Pacific Fish Grill is a must try at the Public Market. Their fish and chips are fresh, crispy, and hot. They somehow managed to have the batter perfect while not too oily. I've had amazing experiences with their staff as well. Amir was extremely helpful and attentive. He made sure I had all the condiments needed. Ask for a side of malt vinegar and you'll get the full experience. It's

Awesome new spot in the Emeryville Public Market - highly recommend!! I had the fried goat cheese beet salad, chicken skewers, and beef skewers - they were all incredible! My wife had the salmon burger and was raving about it. Definitely check out this new spot!

Get the large clam chowder. It's so good! The batter on the fish was also delicious. I'll be back for sure!

Food itself was pretty underwhelming. We had the brussel sprouts which were the best part of our meal- tangy and crispy. The calamari was yummy with the squid ink- perfectly cooked. The short rib was not to our liking- a bit too watery to be deep fried on the outside. The patatas bravas had a smoky taste we also did not enjoy. They also drenched it on the sauce so it was pretty unavoidable. Ambiance was cool! Def more casual than fancy!

When we arrived, we were told that our reservation was actually for seating at the bar. We explained that our booking showed **standard seating** and that we had reserved a table, not bar seating. Instead of acknowledging the discrepancy or trying to resolve it, the maître d' told us that the reservation was "open to interpretation" and that, to him, "standard seating" meant sitting at the bar. It was incredibly frustrating to be told that *we* were wrong about the reservation we had made and that the wording could simply be interpreted however they chose once we arrived. What made the experience particularly upsetting was the way we were treated. We came in excited to support this restaurant and enjoy a meal, but we left feeling as though we simply **weren't worthy of being given a table**, despite having made a reservation for one. There was no sense of hospitality, accountability, or genuine effort to make the situation right. Instead, we were made to feel as though expecting the seating we reserved was unreasonable. A reservation should mean something. If "standard seating" at La Marcha can mean bar seating rather than a standard table, that should be made explicitly clear when guests book--not reinterpreted at the door. We were really looking forward to dining here, which makes the experience even more disappointing. We ultimately felt unwelcome and as though we somehow weren't "good enough" to receive the table we had reserved. No guest should leave a restaurant feeling that way.

It gets really busy as this location is near the college. It wasn't busy when we first arrived. Was seated right away. Ordered a bottled beer as they don't have any on tap. As far as the food, we asked if the crawfish was fresh and they said it was frozen, so we opted out of ordering that. Went with the shrimp and crab combo instead. For the flavor, we went with the atomic sauce (which includes all of the flavors: original Cajun, lemon pepper, and garlic butter) and for the heat, we went with medium. We also ordered the Cajun fish special cause my friend wanted to try it. When the food came out, they don't bring anything to throw away the shells in which is something I'm not used to. I don't like to just throw it away on the table which is what the server recommended so we just threw it away on this tray the food came served to us on. The sauce was good. Not spicy at all but that was ok. Shrimp was cooked perfectly. Not too big a fan of the crab but my friend wanted that instead of the crawfish. (I would've gotten the clams instead but that's just my preference). The fish special was cooked perfectly. Big portion also. Came with a side of coleslaw and white rice. I would order that again. As far as the service, they didn't really check on us at all. Not even when it wasn't busy. Never asked us if we wanted water or anything. So not the best service. They were nice enough though. Place was clean. Bathrooms were clean. Music selection was great. Didn't get pictures of the food but I did attach the menu photos I took.

Service was attentive and helpful, the room is pretty from the outside and prettier from the inside. Very good salads, healthy, tasty, and the safron salmon with potatoes and vegetables was delicious. Hit all the notes, and left open the spaces too. Excellent cooking and serving. We both went for Creme Brulee and weren't sorry. Good wine selection, 1 glass each, and good decaf with dessert. There's a lot of competition on this end of College Ave, Marica are top-tier, on par with the now closed, and missed, "Oliveto". A place to take anyone for a very special meal.

The restaurant space is well-lit, has plenty of indoor seating and seems suitable for a date or casual get-together with friends. My partner would give the food a five-start rating for its simplicity, generally flavorful, with spicy sauces and THE BEST guacamole! He had the Korean spare ribs and mash potatoes. He found the ribs to be fall-off-the bone tender, with potatoes that were more whipped than mashed alongside a carrot puree. I, on the other hand, had the New York Steak and au gratin potatoes. Though I wanted to enjoy my entree, I found the New York Steak to be unfortunately chewy and with too much fat. The au gratin potatoes could have had more crispy layers but tasted mediocre. Though I'd only rate this first experience with three stars. the service staff DID win us over and could potentially be the reason I'd be open to giving it another try.
