BEWARE OF THEIR MISLEADING MENU PRICING I came to this restaurant from Miami, Florida as a first time visitor based on a recommendation from a trusted source. However, my California family and I had a terrible experience at this place while watching the Mexico soccer game. We were specifically told that margaritas would be on happy hour until the game started at 6:00 PM. Based on that information, our group ordered several margaritas, expecting the happy hour to last until kickoff. The game didn't actually start until 7:00 PM, but when the bill came, we were shocked to find out we had been charged regular price because the bartender claimed the happy hour didn't exist and the drinks specials actually started when the game started which should've been at 6pm but fifa delayed the game until 7 pm. As a business owner I expected this restaurant to do the right thing and they did not honor the happy hour price or any special from 6-7pm for the delay of this game. Now mind you, the bartender himself handed us the happy hour menu and confirmed the price of the margaritas would go up from $5 to $9 at 6pm. That was completely different from what we were told when he brought the tab and it was an entire bait-and-switch. The margaritas were not even $9 because in what math do you equate $85 for 5 margaritas and $51 for 3?? Receipt has been provided time stamped 5:25pm on a Tuesday along with their happy house $4 off Margarita discounted menu. There was no premium liquor or any extras to these drinks. The restaurant is very shady for that and if they are not going to honor happy hour prices at all they need to advise customer of this. Needless to say, nowhere in their menu do they mention a soccer game special on drinks or whatever "social hour" means on this receipt. I did try to resolve this at the restaurant and your bartender stated that the happy hour didn't exist contradicting what he had said earlier and this man didn't even know how many drinks we drank. All he offered was to take 3 drinks off the menu but that doesn't make me whole. He provided me with the wrong pricing and should've stood behind it. Since the restaurant staff won't fix their wrongs I am left with no choice but voice my concerns on this platform and hope the owner sees this and reaches out to me. The service was just as disappointing. We waited a very long time for our tostadas for our Aguachiles and even longer for basic things like silverware. The bartender Joel blamed the delays on the restaurant being crowded, but that excuse didn't make sense because we were one of the only customers ordering food at the time. To make matters worse, the food was mid at best and definitely not worth the prices they charge. What's even more misleading is that the food menu doesn't list all prices, so you have no idea what you're going to be paying until the bill arrives for many of their items. Overall, the misleading happy hour information, lack of full menu pricing, slow service, and underwhelming food made for a frustrating experience. I felt misled and taken advantage of. I won't be coming back, and I wouldn't recommend this place if you're looking for honest pricing or good service. 0/10 the entire experience is unacceptable please stay away ! read more

A great birthday celebration I had the fried fish I loved it. My friend had the great idea of asking for gloves! That really made my meal so pleasant nothing worse than fingering a fish. Finally made it out to this place for a late lunch. Wanting a cold and refreshing meal, mostly ceviche and agua chile type food. No wait for an inside table , multiple outdoor tables but it was still really hot despite fans and open air space. Quick service by waitress, she made sure to ask if it was our first time too; manager came to check on our experience at the end of the meal and made sure to invite us back with a coupon for a complementary agua chile next time. Tried a variety of food: Taco de Marlin and taco mar y tierra (grilled beef and shrimps) - both delicious Agua chile negro is a huge serving of raw peeled and split shrimp over slice cucumbers in a dark marinade that seems soy sauce or Worcestershire based. Very delicious and fresh. I got a camaron ceviche tostada: mixed raw shrimp and cooked shrimp plus lots of onions, crunchy cucumbers in a citrus mix. Ambiance: We came in on a Friday afternoon and were seated right away. Being here makes you feel like you're taken out of Downey and on vacation. Lovely out door seating, lively music, fun decor, and large Tv screens playing the World Cup. It was a lively but also relaxing vibe. An excellent experience from start to finish! The seafood was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The drinks were delicious, but the oyster shots "Pajuelazo" were definitely the highlight of the night. As an appetizer, we tried the Ceviche Mitotero Appetizer, and it was outstanding. We also highly recommend the shrimp and octopus cocktail, which was one of our favorite dishes because of its freshness and amazing flavor. Tried this place out on a Sunday night after seeing all of the reviews on yelp. The ambience was very loud as they had live Banda music, so I couldn't hear conversation with my friend. Our servers name was Andre, he was very friendly and chatty and checked on us a few times and always made sure our water cup was full. We got a Paloma and a lime margarita, the Paloma came out warm after waiting 20 minutes for it. The lime margarita was fake tasting. So I definitely don't recommend the alcoholic beverages here. We ordered two shrimp and steak tacos, and the all seafood tostada. Food was very good. The bill was $83 for two drinks and two entrées. Definitely plan to spend money if you come here.
