This is fish like we had in family fish frys. The friendly greeting at the door set the tone for the whole experience! Service was caring, very quick, and consistent. I had the Soft Shell crab Po Boy sandwich and black eyed peas and rice. True southern style food. My husband had crab cakes and hush puppies. Heard there was another new owner, so I tried again. Ordered an appetizer or calamari and an appetizer of crab cakes. $45....not a typo. The Calamari was frozen and thrown in the fryer in a clump. Some pieces cooked, others still wadded up were frozen. Not edible. And what happened to the 3 chefs that prepared the amazing food. No chefs. No customers. Clam chowder, needed a little more seasoning, I try NOT to add salt but it just needed a dab and the cup & bowl were delicious! Pesto fettuccine & Cream fettuccine ( top with chicken!) had a duel & the cream won! They served with garlic bread, toasted perfectly. Fish & chip? WHAT THE? OMG the beer batter is perfect!!! The fish is local catch and SO FRESH! The tarter sauce is EXCELLENT! substitute garlic fries, you won't regret it. The house champagne was excellent. I also had jumbo shrimp & oysters on the 3way combo! Enough to share but you will want the fish to yourself! Don't forget dessert! The brownie with ice cream is delicious. The keylime pie texture was not to my preference but I brought it home to chill in fridge & that made it better! You can sit inside or outside if it's warm enough. My mother and I came here today to try out the fish & chips. Not being a big fan myself, I ordered a cheese burger (what could go wrong?). Well, the servers were both very friendly and kind -but service was slow. Should've know that walking in at noon and a silent establishment on a Saturday was bad news. My mother's fish was battered but the coating wasn't cooked all the way through. My burger? Simultaneously, raw and burnt. The bun was burnt the patty looked as if it had been boiled from frozen and then served (tasted as such.) I feel queasy thinking about it. The food is really deliciousluy made by Chef Sarah. She customized our order of the Combo #2 of the dinner menu. She made a mix of well seasoned and breaded calamari, fish and shrimp dish with a crispy salad. The ingredients were fresh. Sarah is the soul of the restaurant. She goes above and beyond to make yourself feel at home. I hope people who read this goes and tries her food. Sarah is the Chef for lunch, and in the evenings, she switches her roles to welcoming the guests while the evening Chef prepares the dinner. I should have taken a picture of my dish, but I was so hungry that I just took my fork to devore the mixed seafood. Seriously, the calamari, shrimp and fish were fresh. I would definitely return and try the Louie salad that my husband ordered. My little girl ordered chicken tenders and fries. The tenders were like no other, she actually finish good size tenders rather quickly. Food here is definitely fresh, simple but unique! My wife and I had an early lunch on Wednesday. Was not crowded but don't let that fool you. Myra the owner waited on us promptly. We started with clam chowder which was excellent and hot. We both ordered the shrimp tacos. Very good with a nice slaw with a chipotle cream salsa. We ordered an order of cod fish and chips to split as well. Fish was light and airy and not too much batter. Really fresh and good. Home made tarter sauce was great too. Fries were hot and crunchy. Overall a good meal. We stop in here for lunch or dinner whenever we're in town. Current owner and our chef, Mayra, was friendly and greeted us with such a warm smile. A very large party was just finishing up and had her quite busy but she still had the kind presence to greet us warmly. This is a clean and unpretentious place to get very fresh selections. I had a chicken Carbonara pasta and my husband had the cod prepared blackened. Mine dish was flavorful and full of garlic (yum) offset by some very fresh and flavorful tomatoes. My husband loved the freshness and quality of the fish and said the mixed veggies were great. They were cooked slightly al dente and had very fresh flavor. He often finds summer squashes taste like dirt but not these! They were simply but nicely prepared. There are a couple tables out front and thanks to California's great weather we usually choose to sit out there. Kimberly was Mayra's very attentive and helpful assistant who kept our water filled and made sure we had everything we needed. So many smiles and a great experience from this minority and woman owned business. We really enjoyed our meal and will return next time we're in the area. read more

We were back last night, hoping for a reprieve from a stressful day and a relaxing dinner we didn't need to prepare. The parking was excellent when we arrived at shortly before 6 pm; we parked in front of the door. Most of the lights were off, but the door was open and nobody was inside to acknowledge we'd gone inside and started to review the menu. After we talked loudly for a few minutes, the waitress apologized and showed up. She gave us a second menu and we found a table in the room next door. She brought waters as we decided on the menu. The sand dabs (again!) were well cooked and hot; the vegetables and rice pilaf had cooled to room temperature on the plates while the fish cooked. She brought our plates, but didn't remember silver and napkins till we showed up in the kitchen to ask for them. Then another trip to the kitchen to ask for the garlic fries, which were a very soggy pile. The Other Brother beer was excellent and served correctly. By this time another customer arrived and was seated near us in the second room. And in the meantime several takeout orders were picked up; that now seems to be their primary business. We asked to share a hot fudge sundae, which came with implements this time. Despite our gluten-free discussion earlier, it consisted of one scoop of vanilla ice cream on warm chocolate fudge cake with a tablespoon of canned whip on top, no hot fudge and (for one of us) mostly inedible chocolate cake. This was far from our idea of hot fudge sundae! As we left, our waitress switched on the outside lights to help us get to the car by the front door. Having the lights on during dinner might have attracted another diner or two. The waitress was trying to please; clearly there were other demands on her time that were more urgent. Perhaps our mistake was to go for dinner as we had in past years. But our impression is that this restaurant has fallen to a takeout place at dinner time. We won't be trying again at lunch, sadly. read more

The place isn't cheap either. We ended up getting two salmon plates. The fish is thinly sliced. With that said, how could it be UNDER cooked? Who knows. Not recommending and not returning. We ordered the following for delivery: Bowl of clam chowder - had a nice smokey flavor which reminded me of bbq that I strangely enjoyed. Sand dabs - cooked perfectly. My kids gobbled it up along with the vegetables. Calamari steak - so tender and delicious Seafood pasta - we ordered this for the kids, but it has a bit of heat to it (my kids are super sensitive to spice). My husband and I enjoyed it. Salad - it had these delicious peppers that paired so well with the dressing. Each entree came with a side of garlic bread, but we were too stuffed to get to it. It was the perfect way to end our mini getaway. Good food delivered on time that tasted great while we unwound from an activity filled day at the aquarium. read more

Super disappointing and bad customer service. Apparently they close when they feel like it. I had been calling since 7pm to place a order to go. I called about 11 times and it was busy. So I decided to just drive down there and place a order. Upon arrival there was a couple of tables inside and outside. I go inside and asked to place an order and they told me that they're closed. I told them that I have been calling for the past 30 minutes and the reason why is because they just take the phone off the hook because they're close which is super unprofessional. I asked her why online states that they're open till 830 and they couldn't tell me a reason why but only could say that if I were to place an order it would take till about 10 o'clock for me to get my food which makes no sense that it will take over an hour to just to fry some fish. I also don't think that this business should get all the great reviews from what used to be the fish wife because it is not the same owners and definitely does not have the same customer service they used to have. They definitely need to update their open hours and talk to their employees about having good customer service. read more

During COVID times I miss eating out. The fam and I were spending a few days in our timeshare and wanted to have GOOD seafood for lunch. Location of this place is great, there is seating outside and it was easy to find. You can't miss the great signage outside. I ordered 3 bowls of clam chowder and 2 orders fried calamari. The chowder was VERY good, full of clams, thick and definitely made with love. The calamari portion was big and crisp, a pleasant surprise because I usually order 2 anywhere. They use steak-size strips of calamari with a great panko-style breading. Next time we're in the area we will try more of their menu. They now serve food like "The Boiling Crab." Don't get these mixed up because the quality of their food & species are totally different. Would I come back here for their wanna be boiling crab dishes? NO. Perhaps I would try their original menu from their "Fishwife" menu. The sauce was too thick & really didn't have much seasoning. The potatoes were too large in my shrimp bag and the potatoes were undercooked so they were still on the raw side. I didn't complain when the owner came by my table, but instead they can read my review. Do not waste your time or money getting anything on their wanna be "Boiling Crab" menu because you will be disappointed just like me and my gal friend. Her fried shrimp plate only had 6 shrimps on her plate. The seasoned fries on her plate was not good either. My 1 pound shrimp bag only had about 10-11 shrimps. At "The Boiling Crab" I would at least get 22+ shrimps & their sauce is way better!! The price is not worth it either. Great experience the service was amazing! Not sure if she was the owner or just a worker but our server was the best! The food was delicious fish was breaded in cornmeal which I've never had before it's usually deep fried in batter but it was so delicious and not super greasy!! We got clam chowder in a bowl, but she was about to split for us that's why it's in a small bowl. I would definitely go again.
