Great little breakfast spot! Convenient parking. Got right in on a Sunday morning. So many things to chose from on the menu. Got the basics.... So much food! I was able to take some home. Apparently it's a chain with multiple locations around the greater Detroit area. If I lived nearly I'd be back for sure.

First time trying this location First Watch and the food absolutely lived up to the hype. The blueberry lemon cornbread was SO good, and the chimichurri steak & egg hash was amazing the flavors were honestly hard to describe. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and worth the wait. The service, however, was a little lacking. Our server forgot several items we requested, and we ended up having to ask other staff members for help and even for our bill. That being said, it was a busy Saturday morning, and the restaurant was packed, so I do want to give some grace there. The restaurant itself is very spacious with plenty of seating and a nice breakfast bar area. It's clearly a popular spot since there was about a 30-minute wait before we were seated. Overall, I'd definitely come back because the food was just that good.

Liya was Excellent. She Welcomed us and continued to confirm when We were ready to order. She shared the Winter Menu with us. As stated a few months ago First Watch is not skimpy on portions. There were 2 of us. We ordered 1 Breakfast meal and 1 pancake and yes still had to get a takeaway box. I pulled the Healthy Salt and Pepper before the plate came. There was Absolutely no need for it. BTW if You desire a fresh healthier cream for Your coffee. Just ask and half & half will be brought right out

The service at this location is always amazing- this is my fave FW But this review is for the holiday menu: do not miss the Tangerine Dream! (See pic) I'm a kale tonic gal but the seasonal tangerine is like an orange sherbet and worth the splurge

Our first visit to this location. Surprisingly the wait time was minimal. Unlike past experiences at other locations, this server did not introduce herself nor was very forthcoming to personally check/ask the kitchen/chef about requested food accommodation. She pointed out the restaurant does provide a nutritional and allergen menu WR code. However, the food allergen menu is no longer in a chart format with the 9 major food allergens. Each item only lists contained food allergens. The server told me their bread contains Sesame. But when checking the allergen menu, it did not list Sesame under the foods with bread/toast. The customer seated after we had ordered our food was served their food before us. Our food /sunny side up eggs were overcooked either on the grill or from being under the warmer lights too long. The wrap and potatoes were tasty. I would order this again. This location was extremely loud and noisy because of the high ceiling. I hope it's better if we visit again.

I love First Watch & have been here and other locations. While waiting, I removed bacon crumbs from my table then opened my napkin to find food stuck to my new place setting. I was kinda grossed out so decided to leave but asked for manager on way out to let her know I ordered but I'm not staying because of that. She said "okay." No apologies, no nothing. Her attitude change would have prevented me writing, still ewh ...

This place is adorable and has amazing service. For how busy they were I felt I was still taken care of quickly and efficiently. And the food is amazing! If you're fresh out of the hospital, or looking for a good brunch spot, give this place a try.

Friendly Staff fast service and great bacon !! I asked the server her recommendation and she gave me an honest opinion and I went it and I wasn't mad about it!! I will definitely return!

Large inside with many tables for Seating. Seated right away for lunch. The waitress was super friendly. I got the half ham and gruyere cheese and tomato basil soup. The soup needed croutons and parmesan cheese. It came with two packages of saltine crackers. The bread for the sandwich was outstanding and the mustrd saice rhe best part. The breakfast tacos on their holiday menu sounded amazing. I definitely want to go back for those. It was quite chilly. Wish i had worn a heavier sweater. Wrapped my jacket around me to stay warm. Tip: you pay at the counter up front.

Didn't know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised by First Watch. Simple layout and design, great staff and the wait is never too long. I wouldn't say the food blows you away, but definitely an above average breakfast spot for me. I stick with the Farm House Skillet w/ Turkey Sausage, Belgian Waffle and the Watermelon Refresher or Purple Haze. Very good.

I came here many weekends last year because I loved the food and service. Sadly, after today's experience, I will not be returning. Neither will my friend, who, after eating her club sandwich, put a forkful of salad to her mouth, only to find a maggot crawling from it! This instantly killed our appetites. We had already overlooked things such as the outside of the dishes being dirty, as if someone had put vodka sauce on their hands before handling them and didn't wipe it off. The color didn't match any of the ingredients in our dish. The portions were smaller, the bartender gave us a hard time when we tried to order a drink while we waited, and the service was not as good as I remember. But a maggot?! These are grounds to call the Department of Health on them! Who wants to leave a dining experience feeling squeamish? We both questioned whether or not we had unknowingly eaten some. It was repulsive. I needed to take a nap and restart the day. You get the picture. Buyer beware!

The seasonal menu item - The B.E.C. The bacon egg and cheese sandwich. What is amazing about this sandwich is that it comes with Calabrian chilies, chili oil and arugula! It's so good

    Where are all the locations?

There are many, we normally go to the one on 13 and woodward, but there is also one on big beaver and one at 14 and coolige I think.

    Best time to go?

Honestly, it really depends. I've had shorter waits at certain ones. You can always add your name to the waitlist before you go.

The people working here were so friendly and personable with literally everyone that walked in the door. The service was top notch. It is also the most adorable place giving vibes of Lamy's food counter at Henry Ford Museum. I loved all of the options on the menu and it was so hard just picking a couple items to try. We had chicken tacos. They were so good and so fresh, I loved the sauce on top. Honestly, I am not sure if it was cheese or a sour cream type mixture, but it was creamy and flavorful. I also had the torta which was absolutely incredible. It had the same chicken as the taco. The chicken was slow cooked or stewed and shredded and was so flavorful, like a homecooked chef's kiss. The bread was fresh. I loved the sauce poured over it, making it a dipped and soaked sandwich. The carrots and cilantro, sliced radishes and sliced fresh jalapenos added a level of crunch, freshness and deeper flavor profile. I would want to get this every time. We also tried their delicious "curly" fries, which were like julienned shoestring fries fired fresh. It seemed like every dish was made fresh and right in front of you. So worth it, plus the prices are great. I would love to try their fried chicken plate, their breakfast sandwiches, and their other desserts. We talked to the man behind the counter who seemed like maybe a manager. He gave us their famous chocolate chip cookie to try. It was fresh baked and delicious. I would love to take home more of those. It looked so simple but was better than many bakeries specializing in cookies alone. He also gave us an second order of fries to take home with my leftovers, just top notch kindness and service. This man told us that OWL owns other restaurants and we would probably like them. I am open to trying more of their group but I do want to return here. This is one of those diners you would find being profiled for best kept secret or gourmet home cooked foods under the guise of fast food.

The city was bustling with people, and I was pleasantly surprised by how gorgeous the downtown area was. The café had a vibrant, energetic atmosphere that perfectly matched the excitement of the city. Our server was absolutely amazing and made excellent recommendations. The portions were generous, and the food was delicious. Based on the recommendation, I ordered the corned beef hash with the cinnamon pancakes, and both were fantastic. Next time, I definitely want to try the red velvet pancakes! My friend ordered the Triple Triple Omelette with the original buttermilk pancakes, and we both chose the cheesy grits. The cheesy grits were very creamy, though I would recommend adding a little more butter to enhance the flavor. That was really my only critique. The restaurant was busy, but after dining there, I completely understand why. Despite the crowd, we were greeted immediately, and the service was prompt throughout our visit. I appreciate they have espresso drinks, and ordered the chai latte but it was a little too sweet for me - I'd go with a plain latte next time. I also think I may have ordered the wrong dish because my mom got an omelette with pancakes on the side and enjoyed it. I gambled with the huevos rancheros but they were just ok. I wish the potatoes were more seasoned. You definitely get a huge portion for whatever you order so expect to split with someone or have leftovers. All in all, a solid brunch spot but not a favorite.

I used to live nearby about 25 years ago and remember coming to a diner in this area for breakfast back then. Fast forward to today--this isn't the same place, but wow, it's absolutely amazing. Right away I loved the vibe. The chalkboards with handwritten menu items and daily specials on the walls give the place so much character and charm. It feels welcoming, classic, and cool all at the same time. The customer service was excellent from start to finish--friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. I ordered the country breakfast, which came with biscuits and gravy, eggs, toast, potatoes, and sausage--everything was spot on. I'm usually not a big hash browns person, so I really appreciated that they offer an alternative to the shredded style. I went with the cubed breakfast potatoes (not sure what they officially call them), and they were so much better--crispy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Between the food, the service, and the overall atmosphere, this place completely won me over. I already know I'll be back next weekend. Oak Diner has a really, really good vibe, and I'm glad I rediscovered breakfast here. Highly recommend.
