The guys over at 'Todd's BBQ' are in absolutely no rush to attend to customers waiting in line. Of the half dozen times I've been here there was just one associate behind the counter who couldn't be bothered to even pretend to move faster than at a snail's pace. I've come back several times (both on and off busy hours) with no perceivable change in service. Not once were my long wait times (10 minutes plus) ever acknowledged. Most likely will not be giving this store any more chances. read more

Today was my first day working for Marianos pickup and going in I was so nervous. The people who I worked with today were the some of the most patient and kind people I have met. There was always someone there to answer questions and help. I really enjoyed my day and am genuinely excited to go back on Friday. If anyone is looking for a job I highly recommend Mariano's! Congratulations Kroger. You now have the same or lower rating for your store as a temporarily closed Aldi. This store used to be spacious and very customer centric. Today I went in for sushi, which I do often (the sushi is really good). But, again, their bucket of soy sauce was nearly empty and there was only one set of chopsticks available. Over the past couple of months, I have had to ask them to refill it multiple times. Not a huge deal, but not what I had come to expect from what used to feel like a higher end store. Now today I also had a few items to get in the rest of the store. They have so many displays blocking the aisles that navigating the store was not only difficult, I passed up buying items that I couldn't get to because one freezer aisle was impassible. It would have been fine if the display of pop was not absolutely in the center of the aisle. Wonder how much that company paid for that position, and if the frozen vendors realize that they lost sales because their product was not accessible? Bob Mariano is starting a new store called Dom's. Hopefully it's as good at pre-Kroger Marianos. read more

A few "beefs" about this Mariano's: 1. According to bakery staff on previous visits, the fresh loaves of bread are bagged in plastic at 5:00 pm. This was not my experience on July 16 when I arrived at 4:20 pm and they were all bagged up. Ugh. 2. Two months ago when I tried to order a whipped cream birthday cake, I was told they only have a non-dairy topping available. I tasted it and it's like Cool Whip. So off I went to Jewel, instead, for their delicious whipped cream cake! 3. The wait at their deli can be long. It feels longer because you don't know what number they are on like you do at Casey's and other meat departments. 4. I looked for Pompeian brand Roasted Garlic Infused Red Wine Vinegar as I'd made a special trip there for it. I'd purchased it there many times before. It is no longer on the shelf (no shelf tag). When I talked with customer service about bringing it back, the lady took my information and promised to get back to me. That was over a month ago and I'm still waiting. Their business is still booming and they probably don't care about my peeves, but there they are. read more

I'm a two minute drive from this location and was excited to have such a great chain opening up so close to home, but every experience I've had here has been negative. Although I was hoping for a greater selection of organic foods and the parking experience is quite frustrating, my major grievance surrounds the customer service. From being told that the store was closing ten minutes before its actual close time and then being ushered to the exit by a rude manager to having another rude manager treat an elder cashier who was ringing me up with utter disrespect, I've been shocked to find such a careless management staff in charge during a crucial time in a store's life cycle. All in all, I'm fine making the 15 minute drive to the Whole Foods on 75th if it means I get the parking, product, and service I'm looking for. read more

If you cannot find what you are looking for here it doesn't exist ! A little pricy but excellent quality. Has a huge variety of eat in and take out hot and cold foods. Has an attractive comfortable eating area. Incredible bakery. There is a wine bar, oyster bar, cheese station, fresh custom guacamole stand fresh juice varieties, gelato and the list goes on. Clean and bright. Attractive displays. Helpful associates. Hard to believe it is part of Kroger chain which includes Food for Less! Definitely the classier upscale part of the family. read more

I've been shopping at this store for a while and am a very loyal customer. Normally I don't have any issues here but this week, I was out grocery shopping with my 2.5 month old who was sound asleep in his car seat. As I was checking out, the cashier asked me how old he was. When I told her she gasped and told me I should not have a baby that young out of the house. I was totally caught off guard and laughed thinking she was joking to which she responded "I'm seriously, babies should not be out that young." I found this to be incredibly rude and judgmental. Although I know this employees name, I won't mention it as I don't want to get her in trouble but I would recommend that their employees be trained on etiquette and customer service. read more

Pluses: Mariano's has a great selection of hard to find items, and the people in the various departments are super-helpful. For example, someone was checking the stock of the cheese in that department and when I was wondering if they had a particular kind, she immediately wrote it down so they could order it. They have all kinds of interesting little departments and places to eat and drink, including a nice bar. Need olive oil? I've NEVER seen this many kinds in one place. Minuses: The meat department. I had to wait forever for them to bring out more ground chuck, although they were very nice about it. But I really feel like the staff in the meat department doesn't really know anything about meat. One tried to sell me some little fatty piece of brisket to add to my other piece so that I'd have enough poundage as requested. I would have had to throw that away. And today I paid about $15/pound for organic Scottish salmon. When I opened it to make it for dinner, it was obviously nowhere near fresh. Pee-yew. Other minuses: the store layout is weird, and you get trapped in the floral department. The international aisles require that you just go in and look because the signage in there isn't clear at all. Does "Pisa" mean that the Italian items are here? Not necessarily. Biggest minus: price. I price check, and they are consistently a little or a lot higher than other places. Why do I come here? Convenience. When I am in the area, or short on time, I'll go to Mariano's rather than make separate runs to Trader Joe's + Fresh Thyme + Casey's + Target. All those other stores beat Mariano's hands down for various items. But sometimes, you just don't have time to run all around! Plus grocery shopping isn't entertainment for me; I'd like to get my things and get out. read more

I usually love shopping at this Mariano's but recently had a bad experience with customer service (and after looking at other reviews on here, it looks like overcharging at checkout is a common occurrence for this store). I was recently overcharged for an item and brought it back to ask for a refund. However, the manager seemed annoyed that I was taking up her time (the store was very busy) and tried telling me I was wrong about the price. After doing a price check, she realized I was indeed correct and finally issued me a refund of the difference (or so I thought). Looking at my credit card statement today, I saw that she had actually charged me again instead of refunding me the money. Thankfully my credit card company removed the charge from my account and I did not have to go back to the store again. Overall, very disappointed with the poor customer service - especially from a manager. read more

OMG I love you Marianos! Everything under one room and more. 4 weeks since grand opening and its still packed. Go during off hours if you can, Early morning or after dinner. I asked a women in the bakery 'do you make all your bread fresh'? She said 'we bake it here but all our dough comes from Italy' Holy Hell! In general, the customer service at Mariano's is horrible chain-wide. However, the experience I had yesterday in the Naperville Mariano's sealed the deal for me - I'll never step foot in one of their stores again. In a nutshell, I walked up to the deli counter and pushed the ticket button. No ticket came out. Another customer explained that the ticket machine was broken and I'd have to walk to the other end of the counter to get a ticket. I did so and ticket #23 popped out of the machine just about the time the lone guy behind the counter yelled out "Number 5." Yup, that's right. One guy working the deli counter on busy Saturday morning. There was another woman behind the deli counter just standing there with a stunned look on her face. When a customer told her he wanted some ham, she said, "Sorry, I only do salads." Eventually a couple more deli clerks came back from coffee break and eventually ticket #23 was called. I told the clerk that I'd like 1# of sandwich pepperoni. He just glared at me and snarled that he would have to "...go in the back and get it" and told me, "...just get a couple of stick pepperonis so I don't have to go in back." I politely declined his offer and reiterated my desire for 1# of sandwich pepperoni. He rolled his eyes and stomped off though the swinging doors to the back room of the deli. 10 minutes later he hadn't returned so I gave up and moved along to the Butcher Shop counter. Upon arriving at the butcher shop counter, I pressed the button on the ticket machine just to see a message flash, "Out of Service." That explained why there were about 20 people in front of the counter arguing about who was "next." Where were the Mariano's employees? The two clerks were standing there, silent and motionless like headlighted deer. I left my cart right there and drove across the street to the Jewel. Mariano's apparently never learned a thing from the Dominick's experience. All the "amenities" in the world like raw bars, soup lines, and wine tastings can't make up for slipshod, indifferent, and downright dreadful customer service. I'm through with Mariano's and Roundy's. read more

We actually love shopping here! We stop for a drink at the bar and then do our shopping. We go out of our way to shop here as we live in Bolingbrook. I simply don't understand why the bathroom is so filthy! Literally, filthy. It's a nice grocery store, the customer service is decent but the bathrooms are inexcusable. read more

I used to LOVE Mariano's. Fresh and interesting options, awesome meat section, loved the deli meal deal, and the staff were top notch. Flower section lovely but kinda pricey. Totally worth the price premium over Jewel. Lately it seems Mariano's has been stripped of a lot of its uniqueness and replaced by more "Kroger" type style. Less staff, less fresh options, the dreaded self checkout replacing actual checkout staff, no piano, and prices still high. I do love the Home Chef options they have added and pick up at least one a week. I know price compression is a thing...please do all you can to stay unique! read more

I used to love this grocery store, but lately I've noticed a major attitude with a lot of the younger staff. They treat customers like an inconvenience. Also, dint rely on the grill being open until 8:45pm, even though it's advertised as such. read more

Over rated in my opinion. Their bakery is very good the rest of the store just OK. I've had the hot food bar for lunch probably a couple dozen times since the chain started a few years ago. It's gone down hill continually to the point that I stopped eating there. The last time both the fish and chicken were way over cooked and dried out. Even the potatoes were not good.Plus for what you get it's over priced. I like potatoes and vegetables but not at $7 a pound. Rating the store 3 stars may be a stretch but I do like their bakery which is tasty and very reasonably priced read more

I really like this store. Most employees are friendly and courteous. The only issue I have is with the deli counter. There have been times when there are several workers behind the counter and they totally the ignore person waiting to be served. I realize some are doing other things like cleaning and prepping but is seems to happen too often that they will make no eye contact or just make you wait until they are good and ready to serve you. If they just said "I will be with you in a moment" that would suffice. I always remember the saying, "are we the customer here for you? or are you here for us?" read more

I ordered a cooked shrimp cocktail platter on Friday afternoon for pick-up on Saturday at 3 pm. On Friday afternoon, I received a call that my platter was ready for pick-up. I called them to let them know that my order was for Saturday pick-up not Friday. They assured me that I would have a new fresh cocktail platter ready for me on Saturday--that I wouldn't be getting the one they made on Friday. I believed them. When I got home on Saturday I noticed that the cardboard box said the pick up date was for Friday at 3 pm. So they lied & just gave me the day old one. I will not be shopping there any longer. read more

The prepared food is just ok. Salad bar average. Grocery store is full of a variety of standard, organic, and unique foods. Biggest complaint is the speakers for the announcements are directly over the eating area and it too loud. Announcements are made like every 2 minutes. I have to say that this is my favorite Mariano's. Definitely my go to grocery store. Big wide isles, very organized, clean, friendly, huge selection... love love love this store! They have the healthy Whole Foods items for much less AND have things like Cheetos and Jiffy peanut butter. No need to stop at two stores to shop trying to make an entire family of six happy. They have everything! The staff is extremely friendly and have always gone above and beyond. Deli, produce, salad bar, soup bar, coffee shop, smoothie bar, oyster bar, alcoholic beverage bar (yes, you can have a beer while you shop if that's your thing), imported cheese department, the butcher department, bakery, health and supplements, everything is top notch! Even the other customers are awesome!!! If you haven't been, you need to go. The one in Mokena/Frankfort is also a nice one. They are all not the same though, so don't let one location turn you off to the others. read more

Very attractive store (laid out much better than the Wheaton store) and the prices (currently anyway) are much more shopper-friendly than the competition across the street. But I'm taking off points for the lack of self-check stations--like many people I know, when Jewel removed their self-checks, I switched to a competitor that wisely added more of them and that's now my go-to. I'd be tempted to switch to Mariano's if they installed them here. read more

Really friendly employees. Love how even when it's busy, your not waiting forever in lines. It is expensive, you can get same exact items for a lot less elsewhere. But my biggest annoyance is they stop carrying things all the time. I buy a bread I like, then they never carry it again. This has happened with stuff in just about every isle. I buy my coffee creamer every week, which they had trouble keeping in stock it was so popular, then all of a sudden, replaced w something else. Every week I make a list a go, and there's another several things they just no longer carry. I'm ready to drive a little farther and just go somewhere else. read more

Shopping for Christmas Eve dinner and discovered our main entree (one bag in a cart full of groceries) never made it home. Made a trip back and met Robin at the service desk. She not only replaced it free of charge but could not have been nicer even though the store was packed. Absolutely horrible beef brisket sandwich for $9 for lunch. I bought 3. I'm no chef or deli owner but I sure know that I trim brisket of the 2 inches of fat once it's cooked. All 3 sandwiches were literally 50% fat. Never will buy these again. Wasn't worth $4 let alone $9. Complete waste of my hard earned money. I accidentally posted this to the Westmont Marianos, but it happened at Naperville...My grandma was put in hospice and her time was running out. It was the week before my wedding, and we decided that we were going to throw a ceremony at the hospital for just her and our immediate family (she kept telling the nurses she was waiting for September 17 because she had a wedding to go, so everyone in the family was hoping this would help her leave in peace.) My grandma wanted cake (she was on a restriced ice chips only diet, and the doctor cleared her for a few bites of cake given the situation). Doctor told us to get a whipped cream iced cake since buttercream would've been to hard to swallow. I went to the bakery (mind you-this was literally the DAY of our "wedding") they didn't have any cakes with whipped cream frosting and the girl behind the counter told me they were special order only and needed to be a day in advanced. When she asked what the occasion was, I explained. She immediately turned around to the other girl working and told her she needed to whip up a cake. She took my order-colors, writing, flavor-and didn't act like it was a hassle at all. I don't think those two ladies will ever understand how much their actions meant to me and my family. 15 minutes later we were out the door with the cake and on our way to get "married." My grandma said several times how good the cake was (and it really was amazing). She passed a couple of days later-Thank you, Marianos, and your sweet staff, for making every last moment with my Grandma truly special. I wish I could remember those two ladies' names, they deserve a huge shout-out. We've been shopping at this Marianos ever since, and never have been let down. THANK YOU MARIANO'S! read more

This a great grocery store which I shop at frequently. This review is more about an employee that I've observed purely by chance both times. I believe her name is Leanne. On one occasion she completely ripped on this woman outfit. Saying just plain mean things about someone she didn't seem to know for no reason. And she didn't seem to care she was loud about it. On another occasion I noticed her targeting what seemed to be a new young employee. This poor girl was making guacamole at the guacamole bar with a pretty good sized line and she wasn't helping her. Instead she just stood there and watched her struggle and didn't help. I haven't seen that girl working the guacamole bar since. If you're a manager at a store you should be professional and patient. These are 2 things that Leanne does not posses and she should be doing something else there that doesn't involve observant customers. This will not affect me shopping there but when I see her it makes me cringe. I would think long and hard about letting your spouse or kid work in her department they will be judged. read more
