I came here today with a friend after checking out the Mint Museum. We arrived around 230pm and got seated at a large booth in the back. The design/decor is elevated and sophisticated with dark/stark lines. Our waitress could've been a little friendlier but warmed up towards the end. I just had a latte but it was served in fancy mug on a saucer and my friend got the chicken bowl and really enjoyed it. They had some Live music going on which was a pleasant bonus- mic was a little loud though, just an fyi! Parking in the garage is validated and street spots are free on Sundays @azfitfoodfun
The restaurant was beautiful. Our waitress was friendly. There was a jazz band. I enjoyed their drink special...$1 Bloody Mary's. They weren't spicy, but not bad. My lamb burger and fries were tasty. My friend enjoyed her Peruvian chicken bowl. We shared French toast. It was really good. It has apple compote and a vanilla butter. Yum! We went on a Sunday afternoon and had reservations. Keep in mind if there is a Panther game. Parking was a nightmare. Lovely place with great service. Great place for brunch and adventurous taste buds.
What a fabulous mid week treat for the eyes and pallet. This place is absolutely gorgeous. If I were a spy from a bond movie this would totally be where I ordered my fancy cocktail after sliding into one of the many plush bar stools as I await to rendezvous with my nemesis. The cocktails are a work of art. It would be ashamed to call the artist behind the bar a bartender. This is an expert mixologist at work ppl. My Fuego drink was mezcal mixed with watermelon and a slight smokiness that was so well blended I could have licked the glass. My friend had a beautiful lavender drink that came with instructions to take the first sip with the lavender included so the taste and smell are taken in together...whoa! Dining is tapas style with small and large plates. We did all small plateswe could try lots of stuff. Here's the spread; Mushroom toast (amazing) Pork Belly lettuce wraps Squash casserole Short ribs Corn fritters (my fav) Raspberry mousse dessert Everything was delicious and came out in the perfect waves. Service is exceptional! Our waitress was a burst of energy and gave great recco's. She gave us the perfect amount of attention and even helped us stage a photo shoot. Nathan and Alizar provided outstanding service. They were both attentive, courteous, professional and welcoming!we were checked in quickly since we had a reservation. The restaurant is on the Second floor above the museum. You can take the elevator or stairs. We went for brunch so the restaurant was bright and spacious! There is plenty and a variety of seating from the bar stools to couches. Love the huge windows! I ordered the feta salad with shrimp. It was good but wished it had some salad like baby greens or arugula. It had soooo many tomatoes that I thought it was a tomato salad. The shrimp on the tomatoes were delicious! We also shared the French toast, that was delicious! The potatoes/ homefries were spicy and flavorful. Also had the corn fritters, they were a bit bland. The five dollar mimosas were perfect to make it an official brunch. They were refreshing and brought extra joy to our celebration! I would return and try other items on menu! Once again great service provided by Nathan and Alizar!
From the moment I walked in, I knew this was going to be a great brunch experience. I came here for a double-date Sunday Jazz Brunch, and everything from the drinks to the atmosphere made the visit feel special. Starting with the drinks, you really can't beat $5 mimosas and $1 Bloody Mary's. Naturally, I tried both and they were excellent choices. I also ordered a pumpkin martini and it was absolutely amazing! Smooth, seasonal, and honestly one of the highlights... plus the bartender hand delivered it ("with love", his words not mine...). Every dish we ordered was delicious and clearly made with care. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in what they serve because everything tasted thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor! The staff were genuinely kind and joyful, which made me feel welcomed and appreciated the entire time. The live jazz music created such a warm vibe and paired perfectly with the beautiful aesthetic of the space. It's the kind of brunch that makes you feel a little fancy in the best way. Overall, this place delivered on food, drinks, service, and ambiance. I can't wait to come back again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a standout Saturday or Sunday brunch (the Jazz brunch is both days).
This restaurant is beautiful and very clean. There is indoor and outdoor seating as well. We went for a business lunch and we were seated right away. Our service was excellent. Our table ordered a variety of things, everything was good! I got the lamb burger with a side salad, others got the chicken bowl and the salad with shrimp on it. My favorite part was the chocolate cake and delicious cappuccino.
Had dinner at Mariposa a couple weeks and had several Tapas dishes and all were very good with the steak nigiri and ahi tacos being top of my list. Service was very good delivery of food and drinks went very smoothly. The ambience is nice open kitchen area and nice open comfortable seating. I can see where it might get a little in the loud side but was not too bad the night we were there. Parking can be a challenge but there garage parking near by.
WORST SERVICE EVER! We were seated right at the entrance. It did take a couple minutes longer to get greeted by our server but we actually didn't bother much because we took some time settling out kids. However, we ordered our drinks and appetizers literally within minutes. It took considerably longer to get the maze platter (mind you nothing needed to be cooked in that - so wait that long should have been our first red flag). Almost after 30-min of getting mezze platter we reminded server for our second appetizer and it was clear she forgot. She had zero courtesy to even accept that! Disgraceful!! Finally we get our second appetizer and guess what??! Our server never returns. We waited and waited to be able to order entrees. We gave up after an hour plus long of wait. And I had to literally go to her while she was entering someone else order at the monitor to ask for our check. It took another 5-long minutes to get the check... and another many minutes to actually take that card to pay. Awful! My husband and I work uptown and wanted to check this place out for a potential dinner/entertainment place for our clients - but they have lost 2-customers forever. (I wish my pictures showed the timestamp to show how long it took to get each dish since getting drinks)
We had a great belated birthday dinner at Mariposa before seeing a concert at The Knight Theater across the street! The staff are warm and friendly, and the space is beautiful - tucked right inside the Mint Museum uptown with plush chairs and luxurious design touches. We decided to share the Asado Experience with a side of the Grecian Potatoes - both were excellent (only constructive comment was that the potatoes could have used a bit more salt, and maybe serving the tzatziki on the side would have helped them be a bit less soggy). I especially enjoyed the Malbec reduction on the Waygu beef (which was cooked to a near perfect medium rare and came with delicious roasted vegetables). Our server also brought us a slice of chocolate tres leches cake with a candle, which was absolutely divine - somehow rich and light at the same time. Would definitely love to go back to try the lamb tangine, the duck arepas, the seafood paella and the corn fritters - all sounded amazing!
Mariposa!!! I love saying that word...anywho...I really like this place. This has been one of my go-tos for drinks for the last couple of years, I had dinner for the first time about 2 months ago and now lunch. I always love the food and the decor. I love the clean restrooms, but I wish men had their own...for my own personal reasons. lol! This place is a vibe...you can go here before or after a date at the Mint, or it's a cool after work spot. Either way, it's worth the time and money. Sidenote: There is a credit card surcharge so be mindful before you go...and gratuity was included automatically (20%). I had no issues with either but it's good to know just in case you do.

Mariposa recently added brunch on the weekends to their offerings. So, my husband and I went to check it out. I made a reservation for when they opened. It was their second weekend having brunch and it didn't start to get busy until about an hour after their opening. Even then, not super busy. The staff was friendly to us but seemed to have had some tension between themselves. I assumed it was due to still being new with their brunch offerings and their working with each other. Like I said, they were friendly to us, as the customers, but some definite tensions and passive aggressive comments to each other. The interior is nice, the space is open, and the art/paintings/murals go well with it being next to The Mint. I like the look of the couch style seating but if I'm being honest, not a fan in execution. If you're the one sitting in the comfy couch style seating, you sink a little, which makes the person in the chairs higher than you. It feels a bit weird when having a conversation. Also, if you're short like me it's not as comfortable to sit and eat because I can't sit all the way back in the couch style seating. As for the food: - Street corn fritters - Delicious. It was a good balance of sweetness from the corn, seasoned well, and savory batter. - Pork belly bowl - The pork belly was cooked well and the sauce was delicious. Kimchi was good and the egg was cooked perfectly! Loved the addition of the togarashi. However, the rice was poorly executed. It was mushy as if they didn't allow enough of the liquid to cook off. - Fried chicken biscuit - Chicken was fried crispy but still moist inside. The biscuit was flakey and delicious. I enjoyed the gravy, but honestly it doesn't stand out to me as I think back to it. Overall, the experience was good. Delicious food and good service. They don't validate parking, so don't be surprised by that. I forgot to mention at the beginning that we had to have the staff replace my set of small plate as it was chipped in multiple places and had food remnants. Please be sure to check your setting to make sure they're cleaned before use. read more

Where do I start?!.......Oh, what an amazing experience! Been wanting to try this new restaurant since it first opened, but I'm so glad I decided to reserve for New Year's Eve/My birthday dinner, BC they did not disappoint!! Right in the heart of uptown, it was an easy walk/Lyft ride from our apartment. On this night in particular, They were offering 3 courses, including an amuse course and complimentary champagne. All for $125 per person, Not a bad deal at all considering the caliber of food, ambiance and service they provided, especially on a holiday like New Year's Eve. As we walked in, I couldn't help but notice how beautiful the interior was. From the furniture to the silverware, everything was impeccable! Not to mention the service was A++! Our server, Dane, was knowledgeable, attentive and it was such a joy to be served by him. Now for the food,..... Amuse course: Tuna Crudo with focaccia bread Very fresh tuna, one of the most amazing bites I've had! I wish I could've ordered more. The bread was soft, but with a buttery crust. It came with a yummy tapenade that was to die for! First course: we chose the 100 gardens salad Light, tasty and fresh. The lemon and shallot vinaigrette was so good I wish they bottled it. Second course/main course: Piri piri chicken So tender and nicely cooked. The seasonings were similar to a nice adobo seasoning with a kick. The lime crema tied the dish together which went nicely with Carolina gold rice. Third course/dessert: crème brûlée/burnt basque cheesecake This dessert was so good! Reminded me of a Japanese cheesecake I used to get when I lived in LA. Soft, almost like a butter cake, but not pasty like cream cheese. It's honestly amazing, you just gotta try it! All and all, I had a wonderful experience here for my birthday/New Years Eve! I highly recommend to visit if you haven't! I would definitely be back to experience their regular menu and Check out the museum well. read more

We stopped in to Mariposa for brunch after church on a Sunday to try it out and it went okay. There's parking available across the street at the green and I think underneath the restaurant as well. We had a reservation for five but there was plenty of open tables as well as bar seating at the restaurant. Overall, the place had a nice vibe and was nicely decorated. We started out with some tea and a few of us ordered hibiscus mimosas. We tried the corn fritters as an appetizer and they were very yummy. My main critiques are that the service was kind of slow and music was pretty loud so it was hard to hear each other. For my main dish I ordered the mayan avocado bowl, it was a good size with two poached eggs, but it got cold very quickly and the toast was chewy. Someone else ordered the shakshouka which was probably the best dish at the table besides the French toast. The shakshouka stayed warm and had a great flavor going. Not sure I would return for brunch anytime soon, but glad to try it out. read more

New restaurant Alert‼ Mariposa officially opened today . Mariposa which means butterfly in Spanish gives off a very modern vibe . They offer small & large shareables , paired with beautiful lush cocktails . They are located inside of the mint museum downtown . Here they offer a quite extensive & impressive menu . The menu is broken down from small to large shareable categories along with the sides & desserts categorized. Here's a list of the items we chose from the Small shareables . Salmon Rillettes , Wood hearth chicken , Lamb bulgogi lettuce wraps, Elite corn fritters . From the large shareables we chose Piri Piri Chicken , Chipotle crusted short ribs,& Gullah paella . For the sides we went with the Tandori spiced cauliflower , Squash casserole , Crispy Grecian roasted potatoes . Last but not least the desserts we chose were the Burnt Basque cheesecake & Coconut Semifreddo. My absolute favorite dish of the evening was the chipotle crusted short ribs they literally took my breathe away ! If you're looking for a new trendy & modern restaurant definitely check these guys out and the staff is super knowledgeable. read more

I made brunch reservations for Mariposa after our Mint Museum visit (same building). We were promptly greeted and seated and our waiter was awesome. He provided great menu recommendations and even tips for sightseeing in Charlotte. Mariposa has a sleek and sexy ambiance with modern chandeliers and an aesthetic of golds and grays. The menu is especially unique with a variety of tapas dishes originating from cuisines around the world. We decided to order the tuna crudo, lamb burger, and corn fritters to share. The food was creatively plated and not too large of a portion. Mariposa is an ideal spot for nibbles and bites but don't expect to leave feeling full. My sister had the hibiscus mimosa and the taste resembled a sparkling fruit juice with edible flower. Overall, a nice dining experience. read more

This restaurant replaced Halcyon above the Mint Museum. My first impression when I walked in was how beautiful the interior was. The couch at each table was very inviting. We went here after work for drinks and ended up ordering a few small plates. My favorite was the Tandoori Cauliflowers. The service from our waiter was over the top. It was very pricey for an after work happy hour but I would love to return here on date night. read more

My group of five ladies loved everything we had, and the service was great! We had Tuna crudo, Street corn fritters, Pulled duck arepas, Tandoori spiced cauliflower, Squash casserole, Roasted vegetables, Grecian potatoes, Olive focaccia; shrimp, lamb, and chicken kabobs. We had twelve (two of the tuna) dishes between us and it was perfect. So plan for about 2/pp depending on if you're getting small or large shareables. My personal favorites were the Tuna crudo, Squash casserole, Grecian potatoes, and the Olive focaccia. As a group, the Tuna crudo was our stand-out dish. Our one negative: We all agreed that the lamb kabobs were delicious but so tiny it made us think they must have started to run out and were stretching it. We also agreed that one dish that included all three types of kabobs would have been nice instead of ordering one stick at a time. The cocktails were perfect and strong. We had the Viracocha and the Bride D'Hiver. Our server also recommended a spectacular champagne (technically a Champenoise from California), Paula Kornell. We all snapped a photo of it. Excellent choice. We all are looking forward to returning with our husbands for date nights! read more

This was our first time dining at Mariposa. We left pleased to have found another favorite CLT restaurant. We came here with another couple, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Colleen was our server and she did a great job with recommendations and helpful in answering all of our questions. Drinks we had the Fuego del Corozan and Beso del dragon. I'm rarely pleased with mixed drinks. Both were fresh, not sugary, and just fantastic! Our table shared the following: tuna crudo, pork belly lettuce wraps, corn fritters, Salmon, Shirt rib, potatoes, and the squash casserole. All were delicious though I could pass on the squash casserole. Everything else, the flavor, presentation, and quality were 5 stars. We finished off with Espresso martini, Chocolate martini, cheesecake, and the French trifle. While I didn't try the desserts, everyone else at our table felt the cheesecake was dry but the trifle was excellent. We will be back! Genuinley enjoyed having dinner here. We had the bulgogi wraps, tuna carpaccio, short ribs, focaccia with olives, and squash casserole, I don't have a bad thing to say about anything we ate. The service was also delightful, and the atmosphere tickled our eyes. The only reason for 4 stars is the limited cocktail list and their general lack of balance. First and foremost the aesthetic of this place is beautiful. Loved how cozy it was while it also giving a very grown and sexy feel. I visited Mariposa for a birthday brunch and immediately feel in love with the look. The drinks were beautiful as well. This was my first time here. I took a chance because I brought my wife for her birthday dinner, and I was apprehensive about trying out a new restaurant instead of going with the safe bets (Dressler's or Del Frisco's). I checked out the reviews and they averaged 4.6/5, so I gave it a shot. Angela (my wife) and I both really enjoyed it. Our server was very nice, the view of Charlotte was great, and the food was fantastic. Our server recommended the squash casserole as one of my side dishes. That casserole was so good I gave her an extra tip. This restaurant is definitely on our updated list of places to eat in Charlotte. read more

Cute venue, but it's small. This matters solely because they have staff moving through this place like crazy & the walkable spaces are very narrow. This is not the kind of place that could cater a party of 8 comfortably or at all. I can appreciate the dedication to cuisine, the menu isn't quite cohesive but the selections, while minimal, jump out at you. The short ribs caught my eye instantaneously. "Chipotle Crusted Short Ribs creamy aji sweet potatoes, chimichurri" - sounds delish right? Tonight might not have been their night, for me, this was a miss & solely because it lacked flavor. You can absolutely tell they slow cooked this to perfection on top of being plated so beautifully it really was a gut punch to be disappointed in the taste. The Piri Piri however is fantastic as f*ck & I'm severely underselling it even with the expletive. One bite & you're hooked. Whoever was in the kitchen on Piri Piri duty deserves a raise because this blew my mind so much that I sent the short ribs back for a to go order. Two out of three appetizers were really good, the chicken kabob was rather forgettable, but the crispy Grecian roasted potatoes & tandoori spiced cauliflower met my expectations for taste. Overall, this is a great spot for date night. As far as experience goes you should definitely enjoy, I recommend eating early in the evening & then taking a tour of the mint after, service is great but can be slow because items are brought out as they are prepared not in any particular order. Ambience: average. Avoid couches they are so low, that you will struggle to sit up to eat or converse with one another. The music is so loud that you gotta shout to talk to each other. I do not get why the music has to be so loud. Food: lamb kebabs is something really enjoyed. Other than that be it mezze platter , tajine were way average. Hummus was so little and without any olive dressing not the way it shud be. The bread was as if been taken out of microwave, soggy on one side and dry inside. Not the way it should be. Cocktails: they were really good and quite strong so thats plus. Only thing is they lacked any innovation. But they did good job. So plus points for that. If you looking for some fine dine ...this is not a "fine dine". More of casual dine with too loud music, good presentation on food but average flavours. We came here on a whim after dinner while we still had some time before our show at the theater across the street. We made our way in around 6 without a reservation and they graciously sat us at the bar for drinks and a dessert. When we got there, the place wasn't super packed but by the time we left around 7, I definitely would suggest a reservation... The atmosphere is wonderful here and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. We ordered a draft beer, a mock tail, their cheesecake, and unexpectedly also an order of corn fritters. The mocktail was good and was a modification off of their gin cocktail. I wouldn't necessarily get it again as it was very syrupy but maybe stick to their menu decided cocktails. The corn fritters were absolutely delicious and we would definitely get them again. They had a great flavor and the crema was so fresh! The cheesecake had a great topping but the cheesecake itself was quite dense and flavorless. I won't leave a desert behind and definitely finished it but it kind of was a bit disappointing. Overall, the experience had left us feeling like we may have just not had a right taste of the menu and would definitely go back to try it again (and get those corn fritters for sure). read more

Service was great from the bar staff. I had the chicken biscuit for breakfast and while the potatoes that came with it were delicious my chicken breast needed more flavor. I don't order anything fancy and didn't have any cocktails but I will return for dinner to see how those dishes compare. read more

Caught the tail end of Sunday's brunch at Mariposa and I was pleasantly surprised for my first time! I had the shrimp and grits and started with the corn fritters! Both were delicious! We were greeted when we walked in and our waitress was so nice and attentive! Service was great! The restaurant was inside the Mint Museum so the ambiance was excellent! Beautiful decor! The only negative is the space is extremely small; the couches sit very low and the chair sit high so for a table of 2 it was a little awkward but based on the food and service (and the great prices!) I will def return! read more

Visiting family in CLT and found this gem of a spot! My honey and I decided on here for dinner and it was absolutely amazing. Service was great from beginning to end. It definitely was an intimate setting with dim lighting so it's perfect for cocktails with your girls or date night. Would recommend! read more
I got the French toast with some potatoes and they were extremely delicious. The potatoes were season two perfection. My favorite part of the dish was the fact that I didn't eat any type of syrup with my French toast. The mascarpone was truly amazing. read more
First off, the ambiance is spectacular. Located in the Mint Museum, the floor-to-ceiling windows gives a wonderful view of the city. And the decor, quite the elevated dining experience! The Pork Belly Bulgogi Lettuce Wraps and Corn Fritters were the perfect way to start off the meal. The Chipotle-Crusted Short Ribs had some heat and fell right off the bone. The Salmon was served over a cucumber salad and mustard sauce. And the Mysterious Mushroom was too unique to pass up. It was filled with strawberry compote, raspberry cremeux, vanilla mouse, pistachio cake and matcha crumble at the base. The only thing I probably wouldn't get again is the Squash Casserole. What a great time we had last night! Mariposa occupies the beautiful spot that used to house Halcyon, and has big shoes to fill. They filled them beautifully. We didn't have reservations last night, and they offered us seating at the bar, but luckily the manager came over and sat us at a table in the vacant dining room. Well, that vacant dining room filled right up and phones were flashing all night: photoing the view, the food, and the interior. We began our night with a couple of fun cocktails. Next we shared a beautiful and delicious appetizer that we saw another table ordered. After our entree and a special side, we still found room to share a dessert, which we ordered 100% based upon the photo of it the waiter showed us. Breakdown *Cocktails* -Aix en Provence- Empress Gin. Cremant d'Alsace. Housemade Lavender Syrup. Fresh Lemon. Fresh, delicious and strong (for me!) -Regatta Colada- Appleton Rum. Coconut Rum. Lime. Housemade Mixed Nut Orgeat. Passion Fruit. It was so refreshing, not too strong, and pleasantly sweet. I'd get that again and again! *SMALL SHAREABLES* -Mariposa Mezze Board- Tzatziki, hummus with roasted garlic & mushrooms, garden vegetables, marinated olives, roasted eggplant, pepperonata, za'atar flatbread. Not only was this beautiful, it was utterly amazing. And not too heavy. Lots of fresh veggies to nosh on before the main course. I loved the roasted garlic and mushrooms the best! *LARGE SHAREABLES* -Gullah Paella- Crisped Carolina gold rice pilaf, andouille & chorizo, gulf shrimp, fresh daily catch, oysters, soffrito, saffron. Seafood was fresh and cooked perfectly. Such deep flavor in this popular dish! -Hearth Roasted Salmon- cucumber salad, Swedish mustard sauce: This one was precisely cooked, but a little plain for my taste. *SOCIAL SIDES* -Squash Casserole- House-made boursin, fresh herbs, roasted garlic, wood-smoked crouton. This was my absolute, without question favorite dish of the night. I could have ordered this and a small shareable and been as happy as a clam. The torn croutons are what dreams are made of. -100 Gardens Salad- Local lettuces, radish, pan-roasted croutons, lemon-shallot vinaigrette: the 100 Gardens effort teaches local high school students how to grow vegetables hydroponically. All of the greens are harvested from this program! *SWEET CONVERSATIONS* -Mysterious Mushroom- Strawberry compote, raspberry cremeux, raspberry gel, vanilla mousse, pistachio cake, matcha crumble: this was the show stopper of the night. Even more delicious than it was beautiful, and boy is that saying something. The vanilla mousse was like a cloud and the strawberry compote divine. Seriously good food, nestled in a chic uptown space. This is where you'll find all of the cool kids...and me! read more
This was my first time here and I loved everything about it. For easy access - Park in the Duke building and take the elevator up to avoid being outside. The inside is immaculate. Very detailed and chic. The style is shared plates. So just order a 2-3 small plates and one large plate. You will not be disappointed. This is perfect for date night or celebratory dinners. I'll definitely be back! We made a reservation for a future date before leaving. read more

This is my second time going and still a great vibe. The waiter Carlos was very nice and funny. The food was very good as usual but the small plates are small lol. Not quite shareable in my opinion but I also eat a lot lol. But all In all good food and good vibes. read more
So this was a special occasion on New Year's Eve having a birthday dinner. I won't go to far into detail but as you can see I'm the pictures this was a small plate menu. Our waiter Dane was amazing and very accommodating with great details and expression of the restaurant. The space was beautiful, the vibe was very formal and food phenomenally great tasting, 5 stars well deserved! Before I close this out, not sure if the cheese cake is on the regular menu but my god you should definitely try the cheesecake. Will be returning to this place again very soon. read more

Halcyon has been reborn into a new global cuisine concept and I've got to say...it's a must-try! They're still located in the Mint Museum uptown. They have small and large shareables, and "social" sides with flavors from around the world like Greece, Spain, etc. The space is gorgeous and the service is outstanding! Check out below to see the tasty things I ordered! Cocktail time: Aix en Provence with Empress Gin, Cremant d'Alsace, house-made lavender syrup, and fresh lemon juice. My waiter gave me the best advice to keep the lavender sprigs in the glass when I sipped, so that I smelled the lavender with each sip -- perfection! Small Shareable: Mezze Board | comes with amazing tzatziki (get another side of it if you want cuz it's awesome), Large Shareable: Gullah Paella Social Sides: *Charred Shishitos *Crispy Grecian Roasted Potatoes, which comes with the delicious tzatziki Dessert is by my talented friend and Pasty Chef Sam. At the time, I ordered the Manjari Torte (which is naturally gluten free) and it was INCREDIBLE!! If you like chocolate then I highly recommend ordering this to cap off the night. read more

Food is amazing just as it was at Halcyon. We had the chicken and lamb skewers (both had tender and delicious meat), Mezze board (one of the best value sharing dishes in all of Charlotte), Corn Fritters (soft and sweet with a citrus sauce that cuts through it so well - was such a good dish!), and lamb bulgogi lettuce wraps that were also delicious. Had the Madagascan chocolate cake for dessert which was gigantic and a very rich awesome way to finish the night - you can share this between 4 people Only reasons for 4 stars was we had the Raffles in Singapore cocktail and, while fine, the pineapple took it over and made it taste like a bay breeze - not what you expect alongside such great food, but the cocktails others had around us looked much better, so may have just been a bad choice. The biggest opportunity to make this one of the best dinner or date spots in Charlotte is the vibe. A TV is fine for a lunch or weeknight happy hour but on a Saturday night, college football at a nice dinner uptown doesn't set the mood (could also be darker and more intimate). Also, the 70s music doesn't fit the vibe. Highly recommend this spot as they figure out their personality/image - food is 10/10 and I'm sure the rest above will follow as the months ahead come! read more

What an amazing experience!! We went to Mariposa on Saturday, I'm in town until Thursday morning, so we rearranged everything to go again Wednesday night. This will be my new "must do" when I'm in Charlotte. First of all, the restaurant is dubbed "world to table" and it is truly an international experience. We started with drinks, I had champagne with strawberries and my friend had a cabernet. Our first food item was the tuna crudo. Each bite was better than the previous bite, with all of the flavors bursting. Then we had the pork belly lettuce wraps which were a complete party in our mouths. Next, we ordered a lamb kabob and the tzatziki sauce was out of this world and the kabob was phenomenal and bursting with moisture. Our entree was chipotle crusted beef shortrib with chimichuri sauce. No knife was needed. Service, great! Food, great! Ambiance? Soooooooo cool. It's in the Mint museum, replacing Halcyon. The decor is awesome. It is small and seats are tight. But so hip and cool with phenomenal food. read more

So I came back for brunch. Everything was great especially the hibiscus mimosa. You must make sure you eat the actual flower in the mimosa. My dear friend had the shakshuka and I had the French toast with the salmon rittles as our appetizer. Our service was great! read more

The atmosphere is somewhat reminiscent of the Art Deco era; but also of the 70s Mod era with their white fur chairs (which I'd love to own). I and a friend went for their Saturday morning jazz brunch. I had a non alcoholic "rum" drink that I would definitely order again as it was citrusy with a faint taste of "rum". Of course we saw another table order the Dulce de Leche Martini which looked so good that we each ordered one of those also. It had a strong expresso flavor which I loved but was covered in the Dulce de Leche that looked like mocha whipped cream. You could mix in as much or as little as you like to sweeten it to your liking. Our server was very knowledgeable and pleasantly attentive. The food was beautifully plated and skillfully prepared. We started with their crab and shrimp cakes which were filled with large chunks of shrimp and crab in a very thin later of breading over a wonderful aioli. The flavors while subtle were very complex and definitely scrumptious. Next I had the prawns and polenta. Not only was the polenta creamy and well seasoned, the prawns were juicy and cooked perfectly. There were pickled jalapeños and thin slivers of red onion along with some micro greens sprinkled throughout such that every spoonful had different notes of umami, sour, and sweet as well as different textures. Only thing I would say is that the polenta was a little looser than I'd prefer but the flavors more than made up for that. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I plan to go back next week to try their lunch and ultimately dinner. With such a gifted chef, I'm excited to try other items on the menu. read more

How large? There was a group of 8 women sitting at the table next to us. I don't know if there's enough room to accommodate a group larger than that.
