    Garlic Bread Basket

We came here on Sunday for lunch. There was little wait and we were seated relatively quickly. The waiters were super friendly and patient. The restaurant decor was cute with lots of Italy-esque imagery. I ordered the Garlic Bread Basket and Chicken Parmigiano Sub. The flavoring of the Garlic Bread Basket was a bit on the blander side but the bread was pretty good. The Chicken Parmigiano Sub was pretty flavorful and warm and the bread was crunchy and delicious and overall not bad. The prices were relatively inexpensive (especially the lunch special) given the portion sizes. I had a pretty good experience here but I would recommend trying other items on the menu.

Finally dined at a Mario's and we were pleasantly surprised. Our server was friendly and professional. I started with the best Long Island Iced Tea I've ever had. I would go back just for another one of those. We shared a nice, large Caesar salad which would have been enough for 4. He really enjoyed the Angel Hair Pomodoro Allolio-eAglio. I had the Eggplant Parmigiana, which was fine, but I've had better. The portions were huge, my husband's wine pour was healthy, and it's a nice, comfortable dining room. We went rather early, and as the place filled up we could tell many of their customers are regulars. This is a nice spot for a casual meal.

That's the Al Vodka, however they don't make it with heavy cream.

This location is part of a strip mall with plenty of parking out in the lot. There's a pretty massive patio and outside bar area with seating which wasn't utilize as it was majorly hot outside. They did have mister to believe. We of course sat inside. When we walked in, there was no one dining as the only other patron had just finished and walked out. That in-between lunch time. It was one of those things, do we stay or do we leave.... The waitress that was working that afternoon, Michelle was the sweetest. So welcoming and friendly which is alway a good sign. As it was our first time here, she gave us a thoughtful breakdown of everything. Good customer service if I do say so. Menu, if you want seafood, this is your place. They had specials that go on all day with a good list of about 8 or so items to choose from. Lunch specials were also offered and then you have the main menu. Alcohol was also on the list. There's also a big menu along the board if you were waiting in line to order. Everything is done at the counter and food will be brought out to you when ready. They also have a soda station for your helping and the condiments are set aside there too. Menu did have a good selections of items. But limited on their pastas, which probably a given as it's a seafood place. They only had linguine and clams. We went with an order of the 3 fish and chips from the all day menu. That came with thick cut seasoned fries which were delicious and Cole slaws. The all day specials come with two sides I believe. Also an order of the ceviche which was from the starter menu. Fish was quite tasty and lightly battered which was great. Tasty and flakey which the battered was great. Not overly covered where it basically defeated the purpose but this place was nice. Also tater sauce was also accompanied. The ceviche was decent and came with tortilla chips. Nice decent size cup with avocado chunks on top but it wasn't that juicy. Wasn't that much juice, maybe it was just scooped and drained when served. It was decent. Also an extra side of the fries which were great. Thick cut and seasoned. The service was great and our waitress Michelle working that afternoon was a major doll. The sweetest and friendliest and so welcoming. The restaurant is full service minus the ordering. You order at the counter but your food will be brought to your table. It did pick up during our meal but we also noticed that it was a major go to for takeout. Everything was fresh and didn't take long to come out. There's also the downtown location that we need to try out next.

The Sand Dabs and Sablefish was Fantastico. Prices are very reasonable -- especially for the quality. Looking forward to the Salmon and Halibut...and return visits when back in the area. Also want to try their Crab Cakes, Lobster and Sable Fish...and some catches of the day. It'd also like to express: Not all flash-frozen pre packaged fish is the same. But Haines has perfected their game. I eat fish more than any other source of protein. Sometimes I prefer the flash-frozen variety because it packs in the fish oil & flavor...and has a much longer shelf-life in the freezer. I will say and this is not a negative at all, but the mashed potatoes and gravy instantly reminded me of KFC, when you get those in the styrofoam containers with lids... that is what they tasted like, and that is not a bad thing. The only complaint would be is that our appetizers came out fast, but as we started to enjoy them, just a few minutes later the entrees came out. There was almost no place to put them, as we were still enjoying our apps. The server should have not fired the entrees so soon, or maybe he just put the entire order in at once? The entrance lead you down a hallway toward the hostess stand, with couches, a bar and a piano being played to the left. To the right , you enter the main dining room. The space felt open, elegant, and immediately welcoming. Talk about fine dining at its best. The hostess was able to quickly seat our party of six, and our server immediately brought over the menus and filled our water glasses. THE FOOD: We started with the oysters , and they did not disappoint. They were served with a shallot mignonette which was vinegary in all the right ways. They were so good, that we ended up ordering a second round. For dinner, we all ordered the steak with mushrooms and broccoli. The steak was perfectly cooked, and every bite was bursting with flavor. Even the mushrooms and broccoli stood out. Everything was seasoned beautifully without overpowering the actual flavors of the vegetables. Even the bread was so good. It was served with three different butters. And dessert? Also top notch. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful dinner with friends. THE SERVICE: The service really added to the experience. Our server was attentive and took great care of us. The GM, Ray, also stopped by our table, and we ended up chatting and joking with him a bit. We arrived early for our reservation, excited to grab a drink at the bar before dinner. Then we were told our table was already available... only to be seated at a dining table in the bar, off to the side, where apparently servers do not exist while staring at the back of the pianist and the barflies. The two bartenders were fantastic--especially Brian, who was working at warp speed--but they already had a packed bar to manage. Adding dining tables to their workload was clearly not realistic. Why were we seated there? Still a mystery. Reservation problems: I booked through the QR code advertised in The Gem for the August prix fixe dinners at La Quinta Resort's restaurants. When we arrived, we were told the prix fixe menu wasn't available that day. Sorry! So we ordered bread and oysters instead. About 15-20 minutes later, the manager came over and said they would honor the prix fixe after all. Great! Except... we'd already ordered appetizers. ‍ And wow, was it SLOW. We were seated at 5:30 and still didn't have our entrées at 7:00. Drinks regularly sat empty, and once the restaurant got busy around 6:30, water refills disappeared completely. Did I mention it was 110 degrees outside? The food? A mixed bag--but overall, wildly overpriced and underwhelming. * Oysters: Ice-cold and served with a good mignonette. Also pricey. * Bread: Fresh and warm, but the olive tapenade was aggressively salty. Again, overpriced. * Watermelon salad: The winner! Refreshing, flavorful, and the spicy nuts gave it a nice kick. Highly recommend. * Chicken cacciatore: Dry chicken, undercooked tomatoes, overcooked pasta. Never again. * Oscar filet: Delicious and well-prepared, but nothing memorable or special--especially for the price. Bottom line: We spent about $400 for a frustrating, painfully slow, mostly mediocre meal. There are too many great restaurants in the area to spend that kind of money on "meh." We won't be back.
