I have driven by this place many times. Always have their door open and today I decided to go and check it out. They have a very wide assortment of pastries and hey even serve food. It is one of those places where it feels good to be at with the fresh pastry smell and cool pastries surrounding you. The lady behind the counter was very helpful and we ordered a variety of pastries. Will defiantly come back for more. Decent price point as well!

Visited our local bakery and was greeted by Ivonne. We ordered two frappes and some pan dulce. Ivonne recommended adding banana to our frappes, she said we'd get hooked. She wasn't lying! They were SOO good . We already knew the bread was going to be good since we buy it often. The whole experience was great Ivonne is awesome! Sweet, welcoming, and over all great customer service! Definitely recommend coming in and paying them a visit.

Marilú Bakery me trae recuerdos gratos e inolvidables . Hace 9 años que la visito y, sin importar dónde viva, siempre regreso por sus molletes deliciosos y la amabilidad de las muchachas. ¡Un lugar que siempre se queda en mi corazón! "

    Spoiled tres leches cake.

Stopped by for some Pan Dulce and saw a delicious looking tres leches cake. Bad choice. Immediately after opening the package, a distinct smell came out. I brushed it off, but my first bite of this was chaos. This cake was spoiled! The smell was rancid milk!!! This cake was so old it was becoming cheese. I tried to return it and the lady at the counter blamed me and said it was because it was out. No. This cake was spoiled and being out for a couple hours (if even) does not cause rancid milk. I had such hope, but def do not recommend.

Moho en las teleras que venden, asco de lugar.

Nestled in a colorful part of a neighborhood in Long Beach, this is what I call mom and pop shop and they have yummy pan or conchas! They have a wide variety of flavors to choose from, and they deserve all our support so that they thrive in this economy for years to come. Thank you for being here and providing excellent service. I will be back, loved my blended coffee!

Food is excellent. The costumer service is great, attended as soon as we got in. It's always clean. Usually, we got to the second bakery for the pupusas and tortas, so it's nice to know we can get the tortas here too!

Nonna Mercato holds a special place in our hearts. They are like members of the family at this…read morepoint because we are there every week reliably. At least a few times. Nonna has become our go to bakery, our sweet retreat, and one of our favorite local brunch spots. Now, they even have happy hour and, during the summer, dinner (Nonna Summer Nights)! And all of the food is amazing. Seriously, truly legit! We buy bread from there each week. No more "big box store" bread you freeze. They make their bread fresh daily. They only use fresh, locally sourced ingredients with no preservatives. It's nice to look at an ingredient list and not see a paragraph for bread (and be able to pronounce all the names!). And their cupcakes and sweets. Yo, seriously so good. And the thing is, because of the ingredients they use, we don't feel heavy or overly wired after eating cake or cupcakes from them. From other places you can tell they use preservatives, refined sugars, processed ingredients. But with Nonna, you can just taste the difference. We even had them make our special cake for our wedding! We recently tried their dinner (twice!) and it exceeded expectations. Now, mind you, all of their food has always been good but our experience was amazing. Their prix fixe menu was well put together, wine pairings on point, dessert was also delicious. Our favorite was the tiramisu! Also loved the spaghattini and casarecce pastas, and entrecôte di manzo, but everything was great. Their brunch is also great, you really can't go wrong on the menu. And I think we've gone through almost all of it! Finally, (if you've stayed with me this long!) the absolute best thing about Nonna for us is the TEAM. Hands down no question. The food is good, space is a comfortable neighborhood vibe, and all that. But truly the folks here are amazing humans. Always friendly, warm, and welcoming. If the management team is reading this, you all have a great group of people there! We will definitely be back (again and again and again) and you should too!

My qualm about Nonna's is this: Baked goods already purchased cannot be eaten at dining table. So with that said, you're eating Baked Eggs with 2 small slices of bread that is not enough...and they will not let you grab a piece of bread you just bought at their bakery to dip into the egg sauce. WTH is that logic???? Honestly, not cool. And their bread is HELLA EXPENSIVE. If I'm going to buy your expensive bread and pay to sit at your table, WHY CANT I EAT THE BREAD I JUST BOUGHT? Makes no sense!! So now I make my own Baked Eggs and my own bread. I can eat as much as I want. 4/5 for Baked Eggs 1/5 for their bakery policy

Very cute cozy bakery. My partner and I ordered 1 slice of Dubai pistachio cream cheese cake, 1 chocolate chip cookie, 1 slice of upside down German Chocolate cake, and 1 cinnamon roll with the nuts and no icing. Service was great, such a sweet young lady that helped us. Here's my review on each item: Dubai Cheesecake - pretty presentation. It was good for the most part but I think I expected more. I personally wouldn't order again. Chocolate chip cookie - very good cookie. The right amount of chocolate chips and it was really soft which I enjoy my cookies soft. I would order another. German Chocolate cake - oh my god!!! That was one of the best German chocolate cakes I've ever had. I enjoyed how moist the cake was and the nutty texture on top was next level. I would definitely order another slice. The Cinnamon roll - this was my favorite thing we ordered. This cinnamon roll was to die for! Pillowy soft and the right amount of sweetness. The roll was so good with the nuts alone that I didn't even need or use the icing we asked for on the side. This was such a delight.

I've been a longtime fan and customer of Colossus and was super bummed when they had to shut down…read moretheir seating. I was so excited to try out their new and improved space for dinner! The decor is cozy and chic, and I like that they kept it spacious instead of cramming a ton of tables and chairs in. I especially loved the little table lamps! Our server was very nice and helpful when we had questions. Caesar salad: I LOVED this. Perfect balance of flavors with perfect crunch. Word of warning is that it is anchovy heavy (including anchovy filets on top), so if you like to pretend the anchovy aspect of Caesar salads doesn't exist, this might not be for you! Roasted chicken: Loved the crunch on this too, and the salad and polenta were nice additions. I think the polenta was my favorite part of this dish lol. Kale pistou pizza (asked for no onions): My least favorite dish. We didn't realize it was vegan but as someone who generally likes vegan food, it just lacked flavor and felt very dry overall. The sourdough crust was good, at least. Peach mess dessert: Omg, the star of the show! Such an amazing dessert top to bottom, I loved the mix of textures and flavors. I could eat this every day! I probably would've given this 4 stars due to the pizza being that bland, but the dessert really elevated this whole meal. Can't wait to see all their different menus throughout the seasons! I hope they add a happy hour soon and I hope to see the return of their patio at some point!

Lovely brunch at the newly opened cafe portion of Colossus bakery…read more Stopped by the bakery first to grab their Cardamom roll. Which was delicious very "cardamomy" flavored, crispy layers. Dusted with Swiss pearl sugar. Just really yummy. Saw the almond croissant. Said oh will stop again on our way out. BIG mistake. Of course they were gone by then. Opted for the sticky toffee bun. She recommended warming before eating. What a nice little treat to share with my husband after dinner! Back to the cafe. Newly added as an adjoining space was vacated next to the bakery. Industrial modern interior. Spacious with 20(?) tables. Partners opted for the 2 egg breakfast. Eggs cooked perfectly as ordered. One ordered an omelet. Beautifully made. Would make Jacques Pepin or Thomas Keller proud. Thick sliced bacon. Thick sliced multigrain toast. Small side of spring mix salad adorned with watermelon radish. Very nice entree if you're an egg lover. Shared the French fries. They're like the ones my grandma made. Thick sliced potatoes deep fried. Crispy outside. Soft inside. Brings back pleasant memories. Get these if you're a French fry fan. The mushroom dip (think French dip with variety of sautéed mushroom in lieu of beef) was GREAT! Mushroom not overcooked, Muenster cheese draped atop. Crusty baguette bread. Although the dipping sauce was vegan based, the roasted mushroom base added enough umami for a deeply flavored dip. My only complaint was the clusters of oyster mushrooms were laid horizontally following the length of baguette. Which presents well but was a bit challenging to bite through. I dunno, maybe my teeth aren't sharp. Overall an outstanding dish. So my dilemma now is when to return to try the other menu items which didn't make my first cut. Parking is....well ya know...it's 2nd St. So the driver needs to be a good parallel parker. Cute shoes optional but be prepared to walk.

They have two locations, one in Long Beach and one in Santa Ana. Their Long Beach location is located in a shopping plaza, and I didn't have any trouble finding parking. They had lots of different items in their bakery case to choose from! We had to get their OBRA Balls, which come with beef or chicken. Their OBRA Beef Ball has ground beef and mozzarella surrounded by mashed potato and deep fried. It was cheesier than I expected! The OBRA Chicken Ball is a more of a cone shape and has shredded chicken, aji amarillo sauce, and cheese surrounded by mashed potato and deep fried. Both were tasty! They serve it with a side of their spicy mayo and green salsa for dipping. They're known for their empanadas, so we had to try some of these too! We got a Baked Chicken, Chicken Curry, Beef, and Ropa Vieja. Their Beef and Chicken are some of their most popular. The Beef Emapanda has spicy ground beef, onions, and potatoes, and their Chicken Empanada has shredded chicken, mild spicy creamy yellow chili sauce, onions, potatoes, and mozzarella cheese. The Chicken Curry is one of their newer empanadas and has diced chicken thighs cooked in mild spicy curry and coconut milk, steamed rice, bell peppers, onions, and cilantro. But my favorite was the Ropa Vieja! It has tasty shredded beef, onions, bell peppers, tomato, garlic, seasonings, and cilantro. The meat is so tender and juicy! For desserts, we got a Cocada and a Peach and Dulce de Leche Turnover. The Cocada is their coconut macaroon made with shredded coconut, covered with chocolate. It is massive! Very moist on the inside. I'll be back to try their sandwiches and get some more OBRA balls!
