    Ceviche with avocado
    Lucy O.

Amazing! Ceviche is my absolute favorite food and this place delivered. Mariscos El Pariente is located inside the Mercado Gonzalez in Costa Mesa. There are so many food spots to choose from at Mercado Gonzalez, but I'm glad I chose Mariscos El Pariente. The ceviche was flavorful and not overcooked. They make their ceviche fresh daily in lime. I loved that they have a variety of ceviches to choose from as well as aguachiles. We ordered the mixed ceviche and the avocado ceviche. They were both delicious but my favorite was the mixed ceviche. You can really taste the quality of the shrimp and the tostadas they give you go perfectly with the ceviche. I thought that the prices were reasonable and the service was great! There are many tables within Mercado Gonzalez where you can sit and enjoy your food. I can't wait to go back and try more of their ceviches.

    $13/lb pescado ceviche. Good!

Located in the popular Northgate Mercado, this was my first visit after waiting for the crowd to die down. I've heard a lot of good things about this ceviche so this was definitely on my list to try. First of all, the ceviche to me was just ok. Whether it was shrimp ceviche or pescado ceviche, it had the same flavor. I'm not sure if it was because I'm not a fan of shrimp ceviche but lover also thought the ceviche was just okay. I didn't try any of the agua chili ceviches either. I did appreciate the service as they were very nice and let me try whatever ceviche I wanted. Overall, this just wasn't for me but the other restaurants in Mercado would work just fine.

Came to the north gate market to check out the different vendors and stumbled on this place. The ceviches here are some of the best I have ever tried. They let you sample any of the flavors (they have tons to choose from) and are very generous with the sample size too. We ended up getting the mango shrimp ceviche because of the sweet, tangy, and spicy taste. The shrimp is super fresh and it pairs brilliantly with the mango which gives a nice crunch along with the onions. Every bite is so satisfying and light. I could honestly eat the whole container by myself. It is paid by weight, and this whole container was only 15$! I would definitely recommend trying this place out if you're in north gate, you won't regret it!

Located in the Mercado Gonzales market. They have a variety of ceviches at $12/lb. I asked what the most popular/favorite ceviche was and they recommended the aguaceviche (with shrimp and avocado) and it was delicious! Much better than any ceviches I've had at restaurants around Orange County. I also tried the ceviche with mango and white fish, but didn't think they were as good as the aguaceviche.

One of the restaurants inside of the Northgate Market, but really an amazing variety of super good ceviche. We have been here multiple times now and everything we've had is great. Tangy and citrusy, tender fish. Great kick for the spicy ones. Their chips were also exceptional. They are full tortilla rounds, but some kind of crispy almost puffed rice texture that was unique and great. Can't wait to get it again.

I had blue specs of plastic in my ceviche. They need to use stainless steel mixing containers

They give you the option of either a 4oz or 6oz, priced at $34 and $49. It's a Connecticut style roll made with buttered lobster on a toasted brioche bun. It also comes with a side of fries and you can choose your choice of seasoning, "Chef's way" or "Maine style." The roll is pretty expensive but honestly worth it in my opinion because of how much lobster they pack into it. The brioche bread was perfectly toasted. The lobster was fresh and buttery without making the bread soggy, even after pouring extra melted butter on top. This is definitely the best lobster roll I've had.

He claimed that they were not using InKind anymore and couldn't take our InKind payment, even though they were still on the app. The reason why we went here was to use our InKind benefits, which were available here according to InKind. He then claimed that it was my father's responsibility to contact InKind about this issue and that it was our problem??? No accountability at all from the manager. Grow up. The food is pretty good. Our waitress was also great. But there are major issues besides that.

I walked up to the hostess podium and I was ignored. Then I said that I was checking in for 5:30p reservations and the hostess said " that's gonna be much later than. I'll probably get your party in closer to 6:30p." Obviously I was upset by this response since we drove over an hour to this restaurant for the sole purpose of a celebration of life. If reservations were going to be ignored then I would not have bothered making them in a timely matter as I was instructed to do by the organizer of the evening. I basically got the brush off like there was nothing they could do since people were not leaving (including walk-ins) after a 90 min dining limit was posted outside. I was very peeved about this response and said clearly that is not my problem yet I am being penalized. My first encounter with the hostess carried throughout my visit. Our servers name was Linda and she took our drink order as soon as we were seated, however it did seem to take a while for our drinks to arrive. Apologies were made again for the wait but at this point it was clear there was gonna be an issue throughout the meal. I ordered a Caprese salad with brussels sprouts to share family style .When my salad arrived there was no basil. It was just mozzarella and tomatoes, balsamic and olive oil with a dried herb sprinkled on top. When I asked my server if this is how the Caprese is served she said yes. I never had a Caprese with no leaves of basil. Needless to say it's not what I wanted nor expected. My sprouts were dry and overcooked. Linda was truly trying to be accommodating. I could tell she is working very hard to satisfy our group despite the fact the restaurant was packed. Linda was great. We decided to share key lime pie and the warm butter cake w/ ice cream and raspberry sauce. The key lime pie was fine. The warm butter cake was a bit different as it had a hard sugar top. Ice cream with raspberry sauce on the side as well as below. It was too much sauce for my taste. More like a jelly doughnut. My blueberry pomegranate margarita was the best part of my meal. There were so many things that may seem small but were enhanced because I was already upset. The fact the restaurant overly committed and couldn't handle the amount of people was a real issue.

5-Star Review: Shuck Oyster Bar in Costa Mesa - Absolutely Outstanding Seafood Experience!…read moreI recently visited Shuck Oyster Bar in Costa Mesa (located at 3313 Hyland Ave suite C 21), and wow - it exceeded every expectation! If you're a seafood lover, especially oysters or creative tacos, this place is a must-try. We started with the oysters from Washington - a beautiful variety platter of four different types. Each one was fresher and more incredible than the last, with that perfect briny pop and clean finish. They were absolutely amazing and easily some of the best I've ever had. Then came the tacos, and they stole the show. The lobster tacos were out of this world - on a completely different level! Tender, flavorful lobster with perfect seasoning and toppings that made every bite pure bliss. The fish tacos were excellent - fresh, crispy, and perfectly balanced. And don't sleep on the shrimp tacos either; they were delicious and rounded out an epic trio. The calamari was some of the best I've ever tasted - light, crispy, and not greasy at all. We also got the lobster roll, which was again on another level - generous portions of sweet lobster in a buttery roll that was just heavenly. To top it off, the fish and chips were spot-on: crispy batter, flaky fish, and that classic satisfaction. A great touch was the cucumber-infused water - so refreshing and a nice thoughtful detail. The atmosphere is fantastic: chill vibe, not too noisy, and since we went before noon, it wasn't busy at all - perfect for a relaxed meal. The service was friendly and attentive. Overall, Shuck Oyster Bar is now one of my absolute number-one go-to spots in Orange County. I can't wait to come back - probably very soon! If you love oysters, fresh seafood, or just great food in a cool setting, you've gotta try this place. Highly recommend to friends, family, and anyone who appreciates quality seafood. 10/10 - we'll be regulars!

First time visitor Opening parking lot…read more Location can be seen from parking lot but there are 2 entrances Primarily indoor dining and few outdoor spots Reservations seems to be a preference as everyone entering asked if they had a reservation but walk in we're still accommodated Happy hour weekly specials that inside oysters clams and and drinks Bar sitting and some table sitting available as everything is more on the compact side It can get very noisy but everyone was having a upbeat good time 2 flat screens for sports Food wise a little of everything was available from shareable, seafood style dishes like tacos and uni pasta and lobster linguini, along with burgers and sliders both fish and chicken Shucking of oysters or clams is visible at bar top and it would appear the place got busy real quick but was short handed as the servers were doing a bit of everything but also took time to notice patrons were looking for assistance and grabbing orders to run. Also very much chatting with each other and even when making eye contact with servers for assistance was ignored. Food wise order the dozen oyster chef choice, grill cheese, chowder fries, ahi and lobster taco Dozen oyster there were 3 types all on the brinier side with the final ones more brinier than others and accompany with ginger 2 types of chili sauce and pickle red onion Chowder fries a bit on the salty side with some bites but had a nice chowder and fries ratio With little heat from the Fresno chili that were garnished Tacos were served with in a blue corn tortilla, for $6 each on the smaller side like a street taco and flavors wise pretty basic, didn't stand out very much Grill cheese with 4 pieces very buttery toast nice crunch and gooey melty cheeses Overall pretty decent food but wasn't impress with the service and though short handed, there wasn't a sense of urgency to assist, minimal acknowledgment, and wasn't checked back on after food was dropped off as others were being asked around us Also noticed in their food kitchen window as dishes were waiting to be picked up there was a plate of burger and fries and someone from the kitchen twice with barehand taking bunches of fries from a already prepare plate to be delivered. Seemed very odd. Unsure if would return to this establishment.
