I had a late morning flight to get back home and really wanted some tacos before leaving Dallas. My husband called his son to ask where were all the good spots and he said hands down you have to go to Mariana's! What a great recommendation! Not only is this a super cute location with a really nice outdoor patio filled with colorful plants and lots of shade, but they also have excellent service. The man who took our order was really friendly and was patient to answer all of our questions. I ended up going with a lengua taco and a bacon egg and cheese taco both on corn and they were amazing, and their corn tortillas are excellent! My husband went with the shredded chicken and a potato egg and cheese, and he was absolutely loving them. Potato egg and cheese is never something that's really over the top, but they really know how to do it right here at Mariana's, the potatoes were cut small. They were very soft. They had salt and everything had lots of flavor. The real star of the show was their salsa! Both the red and green were mind blowing! If they sold them by the jar, I would have brought home two of each, they were so good! Their salsa is so flavorful it just enhances the already amazing tacos. I decided to try them based on the reviews. It sits on the corner and has several patio tables. The inside is small with about 10 chairs. I ordered my food to go. The 3 taco combo plate with asada and barbacoa. The meat had a little flavor but I was expecting more. The green salsa helps where the meat lacks. It is smooth and creamy with a nice kick. The rice and beans were really good though. One thing I will say is they didn't skimp on the meat. For the price it was a good deal and I would come back for less than $16. read more

10/10. Drove from Fort Worth just to try this spot and it was worth it. Hands down some of the best tacos I've ever had (chef's kiss). The agua de jamaica (hibiscus) was a bit on the sweet side but very good. Good service and affordable spot esp for a family night out. The inside is limited on seating but plenty of picnic style seating/ tables available outside. It was a great day outside when I went so the patio worked perfectly. Parking is available on the street and at a lot down 4th street and Oak St. There's a lot right next to the restaurant but you can't park there. This is my second visit, trying the menudo again, first time was months ago, and was very average, today menudo is a bit better, and 1 dollar lower in price, they do use good honey comb tripe, and lots of hominy, and provide all the condiments, they still need to work on the soup, I believe they are using packaged chili mix, and not cooking and preparing it themselves, the packaged stuff has a plasticy flavor. Almost there though. Next I need to try the tacos and burros. Oh almost forgot, they need to provide better corn tortillas, the ones they give you are paper thin, and do not compliment the menudo, I'd pay a dollar or 2 more for real hand made corn tortillas. read more

Simple but complete menu. We ordered two burritos and one nacho. It came with a red and a green sauce for each item. Food was very well done. Perfectly balanced and evenly distributed. Good flavor, well presented. Red and green sauce were awesome. Not the typical spiciness though. These sauces were definitely much more muted in spice, but great flavor. The red had a little bit more of a kick but I enjoyed the green sauce more. I wouldn't eat inside as it's tiny and the weather was so nice. Their outdoors eating area was also clean, tidy, and cute. It'd be a waste to not eat outside. The only thing I would say wasn't entirely perfect was that they labeled the burritos incorrectly but we were able to figure it out. Had this place bookmarked for over a year and dined here the first time on a Sunday, and man was it a huge let down. It's a very tiny establishment, indoor seating is scarce, and there was a long wait. I ordered 3 tacos, 2 carne asada and al pastor, they were horrible and chewy, lacking flavor. On weekends they have menudo, it was just ok, there were no chilli flakes and it was on the bland side I had to add salt and pepper, plus there wasn't enough tripe. I got my baby a kids meal, it was a tiny cheese quesadilla with rice and beans my baby barely touched it. I had high expectations for Mariana's considering they advertised themselves as "authentic Mexican food". Definitely won't be back and don't recommend to anyone, 1/10! Waste of 32 bucks :( read more

I just tried this place for lunch with coworkers. Its a tiny taqueria in downtown Frisco. Super cool. You order and pay and then sit down outside or take it to go. They brought us our food very fast and everyone was very happy with their choices. I ordered the chicken Quesadilla with guacamole inside and it was delicious and huge! Huge and I think around $10 ish which was a deal. I do enjoy finding mom and pops local shops like this one. I do want to go back to try some of their tacos. Wow, I thought I had found delicious tacos at some other local spots like LaLas and Valerie's but this place might have surpassed them as the best tacos and most authentic Mexican tacos I've found in north Texas. Finally got to try this place. Came here for breakfast while everyone was still in church, so parking was plentiful. Got the egg, chorizo, beans and potatoes. Also got the menudo and a carne asada taco. The egg, chorizo and refried beans were good. Potatoes were ok. But let's talk about the menudo! It was very flavorful. Could have been a bit hotter, but not a biggie because it was already hot and humid outside! To top off the menudo, the carne asada taco was soooo good! Meat was tender, and great size street taco! Parking here is very limited. With all the construction going on in the downtown area and this place being right off the main street going through downtown, it can be challenging with traffic is heavy. Service was good. This is a great independent little taco shop in the heart of downtown Frisco. They mostly have outside seating on the patio and where i prefer to sit but you do need to plan your weather with your visit I like their food since it is the closest to my So. Cal Mexican food. The chimichanga is nice and crispy on the outside with a very tasty shredded chicken on the inside. The rice is always fluffy and the beans are solid!! Tasty, big portion, great salsa verde! Been in Frisco for a long time, but had not been here. Tried it and I would go back. Chips with queso, shredded chicken burrito and comes with red and green salsa, and a topo. Chips I just wish were lighter but I did like they were not salty. Queso was good next time I will get some chopped onion to add a little more flavor and crunch. Green salsa I could drink! It reminds me of the green salsa I loved at Taco Diner (closed). What I loved about the green salsa there was no avocado in it, shockingly my daughter has an allergy to avocados so she'll be able to enjoy this. Ambiance: There is mostly seating outdoors on a bench type seat and table. There are a few high top chairs inside the restaurant. There is a low music level and bright lighting inside the restaurant. The staff was very accommodating and helpful when ordering. Chicken Chimichanga: The burrito had a very nice and crispy fried outside. But the inside of the burrito was nothing spectacular. It just tasted like an overload of refried beans and a little bit of shredded chicken. The flavor profile was not very high as it just tasted like a bean burrito. However, the salsa that came with the meal did help a little bit. The salsa was very spicy though so I couldn't put too much. I really wanted to like this place, but the experience was disappointing from start to finish. The food was far from authentic and honestly just didn't taste very good. We were rushed while ordering as well. For a counter-service restaurant, the service was surprisingly poor. What really bothered me was being prompted for a 20% tip when there was basically no service involved. We ordered at the counter, but no one explained where drinks were, nobody brought them out, and we had to go get them ourselves after waiting. For the level of service provided, the automatic expectation for a high tip felt unreasonable. read more

I absolutely love the chips and salsa here! I don't love that you have to pay for it. One of the best things about Mexican restaurants is the free chips. I had the beef taco plate which was good, but I was expecting ground meat rather than chunks of beef. It's a tiny and cozy little place with just a few seats inside but they do have outdoor patio seating. Parking is a little odd here since the lot they are located on is parking for another facility so it's street parking only. This is one of those places where you go to the counter and order, but they do bring out your food. They get pretty busy during lunch time too so go early!
