I have wanted to dine at Maria's Old Town 21 for a few years & finally this week I got to realize my wish to dine there. The entrance to the restaurant was like walking into Italy. The decor was absolutely breathtaking. The space itself is HUGE. There is ample space for large groups, as well as, space to accommodate special events. I literally could not get enough of just looking at the Beauty & Majesty of the restaurant. Once we were seated, our server Steve was courteous, attentive & knowledgeable about menu options. We ordered the She Crab & Mushroom soups as appetizers, as well as, the Oysters Rockefeller. Our soups were bursting with flavor & very fulfilling. Both soups were seasoned perfectly. The Oysters Rockefeller were ample in size & earthy in flavor. They were not the best both my daughter & I had tasted but they were also not the worst either. As our entrees, we ordered the Baked Sicilian Spaghetti & the Seafood Pasta with vodka sauce. Both dishes were absolutely delicious & the portion sizes were substantial. We definitely had leftovers. Although this was my first visit to this establishment, I literally cannot wait to return. It was the perfect location for a peaceful& fulfilling lunchtime dining experience. Overall, loved everything! I loved how the place looked inside! Couldn't decide between the spaghetti or chicken Alfredo so I let the waitress. She said she likes both but the Alfredo sauce more because they make that fresh for every order. So I went with the chicken Alfredo. And it satisfied my expectations and cravings for pasta!! I came here with my family for a Saturday dinner; four people were in my party. Upon arriving, I walked in as my party had already arrived and was at the front desk. We were seated promptly upon my arrival. The waiter was kind but was busy due to having a table of 20 that she was attending to. She promptly gave us refills throughout our experience. I ordered appetizers for the table, which included calamari and fried mozzarella balls. I found the calamari disappointing and wouldn't order it again, but the Mozzarella balls were delicious and I would recommend them. I then ordered Atlantic Salmon with mashed potatoes. The salmon was ok; it was seasoned and flavored very well, but it was nothing to write home about. However, I enjoyed the mashed potatoes. Overall, the food that was ordered by everyone else in my party looked delicious, and they seemed satisfied. We ordered the lava cake with vanilla ice cream for dessert, which was really good. I enjoyed the live Jazz music that was playing. I would give this experience a 3/5, but I think it's due to the food I ordered, as the rest of my party seemed thoroughly satisfied. read more

Loved loved Maria's! They are highly recommended and rightfully so. Delicious gluten and gluten free pizzas. My celiac family appreciate the gluten free pizza isn't so small like other places. The cheese and crust of the gluten pizza are amazing. The gluten free crust is thin but still divine. They also serve great gelato! Lovely restaurant, servers, food. Was able to walk in and sat right down. Waitress was friendly and ontop of everything. Refilled drinks without us even asking. Food came out fast and everything tasted good. I love the different style varieties they have for handhelds. As well as different entree range to pick from pizza, pasta, handhelds, salad, grill, ect. I hosted a post-funeral luncheon for 75 on Sat. 4/26 and everything ran like a well-oiled machine. Vincenza was a delight to work with, the menu I chose was delicious: salad, pasta, roasted veggies, chicken piccata, and mini cannolis, the price per plate was reasonable, and portions were generous. The staff were attentive and polite and the atmosphere was perfect. We felt like we were dining al fresco in a courtyard in Italy! Service was good. Young lady made my friend a mojito and she said it wasn't bad. I had a hot water with lemon and never got a refill or asked if I needed one. She was busy though... Ambiance- very nice. Food: meh. Although the calamari was fresh and crisp, it was cold!!! Who serves cold calamari but I didn't complain. Pizza- not what I expected. There was a nice crispness on the bottom but the balsamic drizzle on top was out of context with the other toppings. The Rustica had a twangy taste that threw off the garlic, and spinach. I wasn't a fan but I ate it. From now on I'm going to ask if a restaurant immediately adds gratuity. I'm not about to give someone 20% of my money automatically when they did not provide 100% service. Not a fan of restaurants springing this on their customers with the bill and not telling customers beforehand. Good upsell for business but not worth it. 63 bucks for a pizza, cold calamari, and one mojito. I didn't get a refill on water and that's all I drank. But I just was forced to pay 10 gratuity. Smh. Excellent, fresh and authentic Italian fare. We arrived at opening and were immediately seated. All appetizers, drinks and entrees came promptly and were correct. Our group had a range of items from eggplant parm to lasagna to stuffed salmon- everyone enjoyed their items. The portion sizes were generous and the service was excellent! Very friendly and attentive. The entire place was clean and well lit, and if we lived closer (it's a 16-hr drove for us from home to this place), we would eat here regularly. Well this was our first time we've been here and we loved it. Clearly this wasn't a mistake because when I posted on FB that we were here, many of my friends mentioned how they also loved the place. Wife had Seafood Ravioli. I guess it was stuffed with lobster, shrimp and scallops. She really enjoyed it and the one piece (only one) she allowed me to have tasted great. I had Alfredo pasta and added chicken for $3. Let me say I really enjoyed this and I hope the amount of chicken I got wasn't a fluke. Seemed like a bunch of thin cut, very tasty pieces. It really added to the meal. The next time I might add shrimp for $4. I wish I remembered our servers name. But they young fella was very pleasant. Well worth the 20+% tip we gave him. Tonight they also had a fella singing Frank Sinatra. He made the already wonderful atmosphere that must better. Even dropped a few in his jar. So welcome to Petersburg! We were seated and then watched both tables who sat down after us get their orders taken. As we were leaving the hostess and manager (and owner?) couldn't understand why we chose to leave. He then said she's in the bathroom, you just have to wait. Actually the waitress that was 'in the bathroom' tried to wait on another table and when confused as to which table she had, she walked out of sight. We were never greeted, asked if we had questions or even given the opportunity to order a drink. We decided to give this place another try. It's a beautiful restaurant, the food was delicious, Dee was our waitress and she made it a bar atmosphere but very family friendly. Our son has a dairy allergy and she was so thoughtful to make sure his spaghetti didn't have any dairy. She took his order first, this is an experienced mother, who knows when kids are being kids! I came into the restaurant with my husband on a late Friday afternoon around 330 PM. There was no wait and the restaurant was not busy at all. The facility looked very clean and well put together. We sat at a booth near the bar area. Our waitress Maria was very knowledgeable and helpful in deciding what to order, as well as very attentive to our needs. All of the food was delicious. My husband loved the seasoning on his steak. My spaghetti was amazing and so was the calamari. We also ordered 2 large pizzas to go and it was some of the best pizza we have had and we had in our travels all across the US. The prices were also very good. We took my daughter out for her 21st birthday with the family. 17 of us. We very much enjoyed the food although the service was very slow. There were a number of large parties that were being taken care of. Our server was as sweet as could be. He kept the drinks flowing and kept us well entertained while we waited for our food to come out. The restaurant also provides live entertainment. The gentleman that was singing did a very good job. So I called after googling the menu and finding a Philly Cheesesteak pizza that sounded yum. When the lady answered the phone she kindly told me that was not their menu but they could make me the pizza if I just described it to her. So I proceeded to describe the pizza and place my order for that and some wings. Our order was done in about 25 minutes. When I got home and opened the pizza box it was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen and smelled. It's like they went into my brain and designed the pizza from my very own thoughts. The pizza tasted as good as it looked and smelled, if not better. I got jalapenos on it and they diced them instead of just throwing them on there carelessly like most places do. This spread the heat out evenly for a nice spicy pie. The wings were good as well. Nothing to write home about, but a nice addition to our meal. read more

The spicy sauce overwhelms the toppings flavor wise so you may as well just get cheese only.
