Me and my girly enjoyed some Marmalade Cafe on Father's Day for the longest lunch of all time. Like we were literally there for almost three hours because it took so long to get our food. Now, we didn't really mind because we were having so much fun yapping but normally that would be crazZzZayyy. I got the pancakes which were great and my friend got the burger. She said it was so bad that no matter how many different sauces she put on it it was still flavorless. Again, at least we had great company and a really nice server! This location is really cute and big! Indoor and outdoor seating. The Commons does have a parking lot but is currently undergoing construction and is a little hard to find. Hey sista, go sista, soul sista, flow sista! I love little gems where you can have some good food, good vibes and great company! My sugar sugar came by my job and we decided to hang out locally until traffic died down. We actually were looking for another restaurant and realized it wasn't there. He recommended this spot in the same area. For some of y'all this may be a normal place to go but for me it was my first experience and I was excited! My hot date and I have a tradition of trying espresso martinis wherever we go. So of course we ordered those. He got the veggie burger and I got the chicken piccata - subbed the chicken for salmon. The waitress recommended to have it blackened. So glad I did!! The salmon was a great cut and seasoned and cooked to perfection! The noodles with the lemon and capers were amazing. It came with a side of arugula salad that was tasty, especially with the generous amount of shaved Parmesan on top! Sugar sugar's burger was good and his fries were yummy!! Service was great from our host, to the waitress, to the people who brought our martinis and dinner out. The weather was fantastic so sitting outside was definitely a treat. The next time we came back with kids, we order Chicken Piccata, Baja Cioppino, Lobster & Shrimp Linguine and the Garlic Shrimp Linguine However, the last time we ordered here for "to go" to celebrate my son's 7th bday, I was very disappointed. Coming to the Calabasas Commons is a tradition for us as we drive up the California coast. We always stop by Marmalade Café to enjoy the great service and beautiful scenery. The turtles out front are such an awesome touch--and yes, they definitely travel outside of the pond! I'm a sucker for bread, so anywhere that serves good bread is an automatic win for me. This place is truly a must-try. I had the eggs Benedict, which were perfectly poached and full of flavor. The potatoes were seasoned with the perfect amount of savory spices. They were also able to cater to my gluten-free and dairy-free sister, which is always a huge plus. And the Luxe Bagel was so refreshing. My husband and I dined here because of a Groupon offer. We sat outside on the patio on an early May evening and it was lovely. Our server was extremely attentive to our needs and made some good food recommendations based on our preferences. We really enjoyed our meal and with the Groupon, and it was an especially good value. There are fountains outside, and a full service bar. My mom and I dressed business casual in preparation. Full disclosure... the only reason we were here was because the wait at Sugarfish was too long. Hadn't been to a Marmalade in a few years. I used to visit the Westlake Village location and remembered it was pretty good. First, the restaurant was not busy at all and we were seated right away. I did notice several tables hadn't been cleaned, so that tells me they are understaffed. We were greeting quickly with menus and some nice warm bread. I could be wrong but it felt the menu has shrunk over the past few years. They used to have a pretty wide selection but it didn't seem that way. I started with the Caesar salad and it was pretty good. Not the best and not the worst. I then had the shrimp pasta. It had a generous helping of shrimp but the whole thing was swimming in butter and oil. Had I known, I would have told them to take it easy. The service was fine and the atmosphere was ok... even though not that many people in there it just felt loud. I remember Marmalade from being a "step up" from others in terms of the overall experience , but this just felt like a step down. The help seemed a bit sloppy and coupled with the dirty dishes laying around, it just felt a bit rundown. One of the employees saw some what looked like high school friends and she was messing around with them... it just felt more like a Denny's or Bobs Big Boy on a Friday night then a more elevated experience. New Years Day - seated right away for brunch and had a perfect meal. While it's a bit loud in here with all the conversation, it feels warm and comfortable, and the food was on point. While we were waiting, we had fresh baked sourdough that was crisp on the outside and steaming and soft on the inside. I had the Gilson's 3-egg avocado, bacon, and cheddar scramble with a mushroom bisque side. Super tasty. My guy had French toast with berry and banana and (blueberries and strawberries). The Calabasas Marmalade cafe has such luxurious decor but at reasonable prices that, it was a particular standout for us. We got kids meals- mac and cheese and pizza and both the kids liked it. Nothing special but not bad either. I got the eggs benedict and my husband the huevo rancheros both excellent! The portion sizes were pretty good. I got the vanilla latte as well which was delicious. If you want to spend $24 for a breakfast bagel, and old salad, go there. They brought butter and jelly, but when we asked for bread, they said it is 10:30 am, and we have bread at basket at 11:00 am? Go here on our special occasions. I forgot to take photos of the beautiful and well presented food we ordered. The vegetable hash was great. It included poached eggs and lots of vegetables. My mom and I had brunch here this morning and I can't stop thinking about the fried chicken and waffles. I love that the waffles were cut in quarters and were served with maple syrup and a side of bacon chutney. The chutney is one of the most delicious things I've tasted in a long time. I feel like this is an end of a huge era for our family. We order take out from this location weekly. When I say weekly, I mean at least 2 sometimes three times a week. And it's always the same exact item. A Cesar wrap (I always ask kindly) and a roasted artichoke. First, lately, the artichoke has been coming raw. But because it happens every few times, that was not the reasoning for coming today. Father's Day. We had a 12pm reservation and we were early- knowing it would be packed. Sat AFTER a large party that arrived after us- at 12:15, we were off to a rocky start. Waiter finally took our orders about 10/15 minutes after sitting. I tried ordering my Cesar wrap but was immediately snapped at that they didn't have tortillas. I replied 'you sure, quesadilla, do' . Not wanting to argue, under my breath I said 'I order it weekly but that's ok, I'll just take a Cesar salad!' Takes the rest of the orders and leaves. Mind you- there are two kids at the table. A 7 year old and 9 month old. I can't remember the last time the kids weren't served first. But hold on for that. 12:50, I ask the waiter the status and if the kids food can at least come out. He rudely comments about it being slammed and that all the food will come out when it's ready. No bother asking the people cooking it. He walks opposite direction. Before leaving makes it a point to rudely say 'but I put in your Cesar wrap'. Bro. Don't care. It's been an hour since our reservation, you sat us late and I just want my kids butter pasta. I get up and speak to a manager (12:55). Takes her like 10 minutes to get an answer and comes back to say 'it's just going to take longer. Jt is what it is.' Asks if we want bread and we said no thank you Waiter comes and slams tiny plates in front of all of us. Then proceeds to place down bread, steak knife in front of a 9month old. Who grabs it quicker than we can. Finally 1:45 kids and us finally get our food. An hour and Fourty five minutes from our reservation time. People sat after us around us were served before us and the kids. Sadly we will never eat here again, order take out or have any other family event here. We came to celebrate my cousins bday for Memorial Day. They took our order but took a really long time to bring it out which we understood since it was a holiday. However, when they did, they had packaged everything to go. The waiter punched in the wrong option. So they took the food back and put it on regular plates to bring it out again. By that time the food was getting cold, chicken was cold, eggs and pancakes were okay, but definitely not as expected. We were seared very quickly we preferred the outside because it was a nice day. Our waiter was very attentive and our food came out decently quick. The mimosas were delicious and a great price compared to getting them individually. The chicken and waffles bacon sauce it came with is what topped off the dish. The waffles could have had a little more crisp to them but still good. The chorizo dish had a lot of flavor and we swapped out the beans for potatoes which made it better. We ordered a combo platter of roast ROAST TURKEY CLUB, ALBACORE TUNA SALAD, and TURKEY WRAPS. Everyone was satisfied with the portion sizes and we even had left overs! For desert we ordered the assortment of freshly baked cookies. They were so amazingly good and simply melted in my mouth. A special THANK YOU to Alix. Quickly seated in a Saturday evening. Wasn't too busy, so service was quick and good came out quickly. Quite a mix of demographic, since we have a table full of preteens that were left there by their parents and the elder customers with their friends or significant other. You can't really go wrong with the calamari and pasta here. However, my wife didn't enjoy her lamb chop meal. At any rate the owners family as I understand helm the delightful Marmalade in Calabasas which we frequent when we desire a large and delicious breakfast. Located in the Commons we typically order the omelet with 7 ingredients which I couldn't list if I really concentrated, but the best server in town Debra will efficiently tick off each addition and I know it will be correct and all will be right with the morning. Choice of bagel or sourdough toast., fresh squeezed orange juice. Potatoes and side order of terrific tasting round sausage is our standing order. The restaurant has a variety of other delicious choices such as French toast and pancakes. Debra's excellent service will never leave you waiting to check in on you due to her attentive nature. After the hardy breakfast you can scurry outside and look at the fountains loaded with lazy turtles of all sizes looking up at you as they sunbathe in the morning sun. Then take a stroll on the commons and enjoy how lovely and charming it is. So the ambience is family friendly, the food ample portions and delicious. I came here with a friend on a Sunday morning around 11:15am - we made reservations, which I definitely recommend doing because it was very very busy! It was a very cute restaurant. Their outdoor patio was nicely shaded with big umbrellas and overall the area it was located in was perfect for walking around! I got the gilson's scramble and an arnold palmer. I looooved the gilson's scramble - nicely seasoned, well balanced with the bacon, cheese, and onions. I would absolutely want to order that scramble again For the scramble and drink, it cost me around $31 including tip and I left VERY full and satisfied. Plenty of parking in the area as well to make coming and going a breeze. My only critique would be perhaps they need to consider reorganizing the furniture layout on that patio area. My mom and I came here for Thanksgiving, and while the food itself was good, the service was flat-out unacceptable. Our waitress had an attitude from the moment she approached our table. When my mom simply asked to have her pumpkin pie warmed up, the waitress actually questioned her and said, "Why would you want to do that?" Excuse me? That is completely unprofessional. You do not question a customer's request -- especially something that simple. I visited Marmalade Café with my 14-year-old daughter for breakfast, and honestly, it was one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. We stood at the host stand for a few minutes being completely ignored. I finally had to say hello just to get anyone's attention, and one of the staff actually turned their back on us. Even my daughter noticed it, that's how bad it was. When we were finally seated, no one offered us water. I watched the table that got seated after us get immediate service and drinks, while we continued to be ignored. After waiting around 10 minutes, I had to ask a random server if someone could please take our order. They said they would find a server, but it still took a while before anyone came. When our order was finally placed, I went to use the restroom, which was dirty by the way, and when I came back, our drinks still hadn't arrived. No coffee, no water, nothing. At that point, I had enough. I told them to cancel my order and left. The staff seemed completely clueless as to what was going on. Horrible service, unclean environment, and zero respect for customers. I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially not for breakfast. We took our grandchild to see the turtles in the commons and went into Marmalade, no one at the front desk, sat outside on front patio where chairs were stacked five high using the space as storage. Took our grandchild into a bathroom that looked more like a gas station bathroom - disgusting. The girl working the bar was also our waitress outside and did the best she could to juggle both. She was sweet and as attentive as she could be. The food first came with the wrong kids meal. Quickly resolved. The mushroom and onion soup was fair-overcooked. This restaurant used to be my go-to spot whenever we couldn't think of anywhere else to go--the food was always consistently good. Unfortunately, our latest visit was a real disappointment. They've added a service fee and, at the same time, reduced portion sizes. The artichoke spinach dip was runny, lacking any real flavor, and served with soggy potato chips. The lobster tacos had so little lobster that I had to search for it, and the lamb burger was completely tasteless. The one bright spot was the bread, which is still as good as ever. Overall, though, the quality has slipped dramatically. I'm really disappointed to see a place I once loved decline like this.
