Date of service: March 21, 2025…read more Really appreciated that I could schedule an appointment online with Mr Appliance through their website as I tend to be crazy busy during working hours and loathe leaving voicemails for companies and playing phone tag. Jalen with Mr Appliance also came when they said they would come and resolved the issue quickly and easily. The issue was a grinding noise that our less than three year old dryer was making. an obvious sign that something was not right. Jalen suspected a potential blower motor issue and got to work on resolving it. 25 minutes later the problem was fixed: Excess lint buildup that got through the lint trip and into the machine, causing the motor to have to work harder than it needed to. He showed me all of the lint he pulled out, but he piled it up on the runner below the dryer and on the top of our glass-topped washing machine, requiring me to clean off the washer and wash the runner. In addition, it was $243 for less than a half hour of his time. If the service call is $129, that would make the hourly rate $200 for Mr Appliance--I am clearly in the wrong line of work! Unfortunately I can't really give more than three stars given the cost and cleanup from the appointment.

I explained that I had an air conditioner/hearting unit that needed help. I explained that the unit was smelling of vinegar and moldy smell. I explained that the unit was cooling but that it was extremely hot to the touch outside. I was told that it was most likely a valve that was plugged and that they could come out and fix that and clean the unit. I set up my appointment for 3:00. The next day I called and asked if I could have both units cleaned so I would be set for winter. I again explained that these were hear and air units AND gave them the name of the unit I had in my shop. I was told they could do that. They did ask if they could back the appointment up to 1:30 and I agreed. On that day I get a call at 11:50 that Mr. Michael Gaughan is on their way. I race over there and open up my shop. I am waiting for 20 minutes so I call to make sure they did not come early and leave. The person on the phone tells me they are still on their way. Ten minutes later I get a call from Mr. Gaughan from his vehicle asking me if I am there even though he parked right in front of the shop and could clearly see me inside the building. He walked in and I proceeded to show him where the units where and what was happening. He cut off my sentence by wanting to see where they were in back. We walked around the building and he looks at the one unit and asks me if the unit is working and I said yes, but it is running really hot. I told him that the company thought it was something plugged. He then asks me if water comes out of the unit. I said I did not know for sure because se there has been no water coming out of it. He then asks me why I would think water would be coming out and I said because the condensation has to go somewhere and its clearly standing water inside. He then asks me where the water is. And I have no idea what he is talking about. And he said well the water to hook up a hose. And I said, we do not have water back here. It is in front of the building. Is this so you can clean the unit or what because your company never said anything about this. So he then starts walking the opposite way of where we came in. Not to look at the other unit but just walks away from me. I ask him what he is doing and that there are no water outlets over there. He proceeds to tell me that he is nosy and he just likes to nose around and see what's going on. I tell him that where the trash is and it's easier to get back the way we came. On the way back I show him where the water hoses are and he complains that his hose may not go back that far. Back in the shop, he then turns to me and asks me what he wants me to do? Does he want me to take the unit out? Does he want me to take all the insulation out? How the heck do I know? I called his company and they told me they would clean the unit and fix the draining issue. They never asked me any questions. So finally I ask him if he has ever seen a unit like this. And he tells me he only works on big units and split units. I ask him if he knows what to do because if he is not comfortable doing this I cannot afford to have him mess it up and need a new unit. And he still has never even looked at the other unit. So then He starts complaining about how he would have to do this and I have now lost confidence in this guy. So I call his company back and tell them that this guy is not sure how to proceed and could you talk to him. I am now in business mode voice stating that I told you everything when I made the appointment and now I have someone who I am worried is going to screw things up worse. So I give Mr. Gaughan my phone and they discuss it. He hands the phone back to me and the they tell me that he knows what to do and it will be okay. I again reiterate that if he does not feel confident doing this I cannot afford to buy another AC. So I get off the phone and say you are good to go. But by that time Mr. Gaughan has developed an attitude. He takes two steps and gives me the stink eye. Takes two more steps and gives me the stink eye. He then takes out the filter to the AC which is clean and then shoves it back into the unit. He tries to pull the front plate off of the unit and cannot and clearly does not know what he is doing. I then say to him; I do not understand what is the attitude here. Look, if I am not confident in my job, I let the client know so they do not walk out unhappy. Do you feel comfortable in what you are doing? He turns to me glaring. I am looking back at me and he starts walking past the door and takes two steps and says angrily Competent and then walks some more and says competent. And I say back to him, I have no idea what is going on here or what you mean by this. He then walks around his truck and stands there doing nothing and then he walks over to the other side

Thank goodness we had a smart dryer that stopped working because of the clog. It would've been super cool if they were able to put on a cover/cage so the birds didn't come back again because we don't have a ladder that's tall enough. Obviously outside of their scope but might be something to consider for an extra price.

Really nice guy, knowledgable and professional. Also honest. I've had service people give me a quote over the phone and change the pricing on me once they see where I live. Didn't try to upsell anything, didn't try to tell me why suddenly he has to increase his charges... Mark came to fix my Viking range because my oven was not heating up and the burners were not lighting consistently. He was able to diagnose the problem over the phone. The burners hadn't been lighting on their own since we got the range 12 years ago, but the service guy didn't do anything then and basically said there was nothing wrong with the burners so I never bothered having anyone come back (what was the point if they were just not going to do anything anyways?). Reluctantly, I had to have someone come back when the oven broke down too. Glad that I found Mark through reviews online. He showed me the broken parts and explained what was going on and now I finally have working burners!!! Unfortunately, I'm not in an area he usually services. Hopefully, he'll be willing to come back and fix other issues I might have in the future. He's worth the extra trip fee and I wouldn't hesitate to refer him to everyone I know. Tiffany, his office manager was also very professional. Responds in a timely manner, kept me updated on parts ordering, shipment and scheduling and was easy to communicate with. read more

Mark is pretty much a one-man show, so he seemed a little busy regarding setting up the appointment, but then everything was great. I'd texted him the details about our washer. He has a general idea of what the problem could be and brought a special part just in case. It turned out to be just what the washer needed. He was also contentious of price. Our washer is 10 years old and gets a LOT of use. The part it needed was only available used or for a ridiculous amount new. Apparently they're phasing out this model. He went with the used part, which worked perfectly, and guaranteed it for 90 days. During the service, he was polite, unobtrusive, funny, and patient with all my questions. He stayed until the washer had gone through a cycle, just to make sure. I would recommend him to anyone. read more

Mr. Wilkinson was able to schedule an appointment for me within two days of calling. He called to verify the day before and arrived in the designated time period. We discussed the issues with my washer and he quickly was able to diagnose several issues. He honestly told me that while it was a good machine, the cost to fix it was not worth it and I was better off buying a new/different washer, as he would not want to take my money in a situation like that. I appreciated Mr. Wilkinson's feedback and honesty with me. He could have fixed the machine and charged me the full cost, but he was not willing to do so, which shows the utmost integrity. I would refer anyone to use Mark Wilkinson's repair service. He has repaired a few appliances for us over the years, he is always prompt, fair, and reliable. He doesn't talk down to people that are not mechanically inclined, he takes time to to explain things and doesn't mind your asking questions. I have referred him to my parents, and they have always been pleased with his service and knowledge, as well. I didn't have a lot of extra cash on hand to leave him a nice tip, so I thought this would be a nice gesture. Company repair businesses seem to overcharge, or not be forthcoming about exactly what the problem is, Mark is honest, he will let you know what needs fixing, and if it is worthwhile to fix it, or just replace it. read more

We called Mr. Wilkinson to look at our refrigerator to figure out a problem with our refrigerator. He was able to check everything on the fridge even giving it a good cleaning underneath as well as checking all fans and motors. He arrived on time which is amazing considering it was the week after Christmas! Was quick and VERY reasonable. If you need an honest repairman that will fix the problem or tell you that he can't and that the appliance is beyond repair without trying to sell you things you don't need!!! From the initial phone call this was a pleasant experience. He tried to help my husband self diagnose the problem with our dishwasher over the phone (incase it was something we could fix ourselves), and most companies would never do that. After we decided that it may be to complicated for us we scheduled him for the following Monday. He said between 10am-12pm he would arrive. He arrived a few mins before 10 am, was very polite and professional. Had the problem fixed in well under an hour and was VERY reasonable! Called Mark out because our CO detector went off and the fire department identified the source as our oven. He was very professional and helpful in trying to identify what might have been the cause. Instead of just jumping into replacing expensive parts, he asked for us to try it out again and see if we could get the CO detector to go off again. He even explained to me how to clean the igniters on the stove to improve the time it takes to light them. We couldn't get our CO detector to go off again, but we'll be keeping a closer eye on it and Mark will be the first person we call if we have any appliance issues in the future! read more

Our GE washer continued to have a musty mildew smell even though we did everything in the manual to clean it out..to no avail. I Googled repair men and Mark came up. After a brief phone discussion he informed us of what hose to clean and where to buy the tablet. I contacted Mark when my other appliance repair guy retired. He was recommended by several people, and am so glad they did! Great, fast service. Called on 12/26 about a faulty oven and he got back to me within 2 hours. He was able to come by the next day. He came prepared, too - based on our conversation, he figured the ignitor was broken. He told us what the total bill would be right away and had already brought the ignitor with him.
