K&K serves fresh delicious food. Definitely satisfied our cravings for garlic shrimp! The wait was not very long. It's a food truck but plenty of seating to enjoy your meal by the water. The area was clean and well kept! Prices are about typical.

    Ahi Katsu

The ahi katsu wasn't fully cooked disgusting. It wasn't fully cooked and the breading was soggy . The ahi color was wrong and it just plain didn't taste good. Not sure what happened with this truck but it's gone down hill. Will not ever eat here again. Not to mention this lunch was $30

The loco moco patty was pre bought and really hard. The eggs were gross and overcooked The Mac salad was too sweet. 20$ for Asian style food that says it's local. I'm sorry but localmocos DO NOT come with jasmine rice? what the hell. Do better if you are gonna use Hawaiian food to attract customers. Because it's really giving low budget wanna be L&L. For the people running this business do your homework on "Local" foods before serving locals this off brand cheap imitation of what Hawaiian/ local food should be 'cause it feels disrespectful to my culture and taste buds.

Such a great find! The beach is right behind the truck so you can take a little swim while you wait for food. Their seasonal refresher drinks are so delicious (went back 3 other times just for a drink) A wonderful place to stop for food!

I ordered the garlic shrimp plate. This was seriously the best shrimp I have ever eaten in my life! Super flavorful, cooked perfectly. The 5 rating is well deserved. Thank you for the best eating experience I've had on the island so far!

One of our favorite meals on the island! A must-try! We ordered the Garlic Style Kauai Shrimp, Kalbi Marinated Beef Short Ribs, and the Double Fried Crispy Garlic Chicken and they were all soooo delicious! We had Regular plates with rice, Mac salad and Kimchi. Portions were generous. Love how they put extra rice under the entrees so it soaks up the yummy sauces from the shrimp, beef and chicken! Wouldn't want all that yummy goodness to go to waste! The shrimp and chicken were so super garlicky, just like how we like it! Beef was so tender and the sauce was yum! Service was quick and friendly. We will be back for seconds before leaving the island!

So good! K&K is located in the food cart pod in north Kapa'a along the bike path - next to the pool. We have enjoyed K&K several times - and I need to try more things. I can't get away from the Ahi Katsu. It is FANTASTIC! It comes with rice (white, brown or upgrade to excellent fried rice) and some of my favorite island mac/potato salad Daughter and I each got the Ahi Katsu - she went with white rice. You can choose a side salad instead of the mac/potato - but why? That just sounds so wrong. Daughter plans to try the Kalbi Rib plate lunch in the next week or two.

Honestly, the wait is usually a good sign there. Your order lineup hits a nice mix: * Mandu great choice for something shareable and comforting * Korean chicken if it tasted like an ajumma made it, that's basically the highest compliment * Beef sliders can't go wrong, especially when they're "ono" That mix of Korean flavors with a casual, almost random décor (yeah, "Mexican-ish" is oddly accurate for some island spots) is part of what makes places like that memorable--kind of a cultural mashup you only really find in Hawai'i. If you ever go back, people usually rave about their: * Garlic fries * Poke-style dishes * Local beer selection Kaua'i's north shore is full of low-key gems like that, but Taps and Hops is definitely one that sticks with you

This is our second trip to Kauaʻi, and without a doubt, this has been the best restaurant experience we've had on the island. Every dish we ordered was incredibly flavorful and generously portioned. My fiancé couldn't stop talking about the mussel and shrimp pasta--he said it was the best pasta dish he's ever had. My mom ordered the catch of the day with risotto and said it was the best risotto she's ever tasted. The flavors of the fresh fish and risotto complemented each other perfectly. I had the teriyaki ribs, and I absolutely fell in love with the teriyaki sauce. It had the perfect balance of savory and sweet without being overpowering, making every bite delicious. The owner was one of the sweetest and most hospitable people we've met. She went above and beyond by personally making my mom a custom mocktail, which she absolutely loved. That level of genuine hospitality made our experience even more special. 10/10--we would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Kauaʻi. We loved every minute of our meal, and my fiancé kept saying he wishes we had a place like this on Oʻahu. We'll definitely be back on our next visit!

When we pulled up around 7pm, there was just 1 other party that was there and they were seated outside. There was live music and we asked to be seated right in front of him. Boy, that was a big mistake as the speaker was right there and it was very difficult for me and my wife to carry any kind of conversation. That was mostly my fault and I should have asked to be seated a few tables back. But it was fine as the musician was great the whole night with his soothing voice and relaxing tunes. There were only 2 servers at the time so getting my drink refilled was a little slow. We ordered the fried enoki mushrooms. Not sure where they were going with this dish as enoki mushrooms don't really have any taste to them. Plus it's a little stringy. I thought it was a little oily. Not sure if the oil was hot enough when they fried this, but it was a bit greasy and since it didn't have any taste to it, the tartar sauce pretty much carried the dish. My ribeye, however, was great. It was cooked medium-rare with a lot of mashed potatoes. The peppercorn cream sauce was a nice touch and didn't overshadow the meat. The one thing I would suggest is that the ribeye was on the thin side, so it didn't get that char crispiness that you would be able to get on a thicker steak. Since I asked for it to be medium rare, getting the desired texture would not be possible. I would have liked to be thicker as the bite would be more substantial. I normally associate a thin cut to a cheap or budget steak. Flavor-wise and temp, it was perfect. There was so much mashed potatoes that I ended up leaving half of it on the plate. It's a garlic mash and really tasty. The Osso Buco was tender, fall off the bone. I did, however, find it to be a little too salty though. You also get a lot of Risotto. They do not skimp on portions here. Great find.

Popular menu items include ahi katsu 10/10, chili pepper chicken 9/10, and Hawaii's own- loco moco (not a huge fan in general). They offer a variety of other options, including poke, ramen, and sandwiches, with convenient takeout and delivery available. It's definitely a local favorite due to its generous portions, authentic Hawaiian cuisine and friendly service. We ordered the fried chicken and poke combo with wonton chips and the ahi katsu (my absolute fav). The ahi was fried to perfection- crispy on the outside while rare and tender on the inside. The sauce on the katsu was absolutely fire!!! So good! Macaroni salad was creamy and delicious. And the rice was perfect. Obviously, you cannot visit Hawaii without having some of their poke- always fresh and delightfully tasty. The marinade was savory and packed with flavor.

Its right off a main road and you cannot miss it. Parking lot was a bit small, but there was plenty of parking. AMBIANCE: When I went there was plenty of seating. A bit dead, but I also did go pretty early. There were a bunch of decor of older American pop culture like Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, etc. But also Hawaiian themed decor (obviously). SERVICE: You gotta walk up to the front to order. I was approached almost immediately as soon as I walked up to the menu on the screen. The girl working was super friendly and welcoming. I made my order and she gave me a pager for when my food was ready. FOOD: I ordered the chili pepper chicken, which was recommended from the girl at the counter. My friend ordered the ahi katsu. The chili pepper chicken was good! It was crispy and extremely flavorful. It was slightly too salty for my taste, but luckily the rice does help balance it out. Some of the crispness was sacrificed for the sauce, but it was overall still pretty crispy. I loved that they used boneless chicken thigh. I was expecting bones or lots of breading but it actually had a perfect ratio. I wasn't much a fan of the mac salad. It was like a mix of mac and potato salad, but more like a potato salad. I'm not big on potato salad, so that makes sense. My friend's ahi katsu was alright in my opinion. The sauce that's on it was good and enjoyed all the flavors. The tuna was just a bit overcooked to my liking, but idk how else one would make a katsu without overlooking it too much. Maybe bread the fish and freeze it before frying? Idk man, I'm not a chef lol but the tuna would definitely be better if it was less cooked. OVERALL: Honestly, I would still come here again. I still enjoyed the meal and the service was pretty quick. Both items were both worth trying. All the flavors were there and the little things I didn't like were just personal preferences. Its a great place to pick up a lunch plate and enjoy it at the beach.
