This place is mediocre, the food was ok, but don't expect a discount for police, firefighters or veterans. There are far better Mexican restaurants in Winnemucca. My advise not a do over! Driving across Nevada we stopped here on the strength of reviews and were not disappointed. We were concerned that there was only one customer st 6:30 on Saturday but apparently there was some big event in town. Friendly service from the ownet...good food without much waiting. A Mexican seafood restaurant on the east end of town. The food was very good I was surprised I did not expect that and I'm picky when it comes to Mexican food. I had shrimp(Camerones) Diablo red sauce very good and spicy. The only reason I didn't give it five stars because of the proportion was a little small but the prices are reasonable. Marisgos! Want authentic delicious Mexican food? I'd drive 3 hours to get here!!!! I love, LOVE, love chili rellenos. However, must places want to dramatize their batter and it overwhelms the pepper. Marisgos GOT IT RIGHT! OMGoodness, it was perfect! Not floating in a cup of sauce, just stand alone delicious. My husband ate ordinary, chicken enchiladas, and said they were outstanding. If you're there for authentic and delicious, you won't waste your time. BTW, their cocktails were absolutely wonderful. We don't do fancy drinks but, believe me, more than two cocktails and you'll be looking for a driver. A wonderful surprise on our one-night stop in Winnemucca on a road trip. I was expecting the typical Mexican dive, but the Vegetables were fresh and tasty, the margaritas were great, and the seafood in my fish tacos and my husbands shrimp fajitas excellent. Usually I'm a bit leery of seafood 400 miles from the ocean, but this proved me very wrong. The owner was our waitress and was very pleasant and attentive. This was a family stop: 2 adults plus kids (3, 4, 8). We got the flautas, carne asada, and a cheese quesadilla for the kids. The carne asada was flavorful covered in onions and about 1/8" thick. The flautas were the size of taquitos and not very flavorful. The lettuce / tomatos on top of the flautas was good. The salsa for the chips was good. The atmosphere was noisy - lots of echos from the small bar. Even though there was a bar, I rate it - family friendly. The prices were very reasonable. I love coming across restaurants like this one. It's on the outskirts of Winnemucca, away from the main strip. The restaurant is small and casual. Our waitress, who I'm assuming might have been the owner too, was very nice and helpful. The food was the best Mexican I've had in a long time. I had the shrimp fajitas and my friend had the fish and shrimp ceviche, both were excellent. I tried a few other restaurants in town during my stay, and I'd say if you only have 1 meal in Winnemucca, I'd highly recommend this place. read more

This is the most terrible restaurant in Winnemucca. The food is terrible tasting. over salty and brings to the table on the back side of cold. Wait staff take FOREVER to bring ur drinks (normally b/c they give the bar more props than a family). I even had a bill added wrong (prolly due to the language understanding). Being from California it is hard to find a good Mexican restaurant in a place where your are not familiar let alone top your go to places where you live. Came will here my family. As soon as we got there friendly staff family oriented great experience. The food was the best part mariscos were on point fresh. I would say the seafood molcajete(like a skillet dish) was incredible. Camarones ala diabla were spicy and great sauce delicious. The caldo 7 mares were even better. Aguachiles being Mexican it almost impossible to find some that are good. They were!! Portions are well served you will leave full and especially the variety is well mixed. Fast service very little wait time and food was hot. Top favorite place when we're near by. Maria the owner was very polite had a great time talking to her and all around good family owned restaurant. For anyone that knows Mexican food you know what tops great food fresh made tortillas thats right there here too! Highly recommend mariscos el Rey. Wonderful and authentic food, "relaxed" service. Out of the way location was worth the drive. The caldo de pescado was delicious but shrimp tacos and the red salsa served with chips were the stars!
