I've been at Amor A Mi a few times for lunch and being gluten free I was afraid they couldn't accommodate but my plate came out not only looking beautiful but gluten free with a black corn tortilla that was delicious! I am so appreciative. I do wish they had gf bread and maybe yellow polenta but I'm thrilled to be able to eat here. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. The hosts never smiled, our server wasn't very friendly, and the overall atmosphere felt unwelcoming. The food tasted good but was served cold. I was also surprised that a Mexican restaurant doesn't serve Mexican rice. For me, a friendly atmosphere matters just as much as the food. Remarkable ambiance that adds to the dining experience. Perfect for date night, initiate dining, and family style eating. I want to start this review off by saying that the food tasted great. No issues there. The inside was also very nice. I loved the vibe. However, there were a few things that outshined the taste of the food. To start, our food was COLD. We had already waited about 20ish minutes. Honestly can't recall but enough time had passed by and we were just hungry. We drove in for business from the IE and had other things to do so we couldn't wait to have it be remade. But from the tortilla, the meat, and the beans it was cold. The only thing hot was the egg on top and so that makes me wonder how fresh everything was. Oh and the description of the plate says it comes with beans but tbh it's just a smear under everything. We ate what we could until the entire plate was too cold to enjoy. The agua de Jamaica was intense. I had to add water to balance out how strong it was. But once I added more water it was nice. What's funny about my Jamaica is that when I was served it our server literally said "here" and handed it to me. Which was funny to us because that's never happened to us anywhere. Usually you get a kinder approach like "here is that Jamaica" not just "here". And with that, the service was mediocre. It wasn't genuine or authentic. Which is kind of sad given the prices of the food and how upscale it is. You kind of expect a more authentic and overall amicable experience. But it wasn't. I found it on Yelp (of course) and so glad I gave it a try based on pictures and reviews. It's super cute and authentic in here. The staff is friendly and attentive and the food is delicious! Their attention to details is spot on. The dishes, music and decor are all from different regions of Mexico and I completely appreciate it. My family is from Belize right next door to Mexico so I love all the details. The chilaquiles were delicious and the Mexican Matcha was even better in the Oaxacan mug. We came Amor A Mi in Burbank for breakfast/brunch after finding it on yelp. The restaurant had recently opened, not too long ago. Right when you walk in theres this amazing aroma in the entrance you cant help but take notice. When I asked what it was, one of the waiters told me that they use a specific scent in the entrance area and almost always customers compliment them on it. The restaurant itself is very cute, aesthetically very Tulum. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was, especially the ceviche. It tasted like authentic Mexican ceviche. I loved it so much I ordered another one to go. Only sad part was for the to go order they had forgotten to include the tortilla chips. The service was great and the food was delicious! Birria especially goat or lamb is best served with fresh squeezed lemon and fresh condiments on the side for the palette's desire. Salsas and chips - fresh chips! Green salsa was good, red salsa had a flavor we couldn't pinpoint, canned chipotle maybe? Not our favorite. Tlayuda - not traditional, but the crunchy cheese layer was fun! We enjoyed it and would order one more for the table next time. Excellent and fresh Homemade Flour tortilla - yum! Homemade Corn Tortilla - a little dry, not too flavorful. I was in Burbank and wanted some breakfast that wasn't right next to the mall, this was the perfect spot! It was pretty busy so without a reservation we waited about 25 mins for a table of 2. I got the breakfast sandwich without chimichurri and it was absolutely delicious! It had thick cut bacon and lots of avocado. I also got a Mexican coke and it was just the perfect meal. I've been wanting to try this place out ever since it opened. I'm Mexican and I'm always searching for restaurants that have authentic flavors. As soon as I saw huitlacoche tacos on their menu, I knew I had to go. The inside was bigger than I expected with quite a few tables and plenty of bar seating. It would be a great place for a date or to have a conversation with friends. I love it when restaurants aren't deafening loud. I ordered the chips and salsa which was a generous serving and included both green and red salsas, a jamaica, a huitlacoche taco and their tlayuda norteña (skirt steak with veggies). Loved the salsa, especially the spicier green one but both lacked salt. The huitlacoche taco was tasty. The skirt steak was okay. The meat wasn't very tender, the entire plate also lacked salt. Also, it was served without a knife to help cut into the whole thing. I wouldn't order this again. Overall, I enjoyed my food and my time here and I'll probably be back. I was looking for some chilaquiles around the area and stumbled upon this cafe. I got chilaquiles verdes with carne asada added. Maybe the best chilaquiles I've had! The chips were freshly made and super crunchy. The green sauce was in the spicier side, but I still really enjoyed it! The steak is cooked medium and was very tender. The service was awesome. My friends daughters had the French toast but they didn't like it they all left more than half of their plate of the French toast, at that they didn't offer any kind of syrup. I've heard many good things about this restaurant so I decided to give it a try last weekend. It was surprisingly empty for a weekend afternoon. The space is beautiful: warm and welcoming, yet modern. Their brunch menu has several different options, some with a touch of Japanese fusion. I was intrigued! They also had a limited cocktail menu serving agave wine-based drinks. However, even though the space and menu piqued my interest, my experience left much to be desired. Since there are only three options for cocktails, I ordered a margarita. It was a straightforward drink. I had agave wine before, but this drink was a little weak. A $14 drink should not taste so watered down. The rim packed more of a punch than the actual drink. For food, I ordered their aguachile and tako (octopus) taco. The aguachile lacked flavor. The "agua" (marinade) was missing spice and sour notes. I don't know if this is how it's typically served here or if it was a bad batch, but I've had this dish many times before at other restaurants and there is so much depth of flavor and the marinade is usually less broth and a little more chunky from the blended ingredients. I will say that I at least liked the potato flautas that were mixed in. The octopus in the tako taco was cooked well. I enjoyed the texture. I would've enjoyed this more if it was just the octopus by itself. The menu listed a togarashi salsa macha. I didn't taste any of this on the taco. I love salsa macha and togarashi individually, so I was excited to try this fusion. Either the flavors were so subtle that they were not apparent or they forgot to add it. I hope (and assume) it's the latter because salsa macha has textural components that I would've noticed. Another miss on this was the tortilla. I love blue corn but my tortilla felt undercooked (and my friend's felt overcooked). I'm usually willing to give places a second shot, but after this restaurant was recommended by friends and oversold on social media, I'm unsure. It's possible they had an off-day in the kitchen and failed to cook things properly or add necessary ingredients. I know the server was new, but I don't know if the same applies to the kitchen staff. I hope this review serves a constructive purpose to reevaluate their menu items and preparation. read more

Pretty disappointed in our visit today. Stopped in around 2:30 for a friend's birthday lunch and only one other table was sat. They didn't have an aguas fresca of the day as listed on the menu so went with jamaica. Nothing special and smaller portion. I got the octopus taco which was the highlight of the meal. The side of refried beans however came out cold and crusty. We got a French toast for the table and it was burnt on the bottom. After our food was dropped off we never saw the server again to say anything and had to go to the bar to ask for the check. Prices on the menu don't reflect accurate pricing (side of refried beans is $3 on the menu but charged $4). Overall it was a mediocre experience with poorly cooked food and bad service so won't be back. read more

The service was very attentive even though we were sitting outside, and we were consistently checked on. Interior: clean, pretty standard, nothing to write home about. I would opt for the outdoor seating since it has a much cuter vibe! (There are only 2 tables outside though FYI). I ordered the French Toast and the portion was gigantic. Had a random weekday off and decided to try this spot. Every other time I've driven by on the weekend it was packed and of course for a good reason. The food here is delicious. From the ambiance of feeling like you're in a little Mexican town to the decor inside, takes you back to a place where a small town of food is happening. Kids chicken taco, flavorful however seems to be missing a little something, perhaps a dressing. Chilaquiles- perfection. Green sauce was over the top beyond flavorful and tasty, had a little spice but nothing you can't endure. Chicken sandwich - was my favorite. There was an aioli sauce that added a zest to the chicken along with its tenderness, overall excellent. Chicken taco masala - believe I spelled it wrong, however, if you're into that good flavor, it's good. Wasn't a big fan, however, I would try it if you're into the curry type flavor because the shredded chicken was really on point. I finally got the opportunity to check out this pretty, laid back spot. It's a tiny restaurant that is open to reservations. They were extremely kind over the phone and worked with me to make a reservation for about 10 people. While they were able to accommodate a large party for me, I would recommend this space for smaller groups. The food was delicious and I was impressed by the menu creativity, specifically the tinga masala taco, chino poblano tacos, and menoodles. I also loved the idea of a tres leches inspired French toast, but I would recommend the frenchicano toast as a strictly dessert menu item. As delicious as it was, it was incredibly sweet. Every taco and ceviche I tried also tasted amazing, but I was disappointed with the amount of meat in the ribeye taco. I understand it's a thin rib eye, but it honestly didn't feel like I was eating a taco with any meat and I'd rather have skipped it and tried another taco. I loved their coffee though! I have never seen a coffee shop offer flavors like palo santo or nogave. The mole mocha latte was also a favorite at our table. This is an odd little spot on Burbank Blvd. that has some odd hours. The menu, however, looked super interesting, so we made our way in for a Tuesday afternoon 'brunch.' The atmosphere is, honestly, a little weird. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I just never settled in. Service was good, but the layout meant he had to take long walks around the counter to get food, therefore things took a while. The food, however was very good to excellent. My wife got the chilaquiles with the barbacoa and I have to say, probably the best chilaquiles we've EVER had. Salsa Verde was delicious, as was the lamb barbacoa. SO freakin good! I tried three tacos; Huitlacoche, Spicy Tako Tacos (octopus), and the Chino Poblano (pork belly). All were super interesting and I enjoyed them. Octopus were probably favorite, pork belly were delicious, served on a sort of torta, and the huitacoche were good, I am happy I tried them, but probably not again. So, even though I just didn't love the whole vibe inside, the food was really good and I would go back.
