Duh. It's Mariano's; the place that has had every grocery store in the area shaking in their boots while the new location was under construction. The place with the ridiculously legit food court, a trail mix station, a guac station, an oyster bar, and the second snobbiest cheese area I have ever seen (shout out to Standard Market for the cheese cave!) It's Mariano's; the place that has all of these awesome (and questionably useful) amenities yet still manages to have comparable prices to the Jewels of the world (still hate you, Jewel!!) The staff is always friendly. The LaCroix displays are impressive. The popcorn is good. The fresh juice is verrrrry good. Just go! Drink a beer and throw back an oyster for me when you do. read more

Love the marianos grocery stores. Clean and organized. Had a good experience when ordered 2 bday cakes. I didnt have a cart (my fault) and the baker helped me carry them to my car which was extremely helpful. Very friendly and accommodating. One thing id recommend in the juice bar to have an organic juice options like some other small health stores have. And also a slightly bigger baby section. I feel like i have to go to target to get the rest of the things. The the premium diapers/wipes/shampoos (babyganics or seventh generation). Please start carrying it! Whole foods carries it. Also the brands marianos carries for baby food are not top quality as id expect. They carry johnson johnson and gerber products most but would be nice to see the premium good quality stuff. I kinda have a love hate relationship with this place. Pros - Tons of choices for something to eat if you want to grab some dinner. -Food is usually good. -Good coupons in the mailer. -Really good deserts by the bakery (especially the cheesecake). Cons -Stood at the sandwich counter for about 5 minutes wondering if I needed to take a number or stand somewhere else because no one was offering help. -The french? bread they use for sandwiches has a really strong taste that overpower anything and everything on the sandwich. -The 2 times I actually done shopped here (as opposed to just grabbing a quick something to eat) I waited about 5-10 minutes in line, and then they shut down the register I was waiting at due to technical difficulties. Update: Make that 3 times. -Managers take about 5 minutes to come ring up alcohol for the kids at the register. -And lastly the staff seems to have no clue what's in their circular. -I saw a manager through a garbage bag on the ground right in a high traffic area. As a worker at Mariano's, the time flexibility for the employees used to be very flexible but now it is not since the store is understaffed. This leads to the workers needing to work more hours during school( if they are a part time student). Loved how the store was run by the old store manager(Mike) but since the exchange of managers, I've noticed that the customer service decreased by quite a bit. I could be biased but then again this is only a review from a worker here. read more

Marianos simply put is amazing. It's a one stop shop. Whether you come for groceries or simply want a bite to eat. The selection of groceries from various regions in the world is something you wouldn't find at just any super market. When you walk inside, it's a clean, inviting environment. The staff is very courteous, sometimes overwhelmed especially at Todd's BBQ, but who wouldn't be when it's probably the most frequently visited spot at Marianos. The quality of meat is outstanding. If you're to lazy one night to cook your own meat, Marianos will do it for free.....For Free! The prices are on par with other big chain supermarkets. Last but not least, what other supermarket let's you drink while shopping for groceries, waiting for your meal or even sitting down enjoying your meal. I usually come to their Deli to get their hot soups. Today I got their New England clam chowder. When I got home, I realized that there were no clams in the soup. Instead they had replaced the clams with chicken! They literally mixed the chowder with chicken rice soup. It tasted strange. I'm confused and upset because this is not what I wanted. They didn't even change the label to tell customers that there is chicken in it, so I'm pretty sure they just ran out of clam chowder so they dumped chicken rice soup into it. read more

So disappointed in this store, we grocery shop there every few days so we see what's consistent and what's not. Produce is of poor quality or goes bad the next day, and/or they are completely out of the basics like broccoli and parsley. In dry goods, we have found moldy bread and out dated items and just plain empty sections. Don't bother to tell management because nothing changes and they dismiss your concerns. read more

Not enforcing masks at all. Even with a loud altercation (over 5 minutes) between customers about a man belligerently refusing to mask or back off from neighboring customers, NONE of the several nearby employees said a word or called a manager. When I called to ask the manager why they aren't enforcing covid measures, he implied that he isn't allowed to ask customers to leave for refusal to mask. read more

I'm disappointed with this store and the lack of cleaning carts and the poor set up of do it yourself cleaning. I think they should do some customer service by cleaning the cart handles OR set up the self cleaning station so that the paper towels are easier to get to & tear off the roll. read more

This is the second time I have bought seafood from Mariano's (Lobster, Shrimp & Scallops) the quality is sub zero at best never again.....when I got home all three items stunk of chlorine.. disgusting they should not serve shellfish from sources that treat seafood like this absolutely the worst !!!!! Me and my wife are extremely disappointed that Marianno's (Krogers) ended the Oyster bar in the store. We enjoyed going there weekly to get 2 dozen oysters and jumbo shrimp. The service was spectactular as John, Roy and Joe were very personable and very efficient at doing there job. We are angry that John was fired along with the end of the oyster bar. It drew us in to the store where we made sizable purchases on a regular basis. We do not plan on being a Marianos customer any longer as we believe Krogers wants profits over serving their customers. We spoke with aquaintances we met at the oyster bar and they felt the same way we did ! We will not recommend Marianno's to any friends and business associates of ours. I'm a fan. This is different from many other places. I read some reviews and think should say something. Let's create a scale (not best to worse but style). Ultra Food is the entry level (basic & cost conscious). Jewel is a step up (more house brands & a little bigger). Then you have Standard Market, Whole Foods & (probably the higher end of the local food chain as far as selections & price points). Mariano's is between Jewel & Standard Market. Great selections. DON'T come here and expect Jewel or Standard Market because they aren't either. They found a perfect balance of the two. A nice balance of value based, sales & higher ticket items. The selection on fruit/veg, meat, deli & cheese among other things are wide. The people were friendly and well kept. Normally, you'll see something being sampled (normally the house pizza slot). I've been to other locations and consistency in service is there. The hot, salad & soup bars are on par with other local stores. They manage to keep things fresh. If something is out, it will get replaced quickly. Full service is a perfect way to explain what I saw. Keep up the great work!! Straight, no chaser!!! read more

The customer service at Mariano's is a cut above ALL the rest and I just want to give a shout out because it's so appreciated! I recently tried Mariano's on-line for pick up! WE LOVE IT - Even had the store personnel ask us about items they had questions on. I especially like that their website is set up to ask you on each item if it's OK to substitute. I tried Jewel's on-line this weekend! What a mistake and NEVER again! Thank you to the management team of Mariano's for keeping such a high standard for customer service. Your staff is always friendly (especially during the pandemic when it was sad to see other store chains becoming less than friendly in their struggles with social distancing! Well. It seems as if my cross-contamination issue has been taken care of. I noticed people were MUCH more cautious with this issue. Team Members seem more attentive to the hot bar & grill areas as it relates to this subject. As for the rest: 1. Cheese selection is fantastic. 2. BIG fan of the Sicilian pizza. It's almost a cousin to the deep dish but different crust. 3. Nice spot to get peppers (hot in particular). Some places are somewhat beat up, not here. 4. The brisket and (in particular) the sauces are also good. I don't think other grocery stores can come close to this. Same with the pizza. 5. MAYBE beef up the staff (e.g., more bodies) working in the deli during peak times. This may help with the longer waiting times but it's about the same wherever you may go. No place is perfect, but this works for me. Great selection and a good flow to the place. A keeper for me. read more

I really like this place! Great selection of quality produce, meats, etc. Quality on par with Costco without the need to stock the freezer every time we shop. This place has changed our shopping habits already. I hope they continue to provide the level of selection and quality going forward. We're in. They also have salad bar, hot bar, bbq and grill court, oyster bar, and a wine bar. Plan to try them in the coming weeks. Tried the hot bar. Not bad. Had mostly fried cod. It was very good (hard to find a decent fried fish these days. This was as good as most restaurant fish offerings. If there IS a good one somewhere, please tell me about it). My first trip to any Mariano's. Man was it packed - and for good reason. Lots of choices for a meal on the go and don't have to cook. Plus a full grocery store. I love this store! In addition to groceries, there's a grand piano at the entrance, lots of little food bars where you can order food, or wine. They'll even cook something you buy in the grocery section. I ordered clam chowder, and it was as good if not better than at most restaurants. The one downside, for me, is the extensive choices of items in the store, like the cheese section. It's easy to spend more time than you think. If you like to browse the aisles like I do, it's great, but it can be harder if you just want to pop in for a couple last minute items. Some days, it's hard just to make it past that lengthy desert counter cuz it all looks so good! Would definitely recommend the store, especially if you're looking for some specialty items in addition to standard grocery items. read more

I had been going to the Mariano's in Wheaton since they started booming in this area, but I've been going to this location a LOT more often. This one does have a bit more - a guacamole bar, a wine bar, etc. It always seems to be on the crowded side no matter what time I go, but I never have any problems, nor even a very long wait checking out, the place is always fully staffed. I've been frequenting this place lately for all my grocery shopping as I've been receiving $10 off $50 coupons in the mail which is NOT hard to do at this place! I bought a red cabbage cranberry walnut slaw from the food case that sounded delicious... after I tasted it I grabbed the container to read the ingredients .... besides the red cabbage,cranberries, and walnuts , I found sulfites , preservatives and caramel color ! So the salads are not that fresh and healthy as you are led to believe .... and you could taste it ! I have been going to Mariano's Naperville location ever since it opened. I am seeing the employees attitude towards the customers deteriorating day by day. I usually ignore and move on. But, today's action by their store clerk Patrick and another girl made me write this. This guy, refused to check me out as I had little over 15 items under 15 items or less lane. Wish i had taken a picture to post it here. My brain got numb seeing their attitude and drama as it got me by surprise. At the same time, similar counter across the aisle checking out people with their cart full. Its not that, i just walked in to the Clerck, i waited in line for my turn several minutes before reaching this guy who's trying to turn me away. The point to be noted was, there was no one behind me in the Patrick's lane. After I called out another store employee this girl came out and tells him to checkout but he refuses and the same girl turns to me and has nerves to tell me, even if there is no one on the lane, you can't checkout in this lane. I have to argue and made that guy check me out. This has never happened to me here or anywhere. I have failed to understand the logic, you provide more checkout lanes or be flexible to the customers. I will never return to this store again, simply because the store employees think they are something great and the customers are liable to use them. Looks like, the management is not doing anything to fix it or the employees are simply reflecting the managements attitude. Good bye Mariano's!!. Never go to this location and I realized I won't ever again. It's not the store or associates it's the customers that were extremely rude! I came in being pregnant and with my 9 yo and we were rushed and side eyed the entire time. Especially at the self checkout. Customer service from the bagging help needs improvement. While shopping with my two toddler boys today, we decided to use two of the provided toddler carts, which to say he least...they both did well with throughout the store and were even stopped by strangers to be given compliments. Now, I'm admitting that I probably should have grabbed a larger cart as well...however, while checking out, the young teenage girl was more concerned about my children looking at the neighboring cash register and stating that her manager would probably be upset seeing the boys touching the drawers and keys vs. thinking about asking me "Hey, can I go grab you a larger cart to fit your bags". Instead, I was able to manage my children along with grabbing all of the bags which did not fit into both kid carts and took off by myself to place them all into a larger cart so that I could get everything and everyone out to the car. I am not one to ever except help out to my car, but at least to grab me a larger cart to place all groceries in...yes, hat would have been a very good reason to accept help today. I guess I expect more when it is clearly obvious that my "hands are full". Usually, well trained workers have the dignity to notice when help is needed and will extend their arms to do so. This review is based on the salad and hot bars. Uber selections of different ingredients to add to my salad. I chose spring garden mix with cucumbers, eggs, onions and red onions marinated in some type of dressing. I also topped it off with some grilled chicken and black olives. There were so many options to choose from but I didn't want to build a $20 salad. I believe it cost about $6.99 a pound. The hot bar has several types macaroni options incluing, I believe buffalo mac if I'm not mistaken was one them. A nice balance between, proteins, veggies and carbs. I gave the Naperville Mariano's 2 tries, but mistakes kept coming... first cake, they spelled a word wrong, a common word at that, but they fixed it after I came back the next day( after 3pm there is no one that can fix anything) so i tried it again for a 2 tiered cake for a shower. They did not use the drawing at all that the order taker/baker did and they mixed up the fillings. The cake also fell apart when we went to cut it and they said it served 40 people and it actually served 20...and we needed it to serve 28. I won't be giving them a 3rd chance needless to say.. read more

Having my groceries in this store for the past few months is always a good idea, and I would say that I like this store. I sometimes use curbside pick-up and in-store shopping, and either is nice. I sometimes use Pickup when I only want a few things, and it is convenient and the products are always accurate too. I mostly shop inside for my regular groceries, which means a really large number of groceries. I also like the fact that the store has a spacious parking lot, which is really good and easy too. The store is clean and bright, and it has a nice layout. Everything they have here is literally good, but most of my favorites are their seafood and meat sections, where there is a huge variety of options. Their meat and seafood are always fresh, as is their produce. As for their bakery, everything is always freshly baked and anything I would get tastes good. They have a particular selection where various products from different countries are available, which I like because I always visit and I always pick something interesting and useful, especially in cooking. This Mariano's is great but I wanted to leave this review for the bakery - the lady who was supposed to do my baby shower decorations cancelled on me the morning of my baby shower. Me and my sister had to scramble to find desserts for the shower and the ladies at the bakery reallly helped me out (whoever worked the morning of August 27 ! ) they literally helped me find everything pink they could find and helped me to the register with all the stuff. As much as I didn't want to shop here on a regular basis, it is now my go to store. It's close to home and the prices on grocery items are actually competitive. I love, love, love their guacamole station and their tortilla chips!! I also like their paninis and lunchmeat. Their craft beer section is decent and you can get beer from the walk in cooler if you're ready to start drinking right after grocery shopping (which usually is a must for me). The store is clean and the employees are fairly helpful. I'll continue shopping here as long as the quality remains high and prices remain fairly low. read more
