Went on a Sunday for brunch, wait time was around 30 minutes not bad for a busy day. Our server was amazing and made the first time experience great. She was attentive and great with her recommendations. The patio is beautiful and restrooms are nice. I will definitely come back with my family. Fish taco 8/10 the taco tasted great and the size is average. The only down side was the tortilla, it ripped up in pieces and I ate it with a fork. Super Campechana 9/10 pretty good more on the lemony side. read more

Mariscos Choix is one of my favorite spot because#1 - they have banda #2 - the food is delicious (try the tacos de pescado , the camarón cucaracha I think that how is call E.T.C) #3 Service is amazing - servers are always checking up on you , and if you need to order or request for something they will bring it to you in a moderate time ! #4 Micheladas are pretty big you all but they have the perfect amount of ingredients for you to enjoy a really really tasty michelada #5 GUYS - the decorations , makes you feel really comfortable with sofas and plants en el techo and last and finally #5 restrooms are fully CLEAN ! Laura was our server and I can say she deserved a raise checking on us every 15 mins making sure we are okay. Customer service is amazing!! Manager is also on the floor greeting guest and making sure you're welcomed!! For sure coming back the vibes here are amazing next time we sitting in the patio though! Came here with my girlfriend for a valentines date and just wow! Walking in the ambience itself is so nice! The staff were very friendly and advised us to take pictures by the pretty balloons. We first started with drinks and oysters and let me tell you! Those mango flights are dangerously delicious! Waiter offered us to get a buy one get one drink with cotton candy. Those were fun since we got to melt our cotton candy in the actual drink making it sweeter. Ugh mouth watery Once the food came out, I couldn't even take a photo since we dove right in! I got the shrimp cocktail and girlfriend got ceviche on tostada. Everything was delicious but our bill was pretty high for just us 2... but what do you expect it's seafood. Lol read more

My boyfriend and his family celebrated my birthday this past weekend at Mariscos Choix. It was my first time going there and I fell in love with the place. The food, service i, and ambiance were amazing. I'm obsessed with this place and can't wait to go back and try something new from the menu. My boyfriend and I ordered the botana de Cameron con pulpo, one fish taco which the sauce is sooo good we used it to eat it with tacos sinaluense and a mojara frita. We ordered a few drinks too which did not disappoint. You definitely need to check this place out if you want great seafood and love Mexican music. The parking will be next to the restaurant but don't park front area of del taco they will tow your car just park far down. read more

We decided to go back for a celebration last night. We had a reservation at 6pm for 9ppl. Amazing food and drinks as usual. Only issues we had was about the ac in the private room. It was too cold and when I asked one of the servers he said they couldn't do anything about it because the rest had to be at a certain temp. The women's bathroom in the big stall was dirty. I told the manager it didn't have anymore toilet paper... lastly, our server mentioned to us that the manager had asked her if we were about to leave. We were still eating and drinking. We were still consuming. Our bill was $800+. I asked her if we needed to leave and she said no, it was ok. Then why would you even mentioned it to us in the first place. No hospitality whatsoever. Never ask a costumer if they're about to leave, very rude! Especially because we had invited some very special guests. I know gratuity was included and tipped her extra... hopefully next time, they'll have a better understanding on how to treat people better. Don't judge by the book by its cover. I work in the same industry and made us all feel awkward.... read more

I have been coming here for years. I last came here on a Friday night. There was no wait, which was nice because the previous times there's always a wait. FYI there's the option to join the waitlist if you look them up on Google instead. There was a live grupo playing which is something known about this place. It's always been a place where you can go enjoy some live music and have some drinks. I have however noticed that they have different groups that play here, but I've noticed it's been a while that I've heard a grupo that was actually good and it's usually the vocalists. In their defense everything seems to have changed everywhere after the pandemic. I've tried their fresh tostadas and that's always been good as well as the tacos. But this time I ordered the empanas with shrimp and cheese and honestly there was nothing special about them, too much tortilla not enough filling. They taste less like empanadas and more like tortillas with shrimp and cheese. Lastly, the service has always been a bit slow. Even though the servers are very friendly, it seems their kitchen and bar may be understaffed because ordering a second drink means it may never come. Which is what happened Friday. I would still come back and perhaps stick with what I liked but the place is not what it used to be, but like I said most places aren't after the pandemic. read more

Been here before and the food is good quality. However, they advertise on their website that their Downey location does reservations on open table, they even have a special event seating prices for the World Cup. I called cause they were asking for a credit card on file for my party of 9 which I've never got asked that before on open table. When I called the lady on the phone said they don't do any reservations at all despite me bringing up their own website advertising. They said they don't honor reservations and you would have to enter a waitlist once you get there. Seems like something the owners need to be on top of! Especially when they are trying to do a $90 dollar card hold for a reservation they won't even honor when you get there! My party ended up going elsewhere. read more

At the end, we waited over 20 minutes just to be charged. We honestly could have walked out without paying and I don't think anyone would have noticed. We really enjoy the food and would love to come back, but the service definitely needs improvement. It's disappointing when you want to keep ordering and enjoying your time, but can't even get someone to check on your table.

I took them back to ready station person and told the young lady that the sweet potato fries were burnt, and could I have another order of the fries ( obviously not overcooked) . She was surprised. But agreed to tell the cook , to make another order of them . After 9 minutes No one said anything to me , so the new perfectly cooked fries would have sat there if I didn't get up and locate them . Also the drink I originally ordered could not be found on the drink machine which I mixed a tea with a little soda . Nevertheless , the grill salmon was nicely prepared , but the skimpy portion of rice and the kale-slaw were not enough for two us. I was feeling like I could have ordered a second dinner , as was my friend, as we drove 35 minutes to meet there from different locations. The young fellow who took our order was helpful in helping us use the touch screen. However , it was our first time at this restaurant chain , and we're both feeling hungry leaving the place .

I want to say that I am beyond impressed by all the staff at Mariscos Choix. From the moment you walk in you are welcomed with a smile. I came in with a party of 4 and was told there was a waitlist to which I didn't mind. A few minutes after my wife asks if we can get some drinks at the bar and they said yes and let me tell you the Nemo was my wife's favorite and Mine was the borracho the presentation and taste is top tier!!! When we finally got the text our table was ready to our surprise Cindy was attending us today and let me tell you she is very genuine. she asked about our engagement and it honestly made us feel like she really cared like if we've been knowing her for years . My brother in law ordered two fish tacos and she asked if we had any peanut allergies (he does) she let us know that the salsa they put on the side contains nuts. There was not 1 staff that didn't come to our table and ask if we needed anything so if you guys are looking for a place with good food,great service,great environment this is the place. We had such a great experience here, especially thanks to Joel! There was a pretty long wait when we arrived, but he immediately took care of us and made it feel worth it. He helped us get settled at the bar while we waited for a table and was super friendly and welcoming the whole time. We were able to order some drinks with him, and they were honestly so delicious. When a table finally became available, Joel personally walked us over and made sure we were comfortable. He let us know a server would be with us shortly to take our food order, which made everything feel smooth and organized. His positive attitude and great service really made the experience stand out. Came here on Wednesday the place was half full or half empty which was good because we had wanted to come on the weekend but there was always a long wait time. I guess everyone is dying to try the new hip sea food place in town with grupo norteno and a cool patio. Anyways I'm giving two stars one for the cool patio and the other for the cold beer, the food to be honest was very a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10 you could give your kid directions on how to make you a fish ceviche tosatdas and I'm sure he or she can whip you out a better tasting one. The tosatdas where both mostly filled with bland tasting cucumber aka pepino. SMH. We also had the bacon wrapped shrimp and honestly had better ones at a burger joint near my house. Anyway if you want to wait an hour plus for this type of food go ahead just don't kick yourself in the ass saying I didn't warn you. To start off she recommended some new items/dishes and her personal favorites from the menu and to say the least everything had us at a WOW!! To start we had Pata de Mula. When I heard pata de mula I was in a complete shock!! Pata de mula in Downey????? Not a lot of restaurant do but Mariscos choixs is definitely the best pata the mula in the whole county.. Next we had " Tacos de camarón baja y de Pescado baja" waitress personal favorite! So good that we had to get another round. Never a dull moment here. They upgraded the place and menu and every time I come here I have a great experience I went there with a few friends on a Saturday evening. Everything about this place is EXCELLENT! We got seated immediately after our whole party arrived and the service was great! The weather was warm so I was craving a Michelada and a Coctel de campechana(mixed seafood cocktail). Both of the items I ordered suited the occasion refreshingly, service was quick and staff is friendly and attentive, I did have a minor negative critique, I had a couple fries from my nieces left over dish and It was obvious they cook their fries in the same oil as they do their seafood, I personally didn't mind, but I know some folks that would definitely complain about it, so just a heads up folks. Enjoyed our first time at Mariscos Choix. All staff, especially Andre our server made our celebration for a group of 16 one to remember. We were seated in a timely manner for our reservation at 6:15. Drinks were ordered and enjoyed by all. Andre made sure to ask about food allergies which was great as some of their salsas have nuts in them. My son has nut allergies. The food was great we ordered a variety Baja Fish Tacos, Marlin Fish Tacos, De Pulpo, Tostada de Ceviche, Tostada Mixta, Molcajete, Beef Fajitas, Shrimp and chicken nuggets for the kids and everyone was satisfied with their meal. Ok so I been craving for a Botana choix that I saw a couple time on friends Snapchat. It looks super yummy avocado good presentation. So I went with hubb to take food to go. I order my Botana Choix. ERROR!! They give me 2 boxes, I open one it was only 3 slides of avocado and the other box was the Botana. Omg it was like one tostada serving. We paid almost $28dls which is ok for a Botana but serving was so poor. Flavor was delicious. have nothing to said about the kitchen really good. But never again I'll take botanas to go. Was very surprised with the wait time which was none. Came here around 1pm on a Saturday and my family and I were seated right away. Have to mention that the food here is very delicious compared to other similar restaurants around the area. Micheladas are buy 1 and second half off! We had a mojara a la diabla ( super delicious ) and chicken fajitas. Our waiter was Guadalupe and she was very sweet and genuinely attentive. Amid the pandemic, things have changed every where and everyone one is trying their best to make things work. I had such a wonderful experience at Mariscos Choix The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the food was absolutely delicious -- everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We celebrated my step dad's birthday and they made it extra special. A special shoutout to our waitress, Rosalinda (aka Rosy) who made the evening even better. She was attentive , friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu She made great recommendations and made us feel genuinely welcome. I highly recommend Mariscos Choix for anyone looking for great food and top-notch service. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

I was really hoping for a great experience at this place, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. The food was mostly mediocre. The Aguachile was alright, but nothing special. The "fresh guacamole made to order" looked more like an old spread -- definitely not what I was expecting. The Tacos Gobernador were fine, but it's disappointing that they charge extra for the chipotle sauce, which is usually included at other places. The chicken fajitas were also underwhelming, lacking the flavor and sizzle I was hoping for. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience, but I won't be rushing back. read more

There is only one older gentleman I've seen be rude to customers, but aside from that single exception, the service is excellent across the board. I judge Mexican restaurants heavily based on how they make a Cadillac margarita, and this place absolutely delivers. Everything that comes out of the kitchen is perfectly cooked, plentiful, and clearly made with care. For me, this restaurant is a solid five out of five. It's one of those spots that deserves far more credit than it gets. If you're looking for quality, authenticity, and great value, it's worth a visit.

Goat Birria plate is a must, and safe for the non-mexican pallet meaning not intense or gamey. The carne asada plate and Tampiqueña(skirt steak) is also a solid choice. Like I said always consistent during my visits. This newer location in downey is very nice. I usually bring my family from out of town for dinner. Very clean, aesthetic, and service usually always friendly.

Enchiladas de mole were okay, the mole could be better, it was a bit too thick, and shredded chicken was flavorless and dry. The horchata wasn't authentic at all. Service is good, they are attentive, and the place seems clean. Lots is seating, during the week at least. I'm giving them a 3 star because although food wasn't great, it also wasn't horrible, and for the price I was just expecting more flavor. Sadden to say, I won't be coming back.
