I'm rehoming the final kitten in a litter of six. Of all the vet clinics around the valley, I was able to swiftly get sweet Momo in for an appointment here after she had a reaction to her sutures from a spay at another clinic. Mind you, that clinic did nothing wrong but I work overnight and it's very difficult for me to drive outside Maricopa during the day. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff was very kind, and you can tell they genuinely love the animals that come through their doors.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I couldn't remember my appointment time because I'd been working the night before, and I still hadn't slept, but they placed us inside a room while I waited so Momo could be outside her carrier and move around. The technicians and doctors gave wonderful advice on cat care and instructions for the new owner once she makes the transition to her new home, and I can't say enough how grateful I am for this because there were admittedly some things I didn't know about kittens even after doing my own research. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have one tiny quibble, which is that I never received a phone call, text, or email to confirm my appointment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'd written it down but again, I just couldn't remember the time and second guessed myself on it because I was worried I might have written down the wrong time or that I would be late and miss the appointment altogether. I would have liked the confirmation. But overall, I am very happy with the services I received, and I am glad to recommend this clinic to the person adopting Momo. I would never take my dog to this hospital. I went with my Frenchy several years ago because there was something growing on her rather fast. The veterinarian looked her over and told me not to worry about it. It was nothing but an ingrown hair. I continue to watch it. It was cancer/fast growing and I lost her several months later. Be aware of a "hidden policy". Their business...their rules. My pets, my choice. We've used Maricopa Wells many times in the past 9 years or so for our pets. Our initial experience with them was great, especially when we needed to get our dogs licensed (we moved to Maricopa about 10 years ago) due to a notice from the roving dog catcher. We used them several times for the next few years. Unfortunately when we contacted them for a rabies vaccination renewal, we were advised that we were unwelcome due to a late cancellation and a no-show years ago. To our recollection, we never failed to show as scheduled and as for the cancellation...it might have been late. We don't remember it, but given that there have been times when other veterinarians were able to see one or more of our pets for serious injuries or illness sooner...we might have cancelled late....once. As requested, we wrote an email to Kaitlin requesting reconsideration....which was never answered. So....be careful and pay attention to their policy on cancellations. To our recollection, we were always told "OK", and if appropriate would have paid a fee. You may be BANNED! Yeah...we're disappointed and yeah we're grouchy. Apparently they don't like when you have to take your dog to a specialist for his skin allergies and said because I asked the specialist to request his medical documents they won't see me here at this location anymore... my Opie needed special care for his skin allergies. I'm trying to bring my new puppy here to have a vet for him and they said no. I just brought this sweet innocent angel baby bunny who was hit by a car to this vets office in hope it was opened but upon arrival I was too late, so my friend and I are standing outside this office wondering what to do and these two Godsend angels come out and ask what's wrong, when presented the poor bunny they immediately told me they were able to take it and put it to sleep and end it's suffering. Absolutely love Dr. V and her staff. We needed an appointment for a rescue puppy-check and were on a deadline if we needed to return the pup for whatever reason. After not being able to get an appointment at the other vet in town (who we thought was going to be our regular vet), Maricopa Wells was able to squeeze us in the next day. Dr. V and every staff member we had contact with were extremely caring and very professional. Never felt hurried as we asked all our questions. We left with our new pup and made appointments for our other two dogs for the following week. Just as they were with the puppy visit, our next two visits were the same, receiving great care and again, never feeling rushed. Our older dog is having a few issues and Dr. V took the time to explain what was going on, why, and what our options are. She answered the questions without ever making me feel dumb for asking, and she explained in everyday language, not vet speak. I am so happy to have found this vet clinic and Dr. V. Getting turned away from the other vet was a blessing in disguise. Maricopa Wells Vet Clinic is now our regular vet and I have no doubt that if an emergency came up, they would be able to get us in within a reasonable time frame. How this place still open? My went for rabies vaccine and she keeps adding exams to check for thyroid and another exam to see if she had something in her belly. All in the same day! I ended up paying $520 and they didn't give me the results. After complaining that I was supposed to get the results, they sent me a Rottweiler dog result and my dog is a chihuahua. I called again and they said it would take 10 days to get the results. I wish I knew how to do a formal complaint so they would be more professional. read more

I have taken my dogs to this practice for years. Recently I took my dog in for an exam so that he could have more of his valley fever medication. He was diagnosed early in 2021. He had a titer test in January of this year to check his levels, which they said at that time were the lowest they could be. The Dr. wanted to keep him on meds and retest at later date. When I needed refill they called me and told me he had to come in for an exam. Okay. The next month when his meds ran out, not sure why it was only filled for one month, they called and said - he needs to be tested again. I was upset. This was not communicated at the visit the month before. The receptionist was very rude, talking over me, putting words in my mouth. I went for the test and was informed that he was at the lowest levels possible, same as the previous test a few months before - but now they wanted to stop the meds. AND since I was concerned that they were scheduling unnecessary tests to charge people more, they were also forwarding my dogs' files to find a new vet. I got the files, and was very irritated by the notes the receptionist put in there, but it confirmed for me the staff does not listen, and does not care about you or your pets. I thought the communication issues were due to the high turnover, now I can just see the facility is poorly run. Go somewhere else for your pet's care. read more

Seems to be the same complaint as most of the other reviews. I had very good service for my three dogs. Very good treatment when one had to be put to sleep. No problems getting shots, exams, etc. BUT then our 7 yr old had to have her teeth cleaned. The estimate started at $1000 and went to $2200. I never had to pay over $500 and that included extractions at a vet in Phoenix. I checked around and found a vet for around $300-500. Apparently when I asked for her shot record they sent me her entire history in an email. At this point without telling me both my dogs were put on inactive and would not be allowed back into their office. I liked the vet, but never guessed her attitude that it's her way or the highway. read more

I'm kind of surprised by the negative reviews. Wells has been our go-to for ALL our pets needs, since we've lived in Maricopa (Aug 2018). Dr. V is always personable and honest. I don't know about you but I don't want anything sugar coated. Her staff is also awesome and helpful. Most recently, we had a semi urgent need for our adult cat to be seen. Dr. V, like every other vet, is completely slammed, with a full schedule. I called first thing in the AM and was NOT expecting Ranger to be seen that day, I was hoping the next day or following. To my surprise Dr. V worked him into her schedule. Yes, he was there ALL day but he was seen, and a "work in" with a complete schedule is tough to do. Furthermore, it wasn't an easy thing, our cat needed blood work, x rays, hydration, etc. Dr. V called us several times to provide updates, etc. Many thanks to everyone who helped us at Wells. I've been going to Dr V since she opened in 2005. She's the best vet! Always takes time with her patients and their owners. She listens, she asks lots of questions to truly understand concerns. Dr. V is very thoughtful in her approach. Many times there are several options that may work for the owner and their pet and she's very thorough in giving you those choices. The staff at Maricopa Wells veterinary Hospital are also very thorough, thoughtful, and amazing with all of our fur babies! I have only had one issue in all of the years I've been there and it was with a staff member but I brought the information to Dr. V's attention and she handled it immediately. I am fostering a 10 month old German Sheppard from a rescue in Glendale. Found she still had staples in her from when she was spayed in December (now 4 months ago). On Monday I called Maricopa Wells Vet Hospital to get them taken out. Appointment was set for Friday afternoon...... Got to the vet 10 minutes early. They didn't call for her until 35 minutes after her scheduled appointment and then said they wouldn't take them out because she was too excited and bit the tech. Told me to take her back to where the surgery was done. Well... that's in Holbrook AZ - 210 miles from me and as I said, I'm fostering the dog. You'd think a proper vet would have procedures in place for young, active pets like this one. What am I to do now? The only other vet in town doesn't answer their phone. Brought our cat in for a consultation and everything seemed pretty normal. Dr. V was knowledgeable and seemed to care. A biopsy was taken that day and we heard back the following day. We were told we should go forward with surgery sooner than later and that they'd get back to us with a quote. I called the office 4 days after the consultation to check on the status and they had no info yet. I called back the following day and asked how long a quote usually takes. I was told it normally only takes a couple days. Dr V was in surgery at that time and the receptionist said she'd make sure Dr. V called me back that day after surgery. One week later, I hadn't heard a peep from the office. This was almost 2 weeks after the consultation. I called them and found out that they still did not have a quote finalized but that it would be somewhere between $800 and $1700. I told them, money aside, we would never take our pet back in to a place that can't even make a quick phone call to keep us updated. The thing is, your communication (or lack of) says a lot about how you do business. If the people paying the money are forgotten about, how do we know the pets aren't forgotten about? read more

My cat, Tater was diagnosed with an advanced form of oral cancer. She was in great pain and had lost interest in doing the things she loved to do. Doctor V. was so caring and so gentle. While it will be a while before the pain of my loss will wear away, the memories I have of Tater and the last moments of her life as Dr V, her assistant and I sent tater to be with the angels, will remain. She went out with what she had of her dignity and Dr V. made that experience bearable. I don't know if I will ever have another pet as that isn't foremost in my mind right now, but If I do, Dr. V will be his or her vet. read more

We have been bringing our dog to MWVH for at least 7 years. She is near the end of life and asked to have her seen tomorrow. I was told no. I asked again, you can't squeeze her in. No. I was told to take her to the emergency vet. I asked where it was and was told in Chandler on Alma School rd. I asked why the have "Hospital" in their name because they are not. Dr. Patty at South Point Animal Clinic saw both our previous dogs the same day when they were at the end of life. We will not use MWVH when we get our next dog. read more

I'm upping the stars to 5. Let me explain why. Our boxer dog, Ali (say Allie), was diagnosed with mast cell tumors about a year ago. Recently one of her tumors ulcerated, so I set up an appointment for her to see Dr. V. Ali must have remembered Dr. V as being the one who removed her skin tag a while back. She was very nervous and trembling. Dr. V took extra time to calm her with soft words and ear scratches. :) When Ali was ok, she started her exam. I told Dr. V that with Ali's age (11 or 12, we aren't sure), we wanted to do palliative care only. So Dr. V explained what that entailed. My sweet boxer has her faults though. She's aggressive towards dogs her size and larger. I always remind the staff of this so we can be cautious. Because there were two large dogs in the waiting room, the vet tech handled Ali and ushered her outside without incident. Dr. V and her staff truly care about the animals they see. That's so important for me because Ali is family and deserves the best. read more

What a great experience from the moment we walked through the door. They fit us in for my fur baby to be seen due to an injury, the entire staff and the Doctor were wonderful. Took the time to explain the condition and the options. The practice is very well set up and everyone is caring and compassionate, if my pup hadn't been in such pain he would have been begging for more attention. How does this place stay in business? I call for an appointment and it always goes to voice mail with never a call back even though I am very clear to leave a number. I had trouble getting a prescription for my cat called into the pharmacy. I kept calling the pharmacy who said they received nothing. I then called Maricopa Wells who said they already called it in and refused to call again. It took several days, and finally I called Dr. Moyer at VAC hospital to get it done. I took my dog in for a puppy wellness exam and vaccinations. The vet tech and doctor were VERY nice and very affectionate to my puppy. They seem to really love animals. The vet took time to answer all of my questions and talk to me. I did not feel like she was rushing me out of there as I have with some vets in the past. They even gave my dog a treat to distract him while he was getting his shot. :) I had to wait about half an hour after my appointment time to be seen, so that's why I'm giving it 4 instead of 5 stars. That could just be because it was a busy Monday morning. Overall great experience and easy to get to. read more

My standard poodle has been seen by the doctor at Maricopa Wells vet clinic since I got him and I called today to schedule an appointment for a check on an issue he has. The receptionist scheduled an appointment for me for Thursday. Today is Monday. I was fine with that and was about to hang up when the receptionist informed me, "Oh, hang on a minute. There's a note in the computer not to schedule you." I was very surprise so I asked her why. At first she wouldn't tell me until I finally asked, "Did I do something wrong?" After prodding, she informed me that in April, eight months ago, I had scheduled an appointment and I no showed. I do not recall having an appointment and I would never intentionally miss an appointment for my animals. I looked at my calendar for that month and I had nothing there. I'm thinking that somehow there must've been a mixup. I can see this type of response if I had a pattern of behaviors that was costing the doctors some money, but that was not at all the case. One missed appointment and I'm exiled. I let the receptionist know that I was unaware I had missed an appointment. Also, I stated that if I owe the Vet some money for a missed appointment I would be glad to pay. I was met with a frosty, cold reply that she would inform the doctor and then she canceled my appointment. It was at this point i told the receptionist to please also inform the vet that I have a choice regarding who I take my animals to and she's not it. Chandler it is... By the way; I will modify this review if I get a call back from the office to try to resolve this problem. read more

We just moved here and everyone in this place is fantastic! They are organized, clear communicators, they LOVE animals, and I find their prices completely affordable. Maybe I am just used to prices from another state, but I really couldn't believe how inexpensive they were. Granted, I did not shop around. However, what is most important to me is not the cost, but the quality of care I receive. They seem to be most concerned with the health of the animal and doing what is necessary to care for each animal according to what it needs. I observed them with other animals while I waited and they gave each pet (and owner) very focused, attentive care. I was impressed! Anyone who loves their pet should consider MWVH first! read more

I have always enjoyed bringing my fur baby to Maricopa Wells Vet., and the reception was very pleasant. However, all my perception of the facility has gone to the dogs, no pun intended. Since Covid 19 became an issue, Maricopa Wells took the situation beyond serious to the point it's ridiculous and unnecessary. When I made an appointment for her eye allergy, I was given a time of 8:45 am and I was required to drop my fur baby at the facility. That's not the bad part, no face to face contact with their staff is allowed, when I got to the facility, I had to call and explain my visit. All the discussions were done over the phone. I have to wait for 20 minutes before someone peeked by the door to grab my fur baby and I was told that they will call me when she's ready to be picked up. I did not get a call from the Dr. until almost 5 pm. I appreciate the conversation with Dr. V when she explained her diagnose and the treatment. When I got to the facility, I had to call again to notify them that I am outside waiting to pick up my fur baby. Every details of the transaction were done over the phone, the payment method, giving your credit card number etc. Nothing at all were done with personal touch. I understand that they are protecting their staff from contamination of Covid 19, but boy, they are overdoing it, worse than Banner Health Center or Regional Hospital where patients are humans not dogs/cats. I probably will never see a 5 star review form anyone going forward until they find a vaccine for the dogs/cats yes for the dogs/cats because they have the vaccine for humans so why are they operating in this fashion. read more

Sadly I do not have a good review. Like most relationships it started out really good...I had taken my cat to Maricopa Wells when I moved to the 'copa and they were attentive and kind.... More recently (Nov 14 to be exact) I took my dog who has recurrent seizures and had her blood work done, and this visit was great, no complaints. They didn't find any specific reason as to why she was having seizures and the Dr advised me that if she has another one to contact the office and they will fill a prescription for an anti seizure medication....here's where it starts to go down the pooper...Right on schedule, my lovely Bella had a seizure 3 weeks later. I called the office and was told that there was no record of a prescription and that (according to the notes) there wasn't anything in the blood-work indicating a need for a prescription, but she would put a note in the file and have the Dr. respond and would call me back. Life happens I didn't get a follow up,....a month later, she had another seizure, I called the office, same conversation ensued...no call back. A month later she had another seizure, I called the office SAME conversation....Seeing a pattern here?? Fast forward to 3 weeks ago, I called the office AGAIN, same conversation. I asked 'why aren't there notes of these conversations', sensing my frustrating, she said I will send it over to the Dr and call you back TODAY. Two days pass, I call the office again..."It looks like the Dr started to enter the notes and didn't finish..." I will have her finish and call you back TODAY." Two more days pass, I call the office again...."oh it looks like here she needs to know if shes had a seizure since her visit in November" ...Naturally, I'm over this (and worried about my baby, since her seizures are getting worse) and remind her sternly 'Yes she had a seizure on this date in December when I called, and in January when I called and in February when I called and in March when I called....why isn't this information in the notes and why didn't you call me if you had questions AFTER promising me a return call same day?!?!' She responded, "I will talk to the Dr and call you back TODAY" 2 more days pass, and she calls and says "we need to get Bella's weight for the dosage, can you bring her in?" At this point....I feel like she's giving me medication because I asked for it and I keep calling... I UNDERSTAND, you work at a Vet clinic and you see hundreds of animals a week and I UNDERSTAND that EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMER thinks they are the most important and their animals are their babies and every situation is urgent! (At least I do...) If you don't want to treat customers with honesty and respect that their *babies* health are as important to you as they are to them, you need to find a new industry to work in. Currently I am fighting them to get MY records so I can go to another highly recommended vet and not have to pay $300+ for the same blood work.... Evidently the Dr has to sign off permission to allow the Office to send me MY PET's records. And there isn't a timeline on when that can be done..."It might take 2 weeks..." Since I don't like to be unhappy, or complain....seriously. Here's the good, if you are just going for a routine visit that doesn't require any follow up, you will probably be satisfied. They are friendly enough and personable and the Vet I saw *seems* knowledgeable. read more

I had an appointment for 10:15 AM. Arrived at 10:05 and checked in. The receptionist was very nice and told me it would be a few minutes. A few others arrived, 1 in particular had a 10:30 AM appointment. Time went on and they took the 10:30 AM first. After waiting until 10:45, I was taken to the exam room. The person, not the Vet, took the weight and temperature of my cat and said, just a few minutes. At 11;10 AM, this same person said there was only one more ahead of me. I asked why they made an appointment, when they were not going to meet it. She said that is how all Doctors work and I was a fill in appointment. That is not the way my Doctor works and I made the appointment 6 days ahead of time. At 11:15 AM, I left, not seeing anyone. Not sure if the Vets are any good, but from what I encountered, this place has a total lack of professionalism. read more

The vet tech was extremely friendly and made us feel welcome. Dr. V, although good with handling our puppy, made us feel like we were inconveniencing her with our questions. She prescribed my puppy some medication that they shorted us on (we paid for 20 pills and only got 10) requiring me to call, verify, and go back and pick up the remaining pills. Additionally, I had questions about spaying my puppy and her sister. I left messages with the receptionist over 3 days and never got a call back. I finally expressed my frustration and received a very short answer from the receptionist. I'll be picking up my remaining pills, and will not be back. read more

I have had a lot of bad experiences with veterinarians in the past, so when it was time to find a vet in Maricopa I was pretty much dreading it. After reading reviews of local veterinary hospitals, I chose Maricopa Wells because they had the best reviews. I am so glad I did! Our experience was great! Not only were all of the staff friendly and kind, but the vet tech was extra kind and gentle to our cat, Kimba, who is high strung and had urinated all over himself during the car ride to the vet. She took her time to make Kimba feel safe and comfortable before she began examining him. My husband and I (and Kimba) really appreciated that. When Dr. Black came in, she addressed all of our concerns and took a sample from Kimba's ear (we suspected ear mites) and went to look at it under a microscope to see if there were mites. There were. My favorite part was when Dr. Black came in and said she had found mites and asked if I wanted to see them. I totally did! I got to look at them under the microscope and it was sooooo cool! She then gave us a lot of information about how to treat the ear mites and how to make sure our other cats stay mite free. She was also very open and up front about all charges and was very respectful and mindful of our budget. It was so refreshing to go to the vet and not feel like they were pressuring me to run extra tests and to see genuine care and concern for my pet. She addressed the issues that brought us into the office, as well as issues we had mentioned in passing. She gave us a lot of great advice. She even typed up a note containing all of the information we had discussed so we wouldn't forget. This was the most painless vet visit ever, for me and for Kimba.
