Hubs and I came here for breakfast. We were immediately seated and ordered the following: Hubs ordered the Green Omelette, which has broccoli, zucchini, spinach and scallions. It came with home fries or hash browns with toast and jelly OR just pancakes. He opted for a side of pancakes. He said that it was one of the better omelettes than local diners. There were plenty of vegetables in the omelette and the eggs were softer than usual. Pancakes were ok and a nice change from toast. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros from Mom's Lunch Specials. It caught my eyes when I walked in and saw it on the board. This was different than what I'm accustomed to but it tasted ok. I got a choice of soup and chose chicken noodle. Soup was a nice add-on. The soup choices were Matzoh ball, chicken noodle, French onion or crock of chili. Hash brown was nice and crispy. Service was quick and friendly. We've been driving by this place for years and been wanting to give this place a try. Glad we stopped by. Will return to try other items on the menu. read more

The name is deceiving because it sounds like it might be a cafe, but this is 100% a diner. Unfortunately I didn't have the best experience here. I ordered a fairly simple dish (avocado toast) and the avocados were just placed on the bread in thick slices with thick chunks of tomatoes on top. Further, my husbands panini came out undercooked and he was very heavily sold on ordering another dish despite him repeating multiple times he was okay and would just eat later. The waitress was very insistent to the point where we were both becoming uncomfortable. My poached eggs were cooked well, which would have earned this place two stars. HOWEVER, at I hold them the register we were also still charged for my husbands sandwich that he did not eat. This amount differed from the check that we got at the table which only showed my meal. Unfortunately I am too trusting and did not realize the mistake until I was already home. This means I ended up paying $21 plus tip for avocado toast. My friends took me here for breakfast on my birthday, we had 3 toddlers with us and a baby who we put in a high chair. The place was pretty empty when we arrived. We've been seated at the booth in the middle of the restaurant (in my opinion it's better to put such large loud group like ourselves somewhere in the corner, however, it wasn't our choice and we were totally fine with our booth. Our server (young friendly girl) was nice, and food was arriving fast, however, it took at least 15-20 minutes to have our check after we've asked for it. 1 star to this place getting an older female server (heavy-weighted one) who started rolling her eyes on us the moment we walked in. She kept walking to other tables and was getting a grumpy sour face every time she was passing near our table. Back in time I used to be a server too and I know what it's to have a table full of toddlers! However, it's server's job to be friendly and smile (or at least not to roll your eyes to customers. But this lady WAS NOT OUR server to being with, secondly they could've sat us in the corner and not in the center, that way you don't need to see us as much, and thirdly- we got a high chair and it was hard for a large person to walk around with a tray full of plates. So while we were waiting for our check (15-20 minutes as I've said earlier), our kids started loosing it and started getting out from the table and walking between the booths - that's when that grumpy server lost it too and started scouting that "someone may get hurt, you should not run here". Hello, not our fault that our check wasn't coming! Eventually, after the check came, we got money ready and been waiting for a server to take it but it took another 10 minutes to find out that you pay as you exit. Finally, it took us another 10-15 minutes to wait for a cashier come to the register and he actually was the most friendly person in the entire place and even gave our kids cookies for a long wait. Food was average, pricing budget friendly. IMHO this place should either post a note on the door "NO KIDS ALLOWED" or train their staff to deal with customers with small kids. read more

We've been to Mom's many times and are impressed by the food, service and value. My wife enjoyed the vegetable omelette skillet and I had a veggie wrap. Our friends both had tuna wraps that came with a very large portion of fries. The coffee was very tasty and high quality. We stopped here for brunch today for the first time. The menu is a pretty good size with pretty much something for everyone. We waited awhile before getting our drink order taken and I told the waitress coffee with milk and another person in our party cream. She forgot the milk and took awhile to return to finally ask for my milk again to drink it. They also didn't give our whole party silverware right away which was a bit weird. Coffee is also limited to 2 cups it's not unlimited FYI. Food was good the only thing I realized was my meal came with a juice I never received! Waitress completely forgot about it as did I. The wait is crazy long and they do not take reservations and you cannot be seated until everyone in your party is there. It was good, diner food, nothing to right home about. Grilled chicken on sandwich rubbery, nothing 'grill' like about it more microwave, chicken quesadilla was good for kids, son got chicken and waffles, waffle WAY overdone but he didn't care. We like disco fries but instead asked for gravy on the side, thank goodness we did it tasted bad, like a chemical had gotten into it, I asked them to give us turkey gravy rather than brown figuring there was just something wrong with the brown gravy, nope, manager comes back with turkey gravy and said "chef said there is nothing wrong with this gravy, its just the taste of the canned kind he buys" well he was right, because turkey gravy tasted the same way..so if you know it tastes like chemicals perhaps make some fresh..it doesn't take much to do!! Even my kids said it tasted really scary bad and they eat anything! This place is on our way home from kids Orthodontics visits, so we will probably stop again for something soft for them to eat after adjustments, but will probably stick to pancakes. read more

The California omelette: big and soft pieces of broccoli, stringy cheddar cheese, and they do egg whites without looking at you like you are from another planet! The hash browns are crispy with a thick layer of crisp on top, folded over in a cohesive mound like the changeling's rift on your plate as it crashes up against your omelette. The coffee too, even way better than at Red Oak and other diners reasonably nearby and in the same league. This is a nice diner experience. They have a lot of options on the menu and are very accommodating to weird requests. Although the waiter was frazzled with the order of challah toast and required a little extra explanation in words and concepts he could understand - we seem to have found the one gentile in the area, ladies and gentlemen. read more

This place is a local favorite from what I am told. We went for breakfast. I was told the skillets were good so I got chose the leprechaun skillet with over easy eggs because I like corned beef. Well let me tell you, this skillet was so filling I had like 5 bites and was STUFFED. The rye bread that came with my skillet was fresh and toasted just the way I like and I tried some of my boyfriends Greek skillet and that was pretty darn good as well. What I didn't like is that there were about 5 guys standing around in the back but we had to wait and call someone over to just get a cup of coffee. I went with my cousin who is a regular there and was treated as such. On the other hand, I was a first timer but also got the "regular" treatment. Cuz got a salad served with grille shrimp and there were a lot of them. He says he even gets more shrimp when his regular waiter is there. Personally, I thought what he had was plenty. Instead of pancakes with her eggs she wanted french toast (we would have gladly paid the up charge). Went to NJ for Christmas to see family. Christmas morning all the diners and restaurants were closed. Came across Moms and figured it was worth a try. When I entered the waitress greeted me right away and the place was very clean. Luis ,one of the two owners, approached me , greeted me and took my order. While waiting Luis offered me a cup of coffee and we engaged in a conversation. He was very friendly and we had a good conversation. My order came out and I left. When I got back to our hotel my wife and myself enjoyed the food very much.The next morning we returned for breakfast before we left to go home.We then met Antonio the other owner and he also was a very nice gentleman. The breakfast was excellent.I had the eggs Benedict and it was the best I have ever had. My wife had pancakes etc and was very pleased with it. Next time in NJ we will be back. I'll take quality over quantity on any given day. That's my personal preference. A single $8.99 breakfast skillet at Mom's may be enough food to feed a family of four, but seriously, give me half the amount of food and use the best ingredients possible, and then make it taste amazing. The Leprechaun skillet, made with corned beef hash, tasted more like it had been made with actual Leprechaun meat. I don't understand why so many diners insist on buying their corned beef hash in giant, Army-sized aluminum cans. They have all the ingredients to make a fresh, homemade corned beef hash, yet they insist on this version, which is sadly akin to a can of dog food. And when it comes to the eggs, I personally think a good skillet scrambles all the ingredients together -- eggs included. Here, the eggs are bare and tossed on top. Dry, flavorless... just plain boring. My wife's hash browns looked promising, cooked with a nice golden crunch and all, but they were really greasy, and not in an OMG butter kind of way, but instead just tasted like, well, grease. Coffee wasn't particularly good either, and that really sucks because, I mean, c'mon -- you're a DINER! It's nice they give you a full carafe at the table, but a carafe full of dirty, bitter dishwater is useless. A few sips was all I could bare. As for decor, people have pretty much nailed it. The interior of Mom's is super old school, and I'm not talking like cool and retro-chic. Mom's is worn down, and while I wouldn't categorize it as dirty per se, I didn't find the space to be the slightest bit appealing. Service was very good, but not enough to bring me back. Stopped in during covid pre election 2020 and it was a strange ordeal. The crew seemed split on wether the virus was real and if wearing a mask and cleaning tables made a difference. Obviously not what you want to hear or see during a pandemic. The food is average and you get what you pay for. Basically not made with any spices or care, but its cheap and fast. Didn't get to eat it then, but it's now Wednesday and it tastes just as fresh. My boyfriend and I were on a bit of a diner binge while I was at home for an impromptu weekend visit. After trying some of the others in the area, he suggested Mom's as my "last NJ" meal until Valentine's Day when I return. We entered and were quickly seated, it we were maybe one of three diners in there at 3:30 on Monday. After perusing the menu, we decided to deviate from the breakfast food we ALWAYS order at diners (soups, omelettes and a side of bacon). So, he ordered a house salad to start and a triple decker grilled cheese with bacon and tomato. I got a greek salad with grilled chicken and shrimp..and holy crow! It was enough to feed us for weeks! My salad was honestly a solid foot wide and had at least a pound of protein on it...plus tons of peppers, tomatos, feta and olives. I didn't even need salad dressing. My better half's sandwich was on thick Texas toast, with a TON of bacon and lots of tomato. He only managed to soldier through half before he threw in the towel. I ate about 2/3 of my salad before I had to surrender. It was just the never ending salad platter! (Oh, we also got a side of bacon, which we ate most of. I doubt there is a couple out there that adores bacon more than we do.) Total damage for both meals (that could easily feed us both twice) with two sodas? Under $30. YES.
