Thin crust just the way I like it; delicious. I've tried every place in town and this is my favorite. Friendly people, plenty of parking.

First off, I did a call-in order (very 2000s, I know). I could tell the business was very busy, but I was so surprised that despite being surrounded by the "crazy" she was doing her best to suggest what she liked and then after speaking a bit, what I might like. She was very helpful and considerate despite me calling during the "lunch rush". I came into the business --- small but efficient space --- and it was a quick transaction. My kind of place. As I was eating for 1, I didn't want to be a true "big-back", new year, new resolutions. I just got a 10' Neo Margherita Pizza + Parmesan Peppercorn Bone-In Wings. So the thing that makes Grumpy's stand-out and different from the competition? Boy oh boy, that crust. It is sourdough, it is crisp, it is light, it is so complimentary to anything that goes on it. I truly understand the hype about their pizzas --- and I truly can't wait to try more from their establishment. On to the wings; I ordered the Parmesan Peppercorn Bone-In Wings, simply because it's a flavor I don't see too regularly on the menus. It was exquisite; I could only imagine how much better it would've tasted fresh from the fryer. I had a 15 minutes drive until I had eaten the food. So the food-fluencers are not lying about this place. Check 'em out --- an awesome business ran by awesome people.

They call the Grandma MVP pie, MVP for a reason -- the marinara, vodka, and pesto, all homemade, was layered to perfection. The crust has a crispy edge and soft center and is baked so nicely. Think you've had fried ravioli before? Lucca's is fried, golden goodness with a creamy center that will have you begging for more. I loved their vodka rigatoni. Lucca's is made with homemade sauce that's rich, creamy, and unforgettable. You need to try their new panuozzo sandwiches. This is not your average sandwich. Made with their own crisp pizza dough, this comes fully loaded with fresh ingredients, stuffed with Italian flavor. Super kind and attentive staff. Casual dining environment but clean and lots of seating for a pizzeria! Hidden kitchen. Unforgettable food. That's the Lucca way!

We ordered the Turvino's Special…read morepie, which was basically a supreme pie with mushrooms, pepperoni, sausage, peppers, and onions. It reminded me of a better version of Sbarro's. The pie was loaded with ingredients. I especially liked the crumbled sausage (as opposed to large random chunks) and the dollops of tomato sauce throughout the pie. It does have a thicker crust than your typical pizzeria but the crust was crunchy, while still remaining soft and airy. This may be the best pie I've eaten in a while, especially since the structure had the integrity to hold up all those toppings - it wasn't soggy at all, like a lot of pies with that many toppings tend to be. We did eat it at the pizzeria though, fresh out of the oven, so that probably helped. Prices are reasonable too. A regular slice is only $3. I'm just sad that we don't live closer. We just happened to be in the neighborhood running errands and we found Turvino's. If I'm ever in the area again, I'm definitely going to check out some of their other pies. Note - there's a 3% processing fee if you use a credit card.

THE FOOD ----------------…read more= Carnivori Pizza - Was OK. 16" was cut tavern style and more than enough for our family of 4. Lots of haphazardly spread pepperoni, sausage, meatballs and bacon toppings and the toppings DEFINITELY made it better. Not enough tomato sauce IMO and undercarriage and crust was a litttttle too "doughy" and thick for my taste. Lots of black ashiness from the oven on the bottom of the pizza too. + Anthony's Classic Italian Salad - The large was plentttttty of salad for our family. Made up of romaine, there were lots olives, tomatoes cut into 8ths and 1 whole egg cut into quarter slices. All of the dressing was on the bottom, so mix it well if you want to taste that Italian dressing! + Kids Spaghetti and Meatballs - Just enough to feed 2 toddlers. Sauce was tangy. Meatball was solid. = Menu consisted of plenty to choose from - starters, roasted wings, salad, pasta and quite a few specialty pizza pies. Pizza pies were a bit on the pricier side though, especially the specialty 16" at $27.99. THE SERVICE ------------------- + All of our food came out very blazingly fast after we ordered, so we didn't have to wait long to stuff our faces. = Waitress was cordial, but not overly friendly to us like she was to a neighboring table of, I guess, more chatty adults. THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------- + Located in the Fair Lawn Promenade directly off Route 4 in Fair Lawn, so very easy to find off of the highway. + Plenty of parking spaces at the strip mall. + Big bar towards the front of the restaurant with TVs scattered inside. = Restaurant is mid-size, but feels on the smaller side during peak dining times on weekends when it's jam-packed. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS ------------------------------------- = Was super busy at 6 PM on a Friday evening, but only waited about 5 minutes for a table. When we left at 7:30 PM, a few parties were waiting to be seated, so their wait might have been a bit longer.
