Mexican place in Lihue? Interesting. When we are here for over a week, can't eat fish every day right? We decided to check place out. I started with a small strawberry margarita. Yum! We each ordered the craft tacos which comes in 2. My wife went with Ahi. I went with mahi mahi tacos. We both loved ours. It's interesting to eat ahi tacos but it was great! We were in and out fast. We love Mariachis--it's always a great place for a delicious meal! Our favorites are the carnitas plate and the carne asada tacos. They're also very accommodating with my dairy allergy, which I really appreciate, and they make a great margarita. My family and I have been coming here for the past couple of years, and it's always the same friendly staff who make us feel welcome every time. We always look forward to our next family dinner here. My family and I are vacationing in Kauai and we wanted to eat at a Mexican restaurant. Given that we live in Northern California (home to some of the best Mexican food in the US) we weren't expecting much. Mariachi's is a good spot if you want average / decent Mexican food and good service. Service: The staff here were supper courteous and they were attentive and helpful to our needs. Food: In general we weren't expecting much given where we live but we all liked the food. Here is what we ate: - Steak street tacos: My older son who is super picky had five of these and he ate every morsel which is to say he is picky and he LOVED IT. - Grilled Chicken Burrito: I had this. I would say it didn't have much of a kick but I did also only get chicken, refried beans, and pico de gallo inside. I had it smothered in chile verde - Spinach Enchiladas: My wife is a small eater and she said she liked it - I know she did because out of the two she had 1.5 (for reference usually she eats one). - Children's nuggets and curly fries: The curly fries were disappointing but my 9 year old liked the chicken nuggets. He didn't care for the fries (I tried them and didn't like them either) but he did finish my wife's rice and beans! Ambience: I'd say this is not a restaurant I'd say you go for ambience. read more

Aloha, I have ordered chicken nachos They gave me beef nachos by the time I got the order, It looks like slop cold disgusting I threw it away .. I ordered french fries, they gave me french fries with steak and white sauce and guacamole, which I did not order this I don't even eat steak. It was so disgusting. I can't even believe they're still in business. It came out about $84 with everything I ordered .. I ordered this through Uber Eats, I called the restaurant lady picked up I told her I got all the wrong order I don't think she believed me at first, but thank God everything is recorded on Uber Eats .. she asked me to come and she will give me the right order I wasn't able to come that's why I ordered through Uber Eats. We (party of 2) came for dinner at 8ish and were sat after a party of 18. Yes 18 people- all wanting separate checks. Didn't think anything about it. The server said she would put our food order in ASAP to get around the large party. Another group of 4 came in after us and about 30 mins later, that group got their food. The party of 18 all got their food. 1 hour later, we asked "where's our food" and they said "you didn't get your food?" Well, no we didn't. They asked "well do you still want your food?" At this point it was well after they actually closed so we said we're leaving. The manager was a total jerk and said "well you're not paying for anything... " what exactly would we be paying for?! Totally horrible experience and zero customer service. I guess since people are limited to options near the Marriot Vacations hotel so they can treat people like this. So it's nearly 10pm on a Sunday with zero food options now. We're shit outta luck now so will have to wait u to breakfast to eat now. Do not recommend if you actually plan on eating. read more

The food was freshly made; rice and beans were authentic; like you would find in LA or Phoenix. The outdoor seating is great; especially in the evening with the cool breeze. Great service and the food came out really quick. It helps if you have someone in the party who speaks Spanish but not required. The meals were good, not great. Everyone in the party loved their meals, my fajitas were cooked just a tad too long, the chicken and beef were dry. We celebrated a birthday and they do not disappoint - sombrero's, singing, and noice makers! The food at this establishment was a nice change of pace for our trip to Kauai. It was nice to change it out from fish and pulled pork to a nice Mexican meal. Honestly I wouldn't even give them 1 star. Returned home for a death in the family, and after an exhaustive day of funeral arrangements, decided to go to dinner and try to relax a little. Wanted to eat at Lilikoi's but the place was packed so the family decided to go to mariachis, which was next door. After being seated it took another ten minutes before anyone asked about orders. Family member ordered a pitcher of Margaritas, said okay then disappeared for over 15 minutes. Finally, the pitcher came. Again the waitress disappeared. Waited another fifteen minutes before our order was taken. Tables around us that came in later and ordered after us got their food before we did. Finally the food came. The server who delivered my meal slammed my plate down. The noise got everyone's attention. I'm not sure if the server was having a bad day. We didn't complain. We were just there waiting. I'll speak for myself. I paid $18 for two Seabass tacos. The size of the fish pieces were basically the size of my middle finger in each taco one piece that's all. At that point I was very hungry so I did eat it, but it was nothing to brag about. Needless to say our day ended on a sour note. I do not recommend this restaurant to anybody and was so disappointed. At the end of the meal, my sister ordered a flan to go. We stopped more than one server to ask if we could have the flan because they did add it to our bill but didn't materialize for another 20 minutes. I have never experienced such horrible service in any Mexican restaurant that I've gone to. This restaurant was not worth my time or money. I'll know not to come back here the next time I come home to visit family. read more

They brought us chips & salsa, not too hot so the kids could dig in also. My son got the surf n turf burrito and devoured it.
