Owned by Maria from Maria and the Diamonds, and Maria from They Call The Wind Maria, is this adorable little Mex food stand. Authentic AF. Located inside the incredible Mercado Central which is the most authentic Latin Food Hall you might ever find. I highly recommend you stop by and get some Mexican food here. This is real Mexican and they have tortillas and lots of other delicious snacks and they're cheap and delicious and very much a local business. All the places inside the Mercado Central are fantastic and I highly recommend checking them out. This one is five star all the way. One of my favorites in the market. Skip the Midtown Global Market if you have to so you can come here and get real Latin experience instead of the tourist one.

The hamburgers and tortas here are pretty good. Quality is OK, and prices are what you'd expect. I'd say Maria's is a good addition to the Mercado Central lineup. So far I've had hamburguesas Lujo and Toreada. I intend to return to try the Hawaiian burger, as well as the other tortas. The only downside of getting food here is that the service can be very unfriendly if you don't speak Spanish. I am accustomed to some language barrier when ordering food at ethnic restaurants (especially in highly segregated Minneapolis), but not this level of outright rudeness. It's enough to dampen the experience. I'll update this review as I try other menu items, and will make a note if the service ever gets friendlier.

Great food and friendly service from sisters operating this warm place with a private patio in back and lots of beautiful plants.

I got the buttermilk chicken sandwich and it was perfection. It was the perfect amount of crispy, the sourdough matched perfectly, there wasn't too much cheese, and the pickles in the side were so good (tasted homemade). The fries would melt in your mouth and I could not get enough. Definitely want to come back and get their actual Asian food! Great spot if you're in uptown.

An industrial design bar with deep oak accents, a black and white tiled floor, and large globe hanging lights. A large L shaped bar extends towards the back of the bar where you can view the open kitchen. I had the Asian slaw salad with katsu chicken. It was fantastic. Lightly dressed with a thinly sliced and breaded chicken thigh on top. Perfectly cooked with a beautiful crunch from the thin breading. A perfect lunch that wasn't too heavy. 14 drafts offering a good selection of craft beers from all over the cities. Top shelf liquor options as well and some typical light beers and wines. Fast and friendly service. I'll be back again if I'm in the neighborhood.

A great beer selection and cocktails that looked delicious but the server didn't seem to know very much about either. The brussel sprouts were my favorite part, you have to try them if you come here. I got the bacon truffle burger with no bacon and the impossible patty substituted and it was quite tasty but nothing very special to be honest, most restaurants could replicate it so I thought it was a bit overpriced. I got the sweet potato fries with it which were delicious and came with an amazing chipotle aioli but they forgot to bring them out and I had to remind the serve about them. Overall, service and ambiance were great. We were checked in on just enough and felt very comfortable. The food was between good and great, some things were incredible and some weren't too special but still tasty. I would come back here but not on my own dime.

Nightingale always provides a wonderful experience. My spouse and I stopped in on the Friday…read moreevening of Memorial Day weekend, thinking it wouldn't be crowded. Wrong. Nightingale was packed, but fortunately, once two patrons saw my face from the bar, they quickly paid their bill and left. My face often compels people to vacate crowded establishments in Minneapolis, and we often find seats. After grabbing the two seats, we ordered wine and a wonderful Amaro-based cocktail. Jules was our bartender/server, and although he was crazy busy, he found time to be gracious to us. We ordered the meatball appetizer, halibut, and the Nightingale hamburger. My halibut was sublime, cooked perfectly, and it wasn't drowned in sauce. Bravo! The meatballs were tender and delicious, but the hamburger was not memorable. It was good, not great. Despite all the accolades above, when the bill came, I was charged two dollars after requesting a cucumber slice for my Pimms Cup. Perhaps the source of this pettiness came from the kitchen, but it wasn't smart, because the $2.00 charge placed a shroud over my experience. The bill was $125, and because of the petty two-buck charge, I only left a $25 tip. I was going to leave a $30 tip. I will sadly remember those 2 bucks forever. It was a myopic move and a passive-aggressive way to handle my request. In my birthplace home of NYC, a bartender would have said, "Getting a cucumber slice is a pain in the rear, would you mind skipping it?" My response, "Sure, it's not a big deal."

The service was genuinely friendly and pleasant throughout our visit, which went a long way. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the setting. I tried the NY Strip special, which was fine but nothing memorable - exactly what you'd expect, no more, no less. The oysters were disappointing for the price point; the quality just wasn't there. The mushroom bruschetta similarly underwhelmed - it felt like it was missing something to make it stand out. The bright spot? The drinks were solid and well-crafted. I wanted to rate this higher based on the atmosphere and service alone, but at the end of the day, the food has to deliver. With so many great options in Minneapolis, Nightingale needs to step up its culinary game to match its lovely setting. I'd consider returning for drinks, but probably not for dinner.

This place does get busy so definitely keep that in mind. Luckily I made reservations ahead of time so we had a table waiting for us, otherwise we would have been put on a waiting list since it's a small space. They put us in a corner booth which was nice and spacious enough for 4 people so I'd definitely recommend asking for a booth verse a table if you're planning to come with a larger group. The servers are all very friendly and helpful. I appreciated their attentiveness and sharing what they like best, especially for what's in season based on the time of year. The menu has quite a bit of variety too which is sometimes unexpected when you come to a pub-style location. For appetizers we got Onion Ring and Fried Pickles. They were both really good and served with dipping sauces. Definitely both shareable items so if you're in a group they'd be great options! My entree I chose the Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon served with lemon soy marinade, creamy cucumbers, and jasmine rice -- it was SO good!! I loved the creaminess of the cucumbers especially with the rice and than the lemon soy marinade was just a unique touch to the salmon. Toned the flavors down without overpowering acidity. And the salmon was so dreamy, a beautiful pink color that you just knew it wasn't a farm raised salmon. Plus the portion was very generous!! I'd definitely recommend the Alaskan Sockeye Salmon to anyone interested in visiting here. #eatwildsavewild The only negatives (which are more so just knowledge bombs for you): * Restaurant is VERY loud. It's hard to hear because it is one small room that everyone plus the bar is in. I wished I would have took a picture to show what I mean. Just know that if it's an intimate setting you're looking for this is not the place. So be prepared to talk loudly over the loudness and ask "excuse me?" or "repeat that" many times throughout your visit because you're not going to hear everything. * Timed eating. Because this place is a hit with limited seating, once you get a table and complete your meal/payment you'll kindly be asked to leave so that they can clean up and open the table to next in line. Totally get that and am not put off by this at all, but I could see how it could catch some folks off guard especially if you are out for a meal with folks you may not see frequently-- so just keep that in mind. This is not the place to sit and talk post meal. * Parking is limited. Be prepared to walk a few blocks as the road parking in front of the business is pretty limited especially with the other stores and restaurants in the area. Regardless of those few bullets I highly recommend folks visit George & The Dragon. It's a really cool spot and the food was great! Plus theirs a malt shop right next door that looks yummy too, so definitely worth visiting and getting malts after for dessert.
