I stumbled on this place when the place I intended to go had closed for the week. Their menu is different, but don't let that dissuade you. This may be the best Mexican Restaurant I've ever eaten at (and that is saying something). I had the lunch special, Chicken Fajitas. Just excellent. The place is modest but clean. Food is good, but service was bad for us. It's a little place, looks like a family owned business. We had high hopes traveling from the yelp reviews, but the service was poor. Started off with a young man that looks to be mid teens that took our order (well sort of). I ordered 1 item, but then he cut me off and proceeded to take orders from the rest of the group when I wasn't finished. Before the next person finished their order he walked away and didn't come back. We stood looking at each other trying to figure out if he was going to come back or not. The mystery person pulled a Houdini and didn't return so I stuck my head in the kitchen and asked the cook where he went. She said she didn't speak English, only Spanish and turned around. Well I appreciated the non help to finish our order, but I only spoke Spanglish and couldn't explain the situation clear. Fortunately someone from our party spoke Spanish got up and let her know what happened so we basically had to reorder. Well surprise surprise the order came out incorrect mysteriously. Incorrect I say, yes and probably has something to do with the half order that was taken. So again we tried to let the women in the kitchen know about the mix up and the boy got sent out. He was rude and blamed it on us and we received poor service the whole time. We let the women in the kitchen know about his poor service in Spanish, but it's looks like the boy was in charge and she took the complaint as a grain of salt. No apologies, only excuses. The food was good, but service was ridiculous. We will not be back unfortunately and I'm done with the mysteries for today! read more

I had never heard of Galt, CA when I saw that my son had a soccer game there last weekend. My initial search for a place to eat after the game showed burgers and sports bars -- the laminated multi-page menu world I am so allergic to. Then a Yelp review lead me to this place and I am SO glad I followed my instincts. Seafood at a small, brightly painted cinderblock building is not what I would go to without some reassurance from others. Wow! So -- this place? Friendly, sweet, clean, inexpensive AND delicious?? Does it get better? We had fish tacos and super spicy salsa (six different hot sauce options on the table) with a side of rice and beans and drinks. The owners, including the young teen helping us couldn't be friendlier. I will always take an independently owned care-driven place like this over a chain when we are traveling for soccer any time I can find one. I can't say I am eager to drive two hours for a soccer game again, but if life brings me to Galt I will make it back to Moriscos Guamuchil. Gracias! read more

The girl at the counter looked mad, didn't even say hello, after a few min she came and asked if we were going to order drinks, the girl had no personality!!! The menus had sticky residue, I traded it for another one and had the same result. I ordered the shrimp tostada, when I took a bite of it, it tasted like paper, and it had a very funky smell to it.
