Marlins is a reliable cleaners that I've used exclusively since I moved in around the corner. Located on 3rd Ave between 26th and 25th streets, near Barukh College and next to a Dag grocery store, UPS, and Dunkin Donuts which makes doing other errands easier. They recent changed ownership but still do dry clean, tailor work, and other specialty services. In fact, I recently did a huge dry clean order in prep for the cooler weather and the front desk representative told me one of the items may need to be shipped to the manufacturer since it was a special material. When I came back, about 1 week later, everything was ready including the shirt. Also they pointed out that one of my dresses had stains that I couldn't see before and informed me the garment needs special care going forward. There's not much to say about this place other than they do a good job and their prices are reasonable ($2.25 to launder/press a shirt, roughly $5 to dry clean a pair of slacks). Turnaround time has always been quick, though I'm typically not the type of customer who demands same-day service. And yes, the owners are as nice as everyone attests. read more

This place was very convenient for me because it is close by to where I go to school. I've had quite a few items laundered and dry-cleaned. They have not removed stains, clothes were not properly washed and they also ruined one of my dresses. Not too impressed. :\ They are a very sweet Korean couple. This place is my neighborhood dry-cleaners and I love them. Every thing I've taken to this place has been returned to me cleaner and lovelier than I had left it, so I know they are giving some tender lovin' care to my clothes which makes me feel comfortable in going back every time. I've gotten things fixed here and also pants tailored and I've never had a problem with them. The owners are this sweet Korean couple and their service is attentive and good. They often stay open later than their hours state on the door, which is great so that I can pick my things up after work during the week. They are closed on Sundays. read more

Marlin is my new local cleaner and I'm happy with both their cleaning and alteration services. The owners have always been friendly. My only complaint is that they seem to take a day longer than my previous cleaners to complete a simple wash and press for my shirts. They can rush the order, but I'd rather not go through the bother. They also provide excellent on-site alterations for all of my pants. read more

If your definition of getting a shirt fixed is not ever getting the shirt back, and then having to argue over the duration of a half of a month to communicate with employees who speak in English as a second language, then this is the place for you. I have repeatedly shown them the receipt, pictures of the shirt, and they still have failed to return the shirt back to me. Somehow it got lost and they are not taking responsibility for it and difficult to communicate with. Now they are telling me they are going to buy me the same shirt instead of providing a refund. Is this really happening? yes. I will not be returning for ANY services and will take my dry-cleaning/shirt fixes elsewhere. read more

I could have easily chosen the more flashy place across the street but I'm glad I chose Marlin. The owners, a couple, are sooo sweet. They do a solid job on wash and fold for a decent price and same day service, though I sometimes wish my clothes came out smelling more like fresh detergent. Their dry cleaning services are excellent, well priced and timely. I've had everything from a leather coat to a down comforter specially cleaned so I trust them with higher priced items. On one occasion they had sent home a brand new shirt of mine with another customer. They asked that I give them a few days to track it down then if it didn't turn up they would reimburse me the full amount. They promptly called my roommate (not sure why) a day later to let me know it turned up. I have sent all of my roommates here and they have all been happy with the results as well. read more

I went to Marlin expecting good quality and a hospitable staff based on the reviews. The staff was very pleasant, many of my items turned out fine, and they did a good job with a few minor stitching requests. But they shrank a few dresses/skirts significantly, and I can no longer wear them. I had dry cleaned these items before with no issues. I will probably not go back unless it's for clothing with no shrinkage risk. read more

i love the couple here. they are VERY kind and always turn things around when they say they will. came here reliably every other week (pressing my BF's shirts) for three years, and they always remembered my name and were unfailingly polite. only thing is it's cash only under $20 - definitely had to run to get cash a couple times. read more

Amazing cleaners. I had a hard time deciding on where to bring my clothes in this area because there are so many cleaners around. But, I dropped off a ton of dresses, pants, sweaters, etc. And after they had been cleaned, I put on one of my favorite sweaters that previously had a hole in it. I looked down to find they had stitched it up without even asking! And they matched the thread color perfectly. Other that that, cleaning was fine. And they even pick up and deliver. i never ever write reviews on yelp even though i use it alot, however, i seriously felt the need to for marlin cleaners. been using their service for quite sometime and ever since one incident with the lady boss about three jackets that i didnt want to dry clean and told her to leave it out, but she insisted on dry cleaning, she lost her temper and ever since then has had the worst attitude to someone paying her for her service. I called after that service and sent my items for cleaning, however she actually sent them right back and said there were too many dry cleaning items to be dry cleaned and without even checking with me she just returned it and told me to go somewhere else. i do not mind her rejecting my business, however the attitude.... that i sure did not deserve. never once was i rude to her or anything and have always been really nice. Guess just my luck that she probably thinks i am Chinese because of my name. well.... dear korean lady, you really should be nicer to your own country folk, or anybody for that matter. yes. read more

I've been going to this dry cleaners for almost 8 years now! And i'm like family with the owners of the place. They are always nice and make effort to converse. Of course the most important thing is their service. The lady, who is the owner, does the fitting herself and always does a perfect job. I've never had a complaint and if something runs a little late, they always let me know about it to make sure it's not an inconvenience. It's never failed me so far. read more

We tried Marlin to clean a small wool carpet. After 2 weeks, we picked it up and discovered it smelled bad. We took it back and asked them to remedy the situation. They agreed, and another two weeks later, we picked it up to discover it smelled exactly the same. Not sure what our $50 got us. Now we need to find another cleaner for our carpet. read more

I don't understand why it's so hard to find same-day dry cleaning in this neighborhood. Luckily this place has it, and is cheaper than the place I used to go to (near 27th st. between Park and Lex) by a few dollars. Plus, they're really nice. I used this cleaners for a while. The proprietors of the store were friendly when I had no complaints, but when I informed them that they destroyed a dress and tried to cover it up with a poor stitching job, they immediately became aggressive and rude. They did not apologize or offer to fix the dress. I was very taken aback by the treatment I received. I do not recommend taking any expensive clothing to them. read more

I took a pair of pants here to be hemmed ($14) and they did a great job. In fact, if it weren't for the fact that they were wrapped up and ready for pickup, I would have thought they didn't get to it yet. The new hem was a perfect copy of the original and I am so pleased. These weren't expensive pants, but they were new and I liked them so much that I didn't want to have to hassle with an exchange. For easy alterations, I would definitely go back.
