My wife and I like to drive around while the weather is nice and hit all different kinds of food establishments. We recently decided to explore Germantown and we stopped at Mario's Pizza for a cheese, mushroom, and sausage pizza. We've heard about this place for many years and decided to finally give it a try. My wife went in to order the pizza and two drinks and was told that it will be ready in 20 minutes. 37 minutes later we got our pizza and two drinks. I was extremely hungry and decided to try it in the car, rather than waiting to go to a park or another place to park. The pizza was awful. I have actually invested in a New York pizza restaurant and know good pizza. This is not that. To pick it apart for you, understanding that taste varies among eaters, I will tell you that the crust is dry, flavorless, and essentially becomes a cracker when cooked. I like thin crust, pizza, and I've had many crisp crusts that were good and excellent (Zaffiros on Farwell being a benchmark). This is really not good. The sauce was extremely bland. I like playing sauce, but this was flavorless as if there were no spices in it of any kind. The cheese is good. It's a stringy mozzarella. that is the saving grace of the pizza itself. The mushrooms were flavorless, unseasoned, and dry. The sausage was abysmal. So salty, so inconsistent in size of pieces, and way over spiced. I'm afraid this one is a miss. Always looking for a new fun pizza place to try. Decided to do pick up and when we got there they said they accidentally burnt our pizza. so we got a free upgrade to a large which was really nice for the trouble. It took a little longer to wait for a new pizza but it was worth the wait! The crust was light and crispy, not dry or soggy. Toppings were fresh and plentiful. Ok, I have been meaning to write a review of this place for the longest time. So for starters you should know me and my coworkers have a strong love for lunch buffets...specifically on Friday's when we know there's not a lot to get done in the afternoon and we can get away with nursing a food coma. After we tried literally every Chinese buffet in a ten mile radius we moved on to pizza buffets..turns out our first and last stop was Marko's! The lunch buffet alone will run you somewhere between $7-$8 a person, this includes broasted chicken, salad bar, and really solid pizza. In addition to the pizza/chicken buffet you can also add a basket of shrimp and fries or fried cod and french fries for $1.99....which is also all you can eat!!! Literally a ton of food and they are really good about keeping up the pizza and chicken during lunch when it gets busy. We're usually a group of 7-8 so I call 30 minutes before we leave and give them a heads up. The lady working there..maybe owner/manager..very nice and always has a couple tables put together for us. So..great experience with the lunch buffet, but I've also gotten takeout from here and it was also a great value. Was randomly craving a meatball sandwich a couple nights ago so started looking up Italian restaurants in the area and of course Marko's came up in suggestions. Meatball sandwich on a huge half a french loaf with fries turned out to be just what I was looking for! AND still only priced at $5.50!!! Only complaint I would have is the meatball sub was like SO salty. I think I guzzled my 32 oz water bottle in a few sips after eating that. Pizza was 4-stars, very good, tasty thin crust, flavorful sauce, good topping ratio (we had a cheese, sausage, mushroom and onion) but the execution of the order a 1-star. Ordered pickup and was told 25-30 minutes, got there 25min later and the girl gave me the, "we forgot to make it" look, with the "we just got slammed" explanation and said it would be a few minutes later. 25-30 minutes later I had my 4-star pizza...hoping that was a fluke, will try again down the road, having just moved to Germantown need to find our go-to pizza place. read more

Well, if you come here for the pizza, make sure you have the bottom cooked through. We went for the lunch buffet and I have to say, it is quiet a small buffet. If you come here with 20 people, expect a lot of waiting. There were only two people who were out and doing all the work. I only had the salad bar an it was meh at best. The chicken was but in a dish and left there to stand. After us about 10 folks came in and it was al gone within a few seconds. Refills took quite a while (if ever) I suggest to go someplace else for a pizza buffet (Pizza Hut in Menomonee Falls) or a salad bar. Horrible service. I ordered a pizza an hour and a half ahead while coming home from Waupaca. upon arrival (on time) the pizza was not ready. There were only two other people in the restaurant. I was told the pizza would be out in a few minutes. I waited a half hour for the pizza, with a number of excuses and no real apology. Obviously the pizza had not even been started. I emailed the management and got no response. I these days of covid I would think restaurants would be appreciated of the business they get. Apparently not. read more

I had placed an order over the phone for fish(perch). When I got home, they had given me the wrong type of fish(cod). I called the restaurant to tell them and the person who answered argued with me that I ordered the fish that I got. I told them that I didn't eat that kind of fish. They then asked if I wanted to drive back to the restaurant, a 30 minute drive to get the proper type of fish. After I told him that we were not driving up there they offered to drop off the perch at the house. This is a review that covers the last 2 months. I have been ordering from them for over 20 years since I moved to Germantown. The quality dipped around a year or two ago on the pizzas, something, maybe the crust was just not the same. In the last couple months I have to say they have fixed all the issues that made me rethink ordering from them, and I love this place again. I ordered a pizza for carryout last week and noticed the cheeses was better and the crust was perfect. We ate a 17" inch pizza between 3 of us as we could stop eating it! I just finished a chicken and fish order we had delivered for the 2nd time in a week, and My wife and I can't be happier. Yum! I decided on this last minute because I really didn't want to cook. I was also seriously hungry for thin crust pizza. I ordered an extra large (we need leftovers for lunches) thin crust cheese, mushroom, sausage pizza. I'm a little leery about ordering sausage from a place that's new to me. It was perfect. Nice and mild. Not overpowering with fennel, which I don't like. The crust was just the right thickness and crispness. Mushrooms were not over cooked or mushy! I've found a new pizza place! Really Bad.... I was visiting the area and stopped here for a quick dinner. Good thing I wasn't very hungry....the food was horrible and almost inedible. I thought I couldn't go wrong with a sampler platter. I was wrong.....over cooked and some pieces were actually burnt. Very heavy batter and I honestly I wasn't even sure what some of the pieces were. The outside was very dark but the inside wasn't hot. Needless to say I was disappointed and left most of it behind. Ok, I know what you are thinking - why am I giving this "dive" pizza joint a 4 star rating. This place is cramped with somewhat uncomfortable chairs and old tables and chintzy decor. But, their pizza, fish and chicken are fantastic, prices are low and try their all you can eat Friday night pizza/chicken/fish/french fry special and you will walk away (if you can still walk) with an understanding of good food at a good value. Really good wait staff - generally high school students who are supervised by the owner. I have been here many many times and have never been disappointed. Good carry out with lots of coupons available - if you don't have a coupon for carry out - ask and they will give you one (seriously). While their decor is not upscale and it is a pizza joint, they are genuinely nice people trying very hard to make you happy. read more

We've been trying to find decent pizza in the Menomonee Falls area, so we tried Marko's Pizza. It's "meh." We decided to eat there -- if we do go back, we'll never eat in again (get takeout!). It was pretty sad inside -- straight out of the early 1980s, with faux leather booths and horribly awkward tables/ chairs that were probably from the thrift store... Beer selection wasn't interesting (the best beer was Killian's Red) and no wine or spirits. The pizza itself was OK -- the sauce and cheese are flavorful and authentic tasting, but their "thin crust" is almost cracker like (flaky like a cracker too). I'm pretty positive the crust isn't homemade -- but the sauce and cheese were actually decent, which is why I decided to give a review. If you've got no other alternatives, I recommend a visit. We're going to try a couple other local spots before we return here. read more

The pizza was pretty good but the service was horrendous!! We had two pizzas delivered to a small party. One of the pizzas was smaller than what was ordered. When this was pointed out to the delivery driver, he stated that if we ordered and paid for a new pizza that he wouldn't charge us for delivery (gee...thanks). Upon getting the pizza inside, we also noticed that it had the wrong toppings. We called and they said that they would send a new pizza in 20 minutes. Not wanting to be rude to our guests or eat a cold pizza if we waited for the correct one, we did start to eat the pizzas. First this place changed owners in the past year or so and now has a bar. Also more seating. Yet still cramped. The rating is 3 because the pizza is still very good and now you only need 10 purchased pizza coupons for a free pizza rather than 25. However, the new Sunday "brunch" really dragged down the rating. Logistics. That's the big issue. "Brunch Buffet" didn't start until 11. Set up was in a corner of backroom whole main bar area with high tables was mostly empty. Line was set up going dangerously near a table such that a family left due to space issues. And the buffet ends at a corner wall. You had to double back! Two divided containers with eggs waffles and dense pancakes in one side. Store bought sausage in the other. Bacon was nearly uncooked and kid pushed it in with his bare hand. Pass. Syrup and ketchup was in the middle. Breasted chicken on the end. When opening the lid, there's no place to set it save on the top of other container meaning only one person can get food at a time. The rest had to wait until they doubled back. No space. At least move out the table that's there. It's just a couple inches away. Food was often empty. Salad was bagged iceberg with cold German potato salad(?) and some pale tomato. Nothing noteworthy. Drinks came after we were done with our first round. We didn't even have water. Understaffed. Overcrowded. If you're doing brunch 11-2, just call it lunch, raise the price and stick with pizza, chicken and salad bar with more options. Like Shakey's used to have. Otherwise, at brunch, add some pastries or cookies to add variety and fill in a bit so hot items aren't always empty. The price was good, but the offerings weren't really healthy or very tasty. Marko's has been the fail-safe for myself when I need an All You Can Eat made-to-order pizza, broasted chicken with steak fries, garlic bread and salad bar for $7.75 (that's right $7.75 as of 03/11/2013) Love the pizza crust, cheese is pretty good grade and sauce is balanced. The dining room has received a fresh coat of paint and most of the plastic covered booths are gone. I don't think one can find a better value for feeding a hungry group. read more

Stopped into Marko's today for the lunch buffet for the second time since they changed hands and was very let down again!! First i was asked for my drink order before i even sat down at a table and i was also given my bill before i even got any food or my drink! Then there was only one slice of pizza and maybe 3 pieces of chicken and a few cold pieces of potatoes. When i asked how long it would be before more would be made i was told it would be a short wait, and that was after already waiting for 15 minutes, then after about another 20 minutes i gave up and left! Okay, I'm kind of with Craig H. on this one, why am I Yelping about a little place like Marko's but it's a place where the food is always good, the prices are right (plenty of coupons, just ask) and of all the places around here, I would support this locally owned, small business in a heart beat. The staff is young, but responsible, they have incredibly good chicken and fish, and fantastic pizza, loaded with just about anything you could want on a pizza. Terrible. Used to be good but the wait staff was to say the least very inept, non existent Etc. Old owners were awesome, fish was great and so was the food. New ownership remodeled and jacked up the prices for carry out and cut out the all you can eat fish for dine in. Three small pieces and charge a buck and a half for an extra piece. What the hell is going on here with the Wisconsin traditional all you can eat fish fry. Not going back and the reputation the old owners had established has gone by the wayside. Food is pretty good but it's not very clean, the plates were on the table already and had dust or something on them and butter. Service was not very good either he just walked up to our table and said "do you need menus?" We didn't get a welcome or anything or an introduction like "my name is..." This place is very unique. I love the atmosphere . When people travel they look for places like Marko's home cooking and unique 1980s, setting. The pizza is the best I travel miles to get this pizza the only pizza I will eat. The crust is the best - just the right amount of sauce- cheese and toppings ordered. If I end up with any other pizza the crust goes in the garbage. There is so much sauce that the topping slide off the pizza. Now that is a waste. read more

Bad customer service. Left them a 1 star review for an online order i placed that never showed. The next day a delivery driver shows up unannounced with a pizza he told me i had to pay for. I declined. A week later i get harrassing messages on facebook for my review telling me i should be appreciative of an offer to pay for my dinner( the unorded pizza). The re-model made the eating area even more cramped. Nice tables now and you can watch the games on 5 Large flat screen TV's which is most likely why the prices went up. The added bar area is nice for waiting for your food so long they don't give your order to someone else or forget to even begin to make it if you called it in, don't be surprised if you get there and have to wait another 15 - 20 mins. My biggest issue was with all their updates why is the credit card machine still out of customer view? With a new register why didn't they get it where the card swipe remained in the customers view? Took my card walked away and 10 min. later came back, signed and they left it sitting on the bar. Not a good feeling. Food is good don't get me wrong.. The perch is excellent. Don't look at the rooms - it is the food and the people that count. Great service and the pizza, chicken and fish are excellent. I usually have it delivered. The delivery person is always pleasant and curteous. Delivery is always within the hour but most often much less. Prices are excellent. It is good value for your dollar. read more

We used to get pizza from Markos all the time. We strayed and found a local place that was terrific at first but then they consistently disappointed us. We went back to Markos last week and had the BEST pizza we've ever had. Loaded with our favorite toppings in the perfect ratios. We love their freshly rolled crusts. To the reviewer who thought they were store bought, go back there and stand at the pick-up window. You can watch them roll the crusts out. We have given up hope on the other place. Worst place ever to go for a good pizza and apps!! Three times and today is the Very Last time my husband and I will be ordering from them!!! 3!!! - Times!!! It's not that hard to make a pizza or use a deep fryer to cook frozen pre-made appetizers. The first pizza was Burnt To A Crisp and Black all on the edges of the crust along wt our eggplant app burnt and so chewy you couldn't tell what you were actually eating, the next one was when We Specifically asked for Peperoni, onions and Black Olives in half and the second half just cheese only!! Today they Put Sausage instead of Pepperoni, Black olives and onions. Is it that Difficult to put the proper toppings on a pizza and then put in their pizza oven? I didn't think it was rocket science to do this. No more. Last time. And the owner of this establishment and manager did not seem to care or was sympathetic when I just already payed for our WRONG Pizza and Appetizers and then have to wait AN Additional Hour to get the right one back. I just moved here and I tried Markos and was not impressed at all. There was pretty much no sauce on the pizza, It was black around the edges, and had 2 huge clumps of black burnt food from the oven on the bottom of it. I also ordered there lasagna and it was better tasting then the pizza but had no sauce on there also.
