Big ups to Royal Cleaners! Ok, so the other day I pop a button on my coat (which I love and have had for years), and i'm kinda annoyed about it ... You know how hard it is to find that RIGHT winter coat ... Plus, it is the middle of February here in the NY, so it was cold as hell and I couldn't properly insulate ... I'm trying to decide what I'm going to do about it and I happen past Royal Cleaners! I walk in and the dude was super friendly and stopped what he was working on to fix my button and my coat, right there, free of charge! How awesome is THAT? People helping people ... I'm a bit cynical when it comes to random acts of kindness, particularly in NY ... But as I fully buttoned up my coat once again to brave the frigid winter weather, I was humbled that a city establishment could be that cool and helpful in my time of need. Thanks Royal Cleaners. I come here pretty regularly and find this place to be very reliable. In a city with so many options in dry cleaners, it's tough to find one where service is excellent. I had a big wedding to attend and had to get my suit tailored and dry cleaned in a hurry. The owner, James went out of his way to accommodate and I got my suit fitting like it was a bespoke suit in 2 days. I have had bad experiences with other cleaners so I am happy to recommend a good one. I will be going back here over an over for the reliable service. read more

I moved to the area and was looking for a dry cleaners that I could trust and count on. I turned to Yelp and was not disappointed. Royal Cleaners is hands down the best in the area and I regularly used them for all of my dry cleaning needs (suits and work shirts). Aside from quick and high quality service that I became accustom to (never had a missing item, never had problems with the quality of cleaning), Royal Cleaners are magicians when it comes to removing the occasional bad stain or repair. Most of the time I figured that I completely ruined a shirt but I would take it in anyways to let them have a shot at it, they saved me numerous times from buying a new shirt or a pair of pants. Not only are the people who work here really nice, but they do a great job as well. I have taken both dry cleaning and tailoring here and have been extremely satisfied every time. Even though I've moved farther away, I still take all my tailoring here because everything has turned out so well. The only downside is that it is a little pricey, but I'd rather know that I was getting good quality than taking clothes to some sketchy cheap place. read more

I was staying at NYU for a few days and desperately needed my clothes dry cleaned--I wish I had stayed away from this cleaner. The items I received back were decent but overpriced for a simple clean and press. Additionally, the owner James lost my suit pants. I called the next day and he was very rude and disrespectful saying that it was nothing that he could do about the pants and I had lost them. Another customer posted on 4/13/2015 about a very similar experience so I believe this is a common occurrence when James loses items. Instead of taking responsibility he grows irate, rude, and disrespectful. I would avoid this dry cleaner at all cost or at the very least check your clothes thoroughly before leaving and not trust the owner at his word. read more

No integrity. Dishonest. Fraudulent. Rude. Royal Cleaners posted an offer on-line that read, "10% off dry cleaning/laundered shirts - Customer Appreciation Day! - Offer good every Thursday - Mention Yelp". However, the manager, James Jhang, refused to honor the terms of the offer. He claimed that his Point-of-Sale (POS) system could not process a 10% discount for both dry cleaning and shirts without a manual override. Since the override would require additional time for each purchase, he stated that he would not honor the offer posted on www.yelp.com. When I explained that his usual cashier had been processing the discount for months, he rudely responded that that man was "only an employee" and had no right processing the 10% discount. He also said that "he was probably overcharging you to begin with." And then he finished by telling me, "Come see me when you run a business." He was rude, arrogant, defensive, and disrespectful. I explained that I had been a good customer of his business for approximately 18 months and that I was typically spending about $150 a month there. I couldn't understand why he would suddenly stop honoring his "Customer Appreciation Day" offer and risk losing my business. He told me he didn't care and that I could take my business somewhere else. So, that's what I am doing. I encourage you to avoid this business. Do not trust any of their offers or advertisements. They are deceptive and disrespectful and apparently do not value good customer service. Bottom line: they have no integrity. read more

This place isn't even deserving of the one star. I came in asking them to remove a few stains from my leather jacket and I got it back two weeks later with damaged spots on the front. What's worse is that they didn't even remove all of the stains. I asked to be reimbursed, but the guy kept telling me he wouldn't because apparently the damage wasn't from the "dry-cleaning process," even though he even told me that the damage was caused from trying to remove the stain (sounds like the dry-cleaning process to me). If you want your expensive clothes to be ruined, then definitely go here. If not, avoid at all costs. read more

Decent and probably better than average in the neighborhood but they accidentally washed my dry cleaning, ruining $600 worth of clothing. They did pay for it, which is the right thing to do. Lastly, they fold their wash kind of weirdly which means I have to refold all the t-shirts. That's annoying. read more

Finally found a great dry cleaner in the area. Super Nice people. They do a great job. Really like them. Laundry is clean. Dry cleaning is clean and I've even had alterations done here. I walked into Royal Cleaners because I needed buttons transferred from an old cardigan to a new cardigan. It didn't end up happening (because I failed to realize that I didn't have enough buttons), but my time there left such a positive impression I felt the need to post. James, the owner, is SO friendly and helpful, I was blown away. He gave me advice for drycleaning the cardigan, and also told me about a few places I might be able to buy more buttons. I left wishing they had laundry machines, too -- I'd lug all of my laundry the several blocks to get there just to give them business. read more

I brought in a suit jacket that they had dry cleaned but still had a number of dirt stains. Despite being a loyal and long-time customer, they said that they would never send anything out in such bad condition and would not believe me when I said I hadn't worn it. Terrible service and rude staff. I recently brought a silk skirt to be dry cleaned. A few weeks later when I went to wear it, I noticed the color had bled and the silk texture had been lost. It had clearly been washed instead of dry cleaned. I brought it back to them to ask what had happened and, more importantly, if there was anything that could be done to fix it. They were nasty, refused to take responsibility and accused me of doing the damage myself. I understand that mistakes are made but cannot tolerate being insulted and blamed. I had been going to the cleaners for many years and there was no acknowledgment of my loyalty. I am a loyal customer and over the years had overlooked many instances of poor service on their part. They often return items past the requested date forcing me to follow up and frequently clothing items weren't properly cleaned or pressed. Staff used to be nice and friendly but recently (last year) there have been staffing/management changes and it s now an unpleasant place. I live in a large building and have heard similar complaints from many neighbors. Conversely, I brought the ruined skirt to another cleaners on 4th avenue to ask whether they could fix it. While they weren't optimistic, they were very sympathetic and offered to try to clean it for free. They also believe, in their expert opinion, that Royal Cleaners had made a mistake and washed the skirt instead of dry cleaning it. There are many other cleaners in the neighborhood. I recommend trying one of those and not taking chances with this place. read more

I gave this place two stars instead of one because for 4 years i had no issues. However, they lost my dry cleaning and instead of looking around the store, or checking the system under other names that dropped off the same time, or saying sorry, the owner James yelled at me and refused to take any accountability. He was extremely rude and told me even though I have been a client for 4 years, he trusts his delivery guy and I clearly lost it. I was shocked at the way he treated a customer that has been so loyal and how he refused to look around the store for it. Needless to say I will not be using him ever again. read more

Been using them for 3 years and after leaving the neighborhood, would go back to use them. They are reasonable and do a good job. They are speedy and want to get everything done as fast as possible. The only reason I gave them 4 instead of 5 stars is the owner or someone really good used to work on weekends, now it's morons that can't be inconvenienced to help you, they'd rather play on their phones. My wife had a blouse damaged and they replaced it, going the extra mile since it was no longer available from its manufacturer (J. Crew). We recently moved into the area and thought we'd try this place as a result of the last review. Last weekend we spent over $100 on wash and fold. When we got it back, I noticed the zipper was missing off my $100 hoodie. I was first accused of lying that the zipper was there before we took it in, which was completely insulting. Then he told me I had to pay $20 to get a different zipper put on it. I was upset and completely disappointed. That is no way to treat a customer. I REFUSE to ever go there again. read more
