    Lunch menu

This wonderful little place is a step back in nostalgia when small breakfast/lunch counter restaurants existed in towns across America. Located in the heart of Grass Valley it is nestled among other restaurants, pubs and retail spaces. You could walk right by and miss it but the windows are big and people seemed to be coming in and out constantly. Peering in a folks sitting and eating by the window the food looked good! We decided to try it for lunch and glad we did. It was really good. The service was friendly and top notch, the place super clean, and either counter or table seating. We slid into a table for two. The menu is typical for a cafe/diner with a few standouts, for either breakfast or lunch. We ordered hot coffee since it was so chilly out. The mugs were refilled often, which was nice. We both decided on sandwiches, although they do have an array of burgers, salads, soups, etc. I got the Andouille sausage sandwich that came on a Hoggie type bun and Ed had the chicken pesto on a burger bun. For the side we both upped the price for garlic fries for me and sweet potato fries for him. My sandwich was delicious with lots of meat and melted cheese. It was a bit messy and greasy to eat, but that's part of parcel of this type of meat sandwich. It was quite filling and the fries were tasty, and came with a Ranch dipping sauce. Ed seemed content wirh his choice as well. They don't seem to carry or push any desserts, which is fine with us as we rarely get it. This is a great little place and I would definitely go back.

Delightful.the eggs were cooked to a runny perfection and the sauce elevated the rancheros. Everything was fresh, even the OJ. Pancakes were a little undercooked and could have been fluffier. Who doesn't love downtown grass valley! A lovely outdoor seating area on the walkable street, love to people-watch there.

Pepe's Coffee Shop was the perfect stop while walking downtown in the rain. It has a classic diner vibe. It was warm, relaxed, and welcoming, which felt especially nice after being out in the weather. I had the cheesesteak, which was filling and comforting, and the French fries tasted fresh and crispy. My partner ordered a bacon burger that was cooked exactly how he asked for it. Our son got a grilled cheese, and it was simple and perfect, definitely kid-approved. Everything came out hot and well prepared. We were seated by the window, and it was actually really nice to sit and watch people walking by outside while staying dry and comfortable inside. The waitress and servers were genuinely kind and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. It's the kind of place you stop into by chance and end up really enjoying. We'd definitely come back next time we're downtown.

The food is consistently high quality fresh, flavorful, and made with care. What really stands out is the customer service. You're not just treated like a guest, you're treated like family. Even if I didn't know them personally, I'd still be recommending this place! Highly recommend giving them a try!

This is a classic breakfast and lunch cafe with some nice extras. The menu included the standard breakfast and lunch fare with the addition of Huevos Rancheros, Baskets, and Frittatas. We selected the Bacon & Cheddar and Pit Ham Frittatas. They were delicious. The service was attentive and friendly. The coffee came from Caroline's, a local Grass Valley coffee roaster, and it was excellent. We'll be back to try some of the other extras.

BBQ Bacon Basket. Those two disks of sourdough on top are the most perfect toast you will ever experience.

Friendly little diner serves modern versions of traditional diner fare. If you're ordering breakfast, check out the section of "baskets." These are "egg in a basket" dishes (egg fried in the middle of a piece of toast) with assorted toppings. My BBQ Bacon Basket had perfectly cooked bacon and was delightful and filling comfort food. The iced tea is made with real tea. Prices are very reasonable.

We were very hungry by the time we sat down due to the long, wait, but it was well worth it. However, that are hunger. I forgot to take very good food pictures. The kitchen and historic charm of the decor hides a quite spacious restaurant that is decorated with historic furnishings, and adorable crayon pictures colored by local children. The menu is varied and has something for everyone. I tried the potato pancakes, which are hashbrowns mixed with cheese and garlic and onions on top with pesto sauce and eggs, and I must say that they were a delightful surprise, crispy and savory and worth every bite. My friends ordered the tofu breakfast burrito at Cuevo rancheros along with the bacon and egg breakfast at all said they were. We chose to share a three person mimosa, which includes a bottle of champagne and juice of your choice to accompany, and it was just perfect for our group. Our survey Anna was very busy, but made sure to check on us after serving the food and made sure that the food was served our liking and responded to every request we had. I would definitely plan on waiting in line on the weekends. They have a self-service waiting list and they will call you - inside or outside- when your table is ready. We waited a full 45 minutes on a Sunday around 11:00 am. Worth the wait, though!

Often the waitress will come around to check if all is okay. The waitresses are very well dressed and groomed with personalities to match. 3. The restaurant is very clean with a touch of home environment. What are my favorite meals: Breakfast: Their "Waffle (plain or Belgian), eggs (cooked to your liking), bacon or sausage (patties or links) combo" is awesome. Lunch: They are known for their burgers, fry's and onion rings - the best. The same can be said for their Patty Melt and French Dip sandwiches. Awe heck, all the sandwiches are GREAT! They offer a couple of various flavors of soups daily, all very good, especially their Lobster Bisque when available! YOU KNOW A PLACE HAS TO BE GOOD BY CHECKING OUT THEIR PARKING LOT. They have nice to-go containers, but be careful because they do leak! Depending on the dish. The paper bag got a little grease on it, so beware of your seats (if Togo!) The organic corn cake was amazing in my dish. I really enjoyed that. Nice job! The dish I got was Arepa de la Casa, and it all went well together. If your party is ordering individually, don't order this alone, because it requires to be paired with another dish that has a protein. It's more of an accompaniment, not a meal. My partner got the Steelhead Trout. This dish is more of a meal. He did enjoy. He was convinced it was salmon. It did look like salmon and it kind of tasted like it too! Haha We decided to share the Chicken Adobo. The thigh chicken --by placing my fork to eat, fell right off and onto my fork. It looked moist! However, upon eating, it was extremely dry!!! Bone dry! Which was very surprising how moist it looked! The flavors were good otherwise, so a little disappointed. But the good news, that can be fixed! The rice underneath had a nice flavor too. If I recall, it was more of a wet rice. His brother got the Arepas Rellenas: Carne Desmechada. Also more of a meal. Now on this dish, the protein (brisket) was very present, but for $24 it should be! It was basically the same size as my dish for $14. We should have shared, but I don't care for brisket! Haha I think in this meal you would want to have more of the accompaniments to even it out. So I suggest to order the Arepa de la Casa to go with it. I love what they're doing. I love how the menu is limited, which can be good or bad. I think I want try it again with the perspective of blending some of the plates together and hopefully the chicken cook time improves. :) I wish this spot the best of luck!

They are are so professional and accommodating, plus attentive. They are the best. Even though it was early brunch I decided to try a Bloody Mary. It was disappointing. Tasting watered down it had absolutely no liquor punch at all, just a watery drink without much tomato juice. I'm always amazed to look over the 100+ omelet items on the menu but decided on a Cajun Benedict instead. It comes with long sliced sausage (Andouille?) between the eggs and muffin. Overall, it wasn't that spicy so I covered it with hot sauce, Cajun country Tabasco. The poached eggs and sauce were good, but that's where it ended. The muffins were way too small for the dish and got lost in the other stuff. I didn't find the sausage to be all that flavorful either, and definitely not spicy. I got it with hash browns which weren't anything special. Very ordinary. I may have hit an off day but I left feeling very underwhelmed. Fortunately the service and ambiance overshadowed the food by a mile. Perhaps next time I need to try an omelet!
