I ordered al pastor. What I received was a MYSTERY. An enigma wrapped in a tortilla. A culinary cold case. I grabbed a small piece just to investigate like a detective, like a FOOL and BRUHHHH. The moment it touched my tongue I went through all five stages of grief in under three seconds. That meat was SOUR. Like legitimately, offensively, inexcusably, CRIMINALLY SOUR. And before anyone asks..no lemon. Not a drop. Not a squeeze.. This was au naturel sour, which means that meat did that ALL ON ITS OWN. That is not a seasoning situation. That is a storage situation. A note before I go..all jokes aside: This review is not meant to drag this place as a whole. I have not tried their other locations and this may very well be an isolated experience. However, on a serious food safety level, serving meat that has clearly gone bad is not a laughing matter, even if I made it one. Spoiled meat is a genuine health risk and I am honestly relieved I only took one small bite to taste test rather than eating the whole thing. We reported it because no one should unknowingly consume food that has gone bad. To the restaurant: please prioritize proper food storage and quality checks, especially during late night hours. There was another older lady with glasses working the front. I politely said, "Oh my gosh, ma'am, I'm so sorry. I forgot to ask for no beans. Does the torta come with beans?" She said yes. I apologized again and asked if there was any way they could remove the beans or simply change the bread. Her response was, "No, it's already done. You should have thought about that when you first ordered the torta." I again admitted that it was my mistake and that it had simply slipped my mind, and I asked if there was anything they could do. She said no and told me that if I wanted a torta without beans, I would have to pay for an entirely new one. I understand that I made the mistake, but the issue wasn't the beans, it was the attitude and lack of customer service. I work in the food and restaurant industry myself, and if a customer came to me and said they accidentally forgot to mention something on their order, I would do everything I could to make it right because that's how customer service should be handled. I love my customers, want them to return, and want them to leave happy and share positive experiences. The pupusas were absolutely delicious, but customer service is top-tier for me, and because of this experience, I will definitely not be returning. It seemed like this employee simply didn't care about the customer experience, and unfortunately, that's how businesses lose customers. I hope management addresses this issue because the lady with glasses either needs additional customer service training or needs to change the way she treats customers. A little kindness and understanding go a long way. Also, my boyfriend is a content creator and was recording our experience, so this interaction will likely be featured on his YouTube channel as well.
