Delicious Mexican restaurant in Calabasas. The Birria dish amazing and hearty enough to split between two people or have enough for leftovers. I recommend the flour tortillas with them. The tortilla chips appetizer were warm and crisp. The beef enchilada was also very good. Plenty of free parking in the plaza the restaurant is located in.

Finally got around to see how the new management at Hacienda Tapatio is doing. To start their drinks are stiff. Tried the happy hour margarita and Cadillac margarita. No cutting corners here. The food is good and plentiful. Fajitas Tapatio came with steak, chicken and shrimp. I think the steak and chicken can use more seasoning/marinade. Burrito Tapatio with carnitas was tender and juicy. Tasted almost like lengua. Finally we tried the pozole, which was a little too light for me. Can use more seasoning. Service was very friendly and prompt. Updated decor and furniture also freshened up the restaurant. Overall a 3.5 star experience.

Dropped by to check it out. Hostess greeted us as we walked in. Super friendly. Great service from Roman at the bar! We were just having a drink but he graciously showed us all the menus and answered all our questions. The place looks great! Nice and clean. Good pour on the drinks! We'll definitely be back for Roman's service alone!

I am currently sitting at my table at the restaurant, just finished eating, and couldn't wait to write this review. Everything was perfect. The customer service, the chips and salsa, the atmosphere, the super crisp Diet Coke, and my amazing dinner. We got the birria plate and the carne asada burrito. They were both so delicious and very large portions. We ended up taking half of our dishes home (probably because we ate 2 baskets of their fresh chips and salsa). We will definitely be coming back. Truly so so good.

Wow--this place is absolutely amazing from start to finish. Perfect for a night out with the gals or date night. The food, the service, the cocktails, and the live Mariachi on Fridays all come together for an unforgettable experience. Every dish is full of bold, authentic flavor, the drinks are perfectly crafted, and the service is attentive and genuinely welcoming. The owner and his A-team have truly taken this restaurant to the next level of excellence. A special shout-out to our server, Lucy, who was super sweet and attentive throughout the entire meal. She truly elevated the experience and made us feel taken care of from the moment we sat down. You may be in the Valley, but the flavors and ambiance instantly transport you to a beautiful hacienda in Mexico--nostalgic, warm, and vibrant. Even better, the menu is very reasonably priced for the quality and experience you're getting. This has officially become my new favorite Friday night spot for dinner, cocktails, and mariachi. If you're looking for an impressive Mexican dining experience in Calabasas, this is it. I've already been here twice and will continue to be a local regular. Thank you!

Been coming for a couple weeks now and this place is great! Taco Tuesday just blew my mind, $2 tacos!! Tried birria, carnitas and asada and they were very good. Usually I would go for asada burrito w/ green sauce, although went for enchiladas alongside tacos. Can also get different meat in enchiladas, just went for beef and chicken although next time I'll try birria / carnitas enchiladas! They even have wooden horses inside, horses painted on the walls, and sombreros. You're in the right place, and the people make you feel welcome. Great service :)

We're new to the neighborhood and happened to drive by and decide to try this place and we're so happy we did! The service was amazing from start to finish. Owner personally came over to welcome us and walk us through the menu since they've just opened, which was such a nice touch. Everyone was incredibly sweet and accommodating. Ethan was our server and he was fantasticsuper sweet, attentive, and knowledgeable. He recommended the Pepino Picante, and WOW... SO good. Ethan absolutely nailed that drink. Food-wise, everything was great. The Burrito Tapatío was a total hit. We'll definitely be back and can't wait to see this place busy, highly recommend!

A few weeks ago, I finally made it in for dinner for the first time, and it absolutely lived up to my expectations. I can't remember exactly which nights they serve dinner, but it's well worth planning a visit. My partner and I ordered several dishes to share, and every single one was a hit. We started with the burrata and prosciutto appetizer with pesto, which was incredible. Paired with a glass of wine, a cocktail, and the complimentary house-made salt and vinegar chips, it would make for a perfect happy hour on its own. For our entrees and sides, we ordered the half chicken, roasted carrots, and dinosaur kale salad. The chicken tasted like it had been slow-cooked all day--tender, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The roasted carrots were outstanding, and even the kale salad felt special and thoughtfully composed. To finish the meal, we shared the sticky toffee pudding, which was one of the most memorable desserts I've had in a long time. We also tried two mocktails, both of which were creative, delicious, and fun. Sunrose continues to impress me whether I'm there for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I'll definitely be back again and again.

Hey sista, go sista, soul sista, flow sista!…read more I love little gems where you can have some good food, good vibes and great company! My sugar sugar came by my job and we decided to hang out locally until traffic died down. We actually were looking for another restaurant and realized it wasn't there. He recommended this spot in the same area. For some of y'all this may be a normal place to go but for me it was my first experience and I was excited! My hot date and I have a tradition of trying espresso martinis wherever we go. So of course we ordered those. He got the veggie burger and I got the chicken piccata - subbed the chicken for salmon. The waitress recommended to have it blackened. So glad I did!! The salmon was a great cut and seasoned and cooked to perfection! The noodles with the lemon and capers were amazing. It came with a side of arugula salad that was tasty, especially with the generous amount of shaved Parmesan on top! Sugar sugar's burger was good and his fries were yummy!! Service was great from our host, to the waitress, to the people who brought our martinis and dinner out. The weather was fantastic so sitting outside was definitely a treat. I'll be back for sure for that salmon piccata and asking for that espresso martini ya-ya da-da!!!

And it's always the same exact item. A Cesar wrap (I always ask kindly) and a roasted artichoke. First, lately, the artichoke has been coming raw. But because it happens every few times, that was not the reasoning for coming today. Father's Day. We had a 12pm reservation and we were early- knowing it would be packed. Sat AFTER a large party that arrived after us- at 12:15, we were off to a rocky start. Waiter finally took our orders about 10/15 minutes after sitting. I tried ordering my Cesar wrap but was immediately snapped at that they didn't have tortillas. I replied 'you sure, quesadilla, do' . Not wanting to argue, under my breath I said 'I order it weekly but that's ok, I'll just take a Cesar salad!' Takes the rest of the orders and leaves. Mind you- there are two kids at the table. A 7 year old and 9 month old. I can't remember the last time the kids weren't served first. But hold on for that. 12:50, I ask the waiter the status and if the kids food can at least come out. He rudely comments about it being slammed and that all the food will come out when it's ready. No bother asking the people cooking it. He walks opposite direction. Before leaving makes it a point to rudely say 'but I put in your Cesar wrap'. Bro. Don't care. It's been an hour since our reservation, you sat us late and I just want my kids butter pasta. I get up and speak to a manager (12:55). Takes her like 10 minutes to get an answer and comes back to say 'it's just going to take longer. Jt is what it is.' Asks if we want bread and we said no thank you Waiter comes and slams tiny plates in front of all of us. Then proceeds to place down bread, steak knife in front of a 9month old. Who grabs it quicker than we can. Finally 1:45 kids and us finally get our food. An hour and Fourty five minutes from our reservation time. People sat after us around us were served before us and the kids. Sadly we will never eat here again, order take out or have any other family event here. Pretty generous portion size, plenty of salmon and the eggs were perfectly cooked with an equally perfect toasted English muffin (not too hard, not too stuffy, literally the exact texture to soak up all of the yolk and add that creaminess to the dish alongside the hollandaise). Very popular spot in a cute kind of gold rush-western style town. Recommend you reserve a seat but we had a group of 5 at 10am on a Sunday and only waited 10 minutes so who knows? Even the dressing had to add salt just to eat it- I've never added salt to a salad before for reference lol to add to that it was $27 before tax and tip. For a terribly bland salad. Looked pretty tho! My fiancé and future mother in law had pancakes and crab cake Benedict. I tried the pancakes after my salad cuz I wanted something yummy to top off the bland meal - she warned me they weren't that great and kind of dry. Sadly, she wasn't wrong those were $20 or so... didn't have any fruit or anything to make it special. ihop may have been better.... The crab cake Benedict for $28 was "ok". The service we received was also excellent, thanks especially to our server, Blake, who really made the experience more enjoyable. Star of the Night: Without a doubt, the focaccia was the best I've ever had. Perfectly fluffy, flavorful, and truly next-level. The pizza butter was a nice touch, though not as memorable as the bread itself. Appetizers: * Caesar Salad: I wasn't a fan of the presentation with the large anchovies on top. I don't mind anchovies in the dressing, but having them laid out on the salad wasn't appetizing. * Tempura Mushrooms: Great flavor, but they were overly fried, making them a bit too hard and masking the mushroom itself. The sauce that came with them was delicious, but there wasn't enough of it to balance out the crispiness. * Grilled Shrimp: Unfortunately, this one missed the mark. The plating was very plain compared to the other dishes, and the flavors just didn't come through. It felt like the dish could use a serious upgrade. * Hamachi Crudo: This was a highlight! The passion fruit purée paired beautifully with the fish, though the extra oil on the plate caused separation and made it hard for the sauce to stick. A small tweak here would make it perfect. Entrees: This is where the meal lost momentum. After the apps, it took about 30-45 minutes for the mains to arrive, which felt unnecessarily long since the full order had been placed upfront. By the time they arrived, the dishes themselves didn't really deliver. * Scallop Curry: Decent flavor, but the scallops could have used a much better sear to really shine. Something about the plate felt a little off-balance. * Pappardelle with Short Rib Ragu: The pasta noodles were well-made, but the short rib lacked depth of flavor and tenderness. It seemed undercooked for what should have been a slow-braised, melt-in-your-mouth kind of meat. Overall, the dish was bland and uninspired. Drinks & Dessert: I skipped the cocktails because none really stood out, but the glass of wine I ordered was excellent. We also passed on dessert after waiting so long for the entrees. Final Thoughts: The restaurant has a lot of potential, the ambiance is beautiful, the focaccia is unforgettable, and the service (thanks to Blake) was wonderful. But the rest of the menu felt inconsistent, with several dishes needing more attention to detail in both flavor and presentation. I'm glad I finally tried it, but for me, the focaccia and service were the true highlights of the night.
