I visited hiho calabasas recently. I had previously dined at Santa Monica location to which I was underwhelmed and left a review for it. I visited this location to try again. Ordered my first burger and ended up ordering another one it was so good. Also nice that you can take your food and sit by the water or on their patio to enjoy the vibe. Service was quick and efficient. Great addition to the commons, looking foward to matu cheesesteaks opening at same location! Also I will note that the burgers/fries aren't cheap. However for the quality ingredients I think it's worth it. read more

Just came from the HiHo in Calabasas First time there, it's right beside SugarFish in Calabasas Commons. Fairly simple menu, not a ton of choices, but yummy! We had a HiHo Double and a HiHo Single. Burgers were really tasty, with mustard grilled patties, lettuce, cheese, ketchup, sweet pickles and a pickle relish. Very delicious. We got an order of fries to go with our burgers and they were fried really well till nice and crispy. Really good. The wife got the banana cream pie in a cup. At first, she was thinking it was a little small, but we couldn't even finish half of it, after our burgers. Over all, will definitely be back, totally recommend this place! read more

Good location in the Calabasas Commons. Plenty of parking with the humongous slot, including a Tesla charger. Moderate size courtyard for dining Inn as well as additional seating around the artificial pond in the center. Staff was very friendly and easy menu. Wasn't too loud in the patio area for dining Inn. Ordered the triple high burger with a side of honey tenders. The bun was a perfect soft compliment to the Smashburger patties. You can taste the quality in the beef and with ketchup/pickles it comes together well. The honey tenders were good quality chicken. Overall, it was a quality meal but a bit pricey for a burger and tenders. read more

This Los Angeles Wagyu burger shop has been on my list for ages! I've been drooling over photos and reviews of their 100% grass fed Wagyu burgers and their collab with Willie Mae's for the honey glaze fried chicken tenders. I stopped by the new Calabasas location right at opening (a small line was already forming, so get there early to beat the rush) and placed my order. The staff was friendly, the energy was buzzing, and the food came out pretty quickly. Everything tasted fresh, as the burger was juicy, and the chicken tenders were crispy and hot. Here's what I got: HiHo Double Cheeseburger: cheese, ketchup, slow cooked onions, lettuce, house made pickles on the side, and mustard grilled. This burger was insane. Seriously lives up to the hype and was super flavorful and cooked perfectly. Totally get why people have been lining up to try this 100% grass fed Wagyu burger. I'd give it a 9/10. Willie Mae Chicken Tenders: These are elite chicken strips. That batter?! Thick, extra crispy, and perfectly golden. Honey glazed with juicy white meat inside so it was flavorful. They come with a special matty sauce, but honestly, I was all about their house made ranch...definitely grab a few. One of the best chicken strips I've had in awhile if you love a crunchy batter. 10/10. The Calabasas Commons has really been getting a glow up with all these new spots, and HiHo is a great addition. Service was friendly and wait wasn't too bad. Plenty of outdoor seating on the patio which was nice. The burger itself was mid, which would make it probably my 5th choice taking into consideration all of the other smash burger places around here. It wasn't bad, just not great. We split the key lime & banana pie cups which were delicious. I think I would come here just for those alone. The fries were also 10/10, super crispy. Would I come back? Definitely. Came here on a Saturday evening, and there was already a line outside the door. It took us about 15 minutes just to place our order, then another 30 minutes to get our food. We decided to try this location because whenever we go to the Santa Monica location, we're usually in and out pretty quickly. Our original plan was to dine in, or in this case sit outside since there's no indoor seating but after waiting so long to order and then finding out there would be an additional wait for a table, we ended up just eating in the car instead, which was disappointing. Unfortunately, the food at this location was just okay. We ordered the Matty Double (made spicy for an extra $1.95), the honey spicy chicken tenders, and fries. The tenders weren't spicy at all and were cold by the time we got them. The fries were also disappointing, it looked like we got the leftover crumbs from the bottom of the bag. I understand this place is on the pricier side for burgers because you're paying for quality, but in this case, I don't think the quality matched the price. I know this location recently opened, so I understand they're still adjusting, but it's unfortunate that the quality and consistency aren't the same as the other locations. If this had been someone's first time trying this place, waiting over 30 minutes for food that was only okay might make them not want to come back. I've had great experiences at the Santa Monica location the staff is always friendly, and the food always comes out hot and fresh. Excellent burger. I love the big matty & the quality of the meat is amazing. Add with it the homemade bun & in house made crunchy pickles you have an incredible burger with juices dripping out of the burger when you pick it up, highlighting how perfect cooked & also the grade quality meat they use of Wagyu beef. And the wagyu Pastrami is insanely good best i have ever had. Im excited to try the chicken sandwich or the tenders. The key lime is good in a cup but i miss when they used to serve slices or even whole my key lime pies which are / were the best i ever had. Their homemade ice cream milkshakes are so good too. The burger was good and all the veggies were fresh. I skipped the bun and had it over a bed of lettuce. I asked for dressing and they said it would be $2 extra which is a bit silly. So I just skipped it. The fries were undercooked IMO. I prefer them with some crunch. I also tried their house lemonade. It comes in a plastic bottle. I guess I just pictured it being made on site. It was okay. There is a Cheesesteaks by Matu opening next door and I will probably try that instead next time. read more

I have to say... this place lives up to the expectations in my book. The price point and the quality of the food is a bargain in this high inflation climate we are currently in. The burger you would think be heavy in the belly but it feels like I had a salad for lunch on how light it is and no icky feeling once done like you do when you eat at other burger places. Visited HiHo Cheeseburger in Calabasas on their second day open -- wanted to love it, but left a little disappointed. We ordered the Triple Classic, the Hi-Ho Double, a side of fries, and a vanilla shake. The fries were decent but noticeably under-salted. The buns are actually good quality, but unfortunately they were completely soggy -- likely from the meat, which was strangely wet. It made the burgers hard to eat and really took away from the experience. The Triple Classic was a letdown -- with three patties you'd expect to actually taste the cheese, but there wasn't nearly enough of it. The burgers are also on the smaller side for the price point, which felt a bit off. The vanilla shake was probably the biggest miss. For what they charge, we got what felt like a kids-size portion, and the flavor honestly wasn't much better than a fast food shake. One thing that caught us off guard: a mandatory 6% "operating cost" fee tacked onto the bill. Yes they state it but if these are just the costs of running a restaurant, why not build them into the menu prices like every other place? It feels a bit deceptive -- especially since they make a point of advertising a no-tipping policy. A mandatory fee by another name is still a tip. read more

Two things it has going for it is the grass fed beef and tallow fries. The food is pretty good, but all the upcharges for sauce and pickles had me wishing I was over at The Stand where it's just...free. And It's always solid. Just wish more places I love would at least offer a grass fed option and maybe switch out their oils. Until then, I'll probably be back for their healthier food but with my own sauces as I wasn't a big fan of the Matty sauce. And I like my sauces! read more

THRILLED that HiHo finally opened in town. And yes! The burgers are still the yummiest, juiciest ones around. If you appreciate good meat, you will appreciate the grass fed waygu patties they serve here. I love the HiHo burger and triple if I'm feeling like a big back but I REALLY LOVE the Willie May Fried Chicken sandwich as well. Do not sleep on this. Willie May's fried chicken from Louisiana was here in Venice for a short while before Covid and if you were lucky enough, you got to try it. Sadly, they left but HiHo is the only place now that has the recipe for their fried chicken. It is so freaking scrumptious and crispy. Super flavorful. Especially with that honey & Matty Sauce. And the fries. Wow. Just yummy. The restaurant is nice with outdoor patio seating. And the service is impressive. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. They just had their grand opening this weekend so the line is a bit long, but it goes fast. If you want less of a line just go at off peak hours. It's so dumb that people are bitching about the 6% service charge. It's obvious that these people don't tip on the regular and never worked a food service job. I tip because I appreciate the service so this just makes things a bit easier. And it's a lot cheaper than what I would usually tip so I'm not complaining. All their sister restaurants do this anyway. Kazu Nori, Uovo, Sugarfish, Matu. IYKYK. Looking forward to more burger dates at HiHo. read more

Having been many times to the HiHo in Santa Monica, I was excited to come on opening day to their Calabasas location at the West end of the Commons. Crowded -- so about a 10-15min wait to be let it. They have a nice patio but it isn't huge -- so I can see seating being an issue since there is none indoors. (Just a long counter for standing). As for the food, I went with the classic HiHi double cheeseburger w/ fries. When I picked up the burger to eat it, a puddle of grease starting dripping out -- even more so when I squeezed the burger a bit. I don't remember this being the case in Santa Monica. Taste was pretty good although I could've used some more onions and lettuce (like In&Out provides). Fries were ok but could have been crispier. I know it was opening day, so I'm willing to give them another chance and adjust my review and maybe try their chicken. read more

Walked into HiHo Cheeseburger on a whim since it just opened and wow, this place is already dialed in. Kept it classic with the triple cheeseburger and it delivered in every way. The patties had that perfect sear, the cheese was melted just right, and every bite was rich without feeling over the top. You can tell they are serious about quality here. But the sleeper hit might be the fries. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, perfectly salted, and honestly hard to stop eating. Service was smooth, the vibe is clean and easy, and it feels like the kind of spot that is about to become a regular in the rotation. Calabasas needed this. Five stars without hesitation. read more

The food was excellent. I'm surprised about the mix reviews. I had the THE BIG MATTY and my wife had the THE WILLIE MAE. My kiddos had the cheeseburgers and we shared 2 servings of fries. I also had a chocolate milk shake. The burgers and chicken sandwiches were moist and flavorful. The sauce on the THE WILLIE MAE was so good and again chicken was moist. Great idea on the wide straw with the milk shake. My only critique is the milk shake should be a bit larger. Afterward, I complimented the team on how good the food was. Service time was typical. The ambiance was great at the commons-nice place to look at the turtles and walk around the plaza. The price was slightly elevated but I don't mind given how tasty this place was. read more

Nothing special, the pickles make the burger sweet, and can barely taste the meat because the patties are so small. I went about a week after they opened this location. Got there just before a couple of big groups came in so the time to order and get served was only about 20 minutes. The HiHo burger was messy delicious and my fries would have been a little better if crispy. Outside seating looks about 25-30 capacity so not great to stay past finishing your meal. The rest of menu looks really good too, especially their chicken sandwich. Remember, that the first 4-6 weeks a restaurant opens is when they are fine-tuning their menu and operation. I usually either give them a little leniency or wait til after that initial opening period. I will definitely go back to try the rest of the yummy menu. read more

I know it was a soft opening, but the fries were just awful, I had some and threw the rest away. Fries were burnt and extra salty (the tasted like they've been sitting in grease for a week). I got a Vanilla shake it was tasty but the size was so small for the price. I had the HiHo burger it was just ok and really small for a double cheeseburger. Overall this place is just average, nothing special at all. I love Cheeseburgers and was really excited that this place was opening up in Calabasas, but now I would rather drive to In N Out for a burger fries and a shake. 6% FEE ON ALL ORDERS (I will explain this at the end of my review). As much as I wanted to like this place, it's just another nickel and dime burger joint. When I went there at first, I wanted the pastrami on my burger and asked if I could get the pastrami heat with none of the spicy stuff. The girl told me she couldn't do that, but I could add pastrami to a regular burger. What's the difference? Anyway, I ordered a burger with added pastrami which was an up-charge, fine, but there was barely enough pastrami to make a difference. The fries are good. I went a second time recently and tried to order pastrami fries (other locations have them) and they don't have them here. They have pastrami. They have fries. But no pastrami fries. Weird. After I ordered, paid, and got my receipt, I was just glancing over it and noticed "Fee" as an item on the receipt. I went up and looked at the menu to make sure they mention it, which they do. However, they state that they are a "no tipping establishment." Which is fine. But then it goes on to say that this "fee" is "used to fund all of our operations." So what is the price of my burger for? Why is a side of sauce almost $2? What do you mean there's a fee to cover your operations? Is that not the whole point of pricing your menu accordingly? I may be wrong, but I do not believe that any portion of this "fee" goes towards any of the hourly employees as a tip; I believe they just make hourly and that's it, and they include the "no tipping establishment" line just to make us think the workers get a piece of that. Again, I could be wrong, but it seems highly unlikely that that is the case. $4 for a bottle of water. $3+ for a CAN OF COKE. No combo meal available. Again. Just another nickel and dime burger spot. read more
