It's got a beach feel (no where near the water) and it's a little grungy; but the food it fabulous. There's a wait; but they're pretty quick turning tables so it's worth the wait. The ambiance is old beach house; and the clientele look like they've been eating head for decades. The food was good. I had the surf and terf with the blackened scallops. The steak was cooked to perfection medium rare, and the scallops were well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The sides were sweet potatoes (a little dry but tasty) and asparagus which was blanched well. My wife got the basket of fried shrimp. The hush puppies and fries were all tasty. And for desert we tried both options the key lime pie and the bourbon chocolate pecan pie. The key lime was bland (I prefer a tart key lime pie) but the chocolate pecan pie was phenomenal Our server was extremely friendly, bubbly, and attentive server. She was on top of everything and made great recommendations. The only thing I didn't care for was the beachside/dock-like look, feel, and smell. On a uncharacteristically warm Thursday in February, we ventured down the treacherous roads of Athens traffic to Marker 7 in hopes of a scrumptious dinner. And boy, did it deliver. Upon first walking in, things smelt a bit fishy (in a seafood way of course). The vibes were good, with the serene lull of Bob Dylan's voice flowing through the restaurant. We were seated inside and promptly handed a menu with an abundance of delicious options. We started with the fried green tomatoes, which were perfectly rotund and encased in a golden crust that would remind one of a coastal sunrise. Next was the burger with a side of fries and the basil poblano shrimp pesto with a side of sweet potatoes. The burger was okay for a seafood restaurant, but the perfectly seasoned fries were what really stole the show. The shrimp pesto was, in a word, spectacular! Each bite was packed with the perfect combination of decadent flavors, with the pesto not being too overpowering in combination with the shrimp. The sweet potatoes were especially crisp, with a smile-inducing hint of cinnamon. We would return for the food alone, despite the fact that we were stranded at sea by our lovely waiter. After sending out an SOS signal, he returned after 20 minutes with a buoy in hand (our checks) to rescue us. A sudden gust of wind blew a napkin onto the floor that we reached to clean up. This prompted our waiter to quickly let us know that the napkin was his job to clean up, with a wink and smile. Safe to say, we will be returning. read more

Came in a few weeks ago and it was very hot inside to start. There weren't many ppl in there, so we got seated right away. Had to wait 5-7 maybe more mins for someone to come to ask for our order, and as we waited, we were watching the staff all talking to each other behind an open door. We saw a guy come in from outside who came in right behind us and ask the bartender if someone would help them, as no one had come to get their order. (The guy was very polite about it) and the bartender went off on him saying he's been busy and so on and the customer said, ok when will someone take our order. The bartender proceeded to tell the guy he could just leave and the customer said my family and I want to eat. Bartender says well you and your family can leave. We were so applaud at the way the customer was treated, so we decided to just leave after seeing the way the bartender treated the guy. Decided to go back last weekend to give them an another chance and bc I REALLY love their food. Needless to say, the staff was in the back again talking and the bartender was hardly behind the bar helping anyone. I witnessed 2 customers leaving one bc they were being ignored and another bc he asked the bartender if he would change the channel on the tv and the bartender said no. We were in complete shock! Luckily we had gotten our food and were almost done eating after we saw that interaction and we left right after that. The food was AMAZING! Came as a first timer, and will be back.. in cooler weather. Ordered the tacos and my new favorite drink (Sangrita), which were both amazing. Our waiter was very nice, and the ambiance of the is cool little place was right up my alley. All of that was a little ruined by rushing through dinner/drinks because of the crazy high temp inside the restaurant. It was honestly cooler outside. I know this GA heat is no joke, and running a restaurant in a historic home isn't easy to regulate, BUT.. the sole tiny fan in the corner was pitiful. They really need to invest in ceiling fans, and have temporary floor fans around to help circulate what little AC they do have. I definitely recommend Marker 7, but would wait until fall. read more

What a delightful place to enjoy a night out with my favorite college girl. We sat upstairs and it was nice. My daughter ordered the shrimp pesto Alfredo and loved it. It was perfectly seasoned and the shrimp were large. I ordered the fried shrimp and asked for light breading. I received 10 large and fresh shrimp that were delicious. It came with two sides and I got Mac and cheese and roasted sweet potatoes. The Mac and cheese was cold and not my favorite but the sweet potatoes were very good. My daughter got French fries as a side and they were homemade, wonderfully seasoned and simply delicious. We really enjoyed this restaurant for it's clean, casual vibe and it's solid seafood. My boys enjoyed the grouper nuggets and lightly seasoned fries. I enjoyed a fruit mojito, a cup of their amazing crab tomato basil chowder and a decadent shrimp and grits with bacon, andouille sausage and brown sauce. The grits were so creamy that I could have mistaken them for mashed potatoes. My husband had the grilled snapper with a red pepper cream sauce and homemade hush puppies. We were full at the conclusion of the meal but really wanted to try the house-made chocolate bourbon pecan pie so we bought two pieces to go. The service was fast and very pleasant. For two children and two adults with dessert and drinks the bill came to about $100. We left very satisfied and happy to return. read more

We went to Marker 7 on a late Sunday afternoon in May 2024 for a birthday celebration dinner. Major Disappointment - the server took 20-minutes to ask if we wanted drinks - which came watered down or a very light pour. The salads were served in HOT bowls and the lettuce wilted before we finished eating. The seafood was a bad joke - the crab cakes tasted liked Stouffers stuffing and had zero recognizable crab meat, the boiled shrimp was overcooked, was rubbery and had virtually no flavor. A few years ago I had a delicious lunch at Marker 7. I appreciate that the restaurant is open and serving take out but I was disappointed with the food. I had the seafood platter. my sister, the crabcakes. Everything was over salted. My ftied oysters were salty but okay. I asked for grouper but what I got was some kind of flat filet,certainly not grouper! My sister's crabcakes were mostly breading and too salty. We felt comfortable that all staff were wearing masks and that they had guidelines displayed at the hostess stand for all parties during the covid pandemic. The menu isn't too big (which is a good thing in my opinion). My husband and I both ordered a pick 2 platter which comes with your choice of oysters, shrimp, grouper, calamari, claim strips or artichoke and 2 sides for $19 each. Our meals were brought out to us hot and tasty. We don't typically go for much fried foods, but we make exceptions and this was the place to do it!
