She just pays attention and brings things before you even have to ask, which makes a big difference Tried the avocado margarita out of curiosity. First sip felt a little unusual, not gonna lie but after a couple more sips it actually grows on you and the kick at the end is nice The fajitas were probably the best part. Super soft and flavorful, not that chewy texture you get at some places big difference there. They've only been open about two weeks and it was already pretty busy for a Wednesday, so that says a lot Plano doesn't have that many Mexican spots, but this one still feels like it's going to stand out. A for effort! But this was a miss. Love family businesses, but this one in particular made me want to go to Taco Bell. The food reminded me of small town Mexican that a white person made. The Flacarita also tasted like water. Also the "award-winning" guacamole was mostly onion flavor. I loved the concept, but the execution was subpar at best. Ordered on Uber Eats. It was great in the restaurant, but I got cold nachos, no guacamole and cold queso. My suggestion is if you want to eat at this restaurant go there but do not order from Uber Eats because this was a waste of $20.00. By the way, the guacamole is the best part of the Dish and I couldn't believe it was not included. read more

Dined at this restaurant on its second week being open. The wait staff is not well trained, chips and salsa to start are very average. My Steak Argentina was good enough. What a great surprise! Don't let the menu fool you since it kind of looks boring like Chuys...other TexMex.This is authentic, amazing full flavored steak & chicken dishes. My wife and I have been eating at Desperados since the 90's so when we discovered there was a new location in Plano, we planned our visit. We went for lunch when it is easier to get a table. From our understanding, the place gets packed around 6pm for dinner. Positives: They have the best beef fajitas in the area. Tasty and easy to eat. The meat cuts super easy. Their beans and rice on the side are also nice. My wife liked the salsa, I thought it was just okay. The house margaritas are also very good. The wait staff were friendly with the right amount of attention. Concern: The lunch menu shown online is NOT what they have on the menus in the restaurant. Our waiter said the people handling the website are getting ahead of the restaurant. That's not a good idea. It's leads to expectations that the business can't deliver on. We'll definitely be back to get Desperados Tacos sometime. read more

I have been a loyal Desperados fan for over 25 years. Their Desperado Tacos EERE top tier delicious. I went to the new Desperados in Plano as I was very excited to have one of my fav Mexican restaurants down the street. The place is beautiful, the service was ok- I get that new restaurants with new ownership need time to catch their groove. But, the tacos were not the same. The owners have obviously tried to cut corners on the quality of ingredients and changed the recipes of long standing staples of the restaurant. All four in our party left disappointed with our dishes. To be honest, we were so disappointed we don't plan on returning. Sad to see that happen. read more

The service is excellent. We have been there 5 times and love it. Except last night we ordered virgin margaritas because we don't drink alcohol. We have ordered them several times before at this location and they were excellent. This time we ordered and they said they don't serve them anymore. That is very disappointing. We also ordered the chicken quesadillas which were very good. We ordered the fried fish tacos which were awful. Fish was very small and there was more batter than fish. Also the tacos were so oily from the sauce I couldn't even eat them. Very bad experience. I have had many fish tacos and most places have a lot of fish in the taco. This was very disappointing. The place is very nicely decorated. I did takeout. I was promised that this would be much better than "On the Border ". It was more expensive and not better. I ordered the steak fajitas, quesadillas and Guacamole. The Guacamole was decent although for $10 it really just was ok. The chips are thick and flavorless. The fajita steak and vegetables had no flavor. The steak was chewy and over cooked. The quesadillas ( I ordered the cheese and spinach) were too salty without other flavors to balance it out. I think there are much better places with better value nearby to order fajitas and quesadillas. We could not finish our meal. read more

My dish was cold. Beef enchilada was okay, but cheese taco and puff taco were cold. Took a while to get server's attention. She notified the manager and he took the charge off. Wife's meal was fine. When they brought the chips it was a tiny bowl literally like a handful for the table . Salsa was not great. We saw a picture of the meal we wanted to try and it was nothing like the website. We ordered the steak Argentina . Plate comes and there's no beans and no sauce on steak like it showed in picture. Beginning of meal we told server we were going to split check and take a flan to go. We arrived at 5:45pm and the restaurant began filling up at 6pm. No reservations, but you can call to have them put you on a wait list. We left at 7p and the place was full. Our server was outstanding. Very friendly and helpful for selections. I had a chile relleno that had brisket. Very different from a standard chile relleno, but excellent. Husband had Pollo San Lorenzo, which was fileted chicken breasts in a cream sauce. He gave it a thumbs up. We finished with sopapillas, which were easy to cut and not chewy. It says there is happy hour 11-7 and shows the prices; when we got there, we got drinks, and then they said there's no daily happy hour at this location right now. Also, they upcharged on the margarita compared to the actual physical menu?? Staff was rude despite their blunders being their fault, likely due to novelty of place and staff. Chips bad, salsa okay. Went there tonight for the first time. They just opened a few days ago. I ordered carne asada and my friend ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp. Shrimp cooked right and delicious. It came with a side of zucchini ..... but only three little pieces of zucchini! Really?Charro Beans were good. Would come back again for the shrimp! Now my carne asada ...very chewy. Pretty much tasteless, needed a lot more flavor/marinade. It was a small potion sliced up. Few vegetables on top and very little cheese. I ordered it medium rare and came out rare but I would rather have it less done than more done. Was just warm, not hot. Would not order again. Rice ok. Chips too stiff/thick/course for me. 2 salsas good. Plating could be more attractive. Everything looked like it was just dumped on the plate. Next time I'll stick to the Tex Mex (enchiladas maybe?) and give that a try. It was very busy and tables full. read more
