You can't go wrong really with an old-fashioned diner. Love the vibe in here, and we got lucky on a Sunday morning breakfast with being able to immediately sit down at the counter. Got the standard breakfast fare with eggs, pancakes, bacon, etc. Tasty and well-priced, fast and very nice service. And you can't be mad if Bruce Springsteen is a fan. I've been going to this tiny little diner for years. It's a hidden gem, just ask the king, Bruce. I used to love the cheesy omelettes, home fries, and pancakes. CANT GO WRONG. Today I went for the chilaquiles verdes with eggs. I've had it before, I'll have it again. It was good. I'd say get the sauce on the side (but that's just my preference & I haven't asked for it that way yet). You can get it with sour cream too which helps cuts through the sauce and spice! So cute. This is one of those train car style diners with stainless steel and it has so many of the original features. It's very retro looking. The place is cozy and clean. They have traditional diner fare as well as South American favorites. The Chilaquiles is Mexican and I could have added eggs with the sausage, but this was lunch and I had already had eggs for breakfast. The chilaquiles verde was delicious (a bit spicy so be warned in case you don't like heat). There were two of us a w he had a grilled chicken Caesar wrap (spinach wrap) and enjoyed it very much. I was here the other morning and it was a very quaint classic diner! Very vintage and original interior. The bathrooms are new and clean. The prices were low for a New Jersey Diner and the food was great! This place takes grills very seriously, and we waited at most 15 minutes for our full meals! Very bright for a vintage diner and cute Americana theme! Cute flowers in the window and festive easter decor! The waiter who served us was very friendly. We didn't even sit without being greeted. He brought us water and our table was set immediately. My fiance ordered a milkshake which was delicious. However, there was only chocolate and strawberry. We ordered a homemade blueberry muffin and it was grilled (toasted) with a delicious coating of butter. The muffin may have been my favorite. I'm not a local but the place seemed very local, which I love! patrons were greeted by name, which I love to see. Families, and single people at the bar alike enjoyed their meals. This is for anyone who doesn't know its a prefabricated factory-built dinner. AKA vintage. For that reason, the inside is in amazing condition while maintaining its original form. The grill is out of view to give a more modern look! My Fiance got the french toast and it was a HEALTHY portion! Very yummy, soft, and flaky. We got the texas toast. Real maple syrup, which I love. However, the parking is challenging. There is a spacious lot. However, it can be tricky to find! I ordered the avocado toast. I really enjoyed it. The bread was toasted before so it was crispy and delicious. My only criticism of it was it kinda felt more like a guacamole mash, with lime, tomatoes, and hints of lime. Located on main street Freehold, Roberto's is truly a vintage charm. I visited Roberto's Freehold Grill on 3/29 with my mom and my dad. There is parking in the back for patrons of the diner however the lot isn't huge so warning, you might have to street park. My eyes instantly gravitated toward the beautiful chrome exterior - it was like straight out of a retro film. Roberto's is not incredibly spacious but we were Immediately seated at the countertop and our server was incredibly friendly. We ordered our food at 10:00 and received it at 10:09, so we definitely didn't wait long at all. We ordered two mexican quesadillas and a boss panini. Everything came out wonderful and portion sizes were definitely worth the price we paid. Roberto's still retained majority of the retro exterior and interior. The decor is incredibly nostalgic with old menu prices still listed, celebrating the history and longevity of this diner ( I want a 4 dollar steak). Bruce Springsteen also visits frequently so keep an eye out! (his guitar and photo are on the wall). The ambiance is incredibly charming and you can tell how much the staff loves their jobs. 80s jams soundtracked the morning we left full and satisfied. We were looking for a nice diner and came across Roberto's freehold grill. The restaurant had a very diner feel to it. We were pointed where to sit and not brought which I didn't mind, but I know some people might be upset about. The server was nice and decently attentive. The food came in a good amount of time. I got a number 4 classic breakfast platter, the eggs weren't that well seasoned, the home fries weren't bad just not seasoned, the bacon and sausages were okay. Ultimately I give my meal a 2/5. The price on it is pretty expensive for the quality of the food, a drink itself was $4 for a average drink and no refills. Classic diner located in the heart of Freehold Borough. You'll see all your regular diner selections - I'm always partial to the breakfast options, especially the eggs. You'll have a good time experience here. Only downside is that they don't appear to be utilizing the grill up front anymore. Last time I was here a few years back they did. Sorry this review is late. We ate here Monday 7/18/22, after my wife had a doctors appointment nearby. We were actually going somewhere else, but other places were closed Mondays. This is a cash only business. The service was friendly, but no refill on coffee was offered. It took awhile for our food to come out even though this place wasn't that busy. The food was good. I had the corned beef hash with eggs over easy, cooked perfectly with rye toast. This special doesn't come with home fries, however my wife volunteered hers, was given a generous portion of bacon with her scrambled eggs, also cooked just right. This diner seems like it's great for regulars. This cashier was also amiable, he makes and sells cheesecakes, I'm an amateur baker so that interests me greatly. This place was previously owned by Tony's Freehold Grill. I haven't been to Tony's since the pandemic began and always wanted to come back here. We finally came back for breakfast/lunch. I didn't realize that the name changed and it had a grand opening only a few days earlier! The place was full and almost every table was occupied but we managed to get seated after arriving. I had the short stack buttermilk pancakes with bananas and it was delicious! The fluff factor was there. It was soft and fluffy and not dense. Daughter had the Eggs Florentine, which was 2 poached eggs, sautéed spinach and tomatoes on a toasted English muffin topped with hollandaise sauce, served with home fries. She loved it and thought the sauce was delicious. Lastly, hubs had the All American Cheese Burger which was topped with choice of cheese. He opted for Swiss cheese and told them to cook it as rare as they can. He also had the side of fries double fried. The fries were great! He liked the burger alot and thought the lettuce and tomatoes were really fresh as well. We went on an 85 degree day, so the place was a bit stifling. There wasn't any air conditioning but it was turned on for a few minutes and then it went off. Not sure if it was because the air conditioning was broken or not. Hope they fix it before the summer arrives. Service was friendly but a little slow. That's to be expected for a place that just opened. Tony's Freehold Grill used to cook everything in front of you. The food here was horrible. We got louisiana chicken sandwiches and a center street combo. For a diner that has 4 1/2 stars, the food was very unseasoned and seemed like frozen food that was being heated up/fried. Even to the guacamole.. which seemed pre-packaged as well. We did think it seemed good by the reviews and the pictures, but no! The milkshake I had tasted like pure nesquik strawberry syrup or powder and looked abnormally too pink. The service here was honestly horrible. The lady checked on us basically twice through hour being there. There were barely any napkins at our table and it seemed poorly cared for. The servers were rude and honestly would not go back. Was not worth the half hour drive. Was not good service wise or food wise. Very pricey for food that is honestly horrible. ($4 12 oz apple juice and orange juice with NO REFILLS). I tried to like the food, but it was so disgusting. Don't come here! read more

I recently visited Roberto's Freehold Grill for lunch on Wednesday and I had a wonderful time. The diner's vintage and quaint look has always stood out to me from my times visiting downtown Freehold. I decided it was finally time to give it a try. I visited alone and they immediately made me feel comfortable and welcome. After learning about Jerry O'Mahony diners in class, it was breathtaking being able to actually be in one. Seeing the train car style and the stainless steel was mesmerizing and the vintage menu hanging above the bar seats with the original prices from back in the day was something I'll never forget. My waitress was so sweet and you could really tell that the staff felt like a family. I was sat immediately upon entering and the service was really fast. As someone who loves biscuits and gravy, I had to order the sausage and gravy bowl off the special menu and it did not disappoint! The biscuits were so fresh and tasty and everything came together for the perfect combination. I'm already planning my next trip there as my time there was extremely enjoyable. read more

Freehold's classic diner!! It's under new ownership but we went this past weekend and loved it so much! The food is amazing and the menu is so fun and fresh! I had the Oreo pancakes which were outstanding! My friend had their corned beef hash which he absolutely loved. The service was great and the place is clean and sparkling! Used to eat here when it was Tony's and was never disappointed. But now I will never go back. No corned beef hash which is a staple in any diner I have ever been to. No sugar-free syrup for pancakes. Owner says they forgot to stock it. Again should be a staple in a diner. Coffee with lukewarm at best. On top of this there was no air conditioning.
