I like the looks of this store and their pre cooked items are mostly good. They have a little self serve section which every time I've been in there looks really dried out an old. One night I was really craving something from a bakery, so I went there and picked up peanut butter cookies which were excellent. The next time I went I decided to try a pie and bought one of their small banana cream pies. It was absolutely horrible. The crust was so thick and hard. I eventually just scooped out the inside and ate the filling with a spoon. I would not recommend any of their pies. read more

Honestly love the produce here but I bought ground beef the other day that was 2 days before it's Best Buy date and it went bad. It looked fine, but it smelled quite sour. I ended up cooking it anyway and the smell was gone when it finished cooking so I assumed it was okay to eat. I woke up the next day with really bad stomach pain and digestive issues. We come here everytime we visit the area and this visit was no exception. They have a lot of local items. Their bakery and deli have high quality items. Their beer and wine selction are quite large. We primarily focus on their produce, deli, bakery, beer and wine. They may be a little more expensive than other grocery stores in the area but they have many more good options. read more

I bought a Yule Log from the Delta Market of Choice for Christmas and it was the biggest disappointment I have had in a long time. The icing was overwhelming and the cake was close to nonexistent. The icing was very fuggy and very thick. This is one cake I won't never, never order again! read more

The Market of Choice Bakery is always my go-to, but they went above and beyond this time. My daughter's birthday is always on or around Thanksgiving, and this year was harder to arrange than usual. The first place we tried to reserve cancelled on us (after we already sent out invitations.) The second place we reserved for a party took the reservation, and I even called one day before to confirm, but when we got there, no decorations, nothing set up as ordered, and no apology. I had ordered a cake and a bounty board of treats from the Market of Choice Bakery, to bring to the party at the second place, a week early. Even though I ordered ahead and had two verification emails, when I arrived for pick up, they had no record of my order. Needless to say by this point I was just so disappointed. Nothing was working out for my daughter's party at all. They apologized sincerely, and while I waited, they put together a selection of treats and a cake for me. Then, to my gratitude and surprise they did not charge me for my order. It was deeply appreciated, and a bright spot in my week. They told me they couldn't do ocean themed cupcakes and wouldn't give me other options? The "head" baker had a horrible attitude and i'm not sure why I couldn't be helped? Stopped in on July 3rd at 7:30 pm at store located on 1060 Green Acres Rd. I hadn't been in this store for awhile; mostly because their prices are on the higher side. I thought I'd give them another try since I needed a few things for a holiday picnic. What a big mistake! We were especially interested in trying their cold salads. Yes, they were pricey: 1/2 lb Cole slaw was $5.75; 1 lb macaroni salad was $6.92; and 1 lb of potato salad was a whopping $8.99. A grand total of $21.66 for these 3 salads. Wow! The prices wouldn't be so bad if these salads had flavor. The flavor was not only nonexistent, but they all tasted the same. None of us 4 people could distinguish one salad from the other. And, Market of Choice will most surely say these salads are " homemade. " Guess what, MOC, get another cook. The salads I usually buy (brand name Reser's) at Fred Meyer are 1000% better, and they're not homemade. It used to be you get what you pay for, but not at MOC. We only bought what I thought were a few items and the bill was $117. We came out saying what the heck did we buy? Never again! I'll keep going to Fred Meyer. Oh, and FYI. The cashier, STACY H, is very unfriendly. She didn't greet us, say thank you, or even thank us for bagging. She is a miserable old lady who should not be working for the public. She was talking to the people before us though. MOC, send her back for customer service training or get rid of her. She is not an asset to your store. I sincerely hope you take this review seriously. Even with changes to the deli (COVID-19 safety) can still get their delicious soups and sandwiches prepackaged. The bakery is my favorite, so many delicious items and seasonally decorated too! I was behind another worker, and the person who ringed me up was an elder lady named Vickie. She was chatting with the worker, and had a bit of an attitude. I pushed my cart up, and instead of saying hi or hello, it was 'You're going to bag your own groceries.' I said 'thats fine, I can do that. How are you doing?' She said 'beg pardon?' I asked her again, she said 'I should have stayed at home in bed.' She told me my total and crosses her arms until I finished bagging. Won't be going again. read more

I came in here with my husband last week because they had a fantastic sale on eggs. I was in the area, so this was perfect. I subsequently found a few other things I needed. I am not familiar with this store's layout, so it wasn't a quick trip. Not a huge deal, as I had time. It's one of those times where you have to walk around and really search for things. My husband had to ask where one item was. The part of the store that gets 5 stars was the bakery. I found this absolutely fantastic rosemary bread. I can't remember if it had garlic in it or not. Somehow, I feel like it did, but I wouldn't swear to it. Anyway, I found the loaf I wanted, but it wasn't sliced. So I went to ask if they would do that for me. The woman I talked to in the bakery (I don't know her name) was more than happy to do it. She asked that we give her a couple minutes to do it. My husband wanted to stand there and wait, which looked like it made her a little nervous. I said, let's go finish shopping and we can come back. She said that was perfect, as it might take her longer than the average bakery employee because she had literally only used the slicer twice. I have no problem with that. I like honesty, and I didn't want to pressure her by watching her every move. So off we went. The things I don't like about the store are they don't seem to carry the brand of essential oil I typically would buy in here. This was previously my go-to place for that. I'm annoyed because I needed peppermint oil because I had a headache. My other big complaint is the smell of the butcher area. I absolutely hate the overwhelming fish smell, as it nauseates me. Given I had a headache, this was exacerbated. So now I literally want to throw up in the store, and I almost did, which of course, I had to walk by more than once as I was trying to find something. The employees in here are what really stand out. The bakery employee was amazing at customer service and happy to help. The cashier was friendly and helpful. She bagged my groceries (I forgot the stupid Eugene law of having to pay for bags because I forgot my reusable one) and managed to fit it all in one bag. So basically between the good and the bad points of the store, it averages out to four stars. Would I return? Yes, they have some fantastic sales on eggs, milk, and ice cream. They carry my favorite brand of milk. That's a big deal, because I have to go to certain stores to get it. So I appreciate that part, and it's probably what brings me into the store the most. It's extremely overpriced for the exact same items you could get a a cheaper supermarket, just in a fancier package. The staff are usually nice enough and it's clean, but $2.50 for one cupcake at a supermarket? Get out of here. Still, it's hard to deny that the pizza department at this Market of Choice is absolutely off the chain. They have, legitimately, some of the best pizza I've ever eaten. Kudos to the pizza chefs, they're insanely good. I've gone to the other MoC locations and the pizza is by far the best at this location. I don't shop at MOC much because it is not very convenient for me, but when I do I sure can spend a lot of time, or money here. What they have here you know you are getting quality ingredients. I have gone here for years to order Birthday cakes, or cakes for special occasions because I know I am going to get something that tastes good, and is made to my specifications. Their deli is one of the best around because they don't have the typical premade junk that you would find at Albertson's, or anywhere else. It looks like you are at a pot luck, and someone worked hard at making these dishes for a BBQ. In fact I like stopping here before some of our BBQ's to get a side, or if I want a nice little snack to take on the river with us during our summer floats. I generally don't like sushi from a grocery store, but I have tried it from here and it is not too bad. I would pick it up again if I saw it and was in the mood. The selection they have of beer you can't beat, because you know if you can't find it any where else MOC usually has it. I recently ran out of my local honey from the local farms I usually go to, they are not open quite yet. I knew I could rely on MOC for having just that. They have quite the selection. I try to use the local honey to keep my allergies at bay. They are at high gear right now. They produce section is one of the best in town. They have a great selection of organic fruits, and vegetables. I stopped in the other day so I could get fresh ingredients to make a BLTA, lime chicken salad. It was one of the best salads I had made because the produce being so fresh. I was raised on a produce farm North of Salem, so it is very important to me where I chose to get my produce, and how fresh they are. I appreciate the taste so much more when it can taste like you just picked everything yourself. Especially tomatoes. I hate buying those, and they have no flavor. Not here. At least the ones I picked out. The butcher block has a great selection of meat. It has been a while since I have picked some up from here because of pricing, but what I remember is the meat was wonderful. I am very picky about where I buy my meat. read more

I'm new to this area, but if you are familiar with Whole Foods or Eartfate they are pretty similar. Nicely decorated, nice displays with a focus on organic, fresh and minimum pesticides. I love Market of Choice. This review is specific to the bakery. I pre-ordered very specific cupcakes for a baby shower. I normally only use Sweet Life, just because their quality is impeccable and I'm never disappointed. Their prices are a little higher than MoC, but I trust them. The mother-to-be asked me to use MoC bakery for her shower. I gave them a photo of exactly what I wanted. They charged me $4.00 a cupcake, which I thought was reasonable for the detail. The day I picked them up I was shocked by the poor quality of the decoration. I calmly discussed with the decorator and I was graciously given a deep discount. I will say, they were very fair. Unfortunately, the cupcakes I served to guest were sub-par and most people thought I had decorated them because of amateur look. I will continue to use Sweet Life for my fancy cake needs. Sorry MoC. Im a fan of Market of Choice as far as convenience goes, but you pay for it. This place is a bit more spendy than Albertson's or Safeway. On the other hand, MOC has a kick ass beer selection. From local micros, to german imports. They dont have much for a "bitch beer" selection though...as in the mike's hard mangos etc...I know this because when I go down to pick a random beer, there's nothing I can get my wife that she likes. Perhaps a fruity cider next time? The bakery is insane....lots of breads and goodies...yet this is where I notice the high prices....here and the deli. They make some twice baked potatoes that from what I understand are DELICIOUS, but run about $6 a pop. DAAAAMN!! The pizza they serve up is DAMN GOOD PIZZA. I love MOC pizza. I am probably the FURTHEST thing from a Vegetarian. I love meat...meat loves me. BUT they have a vegetarian pizza that is Mushroom, Spinach and Gorgonzola. FREAKING AWESOME. It's a thin crust pizza and you can buy a single slice for about $3. I think it's $20 a large pie. They do make other pizzas, and all that i've tried have been really good. A big plus i do like about the place though is the produce is always great! They have conventional and organic produce. Nothing worse than picking up a tomato and finding that nasty bruised bottom with mold on it....*Cough*safeway*cough*.... Produce and pizza earns MOC the 4th star. read more

This review is for the bakery, which made the cake for our wedding. I've long thought Market of Choice has the best cakes in town. So when it came time to pick a bakery for our wedding, they were at the top of our list. I briefly reconsidered after learning they charge $100 for deliveries in city limits, but Sweet Life didn't return my call. So MOC it was. When I booked the consultation I selected four flavor combinations that my now-husband and I wanted to try. They were so delicious! We went through the design book and picked the design we liked best. The consultant told us to not worry about having the cake delivered; ours was only two tiers, and he said very few customers have ever had a problem transporting their cake themselves. That sold us. So we booked the cake--chocolate with chocolate cream cheese filling for the bottom tier, and white with mocha filling for the top tier. We picked up the cake the day before the wedding. It was absolutely gorgeous. It traveled quite easily to my in-laws' house (MOC provided us with a box), and we kept it in a fridge until just before the wedding started. It was a beautiful focal point at the reception, and it was SO delicious. Everyone was raving about the cake at the wedding, and my stepson had three huge slices that night. No one could believe the cake came from a grocery store, and while I may be biased, I do believe it's the best cake I've ever eaten at a wedding. Other than the excessively high delivery fee, I was extremely pleased with MOC for our wedding cake and would recommend them to anyone looking for a beautiful and delicious cake. read more

Writing this review of the KN95 masks that I saw for sale at Market of Choice today. Upon investigation it appears that these masks, manufactured by aab.com in China, were withdrawn from being approved by the FDA on May 7, 2020, probably for not performing up to standard. I'm basing this review primarily on the bakery. When discussing cake options with the bakery, I was told when I was ready to finalize the order, I could taste some of the options to make my determination on what I wanted. When I went to finalize my order, they didn't have anything available to taste. If it was a wedding, I would have been a bit more irritated, but it was a birthday, so I was a little more forgiving. I picked up the cake yesterday, and had high expectations. It didn't look exactly like the photo I had shown them, but I think the staff did a good job, especially since I wanted buttercream, not fondant as was used in the photo I had, and I was pleased with how it turned out. I don't care for frosting much, but I have some frosting lovers in my life. The buttercream tasted good, and they don't skimp on the butter. There was so much frosting, even the frosting lovers couldn't finish it. I think next time, I'll ask for half the frosting. The cake was delicious. Light, moist, flavorful. The mocha mousse filling was divine. I've had cakes from very upscale bakeries-Places where I couldn't get an 8 inch round cake for what I paid for this cake. And this cake was every bit as good as those fancy bakeries. Better than some in fact. Weddings, birthdays, other gatherings- definitely consider Market of Choice as your bakery. For the store in general- prices run a little high, but they have a great selection outside of the bakery too. I don't do all my shopping here, but will pick up special occasion treats, organic items, specialty coffees, or other items you can't get at every store. read more

I love the bakery here! They sell just about everything and it's great qaulity. They sell there cakes in individual slices as well as whole cakes. It's perfect for grabbing a quick dessert for one, or I guess two if you feel like sharing. I never do. This morning I got a yummy lemon bar along with a mocha. The coffee stand uses Stumptown Coffee which is on par with the other popular Oregon beans. There is also a great salad bar, olive bar, deli, and large prepared food section with hot and cold foods. I really like the cold items like prepared meatloaf or chicken parmesan because you can buy them ahead of time and toss them in the oven right before dinner. It's like a TV dinner but much tastier and you could probably convince your guests that you made it from scratch. read more

I have been shopping here for over 10 years. The produce is really good. The salad bar and soup bar are great. Wide selection of Organic Foods, Vegan food and frozen food. My one complaint is that some of the staff there are snooty and rude. They think that they are in an exclusive club and that they are better than the customers. Alisha in the health section used to be nice but now she is a snooty, unfriendly and thinks she is too good to talk to people that she used to be friendly to. I can't stand her and wish they would move her to the back room or another store. Unfriendly, unhelpful and walks away from you when you try to ask for help. Five stars for the pizza kitchen, which produces results nothing short of gourmet, and at low prices. Check out the menu online. Yum! The cheesy breadsticks with marinara for $5.99 are the delicious deal of the century; it's essentially a thick-crust, no sauce pizza with a TON of cheese. If you're getting your $5 cheese pizza at Little Caesar's around back, you are missing out on a gem. Five stars for the bakery, especially its cakes. This is our go-to place for birthdays. Cakes are better quality than anywhere else in town, even the fancy/expensive bakeries. Best white cake on the planet. Cookies, cupcakes, and scones are great too but priced too high to buy unless it's a special occasion. Five stars for the bulk food section, which has a fantastic selection at good prices and is THE place to go when you need a ton of organic oatmeal or a teaspoon of that oddball spice. I do a lot of shopping here, mostly out of convenience and because the quality/selection of the food is far superior to what you'll find at most supermarkets. I generally prefer some of the smaller markets in town, but they're a hike and MoC is good enough. The produce selection is good compared to what you'll find at Safeway and Albertsons, but it's not the best you can find in Eugene (go to Sundance or The Kiva). They have an expansive bulk foods section that includes a decent selection of spices along with honey/syrup/peanut butter/etc. The meat selection is, IMHO, less-than-stellar but it should meat your needs. They've got a great selection of wine/beer, bread, cheese, and coffee, which is probably where I spend the most of my money on there. And spend money is what you do shopping there- it's not cheap. I'd suggest you shop at the smaller markets I mentioned if you're mostly interested in quality produce are willing to sacrifice some selection (mostly processed foods) and *maybe* pay a little more. read more
