Food was ok, service needs training. We had a 530pm reservation, basically first seating. We were the third party in the covered patio area. After receiving our glasses of water it took about 10 mins for our server to get the drinks order and our server walked away before he could take our food order as well. Other parties started arriving. I tried to get our server's attention without success. I asked the hostess if we can place our food order and she said she's ask our server which she didn't do. I tried to get our servers attention only to watch him take 2 other table's orders. It took 40 mins to get our first dish which was the clam chowder my wife and I shared. Enjoyed every bit of dining here. I got the blackberry rumble drink (NA) and it was AMAZING, the pappardelle was perfectly cooked and the trumpet mushrooms were a great addition. Worst part was that we were too full to order any dessert but the staff was kind enough to get us a dessert to go. The view of the dock was so nice, getting to listen to the water and birds. 10/10 would recommend and would go again. read more

My friend and I came for lunch at noon when the restaurant opened. Nice young man (the owner?) seated us and took our order of clam chowder and fritto misto. After 10 minutes he came back and said the calamari was still frozen and would take a little longer to prepare. Ok. Half an hour later he came back and stated that the order of clams for the day had not arrived and would we accept mussels in the chowder instead . By then we were pretty hungry so ok. Bad decision. Food finally arrived after 45 minutes (there was only one other group in the restaurant.) Exactly five mussels in a gluey potato broth. The fritto misto was mostly batter and fried lemon slices (!). So disappointing. $5.00 was subtracted from our bill but sad to say we won't be back. Lovely setting with good reviews but unfortunately a very off day. read more

I had the worst experience with this restaurant yesterday. We had reservations at 1:45 for a a party of four to celebrate my daughter's graduation from UC Berkeley. Because of the busy crowds at the campus, and the nightmare traffic situation after the graduation, it took us close to two hours to get back to our car. My mobility is limited, which also slowed us down. However, we called the restaurant to tell them that we would be late, and kept them updated on our progress. My sister managed to get to the restaurant by 1:55. She told the hostess that her party was close behind, but would be there any moment. The hostess would not seat her until the rest of our party arrived. She told my sister, "You have two minutes." When we got there, the hostess told us that we were one minute too late. She would not seat us. My daughter, dressed in her graduation regalia, was crushed. Meanwhile, other graduates and their parents were walking into the restaurant, because their parties were already seated and waiting for them. How on earth was that fair? In my opinion, restaurant was very unprofessional. I've been to many restaurants, and I can't imagine any of them not accommodating us. We were tired, sunburned, thirsty and hungry. It was a colossal disappointment, but I'm glad I didn't give them a dime of my money. read more

We found this gem by accident when we arrived in Berkeley Marina for some boat work. We love low key restaurants with unique ambiance and amazing food and service - and Marina Seafood Dockside ticks every box. We had phenomenal service from Jill at dinner last night (the smoked sturgeon with everything crackers was an excellent recommendation!), and equally exceptional service from Michael at lunch today (the bread pudding is everything you promised and more). There are not many restaurants I can think of where I'm happy to go for dinner one night, lunch the next day, and am already booking dinner reservations for tonight - but Marina Seafood Dockside tops the short list. Besides amazing food, friendly service, and beachside vibes, you get excellent views overlooking the marina. 10/10 would and do recommend. The inside heaters mean that you're still cozy even when the breeze picks up. read more

The outdoor seating was very comfortable even though it was winter time when I went. I felt really cozy and the staff are all great! I have gone twice in one weekend because the food was absolutely delicious and fresh. The pasta is hand made and the seafood is spot on. The only thing they are missing is an espresso machine! Went here for dinner. I ordered the Fish & Chips, my wife the Shrimp & Grits. While the fish was a nice-sized portion, the shrimp was seriously inadequate. The fish was ok, but not impressive in taste. The shrimp was way too spicy. Price-wise, the entrees at just under $30, I felt, were pushing the "whatever the market will bear." Nice spot with a view of the marina. Food is good. Had oysters, mussels, fries and the chef's special fish. Will try the pasta with seafood and Calabrian chile next time. Also had a nice glass of rose and my wife had a house cocktail. The cocktail was good. Our server was great. The chef came out to say hi and ask about the meal. My only complaint is the expense. But I get it. Inflation has hit restaurants hard. And it is in the Marina and I'm sure Berkeley charges an arm and a leg for the space. It's great to have a casual spot in the Marina. We're so glad we stumbled upon this hidden gem while visiting the Berkeley Marina!!! We had just finished swimming and were enjoying our coffee (another GREAT spot across the way). We were browsing around on Yelp to find a nearby lunch spot and saw that Marina Seafood was literally a walk across the street and it had really good reviews. First of all, the staff were super nice, approachable, and accommodating (we asked to move tables so we could be near a heater and they graciously accommodated us). The ambiance was wonderful- open, fresh air, quaint. We sat in the covered outdoor area. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! My friend and I couldn't decide what to order because everything sounded amazing. We decided to share several appetizers- oysters, fritto misto, tempura shishito peppers, and the wings (yes, we were hungry). EPIC! It was all delicious! Michael (wonderful server!) even brought us a small bowl with hot water and a lemon slice and an extra cloth napkin to clean our hands after the wings. We felt so pampered! It was truly an epic lunch experience that we were not expecting. We will for sure be back! We travel to Berkeley to swim a couple of times per month and we're already talking about what we're having next time! Can't wait!!!! read more

Such a great new hidden gem at the Berkeley Marina! And an even bigger plus--it's kid-friendly! We ordered fresh oysters (Miyagi), Mango Salsa Ceviche, Fish & Chips, and the Crab Sandwich and everything was AMAZING! From the kids menu, my picky daughter (4yo) ordered the grilled cheese and surprisingly enjoyed every bit of it! My husband and I couldn't settle on what to order for our entrees, so we decided to share the Fish & Chips and split the Crab Sandwich. I gotta say, it was incredibly difficult to share, because neither of us wanted to give up half of what we ordered--they were just too tasty! We licked the plate clean of the Ceviche, which was so perfectly balanced with the Mango Salsa and onion. The fried fish was perfectly golden and crispy with fresh, meaty halibut inside that was so drool-worthy. And the crab in the sandwich was perfection! The waitress said it was sold directly to them on the marina, and I believe it because it tasted so fresh. On top of all of that, the service was top-notch! The servers were so attentive and polite. My family and I already can't wait to return, and hopefully we'll get to see the famous seal that visits the dock next time! :) read more

The servers were nice, I don't think the cooks have it together. Worst tartar sauce ever, it was more like salad dressing.The risotto was terrible, they said it came with crab, yes but an uncracked piece of crab sat on the top.The risotto had a terrible taste.We couldn't sit in the main restaurant as it wasn't opened that day.I was planning on going back with a friend but after the first dining experience I changed my mind.The lady that served us was very nice.Its just not that hard to make good food, but I wish them tge best of luck. read more

The menu is really interesting, and the food was wonderful, as was the service. Our party was delighted with this new restaurant and will certainly be back. It was a little hard to find since it's just behind a large building, but after driving past it we figured out where it must be. We had a reservation on Valentines Day for 8 pm. I was sent reminders by the restaurant to arrive early and if I arrived later than 15 minutes past my reservation time, it would be canceled. We arrived at 7:55 pm, 5 minutes early. We were told that we would have to wait as there were no tables. We were directed to wait at the bar which was in a different building across a small courtyard. We complied. At 8:30 the host came into the bar area to retrieve guests who had been waiting before us. She did not say a word to us and avoided eye contact after we had waited for 35 minutes. We were sitting at the bar for about 15 minutes and the bartender who was working directly in front of us never asked us if we wished to order. We finally asked him to take our order. The host upon arriving to retrieve the other guests said nothing to us so was not even able to apologize for the wait nor offer to comp our drinks!! We left after 40 minutes. Five minutes later I received a call from the restaurant saying that our table was ready, no apology for the wait (after the dire warning to be on time!!). They subsequently reported me to Open Table reservations as a no show!!! I assumed that given the occasion they were overbooked with no contingency plan. I assume the owners of this establishment are amateurs new to the food game because they did not even apologize nor offer concessions. In a crowded food market in a foodie's part of the world, post pandemic, they are in a tough position and should treat customers with more regard than they did. Perhaps their host is inexperienced, but it is the manager's duty to assure that customers are treated with regard and respect. Epic fail here. Not ready for prime time. Should go back to the drawing board! read more
