mole sauce, which it is rare to find a good mole, but this is a great one. Wow! Mariachi Grill totally took me by surprise. It carries authentic quality and ambiance. I don't come to this area often, but I was pleased with the service & food. The salsa provided and guacamole were super tasteful and not overbearing of any specific flavor. My carnitas tacos were delicious, I ordered the app because they didn't have lunch specials on the weekend.If you bring your own liquor, they can make you a sangria or margarita pitcher. I was really excited to try this place. The service was okay but the food wasn't very flavorful. To start we ordered a chicken quesadilla and guacamole which was good but very plain. So I wanted to ask for hot sauce, lime, cilantro or something, honestly anything but I couldn't get the servers attention. For entrees we ordered chicken mole and carnitas tacos. The mole was good but the carnitas were very fatty, like the meat needed to be cooked down more. It was also cubes pieces of meat which I never experienced before normally it is shredded and crispy. First off, I want to enjoy this restaurant. It's a nice local spot I want to support for Mexican food. My main issue is everything we ordered tonight was bland, almost no seasoning. Steak fajitas, guacamole, Pico de Gallo, all bland. I've actually seen this in some other reviews, so it doesn't seem to be an isolated incident. I've personally tried them before as well with the same experience and decided tonight to try them again. Same thing. I sure hope they take this to heart and spice things up a bit, literally. WOW you would have never guessed this barely noticeable, tiny Mexican restaurant would be one of the best I've been too! Before we could open our beers (it's BYOB) they had chips and salsa on the table... my favorite kind of place-nice and prepared! The food took a little bit to cook, so we had to wait, but it was worth it! You could tell all the ingredients were fresh, and not sitting around. I ordered a chicken burrito, which was mostly just chicken, cheese, and rice. I didn't really taste the tomatoes or avocado, which I would have enjoyed more, but it was still tasty! My mom tried the enchiladas and her friend got the empanadas. The empanadas were AMAZING!! They were nice and big, juicy, and had just the right amount of crunch! We all took half our meals home because they are not shy with the amount of food they give you! However the $2.95 charge for the tiny side of sour cream is a different story... The portions are on point for the price tag. I enjoyed the chicken tostadas a lot. The torillas on the tacos were really good. I didn't love the carnitas meat though. I would get the tacos again, but with chicken. They give you verde and red sauce on each table. Those are fabulous! I finally got to visit this place and got the Tostadas that were labeled as "appetizers" but were big enough to be an entree. As the most picky eater I know, I rate places on their ability to make me eat a meal without picking at it or removing unwanted veggies, but I pretty much inhaled the tostadas. They were able to accommodate vegetarians and made us cheese enchiladas in red sauce. The red sauce had a little kick to it which give it a little edge. I was not to impressed with the chips and salsa they provide upon sitting. I believe the salsa could use more flavor but i ate the chips with the red sauce they provided. Mariachi Grill is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. My review is based on coming to this restaurant numerous times and takeout experiences. Parking is a little tough. Located next to the Kingsland train station in Lyndhurst. The decor is colorful and really nice. The restaurant is clean and the staff is always very friendly. The owner is always walking around greeting tables and making sure everyone is happy with the service. The restaurant is BYOB...what else could you ask for? The food is delicious and inexpensive. The fresh guacamole with hot chips and salsa is off the hook! A nice big bowl of guacamole with endless chips is a nice way to start the meal. The entrees are always delicious. Chicken quesadillas, chicken or beef enchiladas, empanadas are excellent. Always fresh, full of flavor, and nice sized portions. We had the churros for dessert last night. I was stuffed from dinner but couldn't help myself. So good! A few months ago we did the take out. It didn't take long for delivery and the food was hot. We were missing an item and they came back within minutes. Awesome Job! Last night it took our food almost an hour to come out. It was a little annoying and the people next to us came in after us and got their food first. Normally this would make me give them one less star but everyone is allowed a hiccup. The staff was very nice and professional about it. They repeatedly apologized and brought us a fresh bowl of chips and salsa and free refill of sodas. I've eaten about everything on the menu in the past year. Still say hands down best Mexican in the area. The prices are fair for the quality. Delivery is reasonable to quick, and they now have a very cool pay with card at your front door option-love this as I have reading the number to someone over the phone and then my info is on some scrap of paper at the restaurant. Love this so much. Tonight I'm having the chicken flautas with their amazing green sauce on the side. Hubby got his usual chicken tacos and the sounds of pleasure emanating from him are kinda sexy. You know the food is good when plain of chicken tacos can make a grown man groan with pleasure. Yum was uttered at least a half dozen times between us. Tried the shrimp quesadillas - large portions (although it only came with 3 pieces which was kind of odd but enough to fill me up so whatever) and the shrimp was fresh and delicious. They did come with peppers and onions which I didn't love (don't think it was specified on the menu) but the great quality of the shrimp made up for it. We were in town for the night, and I learned about this place from all the great Yelp reviews. We decided to give it a try. One of the Yelp reviewers mentioned its BYOB, so we went down the street to Lindhurst and picked up a bottle of wine before going. The server was very nice, and all night delivered great service. The chips, salsa and guacamole she delivered at the start, were excellent. The atmosphere is nice, fairly quiet and on the street. We were delivered our entrees, the Cielo Mar y Tierra and the Cammerones a la mexicana. For both of the entrees the shrimp was excellent. Butterflied with a garlic glaze. The chicken was tender, flattened but also very good. Overall we were very happy with the meals, but the steak was bad. The steak looked appealing, and when I cut into it , appeared to be cooked medium rare as I had asked. Unfortunately the flavor tasted like the steak had turned, and was very gristly. Came here with friends for brunch on a Sunday. We were immediately greeted by the friendly hostess/ waitress. The menu stated a brunch menu is coming soon, so we ordered from the regular menu. I ordered the steak fajitas and the portion was huge for the price. The steak was well seasoned and not overcooked. My friend asked for a vegetarian enchilada and the waitress was able to fulfill that request. Another friend ordered the chicken tacos off the appetizer menu and the portion was sufficient to be an entree. It had cactus in it, something you won't find unless you go to an authentic Mexican restaurant. The foods were so delicious and the portion was so large that we all went home with leftovers. Although we were full, we managed to squeeze in room for dessert. We opted for the American dessert of lava cake inside of something more Mexican inspired. It was still delicious. We were very excited to have found this place through Yelp. However, it said the place has a private parking lot but we couldn't find it. There was an extended driveway next to it with four cars so I guess that was it. We got lucky with street parking because it was filled when we left the place. read more

Based on the yelp reviews we decided to try this place. Hard to find a good Mexican restaurant. The weather was beautiful so we decided to sit outside which is adorably set up for dining. We ordered the steak fajitas, NY strip, steak tacos and steak empanadas. The fajitas were some of the best I've had but needed some salt - the meat was SO tender, onions & peppers cooked perfectly. The NY strip was a large steak with a nice fat cap which made it very tender. Steak tacos were fine. The fajitas were definitely the star of the meal and were shared by 2 of us with leftovers. None of us like the steak empanadas - needed seasoning and there was something in them that none of us cared for. I was not a fan of the rice - it tasted almost floral to me or something. The complimentary chips and salsa were a hit although, again, salsa needed salt and definitely could've used more flavor. But very fresh. The service was great - extremely friendly! The biggest negative was there is only street parking which, on a Friday night, was difficult to find. It is BYO. I would return for the steak fajitas for sure. read more
