Although you may miss this place as you drive by because it literally is a hole in the wall of a little strip mall of sorts you have to look for it. But as that description goes, typically the food found in a "hole in the wall" it is usually very delicious and they did not disappoint! The lady who took our orders was very friendly. I let her know that I was gluten-free which they were able to accommodate. We have the taco bowl or burrito bowl or a "bowl" as it's listed. You first choose burrito, bowl, or tacos, then choose your meat, which is ground beef, chicken, Carne Asada, fish, which happened to be shark today. Then you choose if you want sour cream and cheese, etc., guacamole, then choose Mexican, brown, or regular rice and then what type of beans, black or pinto. Then you choose your sauce, jalapeño mild up to very hot and then pico de gallo. Then you can choose your jarritos drink or the one canned guava drink. You get a size nice portion in a paper bowl covered with foil and it is delicious & seasoned to perfection. So they did not disappoint! Parking is tight to be mindful of those backing out. I came here based on a recommendation from our shuttle driver at the Kona airport, and unfortunately it was a miss this visit. I ordered the chicken burrito and my fiancé ordered the burrito bowl with fish. The bowl was served in one of those tiny Dixie paper bowls..for $17! He ate it all and was still hungry. My burrito had way more food than his bowl. Unfortunately their Mexican rice is really not it...the grains of rice are huge and flavorless. The only thing that saved my burrito was the shredded chicken. It was moist and flavorful, and they didn't skimp on the amount they put in the burrito which I truly appreciate since taking any bite without the meat was super bland. No seating available, this is all to go style. Parking is easy since there's a parking lot right in front. It's easy to locate and is situated next to a small grocery store. I recommend you go grab some banana bread from the grocery store for dessert, you won't regret it. All in all, I think there is better Mexican food on Kaua'i for the same price or less. read more

Food was hit and miss for us. The kid's burrito was absolutely delicious--well seasoned, comforting, and honestly better than expected. The marlin tacos, however, were very odd. They came as large, heavily charred chunks of fish with cheese. It didn't feel traditional Mexican at all, and the flavor was inconsistent--some bites worked, others didn't. This is literally a hole in the wall restaurant but the food they serve is pretty good. They don't skimp on the protein in the large burritos. We got a chicken quesadilla for our little one and she enjoyed the heavily marinated/seasoned chicken which was generously portioned for a kids meal. Although the meat (shrimp and fish) for our burrito was delicious the other toppings left some to be desired. I am not going to lie, I initially thought it was going to be ordinary like Chipotle because the ordered process seemed kind of similar. They do a amazing job with their meats. The steak and the chicken were very flavorful. This is some good Mexican food "for Hawaii". I feel like the rice and tortilla could be better. Especially the rice. The portions that they give are very generous and it will leave you filled up! I can see why they call it da crack because it literally is in between a crack of the building. Got to love the Hawaiian slang. The staff were very friendly and you can tell this place gets popular with both the locals and tourists because we saw a mixture of both people in the line. Their fish today was Ahi, and they serve it spiced and grilled. I also got them with mild salsa, Chipotle sour cream, cabbage on flour tortillas. Sides of Mexican or brown rice and black or pinto beans come with the order. The tacos were great. Good flavor, fresh fish, fresh toppings. I'd definitely get them again, really good. (My problem is my favorite tacos on the islands are in Waikoloa, on the Big Island, at Island Fish and Chips. Comparing any other fish tacos to them is not fair.) It took a few visits but I'd finally arrived at a conclusion: Mexican fare in Hawaii is sub-par, avoid it. When, on my most recent visit, I discovered the window in the wall that is the entirety of Da Crack, I was intrigued. The reviews were good from yelpers I trust, the steady stream of customers spoke volumes, and the combination of those things caused me to break my own rule. I ate Mexican food again, in Hawaii. But, as they say, past performance doesn't dictate future results. This time I was pleased with the offering. This is the best Mexican fare I've yet sampled in Hawaii. I opted for a carne asada bowl which was positively overflowing with ingredients. There were enough good tastes in the bowl that I was basically able to stop eating by the time I hit the rice (brown or Spanish are the two options); I was full and rice is always the part that interests me the least. The carne asada was different than what I generally favor, as were all the flavors, in general, but the combination of it all was still good. Bottom line? I was pleased. Da Crack is literally a window. All orders are to-go and there's no place to sit nearby. Still, it's the best Mexican fare I've found on the islands and the only such fare that I've not regretted after sampling. read more

I waited about 20ish minutes to order and another 15 mins for the food. Service is slow so just be prepared. I personally don't mind but this isn't a quick pick up place unless there's no line. I brought it back to my hotel to enjoy, which I did enjoy it very much, but I will say it's a bit pricey ($16.95 for shrimp bowl, +$3.49 for guac).
