"How's it goin bawsss" I'm from Jersey where a NY style pizza point resides in every shopping plaza. I can't say the same for NC. However, this place feels just like it. Massive slices of pizza, accents, and even the same sitting booths. The food is great and always fresh every time I come in here. I just wanted to thank Mario's Pizza for a fantastic meal and customer service. The pizza is huge and great value. Actually, they are just a bit too big for the boxes. The ingredients are fresh, the sauce is good. Each piece really does require a two-handed operation to consume. I have also had the calzones and stomboli, both are incredibly good and filling. For a small town like Havelock to have such a great long standing family business remain successful and busy for well over 25 years is testament to the quality they provide to each person walking through their door. If this pizza shop was in New York City it probably wouldn't last long, but here in Havelock, NC the pizza will suffice. This comes from a born and bred New Yorker so I've had my fair share of "NY style pizza." First, the decor is just as it should be for a pizza shop, bare and with table and seating booths bolted into the ground.. Now onto the food.... my first reaction to the pizza was "hmmm.. I've had better back in NYC" but I had to give my self a kick and remind myself that I'm not in NYC. So then I took a second bite. Upon my next bite I found myself wishing the bottom crust had more crunch and less chew. The back end of the crust was the best part of this pizza, it was crunchy. The pizza had minimal sauce leaving you wanting just a little bit more. Some may think this is a plus but it wasn't greasy. Upon folding my pizza the clear slightly orange tinted grease that I expected to drip down the back end of the pizza was nowhere to be found. Overall, the pizza was exactly A-OK as the three stars I gave Mario's Pizza indicated. read more

My family loves this pizza. I haven't had a lot of pizza in New York, but I can't imagine it's much better. And i don't know how they get these New York dudes to make pizza in Havelock, NC, but i love the fact that they're there. Really nice and the accent is a great touch. So far, this pizza has been the best one I have had in New Bern/Havelock to date. It was pretty good. The crust is what sold me- thin, delicious, with that crunch. The topping were greasy, but that worked and was good. This is my favorite place anywhere for thin crust pizza.  I grew up in Havelock and loved Mario's pizza back when bicycles were my primary mode of transportation.  I have eaten pizza on both coasts, as far north as Canada and on the other side of the Pacific.  I live in California now, but still have family in Havelock.  My wife and kids love it too. Every time we visit, I make sure to stop at Mario's, usually twice if I'm there a week or more. read more

I love that this place is cheap and you can stop in a get pizza by the slice. The pizza is really thin, crispy, and has a great sweet and garlicy sauce. I tried slices with toppings and they just all fell off, so I save the 50 cents and just get cheese. For a quick bite I'd definitely recommend. read more

Very good handmade pizza! We walked in to see one of the guys behind the counter rolling out the dough and making it into the size pizza that had been ordered. Following Yelp reviews on the highway, we were led to Mario's for a quick dinner on our way to the beach. There's nothing posh about it, just tables and chairs and really good pizza. We had 2 adults and 2 kids and ordered the 22" with pepperoni. Huge pizza! Each slice was what i would expect as a "personal size" pizza. But so good! We managed to finish all but 1 piece and boxed that up for later. The pizza is a thin New York style, a little greasy, but not inappropriately so. Good pepperoni. read more

The most rude restaurant owner I have ever met. After ordering a salad with wine vinegar on the side I received a salad soaked on "Italian dressing (loooots of vegetable oil)" (I've being in Italy, there is not such a thing, it is always extra virgin oil and vinegar and salt on the side). After complaining, the owner show up and rudely refuses to exchange it since "he would be losing money" (what's the cost? $2?), obviously he has no clue on how to run a business, any other place would exchange a cheap salad immediately. I order another one to give him a chance to rectify but he charge also for the second salad... well obviously me and everybody in my party won't ever visit that place.... Hands down, a great copy of New York style pizzerias! They do accept credit card payments above $5. And the pizza slices were very, very large. Even bigger than a typical slice I would get in NJ/NY. And I grew up in NY! $2.30 per slice is an okay price, much better than the $3+ prices I find in Los Angeles. They include garlic powder, a condiment not really given, as well as the usual red pepper and Parmesan cheese. The sodas are pretty cheap, like $1 for a small cup. And they serve Pepsi! (Possibly because the area brags about the founding place of Pepsi-Cola). Solved dinner for just $6, two slices, one with mushroom, and a soda. You got to visit this place if you ever in the area and wanna try NY style pizza. And yes, they do have the NY attitude, but just ignore it. They mean no harm. read more

walk in there Tuesday about 2:00 pm ordered to slice of pizza and a Coors light. I receive the beer and went to sit down and there where no clean tables and only two customer. So I just sat at a dirty one and waited for my two slice that were $2.90 apiece. In the mean time the two workers were walking to there buddies on the phone about making bets on games and wake the other up. after about 15 minutes I got up and went to the counter and they said can I help you. I said yes I 'd like my food. then they asked what I order they had never started it and then I asked for my money back and left they don't deserve my money.
