Pretty good carne asada tacos. Down one star for only one corn tortilla...there's plenty of beef which broke right through after one bite. Flavor good, not over the top great, but a good value at $12 for two tacos. Comes with cilantro and onions, and a guacsalsa (which was new to me but was good). Pacos Tacos is the 19th hole for Kukuiolono Park & Golf Course. Perfect place to grab a drink after a round, or to take away the hangry. The restaurant was clean, had a great view and we played putt putt after lunch. QUESO FUNDIDO (CHEESE FONDUE) -- get this! Rule number 1, you don't argue with the customer. We live walking distance from Paco's Tacos at the Kiahuna golf course and I always order the tostado. Even last week at this Kalaheo location after golf my husband an I got a tostado's. Today I asked for a tostado and my husband asked for the same, and I should have questioned it when it came out, but other Mexican restaurants will serve it in a fried flour tortilla, when the tostado we order is on a flat corn tortilla. I asked if they changed the way they make the tostado and the manager said you ordered a Taco Salad. I said no I ordered a tostado. Next thing he is arguing with me and telling all the staff, cooks, etc. that we ordered salad and not a tostado. He went on and on about us ordering Taco salads, no apology, no let me charge you for the tostado (side) around $8 something vs the taco salads at almost $20. I would not have tipped him but my husband was gracious and gave him a tip. I will never go to that location because of the scene the manager made. read more

Historical KUKUIOLONO PARK in KALAHEO has a vast golf course, and PACO'S TACOS was created for golfers to eat and take a break. Naturally, customers other than golfers can dine at this restaurant freely when they are in the park. When I looked for delicious Mexican restaurants on Kaua'i, I found PACO'S TACOS POIPU and went there recently. We were satisfied with the atmosphere of the restaurant, the staff, the cuisine, and so the two of us hoped for a similar experience at KALAHEO 's PACO'S TACOS today. We took a walk around the beautiful gardens and golf course before sitting down to a meal. The restaurant is surrounded by breathtaking scenery that helped us image the delicious dishes the restaurant would offer. We were hungry because of taking a good walk. I wanted to order immediately, but firstly as a Yelp Elite, I wanted everyone to know about this place, so I took a picture that shows the restaurant. Usually, when I tell the staff I'm taking a photograph for a Yelp review, the staff appreciates it. I was surprised to receive an unfriendly stare and attitude of impatience from the waitress when I asked to take photos inside the store for the first time. That made a bad impression. Is it such an imposition to be uploaded to Yelp? What? I was surprised. Overlooking the waitress, we decided to have a meal. While not the highest grade, the Mexican food was good by Hawaii standards. Salsa and tortilla chips are free in most Mexican restaurants, but Paco's Tacos charged us three dollars for a bowl of salsa small enough that it could be wrapped within the palm of a hand; and no chips at that price. Other Yelp reviewers have left unfavorable comments about being charged for the salsa. What really surprised us were shocking comments from the waitress to my husband. He ordered a mega-sized burrito, but we could not finish it and asked for a doggy bag and hot sauce. After taking more pictures for Yelp and paying, my husband mentioned to the waitress that charging three dollars for such a small bowl of salsa made the restaurant seem to have a cheap attitude. The waitress became defensive, and condemned us with an argumentative attitude. The waitress then harangued us with comments about how "Everything in Hawaii is expensive! Food is expensive." She even told us the cost of the take-home box! Can you imagine? Does a customer want to hear such things? Talk about reinforcing the impression of a restaurant having a cheap attitude! Yet, the price range of this restaurant is on the high side; our burrito was not cheap at $18. We came to this restaurant because the reception of the staff at the POIPU location was kind and comfortable. But this middle-aged woman was neither. She questioned if we were local, how long we lived here (as if we somehow didn't know how to fit into Kaua'i) and when she found out we'd moved from Waikiki, launched into further justifications for the salsa pricing by saying things like, "Since Waikiki has many tourists, the price range of restaurants is cheaper than here." As if she knows more about restaurant pricing on Oahu than someone who has lived there nearly nine years and is a Yelp reviewer. So, we asked ourselves, is the small number of customers in the place on a Saturday afternoon perhaps not due in part to the unfriendly demeanor of this waitress? Could it be that customers are repelled by an arrogant attitude and demeaning tone that looks down on patrons? In a gentlemanly tone, my husband tried to tell to her his comment about the salsa pricing was meant constructively and that we intended to return. But she never smiled or said "Thank you". I got up from my seat quickly, to get away from her negative attitude as soon as possible. Even though it's a restaurant in such a wonderful location, there is no doubt that the value is diminished due to the sour attitude of the waitress. What would the unseen founder who made the golf course in this magical location think about this . . . ? read more

To start I will say that food is really good, 5 stars for the food. Coming to the cantina since they open and always had a good experience, but the new young lady just can't be nice. I can understand the waiting time and not a problem at all. But being rude to the customer is not acceptable, tried to explain but she walked away. I miss all the nice people who used to work there, somebody should help them. However I will never go back again and I understand that they don't care about loosing one client. This place is located outside of the golf course and Historical KUKUIOLONO PARK in KALAHEO. After playing a round of golf, this place works out really well with a great price and great food. We walked in hot and exhausted and within minutes I had a beer in front of me and we all had a nice big glass of water. They were not super busy and the waitress took a little bit to get to as she was having a conversation in the kitchen, but when she got over to our table, she was nice and made us feel welcome. The food is delicious and reminds me Mexican food I used to buy when I lived in California. They even have Mole Sauce. The prices are competitive and priced more like local that tourist prices. The bathroom were clean, the place was clean, our table was clean. It was a nice view of the golf course if you sit near the window. Again, this is Mexican food, so you're not getting a lot of the Kaua'i experience at Paco's Tacos, but that being said, you will get a ridiculously yummy meal for a great price. read more

I stopped yesterday and it was the worst burrito I have ever had. for starters I got the burrito plate veg style plus cheese and wet...it was a total of $33 just for a burrito beans and rice Ludacris I'm not sure how they stay open but I'm definitely never coming here again and top of that veg style supposed to have vegetables. All it had was lettuce, beans and rice inside of the burrito and outside of the burrito. I took my leftovers home and added a creamy cilantro and lime dressing and it was perfect. My husband ordered chicken enchiladaS with mole . He gave it two thumbs up. We have been customers for 5 years. The breakfast and lunch is great. But today we went at 415 with another couple. The restaurant says it is open till 5. But we were told we had a couple minutes to order because the kitchen was closing down. We quickly ordered. The food came in 5 -10 minutes and was delicious. It was now 430. The waitress started putting the chairs up on the tables. The music was so loud we could not have a conversation with our friends. I asked if she could turn down the music and was told they would want the music loud when they mopped the floors. By 435 they started mopping the floors around us and the fumes were so bad we all started coughing. The music was still blaring. So we forced to gulped down our food and leave because the fumes were so bad. Good food but go there at your risk after 4pm. Aggressively bad service. read more

The restaurant is located in the Kukuiolono Golf Course ans it's worth the beautiful drive. Also quenched my thirst with their tamarind margarita. They also brag about their jalapeño margarita. I am a local. I live in Kalaheo and have eaten at Paco's Tacos Kalaheo on many occasions. Food is okay served with no overly warm aloha but I'm okay with that. But today 1/4/25, we had the worst experience at Paco's Tacos Kalaheo. We hadn't eaten there for a while and decided to go and have a nice dinner and checked online for their hours of operation and it said open until 5:00PM. Got there before 4:30PM and waiter informed us kitchen closing in 10 minutes. We knew what we wanted, he took our order (when food arrived food was cold), soda flat and funny tasting but I didn't complain. Then the waiter proceeded to blast loud music while we ate and started doing some dance steps (we were the only customers in there). I guess he just wanted us gone. So rude! Definitely no aloha!! Then when I paid with no tip and complained the food was cold he just laughed at us. We were out of there before 5:00PM. You should have just said you were closed to begin with than bad vibe us out of there. Spending over $50 and served cold food and not enjoying myself doesn't sit well in this day and age. We're senior citizens hopefully no one treats your kupuna like that. read more

Have to pay for chips and salsa. My daughters chicken nuggets were overdone (and they were the dinosaur ones). I discovered this authentic Mexican-style Cantina Cafe a few weeks ago and really enjoyed their tacos at the bar. Last Saturday I focused on their breakfast served all day and took the opportunity to try the breakfast burrito. Did I say Monster Burrito? Yes It was big enough to fill me up! I went with the Machaca-style, seasoned shredded beef, rice, beans, eggs & cheese. I added some Pico de gallo Salsa to make mine just right! So Ono I'm back today and writing this review! Today it's a Monster Machaca Burrito to go! The location on a golf course overlooking the ocean adds to the Hawaiian experience. You will hear Mexican Spanish communications from the staff. So a warm Aloha followed by a ¿cómo estás? Will bring a smile and that service you are looking for! Great food! Great Staff! Great Location and a Great meal! When an otherwise enjoyable dining experience is diminished by some self-defeating issue, I may offer a constructive suggestion in the hopes the establishment might consider modifying its behavior or policies to make things better for all concerned. While management is never under any obligation to agree with me, let alone act upon my input, it shouldn't be too much to expect my opinion as a customer to be received with a certain amount of graciousness. Imagine my dismay when our recent happy hour experience of Paco's Tacos Kalaheo was turned distinctly unhappy due to the rudeness of having a suggestion, offered in the spirit of improving things, met with the rudeness of argument on the part of the restaurant staff. Following a nice meal while enjoying the wonderful view at Paco's Tacos Kalaheo, I asked the waitress if I could speak to the manager. She said he wasn't there but did I want to comment about something. I told her that we had an overall enjoyable experience, liked the food, and were looking forward to returning soon, with friends. Within that context, I mentioned that being charged three dollars for a minuscule bowl of tomato salsa made the restaurant come across as cheap. A savvy waitress could have diplomatically offered to pass my comment on to the manager, implying the issue was not her kuleana and letting our experience conclude amicably. The reaction from the waitress was the diametric opposite of diplomatic. She said the price was documented on the menu and actually admonished me to "read the menu more carefully" next time, as if the menu were some kind of contract and I was at fault for not reading the fine print. She affected a defensive and superior attitude, arguing with me about prices of food on Kaua'i and the cost of the restaurant doing business. Apparently, neither she nor her boss who apparently failed to train her properly in customer relations has ever heard the saying that "the customer is always right." The customer is may not be factually informed about the cost of running a restaurant, but the customer is always right because the customer can choose not to spend any money with that business. So, what was the cost to Paco's Tacos of the waitress needing to be right and gracelessly imposing her will upon a customer offering a suggestion? Well, let's see: Our bill was $57.00 before tip (yes, I tipped her anyway). We go out for Mexican food about eight to ten times per year. If we never dine at Paco's Tacos Kalaheo again, the math is (about) $57.00 x 8 = $456.00 per year in lost revenues. If I'm around another ten years, that's $4,560 in lost revenues to the restaurant. At a standard tip rate of 15%, that's $684 in lost tip money. But wait, how many other people on Yelp have expressed similar dissatisfaction about this restaurant and this waitress? I count 11 other one- and two-star reviews. Including me, that's 12 (and using my numbers as a ballpark) that's 12 x 4560 = $54,720 in lost revenues in a decade, and over $8,000 in lost tip money. For every negative review of a business, how many people never go there? How many go there and come away displeased but don't write a review? If we guess at ten, which is probably very conservative, that works out to over a half million dollars in lost business in a decade and about $80,000 in lost tip money. So, Mr. Restaurant Manager, if you're concerned about the cost of doing business, you might want to factor in these numbers for the cost of having an employee who offends your customers. When you consider that it would not have cost you a penny to turn this around (I wasn't asking you to comp the salsa, which should appeal to the maker of the cheapskate policies of your restaurant chain), only that my comment be received politely. Even if you had ignored what I said seconds after I uttered the words, you could have kept us as customers and probably received a 4-star review. Hope it was worth it, to you. You might want to consider advising your employees to check their egos at the door when they come to work. They're not there to be right; they are there to contribute to the success of your business. Alienating your customers is the opposite of that. For us, you ruined the mood of an entire weekend day out, wasting our two-hour round trip to your restaurant, and OUR cost of paying for our meals. I wonder how many customers you have to lose before your restaurant crosses the threshold between staying in business and folding. There was a sign I once saw in a successful high tech public relations agency that said, "It takes months to get a new customer and seconds to lose one." You might want to think about that. read more

I love this restaurant! Excellent, authentic Mexican food! I've had breakfast & lunch several times and can only rave about the food. However, I give 3 starts because the seating option is awful. They have a nice balcony that wraps around the entire restaurant but they refuse to allow seating there! They have tables and chairs out there with shade and sweeping views but they simply will not allow anyone to enjoy it! When asked why, they won't explain, just just say it's closed.
