Pretty quiet at the downtown location for a Friday night at 7:00. Had a touch of Déjà vu when we walked in...on the way down Washington Ave from our loft, we were talking about how the last time we went to El Burro Loco before the downtown location closed, it was the middle of the summer & the a/c was out...walked in to Rosalitita's & lo and behold, the air was out. Hope that this is not a premonition of what might be to come for this location! We were seated right away and there were some fans going which made the dining area a little warm but still decently comfortable considering it was 90 degrees outside. Chips and salsa are complementary here as they are at most Mexican restaurants. Chips are thin and light & the salsa is flavorful but without any heat. I ordered the carne asada quesadilla. It comes with pico, guacamole, & sour cream on the side. The quesadilla came out hot as did all of the other entrees. The portions for this entree are huge. It is a large burrito size flour tortilla folded in half and cut into 4. It could easily be split between two people especially if you order a side of rice/ beans to go with it. The pico & guacamole tasted great & were excellent accompaniments to the quesadilla. Service was good & friendly as well! read more

It's been about five years since my last review, and unfortunately the atmosphere just isn't what it used to be. Rosalita's was once one of those spots where you could always count on seeing your favorite bartender, familiar faces, and a lively crowd around the bar. These days it feels much quieter and lacks some of the energy that made it a regular stop for me.During our visit, the food was good and our bartender provided great service, which is why I'm still giving it 4 stars. However, the dining room could have used a little more attention. Even during the transition from lunch to dinner, there were several dirty tables--around 4 or 5--that sat uncleared for a while, making the restaurant feel a bit neglected. Overall, it's still a decent experience with solid food and friendly service, but I'm not quite sure it's earned its way back into my weekly rotation just yet. I'm hopeful they'll continue improving because I'd love to see this place return to what it once was. read more

We went in earlier today, the food took an hour to come out. Apparently there was some issue in the kitchen, waitress didn't even bother to let us know. I was advised by the manager that they were not prepared for a holiday rush. The food was mid, my barbacoa tasted like mole, and my partners burrito had a bug in the salad. I love Rosalita's I have been coming to this place for years no problem. unfortunately my last two visits haven't been good from customers taking pictures of me to the barentender intentionally mixing my liqour! the customer taking my picture was a easy fix. the bartender mixing my drink cannot happen! the bartender served me a casa rep margarita i watched her make it correctly i know what casa taste like. my second drink she make with termana blanco i did not drink that but prior to her serving the drink i watched her make it with termana and i told her no she remade the drink but never poured it in a new cup and still served me the original incorrect drink that was also mixed with a liqour that i did not need or want. she switched my liqour from casa migos rep to termana blanco. so after i tasted me incorrect drink for a second time and saw that she never even poured the correct drink in a cup i told her this is still incorrect she said "do you want me to add some casa on top" i said absolutely not remake my drink in my face and she did and it was correct. after that she left the correct drink that she made the first time sitting in the cup all night so i switched to taking the exotica rep shots easy. these mistakes cannot happen. read more

Giving three very solid stars because the service is wonderful. Food and drinks are just what you want. Zero complaints. Their tortilla chips are house made I believe and the salsa is yummy. I've had enchilada there three times. House wine by the glass is good and happy hour bev options are affordable and worth it. My I my complaint, which isn't a complaint, is that it seems a lot of the people who sit at the bar are in the restaurant industry. As someone who used to work in the industry, I find it annoying because it feels liken at work. But as someone who knows what that means, it provides more kudos to the Rosalita's. I recommend. Sunshine was our server and she was amazing! Friendly and patient with a full section including a large group. It was just two of us. The place is very kitschy. Big gaudy decorations that are dusty. This is a chain and the food was basic. The fresh chips were delicious and that is about it. I wouldn't say the food was bad, just very basic and not worthy of the calories. Absolutely terrible experience. The bartenders were smoking with patrons while working at the bar, blowing the smoke even onto the people eating there. The smoking caused the entire restaurant to smell like smoke. Then our food arrived with huge hairs in it that obviously was not ours. Just how I like it! We had a team event and decided to come here for lunch. I was worried because we had a party of 7, came during the lunch rush and found out they didn't take reservations. My worries were put to ease when they were able to promptly seat us with no issues. I believe Tai was our server and she was excellent! She was efficient with the timing of our refills, paid attention to details and honored our requests, and was very pleasant! I was also impressed with how quickly our food came out, considering our party size and that we came during the lunch rush. When it comes to Mexican restaurants, I usually have a few go-to dishes. I don't have a favorite dish from Rosalita's just yet, but this one is def. up there. The rice was more flavorful than I could have imagined and I loved the heaping scoop of guacamole. Let me say, you can never have too much guac! As for margs, I went with something different and got the sparkling margarita. I wasn't sure how well sparkling wine and a margarita would pair, but they made it work! It had a good burst of flavor. If you want to be disappointed with service and your food order, this is the place. The servers act like they don't want to be there. My enchiladas werected supposed to have Rancherita sauce, I was given some white jalepeno crema. The quesadilla came with NONE of the sides - pico de gallo, guacamole or anything. I wanted to like this place, but unfortunately I am majorly disappointed. We ate here for lunch at around 2 PM on a Saturday. The inside was nicely decorated and very clean. Other than that, I don't have any other compliments to give. To start, I saw random non-employee women walking around the restaurant with the servers, which seemingly distracted them from their tables. Nearly all of the employees were inattentive and unfriendly to guests. The worst part of this experience was the beef tacos. The beef tasted like straight cigarette ash. I'm not what if it's the seasoning they use or if someone was actually smoking a cigarette around the food, but I seriously couldn't even finish a bite. The cigarette taste lingered in my mouth for awhile. Additionally, the tortilla of the cheese quesadilla was completely dry-- almost a stale taste. I'm typically not picky about Mexican food, but there's seriously much better options for tacos and quesadillas in St. Louis, and for a much better value. The pricing of the entire menu is confusing and overpriced. A burrito is less expensive than three basic soft tacos that don't even come with a side rice and beans. The prices just don't make sense. Our total for a plate of three beef tacos and a cheese quesadilla plate was $29. What a complete waste of money! read more

Upon initial inspection the meal looks good. First taste I would say it's suitable. The rice is a little bit too mushy and congealed. The beans are good. The chili is quite good and I wouldn't say that I really like the chicken soft taco so much the ambience is pretty OK in the sense that, it definitely has a Mexican/Southwest flare. The biggest thing for me is the music isn't entirely too loud which I very much appreciate. The prices are about what you would expect for eating anywhere on Washington Avenue downtown. I will start by saying I'm very critical of restaurant staff these days since there are very few and a lot are not great. My husband and I went to Rosalitas on a weeknight. Our waitress, Alexis R greeted us and had our chips and salsa right away. She was super busy but she was on top of my every need, not even knowing my name expectations. First, this place has ***the best tortilla chips!*** We get them from the supermarket all the time and finally got a chance to visit after we attended a board game night at the St Louis Public Library. They are nearly paper-thin without any excess oil at all. Their salsa is really good, too. Next, the atmosphere is very neat. The front bar area is very industrial trendy, the back area is a casual industrial chic, and there's a second floor that, by virtue of the limited seating bei g separated from the rest of the dining area, is semi-privare. Finally, the food was excellent! My kid and I had the fish street tacos, I had cilantro coconut rice and beans and a house margarita, and the husband had a chimichanga. They were very good! I wish the fish wasn't shredded--it was decimated, really, making it impossible to not make a mess--but it was well-seasoned and had lots of toppings, including a spicy mango salsa, served on the side. The margarita was very balanced--not too sweet, not too sour--and they asked if I wanted salt, which I appreciate (I prefer a hald-rim). We stopped into Rosalita's after trying Imo's pizza and, as people from outside STL, needed a plan B for our dinner lmao. The outdoor eating area intrigued me and we were seated immediately on a Saturday night at 9pm. Their seating area is ideal for enjoying a few drinks and Mexican food on a summer evening. They have a really impressive margarita menu including all "shelves" of tequila, flavors, and sizes. I ordered the mango margarita, GF ordered pomegranate margarita, and they both arrived in a massive goblet that I could probably bathe in. They were SO GOOD but sweet. We had already eaten so we wanted to keep things light. I ordered the fried tostadas with fried corn tortillas, refried beans, pico de gallo, lettuce, and cheese. You had an option to add chicken, beef, carne asada, or shrimp, but I declined. The tortillas were crispy and vegetables refreshing. The refried beans were tasty. This did not taste overwhelmingly authentic but was enjoyable. It wasn't the best Mexican that I've had by a long shot, but it got the job done. Another table outdoors essentially had to beg for the check and it appeared that they had been waiting for a while for any server to come by but we did not have that issue. Our waiter was good about checking in on us and we didn't have to wait for anything. He also gave us to go cups for the rest of our gigantic drinks we weren't able to finish while sitting down. To go alcohol isn't a thing where I live and it's fucking awesome. This is a good place for catching up with friends over essentially any variety of margarita you could imagine. read more

I went to Rosalita's Cantina for lunch and ordered the Chicken Quesadillas. They were pretty good and a solid portion. I wish they had put the guac, sour cream, lettuce, and salsa in or on the quesadillas for me instead of making me do the work though. The $12 price was fair. The restaurant itself has lots of indoor seating and the service speed was good. The staff were also friendly. I will say that they set the AC temperature a bit too low though. Overall, Rosalita's Cantina is a standard Tex-Mex place with decent food although the quality is not particularly noteworthy. read more

I seriously was so upset when I receive my bill because they charged me $5 for substituting spinach for romaine lettuce without letting me know.
