This place is tiny and comfortable! This is our first time here and I have to say I cannot wait to come back! First, we were greeted right when we opened the door and she was friendly. The waitress was super nice and she explained the menu since it was only in Spanish. She gave us time to think about what we wanted to order. The chips and salsa are FIREEEEEE. I ordered a shrimp and octopus cocktail. It was HUGE. For $25 there was so much shrimp and octopus. It came with 4 tostadas and 3 packs of the saladitas. So delicious! read more

Ordered a tostada de ceviche de pescado and it was just okay. Also ordered a tostada de ceviche de camaron cosido and it had no flavor. We then asked for avocado and they said they were not ripe yet, but allowed the table next to us to order guacamole. To finish it off, they don't tell you it's $3.00 if you pay with a card. And they charge you tax on each item individually so you end up paying 20.5% in taxes. Wouldn't recommend and double check your receipt. read more

Ordené unos tacos empanizados de camarón y la verdad estaban saladísimos. Apenas los probé y no pude seguir comiendo. Además, la verdura que traían encima estaba color café, como cuando ya está vieja o lleva varios días. Cuando le comenté la situación al dueño, no intentó remediar el problema en ningún momento. Su única "solución" fue descontarme $1, diciendo que era el cobro por usar mi tarjeta de débito. El problema no era el dinero, sino que tuve que dejar toda la comida entera porque simplemente no tenía buen sabor. Además, su actitud fue burlona y de muy mal gusto, mostrando una falta total de respeto hacia el cliente. Love this low key spot. The decor is super cool but more importantly the servers are very nice and friendly. I had me the shrimp cocktail and tostada ceviche. Typical Mexican Mariscos spot, I assume Sinaloa style Mariscos. Food was tho. We tried some mariscos forgot the name, tacos Governador and some Camarones Naufragos. Sauce is yummy and spicy, and comes with sliced potatoes. Everything we ordered was so good. Price is not bad, place is small and doesnt look like a anything special, but they got a repeat customer haha Got a new go-to spot for mariscos. Ummmmmmmm....what to say! I have been here twice. The first visit was much more satisfying than the second. First visit I ordered the camarones plebes. Ooh, I loved the sauce. It was rich, spicy and buttery. The shrimp..well those were dry as hell. I'm not sure if that's how they're supposed to be. They seemed like they were overcooked the day before and left out to dry all night, before they used them. Nonetheless, I still ate them and did enjoy them. I LOVED the potatoes in the dish. They soaked up the sauce and it was so goooooddd!! My boyfriend ordered some mariscos plate that was mixed. Everything was cooked. The serving was MOUNTAINOUS! It was huge! He eats a LOT, and he couldn't get passed half the serving. The flavors were delicious. The seafod and vegetables were great. My second time, I ordered aguachiles and the camarones plebes plate (again) to go. I was really disappointed =( the aguachiles were...ugh. The shrimp were absolutely raw. And yes, I know they're supposed to be raw, but it's as though they didn't get seasoned at all. It was just raw shrimp, plopped in the to-go carton. They didn't have any flavor and were simply bland and mushy. I've had lots of aguachiles. I even make my own and I could tell these were not seasoned at all. The salsa, I don't remember it. I think I liked it? But since I didn't like the shrimp I didn't eat too much. The camarones plebes (what would save the day!) were so unsatisfying as well. The shrimp were dry again. The potatoes were so CHEWY! like, I almost had to chew them like taffy. It was so weird! My considerations were they were fried in old oil. Or, they were fried in the morning, or the day before, and were getting hard and leathery as time went on, until they were used. They simply were unpleasant and unappetizing. I had to scrounge for some passable potatoes. I didn't want the second dish to go to waste too. I was still hungry! This was supposed to be lunch -_- So, I collected some salvageable potatoes and soaked them in the sauce. After that, I was happy. I know I'll be back. I think that second visit isn't really what they want their plates to be like, and I hope it was just a bad day. read more

My boyfriend and I went to this place because we were craving ceviche and it was hot! So we found this place and we placed an order! We were content the minute we got there because it was pretty packed and people were enjoying the food. While we were waiting for our order I was looking around and noticed the floors were dirty and they had a microwave. Places with microwaves are already a turn-off for me and my boyfriend but we still had the benefit of the dought. So we got our tray it had shrimp.. Octopus and so many other things.. And cucumber and tomatoes we were given so many chips salsa and tostadas. When we got home, we opened it.. It looked really good! And we ate it and it was good but after a while, I noticed that it was fishy.. And I mean like bad fishy... so we stopped to eat. TWO days later.. Mine and my boyfriends stomachs started to hurt so much and we were nauseous had the chills.. Major restroom problems.. And we still have it.. It's been like 2 weeks.. They definitely did not do this tray properly and it must have been sitting out for a while.. That's why bacteria grew.. I'm very disappointed and so annoyed and upset that my boyfriend and I have been dealing with this pain and constant stomach bug for this long and it hasn't progressed.. I WILL NEVER EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN!! it's unfortunate because I do like their food and our family dines here or order to go 2-5 times a month. However, I found out today that they have been charging me a percentage of my bill for paying with my credit card. Today I ordered 2 dishes and the total was $41.50, a bit more than what I expected. No big deal but out of curiosity I asked and turns out that the fee for using my credit card was $1.50. They don't even tell you that they're charging you this unless you ask. I'm sorry but this should not be!!! At least put a sign at the front of register letting you know you'll be charged. But it's like a hidden fee. I told the girl at the front to let the owner know that this was going to be the last time I eat there. I don't know about you but none of the other restaurant that I go to charges me to use my credit card. So, Los Plebes, you've just lost a loyal customer for being so cheap. I have a feeling that I am not the first customer you have lost because of this reason. Good luck I understand that the company Clover charges for their service. But it's charging you, the business. You should not in turn charge the customer for that. And yes, you are not the only business that does this, that's why I don't go to those business anymore either. 99% of the restaurants I frequent do not charge. read more

As is with soup noodles in Westminster or tacos in Santa Ana, to get the good stuff you have to be willing to drive away from the mainstream customer base and on into the smaller, ethnic neighborhoods. This little mariscos joint is a perfect example of such a place. You can get platters (enchiladas, quesadillas) loaded with mounds (felt like 2lbs) of deliciously braised sea food (octopus, white fish, shrimp) with chips + excellent salsas for around $10. This is crazy good sea food for the money. Also, your typical plates like enchiladas, chilaquiles, wet burritos are priced between $6.99 and $8. Giant portions, delicious, authentic Mexican food. If you're in the corporate areas of Downey or Whittier it's well worth the 10 minute drive out of the way.
